How to protect sharks?
How to Protect Sharks: An Appeal from WWF
Dear friends,
I am Li Hua, a new member of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). Today, I write to you with an urgent message: sharks are in danger and need our immediate protection
Current Situation of Sharks
Sharks have thrived(繁衍生息) in the oceans for over 400 million years, yet today, nearly one-third of shark species face extinction. The demand for shark fins, driven by the cruel practice of shark finning, kills over 100 million sharks annually. Additionally, habitat destruction(栖息地破坏), plastic pollution(塑料污染), and climate change(气候变化) further threaten their survival. As apex predators(顶级捕食者), sharks maintain the balance of marine ecosystems(海洋生态系统的平衡). Their disappearance would trigger catastrophic effects on(对...
How to Protect Sharks
We must act decisively. First, support laws banning shark finning and the trade of shark products. Many countries have already implemented such regulations, but global enforcement remains weak. Second, reduce plastic consumption to prevent ocean pollution. Every piece of plastic avoided saves marine life. Third, promote sustainable fishing practices(可持续的捕鱼行为) and advocate for marine protected areas. Finally, spread awareness. Educate friends and family about sharks’ ecological value and reject products that harm them.
Let’s act now before silence replaces the ripple of their presence in our oceans.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
