二、阅读理解
[2025改编] “Animation is not just for children; it is a language of the heart.” Up to now, few have spoken this language like Hayao Miyazaki. He has brought comfort to millions through stressful times.
Not that Miyazaki’s road was smooth. He was born in Tokyo in 1941. As a child, he was sickly and spent much time drawing alone. By his twenties, he had, through his talent, become one of the most promising animators in Japan.
Later, Miyazaki co‑founded Studio Ghibli, where stories were told through hand‑drawn frames and imagination. Usually, Miyazaki’s films feature a young girl facing mystery, like Spirited Away’s Chihiro, a brave girl who enters a spirit world. Even though Chihiro was scared, she always tried to turn fear into kindness like Miyazaki.
In the film My Neighbor Totoro, two sisters meet a forest spirit during their mother’s illness. While the film has gentle moments, it also has times of worry. As Miyazaki said, it was “a movie that wraps you in warmth, and perhaps a tear”. Similarly, in Princess Mononoke, with humans fighting nature, the hero tries to bring balance and makes you believe peace is possible.
Miyazaki once said, “My weakness may be the reason for somebody’s strength. But my films must never be the reason for somebody’s pain.” He is loved and remembered as a great director who encouraged people during hard times.

3. What do we know about Chihiro in Spirited Away?
A. She was a poor girl in real life.
B. She had similar experiences with Miyazaki.
C. She always told jokes to make people laugh.
D. She showed her bravery through her actions.
4. What do My Neighbor Totoro and Princess Mononoke have in common?
A. They are rich in funny conversations.
B. Their main characters have nothing to wear.
C. They show warmth with a touch of sadness.
D. Their main characters have a happy childhood.
5. What did Miyazaki want to express in the last paragraph?
