It was along this road that Stephen’s grandfather built a simple basket by attaching a piece of plastic to a telephone pole. Like his father, basketball star Dell Curry, Stephen spent many childhood hours playing on this muddy basketball court. With every shot, the weak plastic backboard gave way. The bumps and rocks that lined the road under the basket caused the ball to bounce in all directions. Knowing where the ball would go wasn’t easy. Only shots perfectly aimed at its centre went into the heavy, thick basket. In this way, practising day in and day out helped Stephen sharpen his skills. Despite his father’s successful career, Stephen was thought by many people, including his high school teammates and coaches, to be too short, too thin and too weak to follow in his father’s footsteps. But Stephen carried on. Playing basketball was his dream. He would not give up. He finally ended up playing college ball at a small, little-known school. Selected for the NBA in 2009, Stephen joined the Golden State Warriors. He performed beyond everyone’s expectations with his perfect shooting and continuous efforts. He’s led the Warriors to four championships since 2015 and received many MVP awards. Stephen explained his philosophy, “I never really set out to change the game… What I wanted to do was just be myself… You’ve got to be able to put in the time and the work. That’s how I got here.” Curry’s journey from an underdog to an NBA superstar inspires athletes worldwide. His focus on perfecting his skills influences fans of all ages. Curry’s story encourages young players to believe in their abilities and work tirelessly to achieve their dreams. 24.(10分)What can we know about Stephen Curry’s childhood basketball practice? (本题10分)Though it may look like an upper-body activity alone, rock climbing is a full-body workout that challenges the heart, lungs, brain, and whole musculoskeletal system (骨骼肌系统) simultaneously. “Rock climbing fires every system of the body and mind,” says Horodyskyj, a kinesiologist at Kansas State University. Other than its body challenges, climbing is also a mind game as every route (路线) needs strategy, memory, and creativity. “When climbing, you have to think several steps ahead, read the rock, plan your next move, stay calm under stress, and fit in when things don’t go as expected,” says Horodyskyj. Research further shows that climbing can reduce sadness and anxiety while lifting spirits and confidence thanks to the sport’s mix of mindful movement. Benefits like these help explain why climbing has developed into a multi-billion-dollar global sport. “With hundreds of indoor gyms now running across the U. S. and around the world, climbing has become a workout nearly everyone can enjoy,” says Horodyskyj. Like any challenging activity, climbing carries dangers — but most injuries are preventable with smart habits. The best prevention is thoughtful preparation. Warm-ups are necessary to ready your body. Extra carefulness is important for gym climbers moving to outdoor climbing for the first time. “There is much more unexpectedness than you experience indoors, so always begin the change with the help of an expert guide or an experienced climber,” advises Horodyskyj. “And dress for the weather. Bring water and snacks, and make sure someone knows where you’re going and when you’ll be back. ” Above all, climb mindfully. Long participation (参与) in climbing comes not just from strength, but from strategy. When it’s done right, the sport provides unique benefits that come from somewhere deep within. “Climbing satisfies a strong inner wish,” says Horodyskyj. “To move, to solve, to climb. ” 28.(10分)What does the underlined word “simultaneously” in paragraph 1 mean? A.On time. B.Now and then. C.At the same time. D.Sooner or later. 29.Why is climbing a mind game? A.It focuses on rock reading. B.It needs planning and adapting. C.It demands little body strength. D.It reduces sadness and anxiety. 30.What is paragraph 3 mainly about? A.The route of climbing. B.The challenge of climbing. C.The research of climbing. D.The popularity of climbing. 31.What is key to preventing danger in climbing? A.Dressing up simply. B.Avoiding changes. C.Strategic preparation. D.Strong inner power. (本题10分)Our bodies weren’t made to sit for hours in a classroom. That may be why many kids struggle to stay focused in school, often losing track of lessons. High-intensity (高强度) break exercises can help students focus better. Just a few minutes of activity improves brain function and learning, new research shows, offering a simple solution for classroom problems. Eric Drollette wondered how little exercise was needed to improve focus. He’s an exercise expert at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He led a team that designed a nine-minute, high-intensity break exercise program that could be done in a classroom without extra equipment. It uses short periods of heart-beating activity with short breaks in between. For example, high knees, star jumps, jumping jacks, hops and kicks. They described it in Psychology of Sport and Exercise, a leading academic journal. Twenty-five students aged 9 to 12 tried out the program. At Drollette’s lab, they wore a heart rate monitor (监测器) and an EEG hat that recorded brain activity in real time. Then they did the high-intensity break exercises, rode an exercise bike or watched a short video. After each activity, participants did some tests. One test showed five fish in a line on a screen, and kids had to note which direction the center fish faced. Other tests focused on math or language skills. During the fish test, the team noticed a change in what Drollette calls “the uh-oh mechanism” — when you realize you made a mistake. High-intensity exercise reduced that response, suggesting that exercise had made kids’ brains more efficient at processing information. Students also performed better on the language tests after the high-intensity workout. But they did a little worse at math. That could be from tiredness, which tends to affect higher-level thinking tasks, Drollette says. Being active can help with both mental and physical health, says Drollette. His recommendation: “Find opportunities to stand up and get moving, even for a few minutes, to keep your brain sharp and your body healthy.” 32.(10分)What is the nine-minute program designed for? A.Helping students get better at focusing. B.Training students’ physical strength. C.Making students more active in sports. D.Assisting students to relax after class. 33.What were the 25 students required to do in Drollette’s lab? A.They only did high-intensity exercise. B.They wore equipment to record brain activity. C.They did tests before doing any activity. D.They watched videos for a long time. 34.What effect did high-intensity break exercise have on students? A.It made students better at math. B.It reduced students’ tiredness. C.It improved students’ language tests. D.It made students’ brains slower. 35.Which of the following would be the best title for the passage? A.Short Breaks: A Cure for Students’ Tiredness B.High-Intensity Break Exercises: A Way to Improve Math C.Short Breaks: A Solution to Building Health D.High-Intensity Break Exercises: An Aid for Students’ Focus (本题12.5分)If you’re looking for ways to improve running, here are the best tips for getting better at running.    Stick to running. The key to getting better at running is to train frequently and consistently. Constant practice gives you time to perfect your form and commit it to muscle memory. 36(12.5分) If you are experienced, try at least 5 days a week.     Set a comfortable pace. If you run too fast, you’ll feel out of breath and you might want to finish your run. Instead, run slower than you need to. Pacing yourself can be one of the biggest challenges. 37     Warm up before and after you run. Before you start your workout, walk or jog slowly for 3 to 5 minutes to allow your muscles to get used to the activity. 38 After you reach your goal, walk or jog for 3 to 5 minutes to cool down, prevent blood from collecting in your legs, and allow your heart rate to decrease.      39 Combine other activities with your running routine to improve muscle endurance, build up your strength and keep you injury-free. Weight training, yoga and swimming are all good choices. You can include 1 to 2 hours of other training in your running volume.     Listen to your body and make adjustments (调整). 40 Even small changes in your breathing can be a sign to slow down or speed up. Tightness, pain, and discomfort are all signs to slow down, change your form, or stop and recover. A.Improve your running form. B.Go on running 1 or 2 km every day. C.Add other exercise forms to your running routine. D.Your body gives you important signs when you are running. E.This can help you find the perfect workout for your training. F.Gradually increase your speed until you can run comfortably. G.But you can judge your pace by whether you can easily say full sentences. Ever since childhood, I’d been passionate about performing solo I breathed deeply, expanding my lungs with fresh spring air. I was alive. I hadn’t been able to walk the entire distance around the lake a couple months before. I was just finishing up with treatments for stage three breast cancer when we started these walks. My body was weak and painful. My mind was foggy and forgetful. I would get lost easily if my husband wasn’t there with me. My husband, who heard my big breath intake, asked if I was okay. I opened my eyes, looked at the concerned expression on his face and smiled. I reassured him that I was indeed fine; normal in fact. In that moment I felt happy. As I was looking over at him, my eyes caught the sight of two women running. I focused on their movements. I watched with great attention as their feet hit the road in quickened movements. They wore black, pink and green athletic wear, smiling and laughing as they ran, they were happy that afternoon too. Walking was getting easier for me now. It wasn’t getting my heart-rate up anymore. My doctor said I needed a good workout for my heart. In the days that followed, I couldn’t stop thinking about running. With encouragement from my husband, I signed up for a learn-to-run class. On the first day of classes, we were to do intervals (间隙) of running one minute, followed by walking for two minutes. That sounded easy enough. My enthusiasm soon turned to shock and panic. About 30 seconds into the run, I couldn’t breathe. I was struggling to get enough air in. My heart was pounding. I could hear the pulses in my ears. Sweat was forming onto my forehead and under my arms, making me uncomfortable. How could this be healthy? I wondered. I felt like I was having a heart attack. Doubt flooded inside my head. I was so out of shape and felt silly for being there. I am not sure why I went back to the second class. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ That race inspired something in me. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 试卷第1页,共3页 试卷第1页,共3页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 2 / 2 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 高中英语单元测试 —— Unit 3 Sports and Fitness(较易版02) 学校:___________姓名:___________班级:___________考号:___________ 一、听力选择题 1.(本题1.5分)When does the woman usually practise yoga? C.Focusing only on building muscles. 20.How often does the speaker suggest people do hard workouts? A.Once a week. B.Twice a week. C.Three times a week. 【答案】18.A 19.A 20.B 【原文】W: Welcome to Star Fitness Club. I’m Tina Harrison. Before you start working out, I’d like to offer some tips. We all know regular exercise is important, but few know how to do it properly. I’ve seen many people make the same mistakes here. One common mistake is sticking to the same workout routine. It’s bad for muscle growth. I suggest changing your routine every two months. Also, try different workouts like jogging, biking, or swimming. This helps keep your whole body fit. Another mistake is working out too hard almost every day. Your body needs breaks to let your muscles recover and grow. It’s not about how hard you exercise, but how smart. Two intense workout days every week are enough. If you really hate to skip a day, do light exercises on other days. D.Basketball skill. 27.What can we learn from Curry’s story? A.Hard work pays off. B.Natural talent finds its way. C.Education is the key to success. D.Family support makes champions. 【答案】24.D 25.A 26.B 27.A 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。 根据第二段中的“Like his father, basketball star Dell Curry, Stephen spent many childhood hours playing on this muddy basketball court. With every shot, the weak plastic backboard gave way. The bumps and rocks that lined the road under the basket caused the ball to bounce in all directions. Knowing where the ball would go wasn’t easy. Only shots perfectly aimed at its centre went into the heavy, thick basket. In this way, practising day in and day out helped Stephen sharpen his skills.(和他的父亲、篮球明星戴尔·库里一样,斯蒂芬童年时在这个泥泞的篮球场上度过了许多时光。每次投篮,脆弱的塑料篮板都会变形。篮筐下方道路两旁的凸起和石头让球弹向四面八方。要知道球会落到哪里并不容易。只有精准瞄准中心的投篮才能进入那个沉重厚实的篮筐。通过这种方式,日复一日的练习帮助斯蒂芬提高了他的技能)”可知,斯蒂芬·库里童年时的练球条件十分艰苦,但他正是在这样的条件下不断进步,提升了自己的球技。故选D项。 25.细节理解题。根据第三段中的“Despite his father’s successful career, Stephen was thought by many people, including his high school teammates and coaches, to be too short, too thin and too weak to follow in his father’s footsteps.(尽管他的父亲职业生涯很成功,但包括他的高中队友和教练在内的许多人都认为斯蒂芬太矮、太瘦、太弱,无法追随他父亲的脚步)”可知,许多人质疑斯蒂芬,是因为他们认为斯蒂芬的身体条件不适合打篮球,无法像他父亲一样取得成功。故选A项。 26. 根据第五段中的“Stephen explainedhis philosophy, “I never really set out to change the game…What I wanted to do was just be myself…You’ve got to be able to put in the time and the work. That’s how I got here.”(斯蒂芬解释了他的philosophy:“我从未真正打算改变这项运动……我想做的只是做我自己……你必须能够投入时间和努力。这就是我走到今天的原因。”)”可知,斯蒂芬后面说的话是他对待人生和工作的态度、信念,因此划线词philosophy应意为“人生和工作信念”。故选B项。 27.推理判断题。根据全文内容,结合第二段“practising day in and day out helped Stephen sharpen his skills.(日复一日的练习帮助斯蒂芬提高了他的技能)”、第四段“He performed beyond everyone’s expectations with his perfect shooting and continuous efforts.(凭借完美的投篮和持续的努力,他的表现超出了所有人的预期)”以及第五段“You’ve got to be able to put in the time and the work. That’s how I got here.(你必须能够投入时间和努力。这就是我走到今天的原因)”可知,斯蒂芬·库里童年时在艰苦条件下坚持练球,克服他人质疑,凭借不懈的努力和付出,最终成为NBA超级巨星。由此我们可以从他的故事中学会:努力终有回报。故选A项。 (本题10分)Though it may look like an upper-body activity alone, rock climbing is a full-body workout that challenges the heart, lungs, brain, and whole musculoskeletal system (骨骼肌系统) simultaneously. I breathed deeply, expanding my lungs with fresh spring air. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: I am not sure why I went back to the second class. That first class was embarrassing for me. I struggled at the back of the group. I wondered if I would pass out or have to walk back. But I tend to finish what I start. So, I went to each and every one of those run classes. I persevered and progressed, continuing to hang out at the back of the group. I was the slowest runner in the class. And after 12 weeks of run classes, I ran my first 5 km fundraiser for breast cancer research. I crossed the finish line with tears streaming down my face. They were happy tears of celebration. I did it! That race inspired something in me. It is a passion to overcome physical hardship. I craved more. I was regaining control of my body and my life after cancer. Now I want to help others discover their potential for healthy living. I believe the path to healing our body, mind and spirit is through being active, eating nutritious food and mindfulness. So, I have gone back to school to become a certified health coach specializing in helping people with cancer. With my science background, I founded a website to share information, inspiration and tools to empower people to transform their lives, like I did. It is possible to be healthy and happy after cancer. 词汇激活 行为类 ①完成:finish/complete/accomplish ②开始:start/begin ③克服:overcome/surmount/conquer ④改变:transform/change 情绪类 ①使人难堪的:embarrassing/shameful/shaming ②高兴的:happy/delighted/joyful 【点睛】[高分句型1] I wondered if I would pass out or have to walk back.
