旁边”、on“在……上面”和behind“在……后面”都不能提供足够的保护。
16.句意:坐在门口或靠近墙壁的地板上比站在房间中央更安全。

17.句意:记得用手臂保护你的头和脖子。
由“your head and neck”和地震安全常识可知,应保护头部和颈部,protect“保护”符合语境。raise“抬起”、touch“触摸”和press“按压”均不符合防护意图。
18.句意:远离窗户、高大的家具以及可能掉落到你身上的任何东西。
“that may fall on you”是定语从句,修饰先行词,此处用anything“任何东西”,表示“任何可能掉落的东西”。
由下文“Get away from buildings and trees.” in front“在前面”、in the middle“在中间”和at the foot“在脚下”均与上下文不匹配。

aftershocks(余震)发生在主震之后,after“在……之后”符合逻辑。before“在……之前”、at“在”和on“在……

It is clear that the world will be a very different place in 2045. So what’s going to happen then? It’s pretty likely that robots and AI technology will change a lot of industries. Also, self-driving and flying cars will come into our daily life, bringing us much convenience (便利).
However, scientists have even bigger ideas. In Forward to the Future, a video series, three researchers predicted what they imagined would become real in 2045.
Dr. Justin Sanchez believes we’ll be at a point where we can control things simply by using our mind. “Imagine a world where you could just use your thoughts to control your environment,” Justin said. According to him, experts are working on certain technologies that can make this happen. They’ve made some progress already.
The future has more than just that. Many other exciting things could change the buildings and other objects around us, says Stefanie Tompkins. “We’ll be able to build things that are very strong but also lightweight. We don’t even know the materials around us,” she predicted.
Pam Melroy believes we’re going to find that we have a very different relationship with the machines around us. “I think we’ll begin to see a time when we’re able to control a machine just by pressing a button or only saying some simple words,” she said. For example, right now to land a plane safely, a pilot has to go through many steps in the right order. But in 2045, in Pam’s words, a pilot may just need to say the words “prepare for landing”. Then the computer knows the steps it needs to take. Or perhaps, with AI, a pilot won’t even be necessary.
These ideas might sound like science fiction now, but they show the direction technology is heading. The future is being built by today’s scientists and dreamers.
31.What is the main purpose of the first paragraph?
A.To list all future technologies. B.To introduce the topic of future life.
C.To compare different scientists’ ideas. D.To explain how robots change jobs.
32.What does the underlined word “this” refer to in Paragraph 3?
A.Making progress in AI technology. B.Driving flying cars in our daily life.
C.Controlling things by using our mind. D.Using robots in different industries.
33.According to Stefanie Tompkins, what will future materials be like?
A.Common and cheap. B.Strong and heavy.
C.Beautiful and expensive. D.Unknown and light.
34.Which picture shows how a pilot might land a plane in 2045?
A. B. C. D.
35.What would be the best title for the passage?
A.Famous Scientists in Technologies B.Look Into the Life in 2045
C.New Kinds of Building Materials D.Challenges for AI in the future
【答案】31.B 32.C 33.D 34.A 35.B
第一段通过“what’s going to happen then?”
32.第三段中Justin Sanchez说“we can control things simply by using our mind”,随后说“experts are working on certain technologies that can make this happen”,因此“this”指代“用思维控制事物”。
33.第四段Stefanie Tompkins说“We’ll be able to build things that are very strong but also lightweight. We don’t even know the materials around us”,说明未来材料的特点是“未知且轻便”。
C
Taking a nap (午睡) is a good way for students to relax after lunch. To make it more comfortable, many middle and high schools use foldable (可折叠的) desks and chairs. However, not all of these desks and chairs are well designed— some are the wrong size or shape, and their poor design may even cause discomfort or harm to students.
To solve this, a new national rule came out on Sept. 2, 2025. It explains clearly how to make and use foldable desks and chairs correctly. In primary schools, desks should be between 45.5 cm and 73 cm tall. In middle schools, they should be between 56.5 cm and 79 cm tall. Chairs should be at least 36 cm wide to help students sit well. For naps, the chairs can be turned into a bed. A bed should be at least 105 cm long, and the backrest (靠背) should lean (倾斜) back more than 135 degrees.
The desks and chairs must also be strong. For example, a chair can be folded up to 10,000 times. ________ If pencil mark gets on them, students should be able to clean it with an eraser.
The new rule will take effect on Feb. 1 next year. Before that, experts said that schools still need to think about a few things. For example, do the new desks fit in different classrooms? And are they good for classes with many students?
36.Why do many middle and high schools use foldable desks and chairs?
A.To make students’ naps more comfortable.
B.To save more space in classrooms.
C.To make classrooms look more beautiful.
D.To let students move them easily.
37.According to the passage, how wide should the chairs be at least?

C.For example, they come in many different colors.
D.They should also be easy to clean.
39.When will the new national rule take effect?
A.On Feb. 2 next year. B.On Sept. 2 next year.
C.On Feb. 1 next year. D.On Sept. 1 next year.

Have you ever seen capybaras (水豚)? They were thought to be a kind of pig in the past, but now we know that they are the largest rodents (啮齿动物) on the earth. Guess what? They are new stars on social media now!
Seeing them in the wild, you might be surprised at first because they look like giant guinea pigs, which are in fact one of their closest relatives. Capybaras’ bodies are covered in reddish-brown fur. When swimming around, thanks to their small eyes, noses and hairless ears which are high on their heads, they’re able to see the above-water things around them. That’s why they can protect themselves from danger easily. A capybara weighs around 50 kilograms and it can grow to 1.5 meters in length. Female capybaras are usually a little heavier than the males.
Most of them live in South America and like to stay in comfortable places with lots of water. Pantanal, the world’s largest freshwater wetland, is a perfect place for them to live. Capybaras usually eat grass. But they sometimes eat their own poop (排泄物) because it is helpful for them to get all the things they need.
Capybaras are good swimmers and love to play with water. They usually live in groups of 10 to 20 (and up to 100 during the dry season). They also like chatting with each other very much. They express themselves by making different kinds of sounds, including purring, barking, whistling, cackling and grunting. Each sound has an important meaning, from warning the group of danger to sending signals of leaving. It’s like a capybara language.
With good personalities, capybaras have become increasingly popular on social media. They get along with almost all the other animals and share their homes with birds and turtles, just like a big animal family living together peacefully. They are calm and don’t really care about what goes on around them. Other animals can do whatever they feel like if they don’t hurt the capybaras. But if capybaras are aware of a risk, they may attack others to protect themselves.

People have always dreamed about the future. What will life be like in the year 2050? Let’s look at some predictions.
First, transportation will be very different. Cars will run on clean energy and most of them will be driverless. People can sit back and relax while the car takes them to their destination. There will also be more high-speed trains connecting cities, making travel faster and easier.
Second, technology will play a bigger role in our daily life. Smart homes will be common. People can control the lights, temperature and even cookers with their phones. Robots will help with housework, such as cleaning, washing dishes and taking care of the elderly.
Third, the environment will be better protected. People will use more renewable energy like solar and wind power. Factories will produce less pollution because of stricter environmental laws. There will be more forests and green spaces in cities, making the air cleaner.
Education will also change. Students can study at home through online courses taught by top teachers from all over the world. They can also use virtual reality (虚拟现实) to have interesting and interactive lessons, which will make learning more fun.

A.36 cm. B.45.5 cm. C.56.5 cm. D.79 cm.
38.Which of the following can be put in ________?
A.In fact, they are not strong enough for some students.
B.Therefore, they are very popular in schools now.
C.For example, they come in many different colors.
D.They should also be easy to clean.
39.When will the new national rule take effect?
A.On Feb. 2 next year. B.On Sept. 2 next year.
C.On Feb. 1 next year. D.On Sept. 1 next year.
40.What’s the passage mainly about?
A.A new rule on safe nap-friendly desks and chairs.
B.How to sleep longer during students’ naps.
C.Why students dislike old desks.
D.Problems of old foldable desks and chairs.
D

They want to invent new things to make people’s lives better. 10% want to be engineers. They think building new buildings and bridges is exciting. 20% have other dreams, like being artists, pilots or writers.
Most students say they will work hard to make their dreams come true. They plan to study more science and math, read more books about their dream jobs, and take part in related activities. For example, students who want to be doctors will volunteer in hospitals to learn more about medicine.
41.How many students want to be doctors in the survey?
A.300. B.250. C.150. D.100.
42.Why do some students want to be teachers?
