Lions are big and strong. They have grey or yellow fur and sharp teeth, which make them look really powerful.
Lions can run fast and are good at hunting. They live in groups on grasslands and seldom move far. They are meat-eating animals. But now lions face great danger. People hunt them, and grasslands are turned into farms and roads, so they lose their warm homes.
To protect them, we should make laws to stop hunting and build more nature reserves. Let’s work together to save lovely lions!

One sunny afternoon, I went for a walk on the beach. There I saw a special crab (螃蟹). It had two claws (蟹钳). One claw was much bigger and longer than the other. I had never seen such a crab before. So on my way home from the beach, I walked into the library.
Luckily, I found a book named Come with Me to the Edge of the Sea. It had many pictures of animals living near the sea. The pictures of male fiddler crabs (招潮蟹) looked quite like the crab I found on the beach. I learned a lot about that kind of crab.
Sometimes a fiddler crab puts the small claw across the big one. It looks like it is playing the fiddle(小提琴) when it does this, so some people call it the fiddler crab. Sometimes it waves its big claw. It looks like it is saying hello. That’s why other people call it the calling crab. Fiddler crabs’ eyes are on long eye stalks (眼柄). They can put up their eye stalks to look around. It makes them look taller. These crabs are very small. There are lots of other bigger beach animals that want to eat them. They dig holes in the sand. The holes are their homes. They are safe inside. Sometimes the sea water can bring food into their holes.
11.The fiddler crabs get their name because________
A.they look like fiddles B.they like playing the fiddle
C.their claws move like playing the violin D.they wave their big claws
12.Which of the following about the fiddler crabs’ homes is TRUE?
A.They find holes on the beach to stay in.
B.Their homes are usually under the sea.
C.They mainly get their food from their homes.
D.They can hide in the holes they dig in the sand.
13.We may find this passage in a(n) ________.
A.Advertisement B.instruction C.magazine D.poster
【答案】11.C 12.D 13.C

【详解】11.根据原文第三段“Sometimes a fiddler crab puts the small claw across the big one. It looks like it is playing the fiddle (小提琴) when it does this, so some people call it the fiddler crab.”可知,招潮蟹得名是因为它钳子的动作看起来像拉小提琴。
12.根据原文第三段“They dig holes in the sand. The holes are their homes. They are safe inside.”可知,招潮蟹会自己在沙里挖洞,躲在洞中保证安全。
13.本文是一篇科普类叙事短文,介绍海滩生物招潮蟹的相关知识,这类文章最可能出现在杂志。

Animals are people’s good friends. Many people hope to talk with their pets in everyday life. This may sound too good to be true, but scientists are now using AI to help make this dream come true. Karen Bakker, a teacher at the University of British Columbia in Canada, believes that AI will bring humans closer to the world of animals and plants in the future. “AI helps humans talk with bats and bees,” Bakker said. How does it work?
When bats talk with each other, scientists first record their sounds and input (输入) them into a computer. Then, they use AI to find out what the bats say and try to speak back to them. Humans cannot hear these sounds with their own ears, but AI makes it possible for us to understand and “speak” back to the bats by training a computer to “speak” like a bat. Scientists also found an interesting fact: When baby bats start to learn to “speak”, mother bats often lower their voices. However, human mothers often raise their voices during this time.
As for bees, scientists use a computer to both listen to and watch them in order to study their language. Scientists now know how bees send messages like “stop”. They even made a robot bee that can talk with other bees.
14.How do scientists study bat communication according to the passage?
A.By training bats to understand human languages.
B.By recording bat sounds and analyzing them with AI.
C.By using robots to directly talk to bats in their language.
D.By teaching bats to use computers to send messages.
15.What’s the second paragraph mainly about?
A.How bats talk to each other. B.Why people hope to talk with bats.
C.How people use AI to talk with bats. D.Why humans can’t hear the bats’ sounds with their own ears.
16.Which of the following statements is TRUE based on the passage?
A.Humans can hear bat sounds without AI technology.
B.Karen Bakker believes AI will separate humans from nature.
C.Bats and bees use the same language to send messages.
D.Scientists created a robot bee to communicate with real bees.
17.Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage?
A.①/②/③④⑤ B.①②③④/⑤ C.①②③/④/⑤ D.①②/③/④⑤

Like people, animals need to rest after working hard. Some animals sleep in water. Others dig holes under the ground. Some even sleep high in trees or under leaves. But they all find a way to rest.
Some animals in the sea sleep in strange ways. Fish sleep with their eyes open. They seem to look ahead (前方) far into the sea when they rest. Sea otters sometimes sleep in beds of the plants that grow in the sea. This keeps them from moving away. Parrotfish blow something from their mouth when they are ready to sleep. Then there’s a bubble around them. The bubble protects them when they sleep.
Some animals sleep under the ground. Chipmunks sleep curled up (蜷缩) in a ball. Their beds are made of leaves and grass. In winter, they sleep for two weeks and wake up to eat the stored (储存的) food. Then they go back to sleep for another two weeks before waking up again. Some desert frogs dig underground holes during the hot and dry season. A frog may stay in its hole for months.
High above the ground, monkeys find leafy (叶茂的) places in trees in each evening before they sleep. The tall trees help to keep monkeys safe during the night. Some insects even sleep under the leaf that will be their next meal. A bee may climb down into a flower to rest. When it climbs out the next morning, it is also ready for work.
18.What animals blow bubbles when they sleep?
A.Sea otters. B.Monkeys. C.Desert frogs. D.Parrotfish.
19.What do we know about chipmunks according to the text?
A.They rest with their eyes open. B.They wake up about every 2 weeks in winter.
C.They never sleep curled up in a ball. D.They don’t eat any food during the whole winter.
20.What is the structure (结构) of the text? (Paragraph1= 1)
A. B. C. D.
21.What does the last paragraph mainly talk about?
A.Forests where monkeys can sleep safely.

C.The ways that keep animals away from danger.
D.The reason why bees climb down into flowers.

The first place that I can well remember was a large happy meadow (草原) with a pond (池塘) of clear water in it and some trees around. On one side of the meadow was a field, and on the other we looked over a gate at our master’s house by the roadside. While I was young I lived upon my mother’s milk. In the daytime I ran by her side, and at night I lay down close by her. As soon as I was old enough to eat grass my mother often went out to work in the daytime, and came back in the evening.
There were six young horses in the meadow besides me. They were older than I was. Some were nearly as large as grown-up horses. I often ran with them, and had great fun. Sometimes we had very rough play, for they would bite and kick as well as run.
One day, when there was much kicking, my mother said to me kindly. “I wish you to pay attention to what I am going to say to you. They are good horses, but they have not learned manners. You have been well-born and well-bred. Your father has a great name, and your grandfather won the cup two years running at the Newmarket races. Your grandmother had the sweetest temper (脾气) of any horse I ever knew, and I think you never see me kick or bite. I hope you will grow up gentle and good, and never learn bad ways.”
I never forget my mother’s advice. I knew she was a wise old horse, and our master thought a great deal of her, Her name was Duchess, but he often called her Pet. And on a market day, he always went to the town with my mother.
Our master was kind. He spoke as kindly to us as he did to his little children. He often patted (轻拍) my mother and said, “Well, old Pet, and how is your little Darkie?” I was a dull black, so he called me Darkie. Then he would give me a piece of nice bread. All the horses liked him, but I think we were his favourites.
There was a boy, Dick. He sometimes came into our field to pick blackberries. After he ate enough he would play tricks on the horses, throwing stones and sticks at them to make them run. We did not much mind him, for we could run off. But sometimes a stone would hit and hurt us.One day he was at this game. He didn’t know our master was there, watching what was going on.
—Adapted from Black Beauty by Anna Sewell

Nature is full of great ideas. Some inventors get ideas from nature to make some useful things. One amazing invention was a new cane to help blind people. It helps them move around more safely. This invention was an idea from bats. The cane works by sending out sound waves or signals (信号). These signals are almost the same as the bats use when they fly.
How bats get around
Bats make sounds when they fly at night. People cannot hear these sounds, but they help bats fly in the dark. Bats send sound waves out of their mouth or nose. These sound waves hit objects around them. Then they come back as an echo (回声). The echo tells bats how far away things like trees are. It also helps them know where to find food to eat.
An amazing idea
The scientist who invented the new cane watched how bats fly. Then he built a lightweight cane.
He added something that sends and receives sound waves. Finally, he tested the cane. It worked!
_____________
The cane sends out signals. When an echo is sent back, the cane’s handle vibrates (震动). This helps the person holding the cane know how far away an object is. They will also know how big the object is.
This cane shows that great ideas really can come from nature.
54.How can some inventors make useful things?
55.What tells bats how far away things are?
56.What subtitle (小标题) can you put in the blank?
【答案】54.By getting ideas from nature.
55.The echo.
56.A new cane from bats./The bat-inspired cane.

A
One sunny afternoon, I went for a walk on the beach.

B.Their homes are usually under the sea.
C.They mainly get their food from their homes.
D.They can hide in the holes they dig in the sand.
13.We may find this passage in a(n) ________.
A.Advertisement B.instruction C.magazine D.poster

C
B.The animals that sleep above the ground.
C.The ways that keep animals away from danger.
D.The reason why bees climb down into flowers.
D

C.Bats and bees use the same language to send messages.
D.Scientists created a robot bee to communicate with real bees.
17.Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage?
