第四部分 写作(共两节,满分40分)
第一节 (满分15分)
66. Dear friends,
Good afternoon! I’m Li Hua. It’s my honor to share with you my personal experience concerning appearance anxiety.
Once, I was upset about my small eyes and avoided taking photos. I even wanted to wear colored contact lenses. But my mom told me that inner beauty matters more. Later, I focused on developing my hobbies, like painting. When my works were praised, I realized appearance isn’t everything.
In my opinion, appearance anxiety comes from wrong standards. We should know everyone is unique. My advice is to focus on personal growth — read more, learn skills. This can boost confidence and help us get rid of anxiety.
第二节 (满分25分)
67.【参考范文】(116+115词)
At the Culture Festival, I stood behind my stand, nervous but ready. Taking a deep breath, I once again neatly arranged all the well-prepared items: red paper and scissors. Soon, students and teachers gathered, curiosity in their eyes. I welcomed them with a smile and demonstrated: fold, cut, unfold — and a butterfly spread its wings. A wave of surprise rippled through the crowd. Encouraged, I invited a boy to try; his star turned out uneven, yet drew laughter and applause. More joined eagerly, and I moved among them, guiding their hands, praising their efforts and celebrating each creation. When a teacher proudly held up her paper flower, the cheers grew louder. Red pieces fell to the floor, and my confidence, once hidden, shone through every new pattern.
From that day on, my world here started to change. In the hallway, students waved butterflies from my stand and greeted me with bright “Ni hao!” My heart lifted as I waved back. In literature class, I gave voice to my ideas with newfound confidence. My English was not flawless, yet my voice was steady, and instead of silence I saw nods and smiles. After class, a girl asked softly, “Can you show us more about your culture?” Her words lingered in my heart, echoing like a gentle reminder. In that echo, I realized I had not only broken free from cultural shock but also found my place in a shared story — one written by many voices, yet open enough to hold my own.

This month’s smartest techI’VE GOT NO STRINGS
Eufy says its new model, E15 (out in June), is fully “self-driving” — no wires or pegs (钉子) needed, which could make it a game changer. Aimed at smaller lawns (800 m2 rather than 1,200 m2), the E15 is smart enough to detect trees, borders and even pets while cutting. It’ll even detect when it rains or gets dark and head back to base.

Last month, Nintendo launched the successor to one of the most popular games of all time. The Switch 2 will cost £395 and Mario Kart World £65 in the UK. You just need to pay £429 if you bundle (捆绑购买) them (a set). Buy the Switch 2 alone now and you’ll get a 10% discount. If you buy 2 sets or more, you can enjoy a 20% discount. Any Nintendo console isn’t really about the tech specs, it’s about how it makes you feel when you knock that smug Donkey Kong off his kart on the last corner. We’ll see you in line.

JUST LOOK AT IT!
While we wouldn’t recommend dropping $10,000 on a record player, we can’t ignore how good this turntable looks. The idea here is that sound and light unite. As the player’s needle dances across the surface of the record, the light shines in harmony. Plus, the turntable itself is held up in the air via magnetic suspension, which, as well as looking unbelievably cool, means it’s isolated from vibrations (震动) to provide maximum musical faithfulness.

Lynn’s world fell apart in 2018. Her son, James, a navy flight surgeon, was fatally injured in a mission and passed away. It was time for Lynn to honour the spirit of a man who had switched from studying commerce engineering to medicine because he wanted to help people. Lynn instructed the hospital to begin the organ donation process. These few words, as hard as they were to say, would soon ripple outward, allowing a man to return to work, a veteran to regain his health, and a cyclist to get back on his bike.
Mike was diagnosed with leukemia in 2004. Six years of treatment and exercise paid off. To celebrate his sixth year without cancer, Mike decided to ride his bike to New York. Unfortunately, his health deteriorated and one evening in 2017, he started having chest pains.
That was when a mother’s very worst day became a stranger’s best. James’ heart was beating in the cancer survivor’s chest now. The morning he woke up from the transplant, Mike found himself recharged.
Of the four letters Lynn had sent to the recipients, one reached Mike. Lynn described her son’s devotion to his country, the fact that he considered everyone a friend, and his love for scuba diving, snowboarding, and motorcycling. These pages painted a picture of just how special his new heart was. Mike carefully composed a response, accurately expressing his gratitude and communicating his desire to stay in touch with James’ family. It was a balm (药膏) for a wound that Lynn felt would never heal. And so began the emails and texts. She even began following Mike’s Instagram posts. “Knowing he was doing well really helped,” she says.
During his recovery, Mike had hatched a plan to cycle cross-country again, from the hospital that treated him to James’ grave. When he began the 1,430-mile journey in 2019, Lynn followed anxiously on his Instagram. Despite setbacks—steep climbs, wrong turns, flat tires—Mike pressed on. On November 20, he arrived at James’ grave, where Lynn waited. They hugged. Then came the tears—not of sorrow, but relief. A part of James lived on, and two strangers connected by loss and hope became family.
24.What does the underlined word “deteriorated” mean in paragraph 2?
A.declined. B.Improved. C.Recovered. D.Stabilized.
25.What is the main idea of paragraph 4?
A.Mother’s love for her son. B.James’ amazing personalities.
C.Mike’s thoughtful response. D.Interaction between Lynn and Mike.
26.Why did Mike cycle cross-country in 2019?
A.To test his physical strength B.To show his great gratitude.
C.To raise fund for organ donation. D.To pick up his former hobby.
27.What is the best title for the text?
A.Organ donation matters. B.A great heart beats on.
C.A cross-country cyclist survives. D.Social media connects people.

A major reason why plastic bags and yogurt containers aren’t recycled is that it’s much more frugal to make these products from the ground up than to recover them. A new recycling technique reported in the journal Science promises a cost-effective way to transform these common plastic waste items into high-quality liquid fuels.
What makes plastics useful, namely their strength and resistance to high temperatures, becomes an annoyance when it comes to recycling the materials. The strong carbon-carbon bonds in these plastics require very high temperatures to break, making the process energy-consuming. Once the bonds break, the smaller molecules (分子) that are created quickly form new bonds, giving unwanted chemicals. These byproducts then have to be broken down again adding time and complexity.
Researchers developed a way to turn these plastics into useful fuels at temperatures below 100℃, without creating any side products. They conduct the chemical reaction in the presence of a new type of catalyst (催化剂) in a special acidic solution. In these reaction conditions, as soon as the carbon bonds in the plastic break apart, new bonds form in a controlled way, giving off the chemicals called alkanes. The alkanes can be used either as a fuel or as raw material for new plastics. The entire reaction takes place in a single reaction container. It takes only three hours and occurs at 70℃. By comparison, existing recycling techniques typically require two stages, take much longer and need temperatures of over 200℃.
The catalyst that the researchers use is already used by some factories. But it will take more research to know whether the technique can be translated to more occasions. If so, such a one-step, low-cost method to turn single-use plastics into chemicals, fuels and high-value materials could go a long way in making the plastic economy sustainable.
28.What does the underlined word “frugal” mean in paragraph 1?
A.Typical. B.Reliable. C.Reasonable. D.Economical.
29.What can we know about plastics from paragraph 2?
A.They stretch easily and quickly.
B.They fail to resist heat perfectly.
C.They are stable in chemical properties.
D.They are productive in poisonous gases
30.What does the new way of recycling plastics feature?
A.Keeping new bonds from forming. B.Regulating acidity of the solution.
C.Stressing cleanliness and speed. D.Extending functions of plastics.
31.What is researchers’ attitude toward the technique’s wide application?
A.Critical. B.Mindful. C.Hopeless. D.Optimistic.
D
While Ozempic causes “significant lean mass loss”, it burns calories with no apparent side effects. Scientists claim they have discovered a new drug that promotes weight loss similar to Ozempic, but without much loss of muscle.
The 47 scientists behind the study hope the new drug candidate, which is referred to as NK2R, could eventually become an option for people who haven’t had success with other weight loss treatment. “Many slimming pills can cause an unpleasant vomiting (呕吐) response. However, our drug had no such side effect,” Zach Gerhart-Hines — co-author on the study — told BBC. “Compared to Ozempic, it causes little muscle loss.”
So how does it work? The research claims NK2R affects the body in two main ways: firstly, by targeting your brain and reducing appetite. Secondly, the drug increases calorie burning in the muscles and body fat. NK2R, the scientists say, acts on a different neural circuit in the brain than Ozempic. Ozempic boosts calorie burning by mimicking (模仿) a hormone called GLP-1, which reduces hunger and appetite, while NK2R drug works differently. It targets a molecule (分子) found naturally in the body’s cells, known also as NK2R. Scientists say activating NK2R through the drug can influence blood sugar and body weight. When the research team administered the drug to overweight mice, it resulted in weight loss and a decrease in food intake.
But some health experts have reservations about the impact this treatment will have on humans. “The study is currently a theory based on animals. Will it work in practice?” Dr. Adam Collins — Associate Professor of Nutrition at the University of Surrey — explained to BBC.
Researchers aim to begin clinical trials of NK2R on humans within the next two years.
32.What can be learned from paragraph 2?
A.NK2R will take the place of Ozempic. B.Ozempic usually leads patients to vomit.
C.NK2R may be popular among customers. D.NK2R causes no muscle loss compared to Ozempic.
33.How does the author explain how NK2R functions?
A.By quoting authorities. B.By listing numbers.
C.By making comparisons. D.By giving examples.
34.What is Dr. Adam Collins’s attitude towards NK2R?
A.Doubtful. B.Objective. C.Concerned. D.Indifferent.
35.Why does the author write the text?
A.To advertise for NK2R. B.To introduce a new diet pill.
C.To stress the importance of health. D.To inform readers of NK2R’s function.

The Impact of Technology on Modern Education
Technology is developing fast these years and changing our lives a lot, especially in education. For hundreds of years, traditional classroom settings have been the basic part of education. 36
Firstly, the use of digital devices such as tablets and laptops in the classroom has made it easier for students to access a vast amount of information instantly. 37 Instead of relying solely on textbooks, students-can now explore a wide-range-of resources, including online articles and videos. This not only enriches their knowledge but also helps them develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Moreover, online learning platforms have revolutionized the way students learn and interact with their teachers and peers. 38 Nowadays students can attend virtual classes, submit assignments, and receive feedback from their teachers at any time and from anywhere. This flexibility is particularly beneficial of students who have busy schedules or live in remote areas, as it allows them to continue their education without being physically present in a classroom.
39 One of the main concerns is the digital divide, which refers to the gap between those who have access to digital technology and those who do not. Many students from low-income families. may not have access to computers or the internet at home. This can result in unequal educational opportunities, as students without access to the necessary technology may fall behind their peers.
Additionally, there is a risk that students may become overly dependent on technology, which could affect their ability to think independently and solve problems with out relying on digital tools. 40 Teachers need to strike a balance between using technology to enhance learning and encouraging students to develop their own cognitive abilities.
A.But now, digital tools and online platforms are changing them.
B.Students may also become distracted by the numerous digital devices.
C.Technology allows educators to meet the unique needs of each student.
D.Students can now access information from around the world in seconds.
E.However, the technology in education also comes with some challenges.
F.The traditional classroom is still the most effective way to teach students.
G.The convenience of online learning platforms has made education more accessible.

The great statue of a winged lion standing in Venice’s Saint Mark’s Square has watched over the city for centuries.
But Italian scientists have now found evidence to suggest the well-known statue was at least in part made in China, and possibly ended up 56 Venice through the Silk Road after being brought back by the father and uncle of the 57 (explore), Marco Polo.
Scientists from the University of Padua found that the metal 58 (use) to make the Venetian winged lion was mined in the lower Yangtze area of south-eastern China.
The lion shares 59 (similarity) with the kind of statue that might have guarded a burial site during the Tang Dynasty. The scientists suggested the whole statue could have been brought to Venice after 60 (encounter) by Maffeo Polo during their visit to Beijing.
However, 61 (surprising) little is known of the statue’s history. “We don’t know when the sculpture arrived in Venice, who did it, or when it was put up on the column 62 it is still visible today,” said Massimo Vidale. The scientists said their study did show the geographical reach of the Venetian Republic 63 the interconnectedness of its world.
“Venice is 64 city with many secrets, but one has been solved: the Lion of Saint Mark is Chinese, and he 65 (walk) the Silk Road centuries ago,” Vidale said.

67.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
When I landed in a small town in New Zealand as an exchange student, I thought I was ready for everything — new faces, language barriers, strange social patterns and even homesickness. Still, the smallest things made me feel out of place.
Luckily, the Wilsons, my host family, did everything they could to help me settle in — driving me around, sharing meals, and even letting me use their kitchen when. I. missed Chinese food. With their warmth and support, everything seemed to fall into place.
But at school, small moments felt bigger than I’d imagined. In our first literature class, we discussed a Hemingway story. Everyone jumped in actively, while I struggled to speak up. My desk-mate encouraged me, “Next time, just speak up.” I nodded, forcing a bitter smile.
And just like that, I found myself in another cultural trap, Mrs. Wilson’s birthday dinner. At the table, I answered politely but kept mostly to myself. Mrs. Wilson noticed my silence and gently asked, “You alright, sweet girl? You’ re so quiet tonight.” My face reddened. Was my silence seen as cold, rather than polite?
That night, restless and wide awake, I wondered if I needed to laugh louder, speak faster; or hide parts of myself just to feel I belonged. Questions flooded my mind, none with answers.
A few days later, our teacher announced there would be a Culture Festival next week. “You’ ll prepare a stand to share your own culture — food, crafts, customs ... anything meaningful. You can not only display your culture but also make it interactive, allowing people to try new things, learn traditional skills. or share stories and cultural symbols,” she said. The class lit up with excitement. I sat frozen, mind racing: how could I share my traditions in English? The thought made my stomach twisted (扭曲). Yet, I gathered myself with a deep breath and signed up. After that, I threw myself wholeheartedly into preparations, until the day finally came.
注意:
(1)续写词数应为150个左右;
(2)请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答。
At the Culture Festival, I stood behind my stand, nervous but ready.

I'm sharing an embarrassing personal experience that taught me one of the most important lessons of my career. My first company was an online marketplace connecting small independent artists and makers with customers age twenty two with my shiny new business degree in hand, I thought time you at all. But I had much to learn about people management. I was good at choosing the right people. And my small, hard working team moved mountains during those early days. After a successful first year, I booked a fancy restaurant to celebrate. As we were leaving, I noticed mr. Green, our cleaner, sweeping the floor. He wished us a great night, and I realized I had left him out. I simply hadn't considered him a part of the team, but he was. He kept our works space clean. He fixed the ancient printer without complaint. We couldn't do anything without him, so I asked my assistance to contact the restaurant and up data reservation while I apologize and invited mr. As leaders, we must realize that those working beneath us form the very foundation of our success. Without them, everything falls apart.

Audio Technica Hotaru $10,000 (£7,480), audio-technica.com
21.What is an advantage of E15?
A.It requires a buried wire to operate. B.It can detect obstacles while cutting.
C.It is designed for lawns over 1,200 m2. D.It can predict when it rains or gets dark.
22.How much do you pay for 2 Switches with 2 Mario Kart World the least?
A.£736 B.£617 C.£686 D.£790
23.What helps Audio Technica Hotaru provide maximum musical faithfulness?
A.Its amazing look. B.Its creative design.
C.Its application of vibrations. D.Its combination of sound and light.
根据第一段“the E15 is smart enough to detect trees, borders and even pets while cutting. (E15足够智能,在割草时能够识别树木、边界,甚至宠物。)”可知,E15的优势之一是割草时能识别障碍物。故选B。
22.细节理解题。根据第二段“The Switch 2 will cost £395 and Mario Kart World £65 in the UK. You just need to pay £429 if you bundle (捆绑购买) them (a set). Buy the Switch 2 alone now and you’ll get a 10% discount. If you buy 2 sets or more, you can enjoy a 20% discount.

阅读下面短文,在空白处填入1个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。

62.考查定语从句。句意:我们不知道这座雕塑是什么时候到达威尼斯的,是谁做的,也不知道它是什么时候被立在今天仍然可以看到它的柱子上的。“ ____ it is still visible today”是定语从句,修饰先行词the column,关系将其代入从句中作地点状语,应用关系副词where引导该从句。故填where。
63.考查连词。句意:科学家们表示,他们的研究确实显示了威尼斯共和国的地理范围及其世界的相互联系。“the geographical reach of the Venetian Republic”和“the interconnectedness of its world”是并列关系,应用连词and连接。故填and。
故填a。

【答案】Dear friends,
Good afternoon!

注意:
(1)续写词数应为150个左右;

【答案】【参考范文】(116+115词)

注意:
(1)续写词数应为150个左右;
(2)请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答。
At the Culture Festival, I stood behind my stand, nervous but ready.
