(本题10分)Last summer, I went to France for a holiday. I was so excited but also a little nervous because my French was not good.
One hot afternoon, after exploring the city, I felt really tired. I wanted to tell my French friend, Claire, “I am a little tired.” I carefully said the words I’d learned: “Je suis un pue fatigue.”
But Claire burst out laughing. My face felt hot. What had I done wrong? Claire explained, “In French, there are words that sound similar but have very different meanings. ‘peu’ means ‘a little,’ but if you pronounce it differently, it can sound like ‘pue’, which means ‘stinks’ — like something smells bad. So, instead of saying you needed a rest, it sounded like you were saying you smelled bad and were tired”
This awkward (尴尬的) moment was a real eye-opener for me. It made me realize just how daunting pronunciation can be in a foreign language. Even small differences in pronunciation can completely change the meaning of what you’re trying to say. The same is true in English, for example, “ship” (a large boat) and “sheep” (a woolly animal) sound very similar, but they mean totally different things.
Now, I pay extra attention to how words sound and what they mean. And if I mix them up again? I’ll just laugh along. After all, laughing is part of learning — even if it’s a bit stinky sometimes.
24.(10分)Why was the author nervous about his holiday in France?
A.He was poor at French. B.He never went abroad.
C.He had no friends there. D.He was in short of money.
25.What awkward moment did the author meet?
A.He got a wrong person. B.He made a pronunciation mistake.
C.He was tricked by the locals. D.He spelt a word incorrectly.
26.What does the underlined word “daunting” in paragraph 4 most probably mean?
A.Easy. B.Natural. C.Difficult. D.Clear.
27.How did the author’s experience in France affect him?
A.He smelled bad and was tired.
B.He hated learning foreign languages.
C.He no longer considered Claire as a friend.
D.He became open to mistakes in language learning.
(本题10分)When you are in another country, it is important to know the language, but it is equally important to know how to communicate non-verbally. Before saying anything, people communicate non-verbally by making gestures. According to an investigation (调查) , only 30 to 35 percent of our communication is verbal. When people don’t know the language, the most common way to communicate is through gestures. However, many gestures have different meanings, or no meaning at all, in different parts of the world.
In the United States, for example, nodding your head up and down means “yes”. In some parts of Greece and Turkey however, this motion can mean “no”. In Southeast Asia, nodding your head is a polite way of saying “I’ve heard you”.
In ancient Rome, when the emperor wanted to spare someone’s life, he would put his thumb up. Today in the United States, when someone puts his/ her thumb up, it means “Everything is all right.” However, in Sardinia and Greece, the gesture is impolite and should not be used there.
In the United States, raising your clasped (握紧的) hands above your head means “I’m the champion” or “I’m the winner”. It is the sign prizefighters (职业拳击手) make when they win a fight. When a leading Russian politician made this gesture after a White House meeting, Americans misunderstood and thought he meant he was a winner. In Russia, however, it is a sign of friendship.
There are other nonverbal signals that people should be aware of when they, go to another country, such as the distance to maintain between speakers. Americans stand closer to each other than English people. English people don’t like touching somebody or being touched. Now in America, touch is important. Friends touch each other on the arm, for example. They often put an arm around a friend when they say “hello” or “goodbye”.
28.(10分)What can be inferred from Paragraph 1?
A.Language is the most important in communication globally.
B.Nonverbal expression must be superior to verbal expression.
C.70% of communication between people is done through spoken words.
D.Communication sometimes can be achieved through gestures.
29.Why do Americans and Turkish people misunderstand each other when exchanging opinions?
A.Because their body language has opposite meanings.
B.Because they have different attitudes towards time.
C.Because they have different grammatical systems.
D.Because they have different voices in the world.
30.How to express friendship in Russia?
A.Placing one’s hands together on one’s shoulders.
B.Kissing their favorite friends on both arms.
C.Raising one’s clasped hands above one’s head.
D.Moving one’s hand in circles over one’s arms.
31.Which of the following is the best title for the passage?
A.Verbal Vs. Non-Verbal Communication: Which Is More Important?
B.Cross-Cultural Gestures: Diverse Meanings Around the World
C.Overseas Communication: Non-Verbal Gestures Are the Only Key
D.Non-Verbal Communication: Equally Important and Culturally Varied
(本题10分)Parkinson’s disease (帕金森病) often causes “freezing”, which means a person suddenly cannot move their feet forward, leading to a high risk of falls. Amey Desai, a 30-year-old electrical engineer, was inspired to create a device to help people with walking difficulties after his grandfather suffered from Parkinson’s disease. His studies in engineering helped him to develop a special wearable device called “WALK”.
Developing WALK took several years until he worked closely with Dr. Samit Chakrabarty, whose research is related to movement control through signals created by the muscles. This experience proved to be a turning point. After their first model was built, he worked with many medical experts and doctors to test it. They followed strict medical safety standards and got the necessary papers. To their excitement, the result at a major hospital showed that using WALK reduced freezing by nearly half during tests.
WALK is a small wearable device which can be tied to the lower legs. It uses sensors (传感器) to monitor walking patterns. When it senses signs of freezing, it produces gentle vibrations (振动) and mild electrical shock. These act as signs to help the wearer start moving again. The device also comes with a smartphone app that lets users track their progress and do guided exercises. Doctors can also check patient data through it.
The device has already helped nearly 300 families across Amey Desai’s home country. Users report feeling more confident and independent. One user’s son shared that his mother said it felt like “life had returned to her legs”. Another user, a 70-year-old man, said it helped him walk better and even return to playing golf.
The device has benefited many people at the price of Rs 50,000 in his country. “We really hope to diminish it in the coming months,” Amey shares. Looking forward, Amey aims to make WALK more affordable and accessible to patients worldwide.
32.(10分)Why did Amey develop WALK?
A.To apply his studies to practice.
B.To meet the demands of the seniors.
C.To become a famous medical expert.
D.To help people with walking problems.
33.What’s the function of the smartphone app?
A.Monitoring walking patterns.
B.Tracking users’ daily exercise.
C.Providing gentle vibrations and shock.
D.Sharing patient information with doctors.
34.What do the users’ comments suggest?
A.The users could run on their own.
B.The device cures the users’ diseases.
C.The device works well for the users.
D.The users gained strength to play sports.
35.What does the underlined word “diminish” in the last paragraph probably mean?
A.Decrease. B.Design. C.Change. D.Quit.
(本题12.5分)Many people have a habit of throwing in a quick “you know, like” or “so like” in between every few sentences. Those are called filler words, which are defined as words, sounds or phrases we use, often unintentionally, to fill pauses (停顿) when we don’t know what to say. 36(12.5分) , you’ve probably noticed that different people use different filler words.
By talking to people, we can build a rhythm that allows us to deliver information, and filler words can be a great tool in maintaining conversational momentum (势头). “ 37 , you have to have natural pauses. Filler words sometimes will serve that purpose for you,” said Dr. Angela Corbo, a professor at Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania. “They often replace ‘I need a moment to get my thoughts together.’”
However, whether you’re speaking in court or being interviewed, it’s often preferable to avoid using filler words because people might interpret empty words or phrases as your being unprepared. You can prevent that by practicing your presentation in advance. 38 .
“If I’m preparing to teach a class, I want to show I’m prepared and that I’m knowledgeable,” Corbo said. “But on the other hand, I want to ensure there’s interaction. I might pause. 39 .” It’s about finding a balance that gets you to your goal and allows for interpersonal relationship building between you and your audience.
40 ? If your audience have already given you trust and they want to be with you and be relaxed, it’s perfectly fine for you to use filler words. And it’s also OK to use filler words when you’re talking with trusted friends or family because you have an established relationship, noted Corbo.
A.Why do we use filler words
B.So, what exactly is the right time to use filler words
C.You don’t need to be polished during those conversations
D.If you want to reflect when communicating with someone else
E.I’ll often use ‘so’ just to bring people into the conversation a little more
F.But being in a professional setting doesn’t mean you can’t use filler words
G.If you’ve ever spoken to people from different regions or even been online

Yimakan, an oral art 56(15分) (compose) of poems and stories, stands as a precious record of the Hezhen people’s history. For centuries, it has been narrated (讲述) by “Yimakan Qi Mafa” — master storytellers 57 possess extraordinary language skills and pass down tales of heroes defeating monsters and defending tribal honor. What makes it unique is that it uses various melodies to convey different characters, with no instrumental accompaniment, a feature that sets it apart 58 other narrative arts.
As the Hezhen people have no written script, their culture relies 59 (entire) on such oral transmission. However, modernization led to 60 sharp decline: By the 21st century, only five masters could perform the complete long stories. This crisis caused urgent action. What the government prioritized was collecting endangered cultural materials. Experts searched villages for 61 (represent) practitioners (传承人), recorded over 1,000 hours of performances, 62 collected texts to establish a digital archive (档案).
Efforts to bring Yimakan to life have since borne fruit. Seven study centers now operate in Heilongjiang, with the number of practitioners 63 (grow) to over 100. Online courses, whose length reaches 150 hours, teach its melodies, while festivals host performances to stimulate public interest. Notably, works like Xite Morigen 64 (choose) as teaching materials when the protection project started, ensuring authentic transmission. Today, Yimakan has gained international 65 (recognize), added to UNESCO’s list of heritage in need of urgent safeguarding. What we cherish most is that it embodies the Hezhen’s humanistic values and primitive wisdom. This art form, once fading, proves it is worthy of lasting protection.

Mason, a 16-year-old from New Zealand, had just started his exchange year at a Chinese high school. The school was full of energy, and the students seemed warm and welcoming. However, Mason often felt nervous because of the language barrier (障碍).
Although Mason had studied some Chinese before, he was still not confident, especially when it came to Chinese writing. Spoken mistakes could be corrected quickly, but written ones stayed on the paper, clear for everyone to see. He worried that his classmates might laugh at him if he used the wrong words or made grammatical mistakes.
One Monday morning, Mason’s Chinese teacher gave the class a task. Each student needed to write a short text to introduce themselves. The letters would be posted on the class notice board. When Mason heard this, he felt a wave of fear. He stared at the blank page, not knowing where to start.
After class, Mason remained at his desk. His deskmate, Li Juan, noticed that Mason looked worried and asked him what was wrong. After a moment of silence, Mason shared his fear of writing in Chinese and being laughed at by others.
Li Juan smiled and shook her head. “Everyone makes mistakes while learning a new language,” she said. “We all learn by making them.” She encouraged Mason to write in simple Chinese and focus on expressing his ideas, without worrying too much about grammar. Li Juan even offered to help Mason check his letter later.
That night, Mason finally picked up his pen and began to write. He wrote slowly and carefully, choosing words he was familiar with. Though he was still nervous, he finished the letter and felt a sense of relief.
The next day, Mason walked into the classroom, holding his letter tightly in his hand, unsure of what would happen next.
注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;

14.What did the speakers disagree on before the conversation?
A.Who to invite.
B.Who to ask questions.

【原文】W: Tim. We had an argument again about who was going to be the main speaker just before we started the show.
M: Yeah, we often fall out over silly things like who’s going to introduce the show or who’s going to choose the questions. Did you know you waved your arms around a lot when arguing?
W: Oh, I didn’t notice that.
M: Using gestures to express what you’re thinking is commonplace in some countries, but a gesture can mean different things in different countries. For instance, shaking your head mostly means “no”, but in other countries it can mean the opposite. So the question is: In which country does shaking your head mean “yes”? Greece, Japan or Bulgaria?
W: Umm … No idea. Maybe Bulgaria? But I do know Indians shake their heads to mean lots of things. That goes completely over my head.
M: You’ve hit it this time. We need to be careful to avoid offense when greeting people from other cultures with gestures. Now we’ll invite Erin Meyer to talk about misunderstandings and confusions in multicultural conversations and analyze the reasons.

【答案】17.A 18.B 19.C 20.A
【原文】W: As a child, I was given a boy’s name, Te-Ping Chen. My parents wanted to honor their grandfather, so they named me after him. Growing up in California. I learned to hate self-introduction, because so few people could ever pronounce my name. They’d say Tee-ping or Tuh-ping. My face would burn, and I’d feel uncomfortable. For years, my name has made me feel embarrassed. In Chinese, the name sounds gently pleasant. The Te means virtue. Ping means peace. But in English, the letters looked awkward and off-balance to me. But my parents were proud of the name, proud of what it stood for. They were Americans, but they hadn’t thrown away their tradition. Why would they choose that name instead of a Jessica or a Molly? I understand now. We name ourselves to honor our ancestor who brought us to America. It’s a name that has made me think hard about identity. In that way, it has helped make me who I am. I had a kid recently, and we also gave him a Chinese name. His name means joy. There’s strength in saying that, you’re here and we’re here. This is where we come from, and these are our names. So we should be proud of our names.

【答案】24.A 25.B 26.C 27.D
【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。文章主要讲述了作者在法国度假时,因法语发音错误而引发的尴尬经历及从中获得的启示。
【详解】24.细节理解题。根据第一段中“I was so excited but also a little nervous because my French was not good.(我很兴奋,但也有点紧张,因为我的法语不好。)”可知,作者因为法语不好而感到紧张。故选A。
25.细节理解题。根据第三段中“Claire explained, “In French, there are words that sound similar but have very different meanings. ‘peu’ means ‘a little,’ but if you pronounce it differently, it can sound like ‘pue’, which means ‘stinks’ — like something smells bad.(Claire解释说:“在法语中,有些词发音相似,但意思却大不相同。‘peu’的意思是‘一点点’,但如果你发音不同,听起来就像‘pue’,意思是‘发臭’——就像什么东西闻起来很臭。)”可知,作者遇到的尴尬时刻是发音错误。故选B。
26.词句猜测题。根据第四段中“This awkward (尴尬的) moment was a real eye-open er for me. It made me realize just how daunting pronunciation can be in a foreign language. Even small differences in pronunciation can completely change the meaning of what you’re trying to say.(这个尴尬的时刻让我大开眼界。它让我意识到在外语中发音是多么daunting。即使发音上的微小差异也会完全改变你想说的意思。)”可知,发音可能是困难的。因此,daunting最可能的意思是“困难的”。故选C。
27.推理判断题。根据最后一段中“Now, I pay extra attention to how words sound and what they mean. And if I mix them up again? I’ll just laugh along. After all, laughing is part of learning — even if it’s a bit stinky sometimes.(现在,我特别注意单词的发音和意思。如果我再把它们混在一起呢?我会一起笑的。毕竟,笑是学习的一部分——即使有时有点臭。)”可知,作者在法国的经历使他变得对语言学习中的错误持开放态度。故选D。
【答案】28.D 29.A 30.C 31.D
【导语】本文为一篇说明文。文章强调在跨文化交际中,非语言交流(尤其是手势)与语言同等重要,并揭示同一手势在不同文化中可能具有截然不同的含义,警示人们需具备文化敏感性以避免误解。
【详解】28.推理判断题。根据文章第一段“When people don’t know the language, the most common way to communicate is through gestures.(当人们不懂语言时,最常见的交流方式就是通过手势。)”可知,第一段明确指出,当人们不懂语言时,最常见的交流方式是通过手势,由此推知,交流有时可以通过手势来进行。故选D。
29.细节理解题。根据文章第二段“In the United States, for example, nodding your head up and down means “yes”. In some parts of Greece and Turkey however, this motion can mean “no”.(例如在美国,上下点头表示“是”。但在希腊和土耳其的部分地区,这个动作可能意味着“不”。)”可知,在美国点头表示“是”,但在土耳其部分地区可能表示“不”,相同手势在不同文化中含义相反,因此造成了他们相互的误解。故选A。
30.细节理解题。根据文章第四段“In the United States, raising your clasped (握紧的) hands above your head means “I’m the champion” or “I’m the winner”. It is the sign prizefighters (职业拳击手) make when they win a fight. When a leading Russian politician made this gesture after a White House meeting, Americans misunderstood and thought he meant he was a winner. In Russia, however, it is a sign of friendship.(在美国,将握紧的双手举过头顶表示“我是冠军”或“我是赢家”。这是职业拳击手赢得比赛时做的手势。当一位俄罗斯主要政治人物在白宫会议后做出这个手势时,美国人误解了,以为他的意思是他是赢家。然而在俄罗斯,这却是友谊的象征。)”可知,在美国握紧双手举过头顶表示“胜利”,但在俄罗斯,这是友谊的象征。故在俄罗斯,握紧双手举过头顶表示友谊。故选C。
31.主旨大意题。根据文章第一段“When people don’t know the language, the most common way to communicate is through gestures. However, many gestures have different meanings, or no meaning at all, in different parts of the world.(然而,在世界不同地区,许多手势的含义各不相同,甚至完全没有意义。)”以及通读全文可知,文章开篇强调非语言交流与语言同等重要,随后通过多个例子,点头、竖拇指、举手势等说明手势在不同文化中有不同甚至相反的含义,故贯穿全文的主题是非语言交流的重要性及其文化多样性。因此D项“非语言交流:同等重要且文化多元”能概括文章主旨,适合作文章标题。故选D。
A.Decrease. B.Design. C.Change. D.Quit.
【答案】32.D 33.D 34.C 35.A
【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了工程师Amey受患帕金森病的祖父启发,研发了穿戴设备“WALK”,从而帮助了数百个家庭的患者。
32.推理判断题。根据第一段“Amey Desai, a 30-year-old electrical engineer, was inspired to create a device to help people with walking difficulties after his grandfather suffered from Parkinson’s disease. His studies in engineering helped him to develop a special wearable device called “WALK”.(现年30岁的电气工程师Amey Desai,在其祖父患上帕金森病后,受到启发,决心研发一款帮助行走困难人群的装置。他所学的工程学知识助力他开发出了一款名为“WALK”的特殊可穿戴设备。)”可知,Amey研发WALK这个设备的目的是帮助有行走困难的人。故选D。
33.细节理解题。根据第三段“The device also comes with a smartphone app that lets users track their progress and do guided exercises. Doctors can also check patient data through it.(这款设备还配备了一款智能手机应用程序,用户可通过它追踪自己的康复进展,并进行有指导的锻炼。医生也能通过该程序查看患者的数据。)”可知,这款智能手机应用的功能是与医生共享患者信息。故选D。
34.推理判断题。根据第四段“Users report feeling more confident and independent. One user’s son shared that his mother said it felt like “life had returned to her legs”. Another user, a 70-year-old man, said it helped him walk better and even return to playing golf.(用户反馈称,他们感到更加自信和独立。
故选A。
【答案】36.G 37.D 38.F 39.E 40.B
【导语】本文是一篇说明文,聚焦日常交流中的填充词展开,介绍了填充词的定义、在维持对话节奏中的作用,同时区分了不同场景下填充词的使用差异,针对正式场合和非正式场合的使用给出了具体说明,旨在帮助读者理解填充词的功能,把握其使用时机,实现更顺畅的人际交流。
【详解】36.根据上文“Those are called filler words, which are defined as words, sounds or phrases we use, often unintentionally, to fill pauses when we don’t know what to say.(这些被称为填充词,指的是我们在不知道该说什么时,常常无意识地用来填补停顿的词、声音或短语)”以及下文“you’ve probably noticed that different people use different filler words.(你可能已经注意到,不同的人会使用不同的填充词)”可知,空格处需承接前文对填充词的定义,引出“不同人使用不同填充词”这一现象,说明出现该现象的场景。G选项“If you’ve ever spoken to people from different regions or even been online. (如果你曾和来自不同地区的人交谈过,甚至在网上交流过)”精准承接前文,为后文“不同人使用不同填充词”的现象提供了合理场景,衔接自然,符合语境。故选G项。
37.根据上文“By talking to people, we can build a rhythm that allows us to deliver information, and filler words can be a great tool in maintaining conversational momentum.(通过与人交谈,我们可以建立一种节奏来传递信息,而填充词是维持对话势头的好工具)”以及下文“you have to have natural pauses. Filler words sometimes will serve that purpose for you.(对话中必须有自然的停顿,填充词有时会为你起到这个作用)”可知,空格处需引出“对话需要自然停顿”的前提,解释填充词发挥作用的场景。D选项“If you want to reflect when communicating with someone else.(如果你想在和别人交流时进行思考)”精准承接前文,说明在交流中需要思考的情况下,会产生停顿,进而需要填充词来填补,为后文填充词的作用做铺垫,符合语境。故选D项。
38.根据上文“However, whether you’re speaking in court or being interviewed, it’s often preferable to avoid using filler words because people might interpret empty words or phrases as your being unprepared. You can prevent that by practicing your presentation in advance.(然而,无论你是在法庭上发言还是接受采访,通常最好避免使用填充词,因为人们可能会将这些空洞的词或短语理解为你准备不足。你可以通过提前练习演讲来避免这种情况)”可知,前文强调正式场合最好避免使用填充词,空格处需进行转折,说明正式场合并非完全不能使用填充词,实现上下文的逻辑过渡。F选项“But being in a professional setting doesn’t mean you can’t use filler words.(但身处专业场合并不意味着你完全不能使用填充词)”以转折词“But”衔接前文,打破“正式场合完全不能用填充词”的绝对化表述,自然过渡到下文对专业场合合理使用填充词的说明,符合语境。故选F项。
39.根据上文““If I’m preparing to teach a class, I want to show I’m prepared and that I’m knowledgeable,” Corbo said. “But on the other hand, I want to ensure there’s interaction. I might pause. (Corbo说:“如果我准备上课,我想表现出自己的准备充分和学识渊博,但另一方面,我也想确保有互动,我可能会停顿一下”)”可知,空格处需承接前文Corbo教授的举例,具体说明他在停顿后如何使用填充词维持互动。E选项“I’ll often use‘so’ just to bring people into the conversation a little more.(我通常会用‘so’,只是为了让大家更投入到对话中来)”以第一人称“I”呼应前文Corbo教授的自述,具体举例说明填充词“so”的使用场景和作用,贴合前文“确保互动”的需求,符合语境。故选E项。
40.根据下文“If your audience have already given you trust and they want to be with you and be relaxed, it’s perfectly fine for you to use filler words. And it’s also OK to use filler words when you’re talking with trusted friends or family because you have an established relationship, noted Corbo.(Corbo指出,如果你的听众已经给予你信任,他们愿意和你在一起、感到放松,那么你使用填充词完全没问题。当你和信任的朋友或家人交谈时,使用填充词也可以,因为你们之间已经建立了良好的关系)”可知,本段主要围绕“何时适合使用填充词”展开,空格处需提出设问,引出本段的核心内容。B选项“So, what exactly is the right time to use filler words?(那么,究竟什么时候才是使用填充词的合适时机呢?)”以设问句开篇,直接点明本段主旨,下文内容均是对该问题的具体回答,衔接紧密,符合语境。故选B项。

(本题15分)阅读下面材料,在空白处填入适当的内容 (1个单词) 或括号内单词的正确形式。
【答案】
56.composed 57.who/that 58.from 59.entirely 60.a 61.representative 62.and 63.growing 64.were chosen 65.recognition
故填who/that。
58.考查介词。句意:其独特之处在于,它通过多种旋律来展现不同的角色,而且没有伴奏乐器,这一特点使其与其他叙事艺术有所区别。set apart from… 是固定搭配,意为“使……区别于……”。故填from。
故填a。
故填and。
故填were chosen。
65.考查名词。句意:如今,伊玛堪已获得国际认可,被列入联合国教科文组织急需保护的遗产名录。形容词“international”后应接名词,作“gained”的宾语,recognize的名词是recognition,意为“认可”,且为不可数名词。故填recognition。

【答案】
Dear Jim,
I am sorry to hear that you didn’t pass the HSK this time because of nervousness. Please don’t feel too discouraged — many people face similar challenges when taking important exams.
To help with test anxiety, here are two simple tips that work for me. First, try deep breathing: take a slow breath in, hold for a few seconds, and breathe out gently. It really calms the mind. Second, break your study time into short blocks, like 25 minutes of focus followed by a 5-minute break. This keeps your brain fresh and reduces stress.
Remember, this is just one attempt. You’ve already made great progress in learning Chinese, and I’m sure you’ll do better next time.
Yours,
Li Hua

六、书面表达
67.(本题25分)阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整 的短文。
注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

To Mason’s surprise, no one laughed. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】One possible version:
After class, Mason showed his text to Li Juan. Li Juan read it carefully and made a few small corrections, encouraging Mason all the time. With Li Juan’s help, Mason wrote some sentences and felt more confident. Later that day, the teacher collected all the texts and posted them on the notice board. When Mason saw his text among the others, his heart beat fast. He stood at a distance, watching his classmates read it quietly.
To Mason’s surprise, no one laughed. Instead, some students smiled and came up to him, asking him lots of questions about New Zealand. Their kindness warmed his heart. At that moment, Mason realized something important: mistakes were not something to be afraid of. They were part of learning. From then on, Mason no longer avoided writing. He kept a small notebook to copy new characters and asked classmates to correct his mistakes. Step by step, he started to believe in himself and enjoy his new school life in China.
