Have you ever thought about what’s more important, looking fashionable (流行的) or feeling comfortable (舒适的)? You might have noticed (注意到) many people choosing style (款式) over comfort and some even go to extremes (极端) to follow fashion (时尚) . But we should remember: being fashionable isn’t everything. It’s more important to be healthy.
Some people believe that they need to be a certain size to look good. So, they start extreme (极端的) diets that are not good for their health. They might not eat meals or eat too little, which can make them feel sick. Is it a healthy way to live?
Also, many girls wear shoes with very high heels (高跟). They might think high heels make them look taller. But these shoes can actually hurt their feet and make it hard to walk comfortably and it can increase risks (增加风险) of falls. Some even wear tight (紧的) clothes that influence (影响) blood circulation (循环), making it hard to breathe. Should we put fashion over comfort and physical (身体的) health?
Besides, some boys and girls spend a lot of time and money changing their hair color. The material (材料) they use is usually bad for their health. Is it really worth it to risk our health, spending so much time and money?
So, let’s rethink what’s really important. Is it fashion or is it our well-being? Clothes or hairstyles don’t tell us anything about a person’s character (性格). So we could use time to do meaningful things with friends. Let’s eat healthily and exercise regularly (有规律地). Remember, your worth is not decided by how you look, but by who you are as a person.

A. Because the diets are healthy. B. Because they just want to look good.
C. Because they want to save time. D. Because they want to save money.
6. What is the writer’s purpose (目的) of using a question in each paragraph?
A. To ask for help from readers. B. To lead readers to think about the topic.
C. To describe the latest fashion. D. To tell readers how to spend time and money.
7. Which of the following is NOT true?
A. Health is more important than good looks.
B. Clothes or hairstyles decide a person’s character.
C. We should spend time on meaningful things with friends.
D. It’s important to eat healthily and exercise regularly.
8. Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage?

The time-eating monster
Have you ever noticed a monster around us? It’s not big or scary, but it’s very dangerous. This monster comes in many forms—games, social media and TV shows. You may ask, “It brings us so much fun. So why do you say it’s a monster?”
At first, we may all think, “I’ll just have a little fun.” We turn on the computer and start a game. But soon the monster takes over. It starts to eat away our time, minute by minute. But we just sit there and look at the screen without noticing it at all.
We often get lost in the monster’s world like this. We become couch potatoes with sore necks and dry eyes. We miss out on sweet moments with loved ones. We are deaf to the real world.
Just remember, too much fun also makes Jack a dull boy! The time-eating monster will always be there. But we can keep it away by having fun in a balanced way.

They also use tools that are hot enough to burn their hair. But using these tools too often or at very high temperatures (温度) can make the hair dry or even burnt (焦). Is it really worth it to risk our health, spending so much time and money?
So, let’s rethink what’s really important. Is it fashion or is it our well-being? Clothes or hairstyles don’t tell us anything about a person’s character (性格).
A. B. C. D.
