Wikipedia was created in 2001.All of its articles are written by a large
community of volunteers, known as Wikipedians, who come from all around the
world. This means that almost anyone with an internet connection can contribute
by adding information or making corrections. Today, it is the world’s largest
reference website and is extremely popular, attracting over two billion visitors
every month. It has millions of articles available in many different languages.#5

While anyone can edit, there are important rules to follow. The most
important rule is that all information must be verifiable. This means it must come
from a reliable source (可靠来源) that others can check, like a book or a
trusted news website. Editors cannot add their own personal opinions, beliefs, or
unpublished research. Breaking rules, such as copying information from other
websites, is not allowed.#6

What happens if someone makes a mistake or adds incorrect information?
Wikipedia has a system to protect its articles. The software makes it easy to
undo (撤销) bad changes. Also, many experienced editors are always watching
the website to fix mistakes and remove vandalism (故意破坏财产的行为)
quickly. Unlike a printed encyclopaedia, Wikipedia is always being updated,
making it a powerful example of how people can work together to share
knowledge with the entire world.#7
