Festivals are meant for music, dancing, and celebration — not for leaving behind piles of rubbish. While this idea has long been a shared belief among festival-goers, the reality often tells a different story. Festivals like Coachella and Stagecoach produce about 214,000 pounds of waste a day, and only a fifth of it is recycled.
The carefree feeling at festivals — where people try to escape everyday duties — can sometimes lead to careless habits, like throwing things away without thinking. But this also gives us a chance to help people change how they act. If festival-goers learn to take responsibility for their impact on the environment while they’re there, they might keep those good habits when they return home. “That’s why we need festivals that show what a clean, waste-free event can look like,” says Heather White, founder of One Green Thing. “If people’s attitudes don’t change, even strong government rules won’t solve the problem.”
This idea finds its purest expression in Norway’s Oya Festival. As Norway’s largest outdoor music festival, Oya is recognized as Europe’s Greenest Festival. First, nearly all of the 22,000 attendees travel to the festival by public transport or bike, which removes the biggest source of pollution at most festivals-travel. Second, while UK festivals burn about 100 million gallons of diesel fuel every year, Oya runs almost entirely on clean energy. This is possible because more than 90% of Norway’s electricity comes from renewable sources like water and wind. Finally, to reduce plastic waste, Oya forbade single-use plastics in 2019. Nearly all food packaging is turned into a renewable fuel after the festival. About 60% of the festival’s total waste is recycled, which is about three times the rate at Coachella.
Oya proves that it’s possible to have fun while protecting the environment. But one green festival alone can’t fix the planet’s problems. Only when the whole music industry works together can we expect festivals with pure joy and no pollution.
24. Why are the two festivals mentioned in paragraph 1?
A. To compare their musical styles.
B. To show how fun festivals can be.
C. To introduce popular music events.
D. To give examples of wasteful festivals.
25. What’s important for green festivals, according to Heather White?
A. Government measures. B. Festival-goers’ feeling.
C. People’s attitude change. D. Careless environmental habits.
26. How does the author show the effectiveness of Oya’s measures?
A. By giving expert advice. B. By making comparisons.
C. By listing government rules. D. By telling an inspiring story.
27. What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A. Oya is the only green festival in Europe.
B. The music industry needs to join hands.
C. Pure joy is hard to achieve at music festivals.
D. Oya Festival has completely got rid of pollution.
D 25. C 26. B 27. B
根据第一段“Festivals are meant for music, dancing, and celebration — not for leaving behind piles of rubbish.(节日是为了音乐、舞蹈和庆祝而存在的,而不是为了留下成堆的垃圾。)”和“Festivals like Coachella and Stagecoach produce about 214,000 pounds of waste a day, and only a fifth of it is recycled.(像科切拉和Stagecoach这样的音乐节每天产生约21.4万磅的垃圾,其中只有五分之一被回收利用。)”
根据第二段“‘That’s why we need festivals that show what a clean, waste-free event can look like,’ says Heather White, founder of One Green Thing. ‘If people’s attitudes don’t change, even strong government rules won’t solve the problem’(‘这就是为什么我们需要展示一个干净、无浪费的活动是什么样的节日,’One Green Thing的创始人希瑟·怀特说。‘如果人们的态度不改变,即使强有力的政府规定也无法解决问题’)”可知,希瑟·怀特认为人们态度的改变对于绿色节日来说是最重要的
【26题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段“while UK festivals burn about 100 million gallons of diesel fuel every year, Oya runs almost entirely on clean energy(英国的音乐节每年消耗约1亿加仑柴油,而Oya几乎完全依靠清洁能源运行)”以及“About 60% of the festival’s total waste is recycled, which is about three times the rate at Coachella.(音乐节总垃圾的约60%被回收利用,大约是科切拉音乐节回收率的三倍。)”
根据最后一段“Only when the whole music industry works together can we expect festivals with pure joy and no pollution.(只有当整个音乐行业共同努力时,我们才能期待有纯粹的快乐和无污染的音乐节。)”

Despite huge advances in cyber security, one weakness continues to overshadow all others: human error. Research has shown human error is responsible for majority of successful cyber attacks. A recent report puts the figure at 68%.
No matter how advanced our technological defenses become, the human element is likely to remain the weakest link in the cyber security chain. This weakness affects everyone using digital devices, yet traditional education and even new laws fail to address it. So, how can we deal with human-centered cyber security related challenges?
There are two types of human error. The first is skills-based errors, which occur during routine tasks when attention is diverted — forgetting to back up data due to a busy schedule. For example, you might forget to back up desktop data because you needed to get home early, or had lots of emails to respond to, which may make you more exposed to a cyber attack. Second, knowledge-based errors arise from lacking important knowledge or failing to follow specific rules, such as clicking an unknown email link, which could lead to you being attacked and losing your money and data, as the link might contain dangerous software.
Organisations and governments have invested heavily in cyber security education programs to address human error. However, these programs have had mixed results. This is partly because many programs take a technology-centric, one-size-fits-all approach. Yet, they don’t address the underlying psychological and behavioural issues.
The reality is that changing human behaviour is far more complex than simply providing information. This is especially true in the context of cyber security. Behavioural change requires ongoing investment into promoting awareness. Just because people knowing best practices doesn’t mean they will consistently apply them — especially when faced with competing priorities (优先事项) or time pressures.
28. What is probably the weakest part in cybersecurity?
A. Technology. B. Device. C. Human. D. Education.
29. Which of the following belongs to knowledge-based errors?
A. Forgetting to save a copy.
B. Having numbers of emails to answer.
C. Failing to finish routine tasks on time.
D. Clicking a link from an unknown email.
30. Why are cyber security education programs ineffective?
A. They lack financial support.
B. They adopt an overly personalized approach.
C. They ignore mental and behavioral factors.
D. They fail to teach technological knowledge.
31. What is the author’s suggestion for cyber security?
A. Improve technological defenses.
B. Reduce time and workload pressures.
C. Make new laws to punish digital errors.
D. Offer continuous training on awareness.
C 29. D 30. C 31. D
根据第一段“Despite huge advances in cyber security, one weakness continues to overshadow all others: human error. Research has shown human error is responsible for majority of successful cyber attacks. A recent report puts the figure at 68%. (尽管网络安全技术取得了巨大进步,但有一个弱点始终盖过其他所有隐患:人为失误。研究表明,绝大多数网络攻击得逞都源于人为失误,近期一份报告给出的数据高达68%。)”及第二段中“No matter how advanced our technological defenses become, the human element is likely to remain the weakest link in the cyber security chain. This weakness affects everyone using digital devices, yet traditional education and even new laws fail to address it. (无论我们的技术防护多么先进,人为因素始终是网络安全链条里最薄弱的一环。这个隐患影响着每一个使用电子设备的人,但传统教育乃至新出台的法规都没能解决这一问题。)”可知,文章开篇就明确指出,网络安全最大的薄弱点是人为失误,第二段也再次点明人为因素仍是网络安全链中最薄弱的环节。
【29题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段中“Second, knowledge-based errors arise from lacking important knowledge or failing to follow specific rules, such as clicking an unknown email link, which could lead to you being attacked and losing your money and data, as the link might contain dangerous software. (第二类是知识型失误:因缺乏重要知识或未能遵守特定规则导致,比如随意点击陌生邮件链接。这类链接可能包含危险软件,会导致你被攻击、钱财和数据受损。)”可知,知识型失误源于缺少相关知识、不遵守规则,点击陌生邮件链接属于这类错误。
【30题详解】
细节理解题。根据第四段“Organisations and governments have invested heavily in cyber security education programs to address human error. However, these programs have had mixed results. This is partly because many programs take a technology-centric, one-size-fits-all approach. Yet, they don’t address the underlying psychological and behavioural issues. (组织和政府已投入大量资金开展网络安全教育项目,试图减少人为失误,但效果参差不齐。部分原因是很多项目以技术为中心、采用一刀切的方法。但它们并没有解决深层的心理与行为问题。)”可知,现有安全教育项目效果不佳,核心原因是它们没有解决深层的心理与行为问题,也就是忽略了心理与行为因素。
【31题详解】
推理判断题。根据最后一段“The reality is that changing human behaviour is far more complex than simply providing information. This is especially true in the context of cyber security. Behavioural change requires ongoing investment into promoting awareness. Just because people knowing best practices doesn’t mean they will consistently apply them — especially when faced with competing priorities or time pressures. (现实情况是,改变人类行为远比单纯提供信息要复杂得多。在网络安全领域尤其如此。行为改变需要持续投入以提高意识。仅仅因为人们了解最佳做法,并不意味着他们会始终如一地应用它们——尤其是在面临相互竞争的优先事项或时间压力时。)”可知,改变人的行为需要持续投入来推广提升安全意识,因此作者的建议是:提供持续的安全意识培训。
D
School is much more than a place where students gather to learn. For children, school is their first opportunity for social development and introduction to people outside of their family unit. Lessons learned in school go beyond mathematics and language arts. Students learn to develop individual interests and find other people who share their interests.
Music is one of the ways like — minded children come together. When many people talk about the advantages of music education, they are quick to point out all of the measurable results of music — education: many studies show the positive effect music programs can have on children in other areas of study.
Dr. Laurel Trainor, a professor of psychology, at McMaster University, has said young children who take music lessons show different brain development and improved memory compared to children who do not receive musical training. Stanford University researchers have found that musical training improves how the brain processes the spoken word, a finding that researchers say could lead to improving the reading ability of children who have dyslexia (失语症) and other reading problems.
Furthermore, in an analysis (分析) of data on more than 25,000 secondary school students, researchers at the United States Department of Education found that students who report continuous participation in instrumental music during middle — school and high school perform much better in mathematics.
There are many reasons why music education can help to make a child a better student. There is also a social effort that can set the course for lifelong friends and help create social groups that last through school and beyond. Music education contributes to familiarity (熟悉) during a school career, when going from class to class or from school to school every year can cause children to feel nervous.
32. What is the function of paragraph 1?
A. To show school is a place for learning. B. To highlight the significance of music.
C. To stress the importance of learning. D. To lead to the main topic of the passage.
33. Which of the following is not the benefit of music education?
A. Brain development and improved memory.
B. Better performance in mathematics.
C. Fewer reading problems.
D. Better interpersonal relationships.
34. Researchers at the United States Department of Education did their research by ________.
A. analyzing data B. analyzing reports
C. conducting interviews D. conducting a survey
35. What is the author’s purpose of writing the passage?
A. To indicate few schools really focus on music education.
B. To show music offers social and understanding benefits.
C. To prove music can make sure you have lots of close friends.
D. To suggest changing schools has a bad effect on everyone.
D 33. C 34. A 35. B

When I started my first year of high school, I held a simple belief: only focus on things I was good at and work hard on them. I refused to waste time on things I wasn’t good at.
This idea worked well for me. I put great effort into my studies and piano practice, and finally reached my goals with excellent grades and awards. My friends joked about my way of thinking, but I believed it was the only right way to succeed.
At the start of my second year, I planned to keep doing the same. Then I joined the school’s cross-country team, one year after I watched cross-country races. I thought I was never able to do it. I joined mainly because my brother and many of my friends were on the team. They had been asking me to join them for months.
At my first practice, I hoped to become an outstanding runner. But as we ran longer each time, I found that no matter how hard I tried, I was among the slowest members. My muscles (肌肉) hurt so much that I could hardly stand it. Why did I have to suffer so much? I would never become a good runner. After several weeks, I wanted to give up.
Then came our first cross-country competition. When we arrived at Lamoille High School, seeing other teams warming up made me worried. I thought my coach and teammates would be unhappy with my performance and blame (责备) me. So I decided to leave the cross-country team after the race.

My teammates and I jogged to the starting line together.

Surprisingly, my coach and teammates were smiling and cheering for me, without any blame.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
My teammates and I jogged to the starting line together. As the whistle blew, we rushed forward at once. Soon, I fell far behind others, tired and breathless. My legs felt heavy and my heart beat wildly. Thinking of my previous failure in training, I almost lost hope. However, I kept telling myself not to quit and insisted on moving step by step. With great pain and perseverance, I finally crossed the finish line last.
Surprisingly, my coach and teammates were smiling and cheering for me, without any blame. They praised me for sticking to the end instead of giving up halfway. At that moment, I realized success never only belongs to those who are talented. Facing weaknesses and challenging impossible things also matters a lot. I abandoned my old belief and decided to keep running. Gradually, I became stronger and learned to embrace challenges bravely in life.
