1.Established 2.diversity 3.featured 4.to 5.and 6.incredibly 7.which 8.has studied/has been studying 9.exploring 10.global
【答案】1.C 2.A 3.C
根据Academic Lessons部分“Morning classes (Monday — Friday, 9:00 am — 12:00 pm) focus on practical communication skills. Led by experienced ESL (English as a Second Language) teachers, lessons cover practical skills in conversations, vocabulary development through multimedia resources, and the use of American idioms and slang (俚语) in everyday contexts.(上午课程(周一至周五,上午9:00—12:00)聚焦实用沟通技能。
根据文章标题“Language & Culture Short Term English Program (STEP)(语言文化短期英语项目)”和第一段“Come practice your English and experience American culture in the lively city of Seattle! Designed for international learners, this intense four-week program combines structured morning lessons with optional afternoon activities to help you gain confidence and fluency in real-world settings.(快来西雅图这座充满活力的城市练习英语,体验美国文化吧!
【答案】1.E 2.C 3.G 4.D 5.A
上文“Students who participate in art strengthen their focus skills.( 参与艺术活动的学生能够增强他们的专注力。)” 下文“For visual art, that problem may be deciding which art tools or materials will create the picture in their minds.( 对于视觉艺术而言,这个问题可能在于决定使用哪些艺术工具或材料才能在脑海中呈现出想要的画面。)” E 选项“Students must concentrate on the problem at hand.( 学生必须专注于手头的问题。)”
2.上文“Students can create whatever they want with their imagination.( 学生们可以用自己的想象力创造出任何他们想要的东西。)”说“学生可以用想象力创造任何东西”,下文“Even the shyest students can express themselves through art.( 甚至最害羞的学生也能通过艺术来表达自己。)” C选项“If they can picture it, they can create it.( 如果他们能够想象出它,他们就能创造出它。)”
3.上文“Most primary teachers can prove the fact that many students are not happy when their work of art is interrupted before it has been completed.( 大多数小学教师都可以证明这样一个事实:许多学生在他们的艺术作品在完成之前被中断时会感到不开心。)” G选项“Students wish to realize their ideas through art without break.( 学生希望不间断地通过艺术实现自己的想法。)”
4.上文“The development of self-expression and creativity, free from judgement, increases students’ confidence!( 自我表达和创造力的发展,不受评判的影响,会增强学生的自信心!)”说“不受评判的自我表达和创造力会提升自信”,下文“Students develop a greater sense of self by expressing themselves openly and in their own way.( 通过公开且以自己的方式表达自己,学生们会获得更强的自我意识。)” D选项“There are no right or wrong ways to create art.( 创造艺术没有对错之分。)”
5.本段是文章的最后一个分论点,下文“Participation in art is highly beneficial to students’ performance in the classroom. Art requires the use of many parts of the brain, thus, providing better overall brain usage in students.( 参与艺术活动对学生的课堂表现非常有益。 A 选项“Art can make students smarter.( 艺术能让学生更聪明。)”
【答案】1.A 2.C 3.A 4.A
In this “book of books,” artworks are selected and arranged in a way that emphasizes these connections between different eras and cultures. (在这本“书之书”中,艺术品的选择和排列方式强调了不同时代和文化之间的联系)”以及第三段“Books themselves may be used symbolically in paintings to demonstrate the intellect, wealth or faith of the subject. (书籍本身可以在绘画中象征性地用来展示智慧,主体的财富或信仰)”和最后一段“From a 21st-century point of view, the printed book is certainly ancient, but it remains as interactive as any battery-powered e-reader. 故选A。
通过文章第二段“artworks are selected and arranged in a way that emphasizes these connections between different eras and cultures. We see scenes of children learning to read at home or at school, with the book as a focus for relations between the generations.
根据画线词上文“artworks are selected and arranged in a way that emphasizes these connections between different eras and cultures. We see scenes of children learning to read at home or at school, with the book as a focus for relations between the generations. 故选A。
通过文章最后一段“it remains as interactive as any battery-powered e-reader (它仍然像任何电池供电的电子阅读器一样具有互动性)”以及“printed book still offers the chance of a wholly private, “off-line” activity (印刷书籍仍然提供了完全私人的“离线”活动的机会)”可推知,本文作者提到电子阅读器想表达的是印刷书籍并没有完全过时。故选A。

1.Established 2.diversity 3.featured 4.to 5.and 6.incredibly 7.which 8.has studied/has been studying 9.exploring 10.global

Most students, despite age or background, truly enjoy participating in art. The attractive aspects of art keep us focused. Using art in the classroom is no different.
Students who participate in art strengthen their focus skills. 1 For visual art, that problem may be deciding which art tools or materials will create the picture in their minds. For performance art, students may need precise time to remind them. Regardless of the art medium, students must keep up with what is happening in order to successfully complete their work.
Students find art as a way of self-expression and creativity. There are no limits to art. Students can create whatever they want with their imagination. 2 Even the shyest students can express themselves through art.
Increased participation and motivation mean increased determination and perseverance. When students start an art project, they are more determined to see it completed. Most primary teachers can prove the fact that many students are not happy when their work of art is interrupted before it has been completed. 3
The development of self-expression and creativity, free from judgement, increases students’ confidence! 4 Students develop a greater sense of self by expressing themselves openly and in their own way. It is also quite rewarding for students to share their art with others and develop their interpersonal skills.
5 Participation in art is highly beneficial to students’ performance in the classroom. Art requires the use of many parts of the brain, thus, providing better overall brain usage in students.
A.Art can make students smarter.
B.Students colorfully write out the word.
C.If they can picture it, they can create it.
D.There are no right or wrong ways to create art.
E.Students must concentrate on the problem at hand.
F.Teachers should combine art with learning more carefully.
G.Students wish to realize their ideas through art without break.
Reading Art: Art for Book Lovers is a celebration of an everyday object — the book, represented here in almost three hundred artworks from museums around the world. The image of the reader appears throughout history, in art made long before books as we now know them came into being. In artists’ representations of books and reading, we see moments of shared humanity that go beyond culture and time.
In this “book of books,” artworks are selected and arranged in a way that emphasizes these connections between different eras and cultures. We see scenes of children learning to read at home or at school, with the book as a focus for relations between the generations. Adults are portrayed (描绘) alone in many settings and poses —absorbed in a volume, deep in thought or lost in a moment of leisure. These scenes may have been painted hundreds of years ago, but they record moments we can all relate to.
Books themselves may be used symbolically in paintings to demonstrate the intellect (才智), wealth or faith of the subject. Before the wide use of the printing press, books were treasured objects and could be works of art in their own right. More recently, as books have become inexpensive or even throwaway, artists have used them as the raw material for artworks — transforming covers, pages or even complete volumes into paintings and sculptures.
Continued developments in communication technologies were once believed to make the printed page outdated. From a 21st-century point of view, the printed book is certainly ancient, but it remains as interactive as any battery-powered e-reader. To serve its function, a book must be activated by a user: the cover opened, the pages parted, the contents reviewed, perhaps notes written down or words underlined. And in contrast to our increasingly networked lives where the information we consume is monitored and tracked, a printed book still offers the chance of a wholly private, “off-line” activity.
1.Where is the text most probably taken from?
A.An introduction to a book. B.An essay on the art of writing.
C.A guidebook to a museum. D.A review of modern paintings.
2.What are the selected artworks about?
A.Wealth and intellect. B.Home and school.
C.Books and reading. D.Work and leisure.
3.What do the underlined words “relate to” in paragraph 2 mean?
A.Understand. B.Paint.
C.Seize. D.Transform.
4.What does the author want to say by mentioning the e-reader?
A.The printed book is not totally out of date.
B.Technology has changed the way we read.
C.Our lives in the 21st century are networked.
D.People now rarely have the patience to read.
