Unfortunately, the treatments did little to stop the disease from spreading. By November, she was forced to use a wheelchair to get around. Then something magical happened. It changed many lives.
In the United States, there is the Make-A-Wish (MAW) foundation. It helps children in need fulfill their wishes. In November 2003, MAW visited Stout and told the girl she could have anything she wanted.
Stout thought for a few minutes and then answered, “I am still lucky. I have been to Disney World and swum with dolphins in Mexico. I went to the beach all the time. Did you just say there are 155 kids on your waiting list? Well, my wish is to let their wishes be fulfilled—all 155 of them.”

I recently read about a girl named Hope Elizabeth Stout. After learning more about her life, I got the feeling that she was such a wonderful girl who always thought for others.
In June 2003, Stout was very much like any other 12-year-old girl. She was looking forward to her family’s yearly beach trip. But a sudden pain in her knee changed everything. After some tests, doctors found that she had bone cancer.
Stout began to receive painful treatments (治疗). She never lost hope and believed that in the end, she would be able to beat cancer.
It was hard for MAW to fulfill Stout’s wish—it would cost nearly 750, 000. However, it sprang into action. Newspapers, radio and TV stations shared the story. A local company got the ball rolling with a $25, 000 donation.
Sadly, Stout didn’t live to see the happy ending of this story. She passed away on January 4, 2004. After her death, donations poured into the MAW office even faster. On January 16, MAW announced that they had raised 1, 116, 000—enough to fulfill all 155 wishes. Finally, Stout’s wish came true.

A resolution is a promise that you make to yourself. People make resolutions to improve their lives. 46 most common kind is a New Year’s resolution. After all, the start of the year is often a perfect time for making resolutions.
Resolutions can be about anything. Some are about physical health. For example, some people may promise to exercise more or eat more 47 (healthy). People may decide they are going to take up a hobby, like painting or photography. And some resolutions have something to do with the 48 (improve) of yourself. By making resolutions, you can become more confident or 49 (organize).
Although there are differences, most resolutions have one thing in common: people hardly ever keep them. 50 there are good reasons for this. Sometimes the resolutions may be too difficult to keep. And sometimes people just forget about them.
To make your resolutions work, you need to plan them 51 (wise). Always make sure your resolution is possible 52 (achieve). Don’t set a goal that is too difficult or too much for you. Try to set mini-goals to help you achieve your resolution. And if you don’t want to forget your resolutions, write 53 (they) down. And you can also ask your friends to remind you of all your 54 (goal). My dear friends, stick 55 your resolution and your dream will come true.
46.The 47.healthily 48.improvement 49.organized 50.But 51.wisely 52.to achieve 53.them 54.goals 55.to
此处作动词短语“write down”的宾语,需用they的宾格形式them。
