The survey, completed in January 2026, set out to identify the dominant learning styles of today’s undergraduates, measure student demand for different types of multimodal (多模态) course materials, and explore the link between multimodal learning and academic performance and engagement. Learning Style Preference This shift in learning styles has directly translated into a growing demand for course materials, as students seek out content that not only conveys information but also engages them in ways that match how they best process and internalize knowledge. The following data quantifies student demand for different types of multimodal course materials accordingly. Demand for Multimodal Course Materials The survey also uncovered a clear link between the use of multimodal learning materials and key educational outcomes, including academic performance and classroom engagement. “This survey confirms that undergraduate learning has entered a new multimodal era — students no longer want to be passive consumers of text-based content. Educators and institutions that adapt to this shift by providing diverse, visual and interactive materials will see significant improvements in student success and engagement, and will better prepare students for the diverse, digital world they will enter upon graduation,” said Overdrive CEO Steve Potash. 21.What percentage do visual and kinesthetic learners account for in 2025? A.40%. B.49%. C.51%. D.73%. 22.Which multimodal course materials do undergraduate students like most? A.Audio podcasts. B.Video lectures. C.Interactive infographics. D.Traditional print textbooks. 23.What does Steve think of the shift of learning style preference? A.It is worthy to be accepted. B.It relies on text-based materials. C.It is a short-lived tendency. D.It lowers classroom engagement. B (本题10分)During my first year of high school, I was a typical bookworm. I spent nearly all my time sitting at my desk, studying late into the night. However, my grades were only average, and I often felt sleepy and unfocused in class. My father, a former athlete, noticed my condition and suggested I start exercising every day. “Your brain needs a healthy body to work well,” he said. I doubted him but decided to give it a try. I began with a simple plan: a 30-minute run every morning before school. The first week was terrible. My legs hurt, my lungs burned, and I wanted to stop after ten minutes. But I forced myself to continue. Gradually, my body adapted. After two weeks, I no longer felt exhausted after running. Instead, I felt energetic and clear-headed. I noticed that during morning classes, I could concentrate much better than before. I stopped yawning and started taking active notes. One month later, our midterm exams arrived. To my great surprise, my overall score jumped from C+ to B.My history teacher even praised my improved memory. I realized that exercise had not only strengthened my body but also sharpened my mind. I continued my morning runs for the rest of the semester. By the final exams, my average had risen to B+, and I was full of energy every day. That experience taught me a lifelong lesson: physical activity and academic success go hand in hand. Now, whenever a friend complains about poor grades, I always advise them to get moving. Sometimes, the best way to study is to take a break and run. 24.(10分)What can be inferred about the author’s attitude toward his father’s advice at the beginning? A.He fully agreed with it. B.He was doubtful but willing to try. C.He thought it was completely wrong. D.He had already been following it. 25.What change did the author notice after two weeks of morning running? A.He felt more tired during class. B.His legs hurt more than before. C.He felt energetic and clear-headed. D.He decided to stop running forever. 26.What is the author’s purpose in writing this passage? A.To prove that studying is useless without exercise. B.To encourage students to include physical activity in their daily routine. C.To describe how difficult it is to wake up early. D.To complain about his poor grades in high school. 27.What is the main idea of the passage? A.Students should study as long as possible every night. B.Regular exercise can improve concentration and academic performance. C.Only former athletes can give good advice on studying. D.Morning runs are the most difficult form of exercise. C (本题10分)Exams are nerve-racking. The silence of the hall; the ticking of the clock, it is not surprising that anxious test-takers often perform worse than others. Yet recent research in Psychological Science by Maria Theobald at the Leibniz Institute and her workmates suggests that it is not the pressure of the exam hall which causes the problem. It is the pressure of revision. Dr Theobald supposed that if anxiety limited students’ ability to apply known information, highly anxious students would perform worse in real exams than in mocks (模拟考试) or online practice. She therefore worked with 309 German medical students who were preparing for their final state exam. This test includes 230 questions divided into three five-hour periods over three days. During the 100 days before the actual papers, all her volunteers used a digital-learning platform which presented them with old exam questions and recorded their performance. They also took a mock exam 40 days ahead. To assess their levels of anxiety, the research team asked the volunteers to rate their anxiety on a five-point scale in the run up to the real exam and on the day of that exam. Unexpectedly, anxiety on the test day did not predict exam performance at all. What did predict it was the level of knowledge a student displayed in the mock exam and the earlier digital-learning activities. Those who performed well in these also did well in the real exam, regardless of how anxious they were on the day, because the greater a student’s anxiety in the days before the exam, the lower his or her knowledge-gain was during that period, leaving that student with less material to reproduce during the exam itself. This is a positive discovery, for it suggests a change of approach to revision by the anxious test-takers might help improve their results. To reduce the anxiety, Dr Theobald proposes a two-fold strategy for students as they review. First, they can raise their belief in their own abilities by reminding themselves of just how much they know. Second, they can diminish the significance of the test by reminding themselves that, while it is important, it is not a life or death situation. It really isn’t. 28.(10分)What is the key finding of Dr Theobald’s research? A.Anxious students hate taking exams. B.Real exam pressure causes poor scores. C.Pressure of revision affects exam results. D.Mocks are more difficult than real exams. 29.What did the volunteers do in the research? A.They answered old exam questions online. B.They had a mock 100 days before the exam. C.They used a digital platform to reduce anxiety. D.They took a five-hour exam every three days. 30.What does the underlined word “diminish” in the last paragraph mean? A.Weaken. B.Stress. C.Ignore. D.Prove. 31.What can we learn from the last paragraph? A.Taking an exam has a lifelong influence on students. B.Practicing exam-taking skills in revision is important. C.Building confidence can make a difference in an exam. D.Developing a good memory can reduce students’ anxiety. D (本题10分)Enough sleep is very important for teenagers’ physical and mental development. During the teenage years, the body grows fast and the brain becomes more mature (成熟的) day by day. Sleep gives the body and brain the rest they need to get back energy, which directly influences teenagers’ daily study efficiency and physical health. Many health experts point out that not getting enough sleep not only makes teenagers feel tired and sleepy during the day, but also affects their long-term development. According to guidelines (指南) from the Health Ministry, teenagers aged 13 to 18 should sleep 8 to 10 hours every night. However, a recent survey of 2,000 teenagers shows that more than 60% of them sleep less than 7 hours a day. The main reasons include staying up late to use electronic devices, too much homework that usually takes over two hours to finish, and irregular daily schedules. Experts remind that staying up late will affect the production of melatonin — a hormone (激素) that controls sleep and helps growth — which may lead to poor sleep quality and slow physical growth. Besides affecting the body, lack of sleep also harms teenagers’ mental health. It may make them more likely to feel worried, angry or even sad when facing small problems. What’s more, poor sleep will greatly reduce their ability to focus in class and remember new things. That’s why many students who often stay up late find it hard to follow teachers’ lessons and keep new knowledge in mind. On the other hand, teenagers with good sleep habits are usually more energetic in daily life and do better in their studies. To improve teenagers’ sleep quality, schools should give homework properly to reduce students’ study stress. Parents should help their children form regular daily schedules, such as limiting time spent on electronic devices before bed. Teenagers themselves should understand the importance of sleep and try to go to bed and get up on time. Only with enough sleep can teenagers grow up healthily and study well. 32.(10分)What does the first paragraph tell us about teenagers’ sleep? A.Poor sleep mainly harms teens’ mental health. B.Enough sleep plays a key role in teens’ health. C.Lack of sleep causes brain problems among teens. D.Sleep has little influence on teens’ study efficiency. 33.What does the survey suggest? A.Less homework ensures sleep quality. B.Most teens meet the health guidelines. C.Teens’ health suffers from lack of sleep. D.Melatonin leads to better learning results. 34.What can we infer about good sleep from the text? A.It supports teenagers’ school success. B.It makes learning easier for teenagers. C.It ensures teenagers’ life achievements. D.It helps teenagers manage their feelings. 35.What can be a suitable title for the text? A.How Lost Sleep Damages Teenagers’ Health B.Healthy Sleep Powers Teenagers’ Well-being C.Leading Causes of Teenagers’ Lack of Sleep D.Approaches to Quality Sleep for Teenagers E (本题12.5分)Studying a subject that you feel pointless is never fun. 36 The answer is clear. History is essential in human civilization. Learning history helps you learn its significance. History grounds us in our roots. History is an interesting field of study, and learning the history of our homeland can offer a deeper glimpse into our pasts. 37 Many people feel like they need a sense of cultural belonging, which is about studying your roots and being open-minded to the today’s evolution. 38 Reading history is an amazing experience because it enables us to reflect on the social and economic life of the people living long time ago. Experts argue that problems faced by people regardless of the past and present are the same. With the information about the ancestors, one can become more experienced in handling challenges of life. History makes us more empathetic (共情的). Studying history can give us insight into why our culture does certain things, and how the past has shaped it into what we know now. It also provides a strong foundation for empathy across cultures. Fear and hate for others is usually caused by ignorance. 39 History can break down those boundaries. History can inspire us to learn more. What’s fantastic about history is the way it broadens horizons. It’s impossible to learn about one historical period without knowing related concepts. Study the 19th century England, and you’ll be amazed by Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist. 40 Or maybe you end up switching your attention away from his novels, and discover the history of England. The value of history cannot be underestimated. We don’t have to live in the past, but we can definitely do better by learning from it and using the lessons learnt to lead more meaningful lives. A.History enriches our experience. B.History helps us behave like ancestors. C.We’re scared of the things that we don’t understand. D.And it also leads to how we got to where we are today. E.If you’re studying history, ask yourself why history is important. F.This book is so attractive that it enjoys popularity in the past and present. G.Look up Charles Dickens, and you might learn a thing or two about realism. 三、完形填空 (本题15分)My name is Tom. I’m a student in Grade One. I used to be a 41 student. These contests were related to spelling, short story writing, recitation and more. Our teacher appointed me to be the representative of the whole ninth grade in the short story contest. She said that I had potential in terms of creative thinking because she had read my fiction. Actually, I did not expect that and was shocked since I did not have experience being one of the contestants of any contests. And I was also unconfident in terms of joining any event in our school. Even though I refused to join in the contest, my teacher was still encouraging me and she said I just needed to believe in myself and the talent that I had. I was not that convinced of what my teacher said, but I finally gave in to her insistence. Then I decided to make myself ready through practicing more in writing short stories. My teacher also advised that I needed to be more confident and knowledgeable in the contest that I was going to join in. The days leading up to the contest were filled with anxiety and self-doubt. I spent countless hours researching, writing a draft, and revising my story, constantly questioning whether it was good enough. On the day of the contest, my nervousness reached its peak as I entered the competition room. The room was filled with fellow participants, all seeming confident and prepared. The pressure was immense (巨大的), as we were all aware of the strict rule: we had only one hour to create our short story once the topic was released. The results would be revealed in one month. C.Graduates who want to get a Master’s degree. 【答案】18.C 19.A 20.A 【原文】 I’m Suci, an Indian student. After I graduated from a university in my homeland, I went to study abroad. I finished my Master’s degree in Denmark and Doctor’s degree in Sweden. This experience has taught me a lot. When you study abroad, the first thing you might notice are the many differences between people. But in a strange way, you also start to see that all of these differences are also universal and people in many ways are the same everywhere. Studying abroad gives you the opportunity to really understand people from different culture background and when you make friends, you learn to hug people’s perfections alongside their shortcomings. This blessing of knowing many people from many cultural backgrounds taught me to understand myself better, and the importance of deepening my soft-skills. Do you also have a dream of studying abroad? You can keep what I said in mind. 二、阅读理解 A (本题7.5分)Leading digital learning platforms Libby and Kanopy conducted a comprehensive 2025 survey of 3,500 undergraduate students across 50 universities in the United States and Canada. 21.(7.5分)What percentage do visual and kinesthetic learners account for in 2025? A.40%. B.49%. C.51%. 根据最后一段““This survey confirms that undergraduate learning has entered a new multimodal era — students no longer want to be passive consumers of text-based content. 【答案】28.C 29.A 30.A 31.C 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。主要介绍西奥博尔德博士的研究发现,考试发挥不佳的原因并非考场压力,而是复习阶段的压力,还给出了缓解复习焦虑的相关策略。 【详解】28.细节理解题。根据第一段中的“Yet recent research in Psychological Science by Maria Theobald at the Leibniz Institute and her workmates suggests that it is not the pressure of the exam hall which causes the problem. It is the pressure of revision.(然而,莱布尼茨研究所的玛丽亚·西奥博尔德和她的同事发表在《心理科学》上的最新研究表明,造成这个问题的并非考场的压力,而是复习的压力。)”可知,西奥博尔德博士研究的关键发现是复习的压力会影响考试成绩。故选C项。 29.细节理解题。根据第四段中的“During the 100 days before the actual papers, all her volunteers used a digital-learning platform which presented them with old exam questions and recorded their performance.(在正式考试前的100天里,所有志愿者都使用了一个数字学习平台,该平台会为他们展示往年的考试题目并记录他们的表现。)”可知,志愿者们在研究中在网上作答了往年的考试题目。故选A项。 30.词句猜测题。根据最后一段中的“Second, they can diminish the significance of the test by reminding themselves that, while it is important, it is not a life or death situation.(其次,他们可以通过提醒自己,考试虽然重要,但并非生死攸关的大事,来diminish考试的重要性。)”可知,通过这种心理暗示能降低考试在心中的重要程度,因此“diminish”的意思是“减弱、降低”,与weaken意义相近。故选A项。 31.推理判断题。根据最后一段中的“First, they can raise their belief in their own abilities by reminding themselves of just how much they know.(首先,他们可以通过提醒自己掌握了多少知识,来增强对自身能力的信心。)”以及整段介绍缓解复习焦虑能提升考试成绩的内容可知,建立自信心能够对考试发挥产生积极影响。故选C项。 D (本题10分)Enough sleep is very important for teenagers’ physical and mental development. A.How Lost Sleep Damages Teenagers’ Health B.Healthy Sleep Powers Teenagers’ Well-being C.Leading Causes of Teenagers’ Lack of Sleep D.Approaches to Quality Sleep for Teenagers 【答案】32.B 33.C 34.A 35.B 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。主要介绍了充足睡眠对青少年身心发展和学业的关键作用,揭示了青少年普遍睡眠不足的现状及其多重危害,并提出了改善睡眠质量的建议。 【详解】32.细节理解题。根据第一段中“Enough sleep is very important for teenagers’ physical and mental development. (然而,最近对2000名青少年的一项调查表明,超过60%的青少年每天的睡眠时间少于7小时。)”和“Experts remind that staying up late will affect the production of melatonin — a hormone (激素) that controls sleep and helps growth — which may lead to poor sleep quality and slow physical growth. (专家提醒,熬夜会影响褪黑素的分泌——这是一种控制睡眠和促进生长的激素——这可能会导致睡眠质量差和身体发育迟缓。)”可知,该调查表明青少年的健康因睡眠不足而受损。故选C项。 34.推理判断题。根据第三段中“What’s more, poor sleep will greatly reduce their ability to focus in class and remember new things. That’s why many students who often stay up late find it hard to follow teachers’ lessons and keep new knowledge in mind. On the other hand, teenagers with good sleep habits are usually more energetic in daily life and do better in their studies. (此外,睡眠不佳会极大地降低他们在课堂上的专注力以及对新知识的记忆能力。这就是为什么许多经常熬夜的学生难以跟上老师的讲课节奏,并难以记住新知识的原因。另一方面,有良好睡眠习惯的青少年在日常生活中通常会更加精力充沛,在学业上也表现得更好。)”可知,通过对比睡眠不佳和睡眠良好对学习表现的影响,可推断出良好睡眠有助于青少年在学业上取得成功。故选A项。 35.主旨大意题。通读全文可知,第一段总述充足睡眠的重要性;第二段通过调查数据说明睡眠不足的现状及对身体的影响;第三段阐述睡眠不足对心理健康和学习的具体危害,并对比良好睡眠的益处;第四段提出改善建议。因此,文章主要说明了健康睡眠对青少年健康的益处,B项“健康睡眠赋能青少年幸福”最契合文章主旨,适合作为文章标题。故选B项。 E (本题12.5分)Studying a subject that you feel pointless is never fun. 36(12.5分) The answer is clear. 【答案】36.E 37.D 38.A 39.C 40.G 【导语】本文是一篇议论文。文章从历史帮助我们理解文化根源、丰富人生经验、培养共情能力和激发进一步学习四个方面论述学习历史的重要性。 36.前文“Studying a subject that you feel pointless is never fun.(学习一门你觉得毫无意义的学科从来都不是有趣的。)”提到学习觉得无用的学科无趣,后文“The answer is clear. After taking a deep breath to calm my nerves, I gathered my thoughts and started writing, pouring my heart and soul into the words. Time flew by, and before I knew it, the bell rang, indicating the time was up. After submitting my story, I felt a mix of relief and uncertainty. I wondered how my work compared with the others’ work, and as the days passed, I found myself so eager for the results. Finally, the results were announced. To my surprise and disbelief, I won the first prize! It was like a dream, a moment of pure joy and excitement I would never forget. My teacher’s face lit up with pride, and I gained newfound confidence in my abilities. It was a moment that made all the hard work worth it and made me realize that I could do more than I had ever imagined. From that day on, I actively participated in school activities.
