Originally from Wales in the United Kingdom, Hiley 1 (live) in Norway for more than four decades. As the 2 (found) of the Norwegian Taiji Center in Oslo, she is widely recognized as a pioneer of tai chi in the country. But 3 (evident), tai chi is far more than a significant martial art or a form of physical exercise for Hiley — it is a path 4 understanding oneself and connecting with the wider world.
Hiley first encountered tai chi at the age of 20, when she learned human movement and art at university. Her academic curiosity about movement, 5 (combine) with an artistic fascination with the color black, ultimately led her to tai chi. Later, while 6 (study) for a postgraduate’s degree in London, she found a tai chi teacher. The practice struck a deep impression within her. It motivated her 7 (open) her own tai chi school in London after a period of systematic study. Later, following a personal invitation, Hiley moved to Norway, 8 she established a new tai chi school.
Hiley’s approach to tai chi is gentle, especially with 9 (beginner). She introduces philosophical ideas through movement, showing students how to feel the concepts in their bodies. But her teaching goes far beyond posture. She asks her students as she recognizes that people come to tai chi seeking solutions to 10 wide range of difficulties — physical, emotional or psychological.
1.has lived 2.founder 3.evidently 4.to 5.combined 6.studying 7.to open 8.where 9.beginners 10.a
a path to...
motivate sb. to do sth.

Made for roughly the price of a single scene in a Hollywood big-budget film, Dear You has unexpectedly become a hit in China, receiving enthusiastic 1 (review) and sparking (掀起) a wave of tourism to Chaoshan, Guangdong Province where it is largely set.
Dear You follows a grandson’s search 2 his family history by tracing letters that 3 (send) home decades ago. Through his journey, the film explores the history of the “South Seas”, or Nanyang, migration of the 1800s, 4 millions of economic migrants fled southern China.
The production has become one of the most 5 (success) films of the year. It has also become 6 talking point on social media among overseas Chinese communities. For many, Dear You’s success reflects a wider shift in China’s consumer market, as young people become 7 (increasing) interested in exploring and celebrating local culture and traditions.
Now, travellers are flocking to filming locations 8 (use) in Dear You, turning historic streets and mansions into new hotspots. Colly Fang, a film-goer in Hong Kong, said Dear You had made her more interested in visiting Chaoshan. “Local folklore (民俗) and culture have become a huge 9 (attract) for young people lately,” she said. “This film inspired people, especially those who had never been to Chaoshan district, 10 (explore) these small cities in Guangdong.”
1.reviews 2.for 3.were sent 4.when 5.successful 6.a 7.increasingly 8.used 9.attraction 10.to explore
固定搭配inspire sb. to do sth.,意为“激励某人做某事”,所以此处使用不定式to explore作宾语补足语。
A
(25-26高二下·河北衡水·期末)Have you ever wondered what happens to all of the old objects launched into space, such as rockets and satellites? They are called space junk (太空垃圾), and much of it is still out there now. According to NASA, the definition of space junk is “any man-made object in orbit around Earth that no longer serves a useful function”.
One large piece of space junk, a disused rocket, hit the dark side of the moon on 4 March. The rocket’s origin is not clear, but scientists know that it was massive — weighing about 3 tons. It must have left a large crater (坑), estimated 10 to 20 metres wide, on the moon’s surface. It won’t be visible right away, but scientists are trying to locate it. “We will find the crater, eventually,” Mark Robinson, lead investigator for NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera, told USA Today. “Depending on its location, it could take as long as 28 days.”
What’s significant about this space junk crash is that it draws attention to some of the potential dangers of space junk. First, the accumulation of space junk in Earth’s orbit means that satellites and the International Space Station are at risk. In 2016, tiny space debris (残骸), smaller than a millimetre, caused a tiny chip in the ISS’ window. Imagine the damage that a larger piece of debris could cause. The European Space Agency website states that objects “up to 1 cm in size could disable an instrument or a critical flight system on a satellite” while objects over 10 cm “could shatter a satellite or spacecraft into pieces”. If this sounds terrifying, that’s because it is. Any collision (碰撞) with larger pieces of debris could be especially dangerous for manned spacecraft.
In addition to potential damage to spacecraft and satellites, space junk also poses a threat to Earth itself. Crashes can send debris into the atmosphere where it can remain for many decades. Some powerful crashes can even send large debris hurtling (猛冲) towards Earth’s surface where it can affect the local environment. Leftover rocket debris can contain toxic (有毒的) materials that are harmful to plant and animal life. Some people in Siberia have even reported serious health problems after rocket debris landed in their regions in 2012, a local doctor told the BBC.
1.Which of the following can be regarded as space junk?
A.An abandoned space station. B.A spacecraft orbiting the moon.
C.A crater on the moon’s surface. D.A satellite working in low Earth orbit.
2.What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 2 refer to?
A.Tracking the rocket. B.Locating the crater.
C.Cleaning up the space junk. D.Finding out the rocket’s origin.
3.Why does the author mention the damage caused by tiny space debris in 2016?
A.To compare the effects of debris of different sizes.
B.To prove the space debris problem is getting worse.
C.To illustrate the potential dangers of space junk.
D.To explain the necessity of removing space junk.
4.What can be inferred about space junk from the last paragraph?
A.It’s likely to cause a global environmental crisis.
B.It can pose a lasting threat if it remains in the atmosphere.
C.It’s impossible to stop it from entering the atmosphere.
D.The biggest threat comes from the toxic materials contained in space junk.
【答案】1.A 2.B 3.C 4.B
根据第一段“the definition of space junk is ‘any man-made object in orbit around Earth that no longer serves a useful function’ (太空垃圾的定义是“环绕地球轨道运行、不再具备实用功能的任何人造物体”)”可知,废弃空间站属于失去使用价值的人造太空物体。
根据第二段“scientists are trying to locate it (科学家正努力定位它)”、“We will find the crater, eventually (我们最终会找到这个陨石坑)”以及“Depending on its location, it could take as long as 28 days. (根据它的位置不同,____最长可能需要28天)”可知,it指代前文定位陨石坑。
3.推理判断题。根据第三段“What’s significant about this space junk crash is that it draws attention to some of the potential dangers of space junk. (这次太空垃圾撞击事件的重要意义在于,它让人们关注到太空垃圾存在的各类潜在危险)”以及“If this sounds terrifying, that’s because it is. (如果这听起来很吓人,那是因为它本就很吓人)”可知,举该例子是为说明太空垃圾存在潜在危险。
4.推理判断题。根据最后一段“Crashes can send debris into the atmosphere where it can remain for many decades. (撞击会将残骸送入大气层,残骸可在大气中留存数十年之久)”可推知,太空垃圾若停留在大气层会造成长期威胁。
B
(25-26高二下·安徽安庆·期末)Books were stamped with “Human Authored” logos (标识) at this week’s London Book Fair. The Society of Authors described its labelling as “an important logo to protect and promote human creativity instead of AI labelled content in the marketplace.”
Visitors to the fair were also given copies of Don’t Steal This Book, a collection of 10,000 writers including Nobel winner Kazuo Ishiguro and Richard Osman, in which the pages are completely blank. The back cover states: “The UK government must not legalize book theft to benefit AI companies.”
The empty book is a protest against AI companies using copyrighted works without permission or payment to train their models — and against UK government proposals that could legalize this practice. Organized by Ed Newton-Rex, a composer and copyright campaigner, the project has drawn vast support from the literary world. The AI industry is “built on stolen work” “This is a crime that has victims,” he added, “Generative AI competes with the creators of the works it trains on, taking away their livelihoods.”
The protest comes just a week before the UK government is due to publish an economic impact assessment of proposed changes to copyright law. The government initially proposed a system, under which AI firms could use copyrighted material unless rights holders refused permission — an exact opposite of copyright law’s core principle. Only 3% of people surveyed backed the plan. The government dropped it but is now considering a “commercial research exception” that would still allow AI companies to use works without approval for commercial training.
For the authors behind Don’t Steal This Book, the blank pages are a powerful symbol: they represent the future of writing if AI companies continue to use creative work without payment — a world where authors are left with nothing. As the Society of Authors put it, the empty book is “a stopgap measure” — but the real solution is a copyright system that protects human creativity, not commercial greed.
1.Why were the books stamped with “Human Authored” logos?
A.To show public sympathy for authors.
B.To fight AI’s stealing copyrighted works.
C.To promote newly-published works.
D.To introduce promising authors.
2.What is AI creators’ influence to the human writers?
A.They improve the writing efficiency of human writers.
B.They help human writers create more wonderful works.
C.They protect the copyright of human literary works.
D.They may claim their means of making a living.
3.What is paragraph 4 mainly about?
A.The protest weakening UK’s economy.
B.Copyright law enjoying public support.
C.AI firms prioritizing commercial profits.
D.The UK government favoring AI companies.
4.How does the Society of Authors view the empty book?
A.It is a band-aid fix.
B.It stands the test of time.
C.It is a game changer.
D.It works once and for all.
【答案】1.B 2.D 3.D 4.A
根据第一段中“The Society of Authors described its labelling as “an important logo to protect and promote human creativity instead of AI labelled content in the marketplace.”(作家协会将其标签描述为“一项重要的标识,旨在保护和促进人类创造力,而非市场上标有AI的内容”)”以及第三段中“The empty book is a protest against AI companies using copyrighted works without permission or payment to train their models — and against UK government proposals that could legalize this practice.(这本空书是对人工智能公司未经许可或付费使用受版权保护的作品来训练其模型的抗议,也是对英国政府可能使这种做法合法化的提议的抗议)”可知,加盖“人工创作”标识是为了对抗AI窃取版权作品的行为。
根据第三段中“Generative AI competes with the creators of the works it trains on, taking away their livelihoods.(生成式AI与其训练所依据的作品创作者竞争,夺走了他们的生计)”可知,AI创作者可能会抢占人类作家的谋生手段。
根据第四段内容,特别是“The government initially proposed a system, under which AI firms could use copyrighted material unless rights holders refused permission — an exact opposite of copyright law’s core principle.(政府最初提出了一个系统,根据该系统,人工智能公司可以使用受版权保护的材料,除非权利人拒绝许可——这与版权法的核心原则完全相反)”以及“The government dropped it but is now considering a “commercial research exception” that would still allow AI companies to use works without approval for commercial training.(政府放弃了这一计划,但现在正在考虑一个“商业研究例外”,该例外仍将允许人工智能公司在未经批准的情况下将作品用于商业培训)”可知,本段主要讲述英国政府的政策倾向于偏袒AI公司的利益。
根据最后一段中“As the Society of Authors put it, the empty book is “a stopgap measure” — but the real solution is a copyright system that protects human creativity, not commercial greed.(正如作家协会所说,这本空书是“权宜之计”,但真正的解决方案是保护人类创造力的版权制度,而不是商业贪婪)”可知,作家协会认为这本书只是一个临时的补救措施。
C
(25-26高二下·宁夏石嘴山·阶段检测)Chinese speed skater Ning Zhongyan delivered a career-defining performance at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, securing his first Olympic gold medal in the men’s 1,500 m event.
Racing on Thursday, Ning completed three laps around the oval track in 1 minute and 41.98 seconds, resetting the Olympic record. The magnitude of his achievement left him emotional and almost in disbelief, especially after overcoming the event’s overwhelming favorite, two-time world champion Jordan Stolz of the United States. Ning’s victory marked the Chinese delegation’s first gold medal in ice sports at these Games and only the second Olympic title in history for Chinese men’s speed skating.
“I still can’t believe I did it. That I’ve climbed over the mountain, which seemed insurmountable for so long,” said emotional Ning after lengthy celebrations with his coaches and teammates. Stolz, who had been the dominant force in the sport, was the “mountain” Ning had struggled to conquer in previous competitions.
Stolz, who had already won gold in the 500 m and 1,000 m earlier in the Games, praised Ning’s breakthrough performance, acknowledging, “Today he had a better race. It was super good.” Celebrating wildly with Ning was his Dutch coach, Johan de Wit, who had taken Ning into his training camp three years ago when Ning failed to medal at the Beijing 2022 Games. Training systematically with De Wit and two-time Olympic champion Miho Takagi in Japan, Ning significantly improved his consistency. De Wit noted, “By watching him skate, you can feel that good performances are coming.”
Ning’s golden dash was part of a remarkable two-day celebration for China. The victory followed snowboarder Su Yiming’s gold in men’s slopestyle on Wednesday. Shortly after Su’s victory, five-time Olympian Xu Mengtao delivered China’s second gold by delivering a multi-flip stunt (多周翻转动作) to defend her women’s freestyle skiing aerials (空中技巧) title, becoming the world’s only aerials skier to retain an Olympic gold in the discipline. Additionally, freestyle skier Wang Xindi added to the country’s gold haul on Friday, building on his wife Xu Mengtao’s achievement.
Ning’s victory, built on two earlier bronze medals in the 1,000 m, proved the value of his dedication and the trust within Team Gold. His emotional victory, described by many as a game-changer in the sport, not only fulfilled his personal dream but also underscored China’s growing strength on the Olympic stage.
1.What does the underlined word “insurmountable” in Paragraph 3 most probably mean?
A.Effortless to overcome. B.Impossible to conquer.
C.Dangerous to approach. D.Unwilling to acknowledge.
2.What is the main idea of Paragraph 4?
A.The detailed techniques Ning used to win the race.
B.Stolz’s dominance in the 500 m and 1,000 m events.
C.The key factors and support behind Ning’s victory.
D.The celebration between Ning and his coach after the race.
3.According to the passage, what made Xu Mengta’s gold medal particularly special?
A.She successfully defended her Olympic title in aerials.
B.She won her first Olympic gold medal at the age of 35.
C.She won the gold medal on the same day as her husband.
D.She became the only skier to win gold in women’s aerials.
4.Which of the following would be the most suitable title for the passage?
A.Stolz Suffers First Defeat in Milano-Cortina
B.Chinese Skaters Dominate the Speed Skating Rink
C.A Night of Celebrations for the Chinese Olympic Delegation
D.Ning Zhongyan’s Golden Breakthrough at the 2026 Winter Games
【答案】1.B 2.C 3.A 4.D
根据第三段““I still can’t believe I did it. That I’ve climbed over the mountain, which seemed insurmountable for so long,” said emotional Ning after lengthy celebrations with his coaches and teammates. Stolz, who had been the dominant force in the sport, was the “mountain” Ning had struggled to conquer in previous competitions. (宁在与教练、队友庆祝很长时间后感慨万千:“我至今不敢相信自己做到了,我翻越了那座长久以来看似insurmountable的大山。” 斯托尔兹曾是这项运动里的绝对强者,也是宁在之前比赛中拼尽全力却始终难以战胜的“大山”。)”可知,这座大山指代实力强劲的对手斯托尔茨,长期以来很难战胜,因此insurmountable含义为“无法征服的、难以逾越的”。
2.主旨大意题。根据第四段“Stolz, who had already won gold in the 500 m and 1,000 m earlier in the Games, praised Ning’s breakthrough performance, acknowledging, “Today he had a better race. It was super good.” Celebrating wildly with Ning was his Dutch coach, Johan de Wit, who had taken Ning into his training camp three years ago when Ning failed to medal at the Beijing 2022 Games. Training systematically with De Wit and two-time Olympic champion Miho Takagi in Japan, Ning significantly improved his consistency.(斯托尔兹在奥运会早些时候中已斩获500米与1000米两枚金牌,他对宁此次突破性的表现大加赞赏,并坦言:“今天他滑得更好,发挥堪称完美。”和宁一同尽情庆祝的是他的荷兰教练约翰·德维特。2022年北京冬奥会宁未能站上领奖台,三年前教练便将他招入训练营。之后宁前往日本,跟随德维特与两届奥运冠军高木美帆系统训练,竞技发挥的稳定性得到大幅提升。)”可知,本段写了对手的认可,同时提到教练的帮助、专业系统训练等宁忠岩夺冠背后的关键助力与支撑因素。
3.细节理解题。根据第五段“Shortly after Su’s victory, five-time Olympian Xu Mengtao delivered China’s second gold by delivering a multi-flip stunt (多周翻转动作) to defend her women’s freestyle skiing aerials (空中技巧) title, becoming the world’s only aerials skier to retain an Olympic gold in the discipline.(苏翊鸣夺冠后不久,参加过五届冬奥会的徐梦桃凭借一套多周转体高难度动作,成功卫冕女子自由式滑雪空中技巧冠军,为中国队摘得第二枚金牌,也成为该项目史上唯一一位守住冬奥金牌的空中技巧运动员。)”
通读全文特别是根据第一段“Chinese speed skater Ning Zhongyan delivered a career-defining performance at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, securing his first Olympic gold medal in the men’s 1,500 m event.(中国速滑选手宁忠岩在2026年米兰 - 科尔蒂纳丹佩佐冬奥会迎来职业生涯标志性一战,拿下男子1500米项目个人首枚奥运金牌。)”

(25-26高二下·广东河源·期末)Doing a sport is undoubtedly an excellent way to stay healthy and build character. However, with a wide range of options available, deciding the right sport that suits you requires thoughtful consideration. Following are key steps to guide your choice.
First and foremost, take your budget into account. 1 Keep in mind that some sports, such as skiing or golf, may require a lot of money just to get started, not to mention the expense in buying equipment. By contrast, other sports like tennis or badminton may be more financially affordable because you can play for free at a public court.
Next, consider your preference for teamwork. Do you enjoy the process of a team working towards a common goal? 2 Sports like hockey or volleyball rely heavily on close cooperation from team members, while others — like swimming or running — provide more independence. If you’re more of a team player, consider a team sport. If you’re more of the solo type, try the latter ones.
The environment around you is also of crucial significance. 3 Local sport resources greatly influence availability. For instance, living near water might make swimming or rowing attainable, whereas a lack of local facilities means you cannot take up sports like ice skating. But don’t be discouraged — community centers often provide diverse programs.
4 How physically challenging do you want your sport to be? Some people thrive on more challenging, fast-paced sports like basketball or boxing. Others find themselves more rewarded in the gentler, moderate pace of activities like yoga, jogging, or hiking. Do choose something that matches your fitness level and enjoyment.
Remember, figuring out which sport to play will probably take a little trial and error, and it’s perfectly normal to try different activities before finding your fit. After all, it’s a journey about exploring, learning new skills, and moving your body! 5
A.What sports are actually available around you?
B.Collective activities are ideal for social players.
C.You should also reflect on the desired activity level.
D.How can we choose the suitable sport environment?
E.Many people spend too much on sports equipment without thinking.
F.Keep sticking to regular exercise and enjoy the journey along the way.
G.You need to figure out how much money you are able to invest in the sport in advance.
【答案】1.G 2.B 3.A 4.C 5.F
1.根据第一段首句“First and foremost, take your budget into account.(首先,要把你的预算考虑进去。)”以及后文“Keep in mind that some sports, such as skiing or golf, may require a lot of money just to get started, not to mention the expense in buying equipment. By contrast, other sports like tennis or badminton may be more financially affordable because you can play for free at a public court.(记住有些运动,比如滑雪或高尔夫,光是入门就需要花费大量资金,更不用说购买装备的开销了。相比之下,网球或羽毛球等其他运动则可能更经济实惠,因为你可以免费在公共场地打球。)”对比滑雪、高尔夫花费高,网球、羽毛球相对便宜,可知本段强调提前确定投入金额。G项“You need to figure out how much money you are able to invest in the sport in advance(你需要提前确定自己能为这项运动投入多少钱)”与段落主题一致,且“in advance”与“take...into account”逻辑呼应。
2.根据第二段前文“Do you enjoy the process of a team working towards a common goal?(你是否喜欢团队为共同目标而努力的过程?)”以及后文“Sports like hockey or volleyball rely heavily on close cooperation from team members, while others — like swimming or running — provide more independence. If you’re more of a team player, consider a team sport. If you’re more of the solo type, try the latter ones.(像冰球或排球这样的运动非常依赖队员之间的密切配合,而像游泳或跑步等项目则更具独立性。如果你更喜欢团队合作,可以考虑选择团队运动;如果你更倾向于独自锻炼,不妨尝试后者。)”将团队运动(冰球、排球)与个人运动(游泳、跑步)对比,可知此处应引出集体运动适合社交型人士。B项“Collective activities are ideal for social players(集体活动是喜欢社交的运动者的理想选择)”回应前文提问,并自然引出后文对比。
3.根据第三段首句“The environment around you is also of crucial significance.(你周围的环境也至关重要。)”以及后文“Local sport resources greatly influence availability. For instance, living near water might make swimming or rowing attainable, whereas a lack of local facilities means you cannot take up sports like ice skating. (当地的体育资源对运动的可及性有很大影响。例如,住在靠近水域的地方可能便于游泳或划船,而如果当地缺乏设施,则无法进行滑冰等运动。)”可知此处应询问周围可参与的运动。A项“What sports are actually available around you? (你周围实际有哪些运动项目可获得?) ”与“environment”和“local resources”直接相关,且后文举例(近水可游泳、缺设施无法滑冰)均围绕“可获得性”展开。
4.根据第四段的“How physically challenging do you want your sport to be? (你希望运动的体能挑战性有多大?)”以及后文“Some people thrive on more challenging, fast-paced sports like basketball or boxing. Others find themselves more rewarded in the gentler, moderate pace of activities like yoga, jogging, or hiking. (有些人喜欢篮球或拳击这类更具挑战性和快节奏的运动,而另一些人则更享受瑜伽、慢跑或徒步等节奏较温和、适度的活动。)”对比高强度(篮球、拳击)和温和(瑜伽、慢跑)运动,可知本段主旨是反思期望的活动强度。C项“You should also reflect on the desired activity level(你还应反思期望的活动强度)”准确概括该段内容,且“activity level”对应“physically challenging”。
5.根据最后一段的“After all, it’s a journey about exploring, learning new skills, and moving your body! (毕竟,这是一段关于探索、学习新技能和活动身体的旅程!)”以及前文“Remember, figuring out which sport to play will probably take a little trial and error, and it’s perfectly normal to try different activities before finding your fit.(记住,确定要从事哪种运动可能需要一些试错,找到适合自己的项目之前尝试不同的活动是完全正常的。)” F项“Keep sticking to regular exercise and enjoy the journey along the way(坚持规律锻炼,并享受这一路上的旅程)”与前文语气一致,且“enjoy the journey”与原文“journey”形成完美呼应。

(25-26高二下·山东滨州·期末)Chatbots powered by artificial intelligence (AI) large language models (LLMs) are becoming more human-like by design. Do LLMs have personality? 1 “Vast quantities of human-generated training data enable LLMs to mimic human characteristics in their outputs and exhibit a form of synthetic (合成的) personality,” said the authors of a new study in Nature Machine Intelligence.
The more personable a chatbot is, the more potential for connections and influence on humans. The upside is that the user experience may be more engaging. The downside is that the persuasiveness may not necessarily be a positive influence. 2
“As LLMs increasingly power conversational agents used by the general public worldwide, the synthetic personality traits inserted in these models by training on large quantities of human data are becoming increasingly important to evaluate,” the authors wrote. 3 According to a 2025 YouGov Survey of 1,132 Americans aged 18 and older, 56% of American adults used AI tools, higher than that in previous years. 4 According to the 2025 Pew Research Center Survey of 1,458 American teens, 68% between the ages of 15-17 years old and 57% of 13-to 14-year-old teens reported using AI chatbots, and three-in-ten teens interact with AI chatbots daily. The most used chatbot among teens is ChatGPT (59%), followed by Gemini (23%), Meta AI (20%), Copilot (14%), Character AI (9%), and Claude (3%).
“So far, validated psychometric methods for human personality measurement have not been applied to LLMs end-to-end. 5 However, scientists still need to formally check whether the results are actually reliable and meaningful when used on LLMs.” the researchers wrote.
A.Yet this question divides scientists.
B.The answer lies in their human training data.
C.This growing importance is seen in rising AI usage.
D.In short, LLMs’ personality is a double-edged sword.
E.The youths use AI chatbots widely, with clear preferences.
F.Actually, past studies have tried measuring personality in LLMs.
G.Researchers have concluded that these methods are unsuitable for LLMs.

The first time I was told to join the school choir (合唱团), I refused outright. I was a boy who hid in the library, believing that reading was the only thing that made sense. The noise of a group, the closeness of others — these things made me uncomfortable. My music teacher, Mrs. Wills, did not scold me for my refusal. Instead, she just looked at me with a kind of quiet patience and said, “A single note is beautiful, but it is lost in the air. A harmony gives it a place to live.”
I did not understand her words then. To me, singing in a group meant losing myself. I thought my voice would be covered by the louder, better singers. I was afraid of sounding weak. I was afraid of standing in a crowd. So, every Tuesday afternoon, while the others gathered in the music room, I stayed in the empty library, listening to the distant sound of their warm-ups echoing through the hall.
Then came the announcement of the annual winter concert. Mrs. Wills came to find me again. This time, she did not ask me to join. She handed me a letter. “This is for you,” she said. “Read it, and then decide.”
I opened the letter in the quiet corner of the library. On it was a short note: “We are missing one voice. The sound is not complete. We are not asking you to sing for the audience; we are asking you to sing for us — because a choir is not a collection of stars, but a constellation (星座). Without you, we are just a broken circle.”
At the bottom of the letter were signatures — messy, small, but sincere. It was signed by every single member of the choir.

Paragraph 1: That night, I couldn’t sleep, the letter lying on my bedside table. The moonlight turned those messy signatures into silver promises. I kept reading the line: “We are missing one voice.” For the first time, it struck me that my silence wasn’t protecting me; it was hurting them. I imagined the choir practicing without me, that “broken circle” Mrs. Wills had mentioned. Overwhelmed by a strange courage, I sat up. I looked at my reflection in the dark window and hummed a single note. It sounded small and shaky, but it was real. At that moment, I decided I would rather be a small part of something complete than a whole lot of nothing alone.
Paragraph 2: The night of the concert arrived, and as we stood backstage, I was trembling. The lights felt too bright, and the crowd sounded like a dangerous ocean. I wanted to run. Just then, Emma, the girl who stood next to me, reached out and held my cold hand. “Don’t worry,” she whispered. “We’ve got you.” When we walked onto the stage and the music started, something magical happened. As I opened my mouth, my weak voice did not get lost. Instead, it was wrapped in the warmth of the others. I was not a solo star, but I was a vital note in the chord. When the song ended, I realized I had not lost myself. I had finally found my place in the constellation.

For the first 15 minutes of my tai chi (太极) class, we remain 1 (entire) in one spot to warm up. Angela, a tai chi 2 (instruct) with twenty-eight years of experience, says that a successful hour of tai chi is an hour with no negative thoughts. “Your mind 3 body go together. That’s all that matters.”
Although not a morning person, I begin my lesson with Angela and about twenty others at a Sydney community centre courtyard at 7 am. “Put your 4 (foot) parallel (平行), and use your dan tian to hold up your body,” she says.
In tai chi, the dan tian is your qi core and qi in Chinese means life force. Now, I 5 (suppose) to feel the weight on my legs and sink my dan tian.
We move on to tai chi positions, of 6 there are forty-two in the style that Angela teaches. Today, we will only be doing the first nine. The movements have 7 (describe) names like “holding the bowl” and “grabbing the bird’s tail.”

At the end of the lesson, I feel wide awake, despite it still 9 (be) early at 8 am. It’s time for my dan tian 10 (meet) another life force: coffee.

It was during those tiring runs that I discovered something vital. Running, especially when you don’t feel like it, is an act of 8 over your own soul. You are both the president and the citizen of your body. The part of you that wants to quit, to go home, to 9 on the sofa, is the tired citizen. The part of you that says, “Just one more 10 ,” “Just to that tree,” is the president — the one who must decide for the good of the whole, 11 the weight of the effort even when it’s too hard.
Anxiety once made me a passive 12 in life, but running 13 me to take charge. It reshaped my outlook: I could tackle hardships and stand 14 . I never ran a marathon or achieved a fast pace, but I attained the 15 to move forward against all inner resistance.

注意:
