四、阅读理解
With the development of international communication, more and more international schools appear in many Asian countries, including Vietnam, Thailand and China. These schools welcome teenage students from Canada, America, Sweden, Australia and many other countries.
The school schedules in these international schools are totally different from local Chinese middle schools. Students do not stay in the same classroom for all lessons. They move to different classrooms for different subjects, just like American exchange student Toby introduced in our textbook. Their lunch break lasts for one and a half hours, much longer than our one-hour lunchtime. They have much less written homework after school, so they have plenty of free time to take part in all kinds of hobby courses, such as drama, team sports, handcraft creation and foreign language learning.
During language lessons, students learn to use special suffixes to talk about different nationalities. The suffix -ian is for countries like Canada and Australia; -ese is for China and Vietnam; -ish is used for Sweden and Spain. Students master these word rules and can talk about foreign students and their mother languages freely.
Besides language and subject study, teachers always encourage students to think independently and care about their school environment. Students are taught to write formal suggestion letters to school managers. They put forward practical advice on many school aspects: adding more ping-pong tables in the playground, buying more storybooks for the school library, offering more fresh fruit in the dining hall and organizing more after-school club activities.
Through reading articles about different school lives and communicating with foreign classmates, students slowly realize the deep importance of education. They find that colourful school activities and balanced study pressure can bring teenagers great happiness and help them develop into all-round people.

A. They stay in one fixed classroom for every lesson.
B. Their lunch break is only one hour long.

( )3. Which suffix is used to talk about people from Sweden?

六、范文
Dear Mr Zhang,
I am writing to offer some suggestions on how to improve our school life. After reading articles about international schools in Vietnam and other foreign countries, I find our school life is not as colourful as the school life of foreign students. I also hope to take a vacation to visit an international school one day to experience different school culture.
First, I suggest our school hold more sports and drama clubs, because we have fewer after-school hobby lessons than foreign students. Second, our lunch break is not as long as the lunchtime in international schools, so we can make our lunch break longer to let us have enough time to relax. What’s more, the dining hall can provide more fresh fruit for every student.
I look forward to seeing these changes in our school. I truly believe that rich school activities can bring us more fun and help us understand the true importance of good education. I hope my suggestions are helpful to you.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
