In some Chinese schools, competitions are held where the student who can accurately recite the most digits of pi wins. In Germany, schools encourage students to express their artistic talents through art displays centered around pi, ranging from pi-inspired paintings to mathematical sculptures. B (本题10分)Wilson noted the people whom he admired in his autobiography. They are individuals who “concentrate all the courage and self-discipline they possess toward a single worthy goal: explorers, mountain climbers, military heroes, and a very few scientists.” Wilson’s formula for being a hero is simple but difficult to follow. You need to “drive toward discouraging goals with nerves dealt with failure and a willingness to accept pain.” You need to be a scientist like Philip Jackson Darlington, one of Wilson’s early heroes. In the 1940s, Darlington was in pursuit of insects in the jungles of Papua New Guinea in the southwest Pacific. A crocodile (鳄鱼) took him in its jaws and dragged him underwater. He escaped, but his right hand was permanently injured. Yet he went on to greatly expand our knowledge of the insects of Papua New Guinea and other parts of the world. “I acknowledge,” Wilson told us, “that to fight off a crocodile is an act of survival, not proof of character. But to go where crocodiles live is.” When Wilson was 23 and ready to set off on his first field trip to collect insects in the tropics (热带地区), he went to Darlington for advice. “Most people,” Darlington shared, “take it easy when they go in the field.” He told Wilson not to stay on the trails but to walk in a straight line through the forest. “Try to go over any barrier you meet,” he advised. “It’s hard, but it’s the best way to collect.” Darlington’s advice for ant collecting might be considered a metaphor for the way Wilson began his career and lived for nine decades. Life can be hard. Steel yourself to it; face its challenges. Do not fear — the hard way is the right way. Be brave, be driven, and keep your mind and best eye open. 24.(10分)Why could Darlington be Wilson’s hero? A.He discovered new species. B.He funded Wilson’s first trip. C.He pursued science fearlessly. D.He taught Wilson about insects. 25.What do Wilson’s words in Paragraph 3 mean? A.Fighting crocodiles defines a hero. B.Surviving an accident is pure luck. C.Scientists should avoid risky places. D.Choosing to face danger is courageous. 26.What was Darlington’s suggestion for field research? A.Focus on collecting common insects. B.Go straight and overcome obstacles. C.Follow the established trails for safety. D.Take it easy and avoid difficult barriers. 27.What is the main message of the text? A.A list of personal heroes. B.A warning about research risks. C.An inspiration to face difficulties. D.A record of scientific achievements. 根据第二段“Wilson’s formula for being a hero is simple but difficult to follow. You need to “drive toward discouraging goals with nerves dealt with failure and a willingness to accept pain.” You need to be a scientist like Philip Jackson Darlington, one of Wilson’s early heroes.(威尔逊成为英雄的准则简单却难以遵循。 根据第三段““I acknowledge,” Wilson told us, “that to fight off a crocodile is an act of survival, not proof of character. But to go where crocodiles live is.”(“我承认,”威尔逊告诉我们,“与鳄鱼搏斗是一种生存行为,并非彰显个性的表现。但去鳄鱼出没的地方却是真的对品格的证明。”)”可知,威尔逊在第三段中的这番话意味着选择面对危险就是勇敢的表现。故选D。 26.细节理解题。根据第四段““Most people,” Darlington shared, “take it easy when they go in the field.” He told Wilson not to stay on the trails but to walk in a straight line through the forest. “Try to go over any barrier you meet,” he advised. “It’s hard, but it’s the best way to collect.”(达林顿说道:“大多数人在进入野外时都会放松下来。” 根据第四段““Most people,” Darlington shared, “take it easy when they go in the field.” He told Wilson not to stay on the trails but to walk in a straight line through the forest. “Try to go over any barrier you meet,” he advised. “It’s hard, but it’s the best way to collect.”(达林顿说道:“大多数人在进入野外时都会放松下来。” C。 C For former Chinese women’s soccer player Zhao Lina, her story began not under stadium lights but in the dusty schoolyard of Jinshajiang Road Primary School in Shanghai’s Putuo District. Now 33, she still remembers joining the school soccer team in first grade — the tallest among all her teammates. The coach lined everyone up by height, and Zhao stood at the end of the line. Impressed by her height, the coach decided she should be a goalkeeper. But she never imagined one day she would step onto the international stage. In the beginning, her only fan was her father. A decade later, she stood on the world stage at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, wearing the red jersey of China. She then felt the pure joy of playing, with the thunderous cheers from the packed stadium forever unforgettable. One of her most unforgettable matches came in 2022, when China made a stunning 3-2 comeback against South Korea to reclaim the AFC Women’s Asian Cup after 16 years. It was the perfect high point and a year later, Zhao announced her retirement, closing an 18-year career. After retiring from Team China in 2023, former goalkeeper Zhao Lina never truly walked away from the soccer field. Instead, she found a new mission — bringing soccer to children in China’s rural areas. Through her soccer charity program, Zhao plans to visit 100 remote schools, build fields, donate equipment, organize leagues and train local physical education teachers to coach. In the 10 months since her retirement, she has already helped build four soccer fields and deliver equipment to 40 schools. Alongside her charity work, Zhao has also stepped into journalism. She served as a reporter for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. “Life isn’t a straight line,” she reflects. “Even athletes have peaks and declines. But when the next rise comes — if you’ve prepared enough and give your all — you’ll surpass your last peak. That’s what life and soccer have taught me.” 28.(0分)How was Zhao Lina first chosen to be a goalkeeper? A.She was recognized for her natural talent. B.She was encouraged by her father. C.She was drawn to the position herself. D.She was selected because of her height. 29.What is the goal of Zhao Lina’s charity work? A.To encourage more PE teachers to play soccer. B.To improve the soccer conditions in rural areas. C.To help soccer team of China win more matches. D.To keep herself away from the soccer field. 30.How is the passage mainly organized? A.By comparing her early and later life. B.By listing the challenges from her career. C.By following the time order of her life. D.By showing the procedures of her work. 31.Which saying best describes Zhao Lina’s story? A.Every ending leads to a new beginning. B.Life begins at the end of comfort zone. C.Time and tide wait for no man. D.Failure is the mother of success. 根据第二段“The coach lined everyone up by height, and Zhao stood at the end of the line. Impressed by her height, the coach decided she should be a goalkeeper. 根据第五段“Instead, she found a new mission — bringing soccer to children in China's rural areas. Through her soccer charity program, Zhao plans to visit 100 remote schools, build fields, donate equipment, organize leagues and train local physical education teachers to coach. 根据最后一段““Life isn’t a straight line,” she reflects. “Even athletes have peaks and declines. But when the next rise comes — if you’ve prepared enough and give your all — you’ll surpass your last peak. That’s what life and soccer have taught me.”. D The Internet plays a big part in human life. We use it for work and pleasure. We use it to learn a new language. We find advice on it. We use it to connect with family and friends. We use it to stay in touch with events we care about. The list goes on and on. As far as the Internet being a part of our lives, that train has left the station. This expression means there is no going back to an Internet-free life. But can using the Internet too much be bad for our health? It might be, say researchers. A new study finds that heavy Internet use may be connected to high blood pressure in a young group: teenagers. The study results show that teens who spend at least 14 hours a week online may get high blood pressure, which makes their heart and blood vessels (血管) work too hard. Over time, this extra pressure increases their risk of a heart attack. High blood pressure can also cause heart and other diseases. The Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan did the study. 335 young people, from 14 to 17 years old, took part in it. 134 of the teens were described as “heavy Internet users”. And researchers found that out of these 134 teens, 26 had high blood pressure. The researchers said the study was the first to connect heavy web use with high blood pressure. The lead researcher is Andrea Cassidy Bushrow. She said, “Using the Internet is part of our daily life, but it shouldn’t ruin us.” Ms Cassidy Bushrow adds that it is important for teens to take regular breaks from their computers or smartphones and do some kind of physical activity. She also suggests that parents shouldn’t let their children use the Internet for more than two hours a day, five days a week. 32.(0分)By mentioning the Internet in Paragraph 1, the author wants to show that ________. A.people only use the Internet for entertainment B.few people rely on the Internet to get information C.the Internet serves various needs in people’s daily life D.the Internet cannot help people keep in touch 33.What does the underlined sentence “that train has left the station” in Paragraph 2 mean? A.We can’t return to a life without the Internet. B.Trains are no longer a popular means of transport. C.People are tired of using the Internet every day. D.The Internet has brought many new problems. 34.What can we infer about Andrea Cassidy Bushrow’s opinion? A.Teens must stop using the Internet completely. B.Proper rest and exercise are good for teen Internet users. C.Parents should forbid kids to use smartphones at home. D.Using computers is much safer than using phones. 35.What does the passage mainly talk about? A.Practical advice on how to treat high blood pressure. B.The Internet plays an important part in teenagers’ lives. C.Too much Internet use may be bad for teenagers. D.Every coin has two sides — so does the Internet. 根据第一段中“We use it for work and pleasure. We use it to learn a new language. We find advice on it. We use it to connect with family and friends.(我们用它来工作和娱乐,用它来学习一门新语言,在上面寻找建议,用它来联系家人和朋友)”可知,作者在第一段提到互联网是为了展示互联网满足了人们日常生活中的各种需求。 33. 根据第二段中“This expression means there is no going back to an Internet-free life.(这个表达意味着我们无法回到没有互联网的生活)”可知,“that train has left the station”意为“我们无法回到没有互联网的生活”。 34. 根据最后一段中“She said, “Using the Internet is part of our daily life, but it shouldn’t ruin us.” Ms Cassidy Bushrow adds that it is important for teens to take regular breaks from their computers or smartphones and do some kind of physical activity.(她说:“使用互联网是我们日常生活的一部分,但它不应该毁了我们。” 根据第二段中“But can using the Internet too much be bad for our health? It might be, say researchers. A new study finds that heavy Internet use may be connected to high blood pressure in a young group: teenagers.(但是过度使用互联网会对我们的健康有害吗? E (本题12.5分)AI tools regularly make mistakes and make up sources. By some estimates, over half of AI-driven answers have factual errors. Children’s exposure to misleading information online isn’t new. 36(12.5分) Even children who are online only for short periods likely see false or inaccurate information. Here’s how to help them spot it. 37 Any parent knows the feeling of being caught in a never-ending loop (循环) of whys from their kid. 38 Provide informative answers, but build their thought processes, too. “Great question, what do you think? What makes you think that? How would we find out what’s right?” You’ll develop their critical thinking by emphasizing the process of reasoning, not just the outcome. Encourage skepticism (怀疑). Children’s skepticism is context-specific. My colleagues and I have demonstrated, for example, that even four-year-olds show basic fact-checking abilities in digital contexts under the right circumstances. When they notice that a platform contained some misinformation in the past, they seek out more evidence before accepting a new claim. 39 For example, if you come across a doubtful AI summary, comment on it out loud. Practice strategic disengagement (脱离). Critical thinking is slow and deliberate. Scrolling through a social media feed is quite the opposite. Even when a questionable post arouses skepticism, that feeling might fade as soon as a newer piece of content appears. 40 Taking frequent breaks can stop the habit of endless, passive consumption. Another simple strategy is to teach children that if something arouses strong emotions, they should pause. A.Use children’s natural curiosity. B.But now AI has worsened the problem. C.When that desire to learn strikes, join in. D.Evaluate the quality of children’s questions. E.Show your child you also doubt things online. F.Ultimately, kids’ presence in the digital landscape is a reality. G.Parents can help children learn when to slow down and reflect. 由上文“Children’s exposure to misleading information online isn’t new. (儿童接触网络误导信息并非新鲜事)”可知,本空需承接“网络误导信息”这一话题;由后文“Even children who are online only for short periods likely see false or inaccurate information. B选项“But now AI has worsened the problem. 37.由后文“Any parent knows the feeling of being caught in a never-ending loop of whys from their kid. (任何家长都知道被孩子无休止的“为什么”困住的感觉)”及“Great question, what do you think? What makes you think that? A选项“Use children’s natural curiosity. 故选A。 38.由上文“being caught in a never-ending loop of whys from their kid (被孩子无休止的“为什么”困住)”可知,本空需说明家长面对孩子好奇心的做法;由后文“Provide informative answers, but build their thought processes, too. The notes were like soft whispers, making me feel calm. But when I had to play in front of others at school, I lost this joy. Last week, our class held a small talent show in the classroom. I was so nervous that my hands shook while playing, missing three notes in a row. After that, everyone fell quiet—it was so awkward. Since then, I’ve been scared of making mistakes. My fingers get stiff (僵硬的) when I practice for school performances, and just thinking about stepping onto the school auditorium (礼堂) stage makes my heart beat fast. I worry one wrong note will ruin the music and let my classmates and teacher down. To get over this fear, I joined the school’s orchestra (管弦乐队) last month. On the first day, our conductor Mr. Hale told us, “In two weeks, we’ll have a performance on the school auditorium stage for the whole grade.” Everyone cheered, but I felt sick. I even froze up when practicing in front of 10 orchestra members — this big stage scared me. A few days later, my friend Mia saw me practicing alone in the music classroom. She showed me a video: Joshua Bell, a great violinist, played in a busy train station. He wore a simple shirt and used an expensive violin, but most people walked by. What touched me most was how he closed his eyes and played like music was part of him. “He plays for the music itself, not the audience’s attention,” Mia said softly. I practiced harder after watching that video. I asked Mr. Hale to let me play Bell’s piece in the grade performance. He said yes: “Good music comes from your heart, not from avoiding fear. ” I marked hard parts with colored pens and even practiced in front of my desk-mate. When I wanted to give up, Mia said, “Just play what you feel — don’t worry about being perfect.” Today is the day of the performance. The school auditorium is filled with students. After the orchestra’s first two pieces, Mr. Hale looked at me and nodded — it’s my turn to play. Mia patted me on the shoulder and smiled, and I walked onto the school auditorium stage. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Halfway through the performance, I accidentally played a wrong note. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【范文】 Mia patted me on the shoulder and smiled, and I walked onto the school auditorium stage. I gripped my violin tightly, my fingers still a little stiff. Then I saw Mia in the front row—she mouthed “you got this” and gave me a thumbs-up. I took a deep breath, closed my eyes for a moment, and remembered what Joshua Bell did: play for the music, not the crowd. When I put the bow to the strings, the first note sounded clearer than I expected. The nervousness slowly faded, and I started to focus on how the music felt, not on whether I’d make a mistake. Halfway through the performance, I accidentally played a wrong note. I kept going, just like I practiced with my desk-mate. To my surprise, the mistake didn’t ruin the music — it felt like a small pause before the melody continued. When I finished the last note, the auditorium was quiet for a second, then broke into applause. Mia was cheering the loudest. Mr. Hale smiled and nodded at me. I walked off stage, my hands no longer stiff. I realized that playing in front of others isn’t about being perfect — it’s about sharing the music I love. 词汇激活 行为类 ①消失:fade/ vanish ②集中精力于:focus on/concentrate on ③意识到:realize/be aware of 情绪类 ①紧张:nervousness/anxiety ②惊讶:surprise/astonishment 【点睛】【高分句型1】When I put the bow to the strings, the first note sounded clearer than I expected.(运用了when引导的时间状语从句) 【高分句型2】I realized that playing in front of others isn’t about being perfect — it’s about sharing the music I love.(运用了that引导的宾语从句和省略关系代词that的定语从句修饰先行词music) 试卷第1页,共3页 试卷第1页,共3页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 2 / 2 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 高中英语单元测试 —— Unit 1 Teenage Life(较难版01) 学校:___________姓名:___________班级:___________考号:___________ 一、听力选择题 1.(本题1.5分)What are the speakers mainly talking about? C For former Chinese women’s soccer player Zhao Lina, her story began not under stadium lights but in the dusty schoolyard of Jinshajiang Road Primary School in Shanghai’s Putuo District. 三、完形填空 (本题15分)One day Susie Smith came home from school, looking upset. A recent study goes a step further: Make discomfort a direct goal. That’s more likely to motivate you 56(15分) if you only focus on what you hope to learn. In the first of five experiments, the researchers assigned several hundred students training at Second City Chicago 57 (participate) in a small-group improvisation(即兴) exercise, and then instructed half of the group that their goal during the session was “to feel awkward and uncomfortable.” The rest, 58 (that) in the control group, 59 (tell) to “feel yourself developing new skills.” Members of the first group kept at the exercise longer than the others did and took 60 (great) risks. Experiments 61 (involve) other dimensions of personal growth—engaging in expressive writing, learning about gun violence, and hearing about opposing political 62 (belief)—produced similar results. Reframing anxiety as excitement has been proven a way to improve singing in front of strangers, and thinking of stress as 63 means to boost achievement demonstrated a stress-management technique. “When people reinterpret negative experiences as 64 (function), they are more willing to engage in tasks that call forth those experiences,” the researchers explain. “Instead of seeing discomfort as unrelated to the goal 65 a signal to stop, they will start perceiving it as a sign of progress toward their goal.” Dear Tom, ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Yours, Li Hua 六、书面表达 67.(本题25分)阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Once, the violin was my favorite. Every evening after homework, I sat by the window to play. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Mia patted me on the shoulder and smiled, and I walked onto the school auditorium stage. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Halfway through the performance, I accidentally played a wrong note. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 试卷第1页,共3页 试卷第1页,共3页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 2 / 2 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
