In China, many young people are becoming farmers, but in a very modern way. With drones (无人机), big data (大数据) and smart machines, they are changing what farming looks like.
Wang Huan, 21, grew up in a farming family in Shanxi Province. As a child, he saw how hard traditional farming was. His parents had to carry heavy tools on their shoulders and backs and work hard under the hot sun. It was tiring and slow. Now, by using a drone, Wang can finish in just one day the same work that once took several people nearly a week. Besides drones, Wang also uses other modern machines.
Another young farmer, 22-year-old Ding Zehui, also returned to his village in Shanxi Province after university. He joined a local farmers’ group and helped his family to buy an unmanned seeder (无人驾驶播种机). With the Beidou navigation (导航) system, the machine can work around the clock and plant seeds well. According to Ding, farming machines are also becoming more comfortable, with air conditioning (空调系统) and easier controls.
Smart farming is bringing pride to today’s young farmers. Unlike their parents and grandparents, who see farming as hard work, young farmers feel proud and full of purpose. They depend on technology and use it as a powerful tool to help with farming.

B. Young farmers today feel proud of modern farming.
C. Modern machines can make farming faster and easier.
D. The work environment for farmers has greatly improved.
29. What can we learn about young farmers from Wang Huan’s father’s words?
A. They are afraid of change.
B. They are clever and hard-working.
C. They are slower than older farmers.
D. They are more creative with new technology.
30. What is the writer’s purpose in writing this passage?
A. To encourage young people to go back to the countryside.

A new snack called “milk skin (奶皮子) tanghulu” is sweeping across China. Some people love it for its delicious taste. Some people like its good-looking appearance. Also, some people enjoy it because it brings back sweet childhood memories.
Milk skin tanghulu wins the hearts of young people with its creative combination (结合) of tastes. Do you know how to make it? Sellers first string (串起) fruits like hawthorn (山楂) and strawberries on a stick. Then, they cover the fruits with a piece of soft, chewy milk skin. Finally they pour a shiny layer of hard sugar over it. The snack became famous through short videos on social media like Douyin and Xiaohongshu. Some food lovers shared their experiences of eating milk skin tanghulu, which made it popular online.
Milk skin tanghulu keeps traditional food culture and adds something new to it. Unlike some passing trends (短暂的潮流), milk skin tanghulu carries deep cultural meaning. The success of it shows that tradition doesn’t have to stay the same—with creativity, it can shine again in modern times.
However, the snack also brings some problems. A stick often costs 20 to 30 yuan, reaching up to 98 yuan in cities like Shanghai. Health experts also worry about its high sugar and fat content.
