He taught himself through reading lots of borrowed books.
He found storms could move from place to place, and his findings helped predict the weather.
He invented a type of special glasses to help him see better.
He saw learning as an exciting and endless journey.
Benjamin Franklin: a lifelong learner
The full text is organized in time order, covering Franklin’s growth from early childhood to his late 70s. The title closely fits the main idea. The opening introduces Franklin’s talents, which root in his lifelong learning habit; the ending directly points out that he treats learning as an endless journey.

Activity 5
I have learnt that we should always stay curious about the world and keep learning all the time. Continuous exploration and learning can bring us far more growth than we expect. For example, I am interested in robot models. In my spare time, I look up professional knowledge online and try to make small robot works by myself. I have mastered lots of knowledge beyond textbooks, just like Franklin studied storms out of curiosity and gained valuable findings.
Activity 6
Think and answer the question.
What does it mean to grow up for you?
In my view, real growth comes from deep self-reflection. After every experience, I will think about what I did well and what I messed up. This helps me avoid repeating mistakes and make progress step by step. It makes us gentle, independent and thoughtful.
I think growing up is knowing myself. When I was little, I cared too much about what others thought of me. Now I can face my shortcomings bravely and be proud of my advantages. I know who I am.
In my opinion, growth means being brave enough to ask for help. I used to hide my worries because I feared being laughed at. Later I realized everyone meets difficulties. Talking to people I trust can ease my stress and bring me new ideas.
