You need to write an email to invite your foreign teacher Mr Smith to be a judge. Discuss the following questions: 1. What types of information will you include in your invitation email? 2. What language style will you use, formal or informal? Sample Analysis ֎ Read a sample email. Identify its structure, main content and underline some useful language. Dear Mr Jenson, Hope this email finds you well. On behalf of the Student Union, I am writing to invite you to help us judge the final of our school public speaking competition. The final competition will take place at the lecture hall on 10 May(9am-12pm). On that day, 12 finalists will each deliver a five-minute English speech on the topic “Education for Innovation”. During the final round, as a judge, you would be responsible for listening to and scoring the speeches according to the progression of ideas, pronunciation, fluency, and also audience engagement. At the end of the competition, you are expected to join the other three judges in a discussion to decide who comes first, second and third.
