Culture shock occurs when people have been suddenly thrown into a new culture.
Newcomers may be anxious because they don't speak the language.Neither do they know
the customs nor understand the people's behavior in daily life.
Quite often the visitor finds that“yes”may not always mean“yes”,that friendliness
does not necessarily mean friendship,or that statements that appear to be serious are really
intended as jokes. The foreigners may be unsure as to when to shake hands, when to start
conversations,or how to approach a stranger. The idea of culture shock helps explain the
feelings of puzzlement and confusion.
Language problems do not account for all the setback that people feel. When one has
lost everything that was once familiar, such as understanding a transportation system,
knowing how to register for university classes,or knowing how to make friends, difficulties
in coping with the new society may arise.
When an individual enters a strange culture,he or she feels like a fish out of water.
Newcomers feel at times that they do not belong to the culture and feel deserted by the
native members of the culture. When this happens, visitors may want to reject everything
about the new environment and may glorify and sing their own praises of the positive
aspects of their own culture. On the other side, more visitors may sneeze at their native
country by rejecting its value and instead choosing to approve of the value of the new
country. This may occur as an attempt to accept the new culture in order to be taken in by the
people in it.
4.What do people feel when they are abruptly in a new culture?
A.Excited.
B.Delighted.
C.Upset.
D.Hopeless.
5.We can infer from the second paragraph that
A.it's impossible to get used to a new culture
B.people feel confused due to culture shock
C.foreigners often don't mean what native people say
D.most foreigners are usually quite humorous

B.the transportation

第一节
A

be anxious because they don't speak the language.
Neither do they know the customs nor understand the
people's behavior in daily life.(由于语言不通、不了解
foreigners may be unsure as to when to shake hands,
when to start conversations,or how to approach a
stranger. The idea of culture shock helps explain the
feelings of puzzlement and confusion.(外地人可能不
may be anxious because they don't speak the
language.”
at times that they do not belong to the culture and feel
deserted by the native members of the culture. When
this happens, visitors may want to reject everything
about the new environment and may glorify and sing
their own praises of the positive aspects of their own
I,ise Meitner是一

Meitner finished school at the age of 14,she could not
go to college for higher education,as were all girls in
Austria.”
l0.A推理判断题。根据第三段中的“..but as an
Austrian Jewish woman, she was excluded from the
main labs and allowed to work only in the
basement..”
ll.C推理判断题。
ignored by the Nobel committee(委员会),refused to
return to Germany after the war and continued her
atomic research in Stockholm into her80s.”
Meitner

泡泡,根据第一段中的“Do just as follows'”可知这篇

blow bigger bubbles..”
l4.A细节理解题。
wand or straw into the mixture, slowly pull it out,

handful of ways that will set you in the right
B项“Where
do you start?”
定位关键词“people who make you feel not--good
enough”、“your life is better than theirs'”,据此可推
yourself with others..”
D项“you are only human”的具体解释,即我们只是
You have a job,earned your degree,and you
got out of bed today..”
C项“Nothing is
too small to celebrate.(再小的事都值得庆祝。)”
"Turn to a page in your journal to your list of
strengths and achievements.See how awesome you
are?”
这正是针对A项“Feeling upset again?”

Responsible or civilized tourism behaviors are of
great importance for everyone.Cultural relics and
natural scenery belong to everyone, including the
generations to come,so we should protect them. And
good tourism behaviors can have a good effect on others
to follow.
First, when we enjoy ourselves in tour sites, don't
throw rubbish everywhere-you can take a small bag
with you,and then throw them in the dustbin.Second,
don't draw or write anything on the walls or anywhere
else, for it will be very annoying and it is hard to remove
later.Besides,be friendly to the workers and other
visitors, and give a hand if help is needed.
Let's join in and work together to make a
difference!

home.I explained the possible reason why he needed to
stay a day longer in the hospital. He opened up and even
put a smile on his face.I felt excited, asking,"Is there
anything else I can do for you?""No,I believe you have
done a great deal.I feel much better than before you
came in.I can't thank you enough.
Paragraph 2:
I felt I had made a small difference.I was proud
of my role as a nurse and thought it a wise decision to go
back to nursing.I kept in touch with the old man though
he had already been released from the hospital. We
