Dear Andy,
I’m so happy to hear from you. And I’m glad to tell you something about myself.
My best friend is Zhang Mei. She is kind and funny. She often helps me with my studies and makes me laugh. After school, I usually play basketball with my friends for an hour. Then I go home and do my homework. Sometimes I read storybooks in the evening. This summer holiday, I went to Beijing with my parents. We visited the Great Wall and the Summer Palace. It was amazing! I learned a lot about Chinese history. I really enjoyed the trip.
What about you? I’m looking forward to your reply.
Yours,
Lily

After school she stopped me and invited me for a talk. Confused, I followed her to her desk. She said, “I think you are 12 for the lead character. But I was surprised you didn’t raise your hand.”
Me, the lead? Was she crazy?
Mrs. Smith looked into my eyes as if seeing my inner 13 locked away inside. “But I’d like you to give this a try for me.” she continued. “If you reach for the stars, you might at least catch a piece of the moon.”
I realized it was time to show myself 14 . I looked Mrs. Smith right in her sparkling (闪亮的) blue eyes and said, “OK. I’ll try.”
In the following months, I did everything I could to 15 I could do it.

One day, the boy ran into his grandfather’s house. He was very excited to tell about a class 17 project. Do you ever go shopping at the supermarket with your family? Next time, you can be a great helper and smart shopper. There is a new rule that makes the pure (纯) milk we drink even better than before. So, how do you find the best milk for your family? This guide will teach you a very useful skill. It’s easy and fun, like a food detective (侦探). Let’s learn the secrets to choosing the healthiest and freshest milk on the shelf.
First, you need to know about a big change. In the past, some milk was made by adding water to milk powder (奶粉). This milk was okay, but it wasn’t the freshest. Now, the new rule is very simple: all milk with “Pure Milk” written on the carton must be made from 100% fresh milk. This fresh milk comes directly from healthy cows on a farm. Because it is not made from powder, it keeps more of the natural good things inside, like vitamins, that help our bodies grow strong.
So, here is your job at the supermarket. The first step is to look for cartons that clearly say “Pure Milk”. This is your first clue (线索). After you find one, it’s time for the second, secret step. Turn the carton and look for a special code (编码). This code is a line of numbers and letters, and it is GB 25190. This number is very important. It is like a special promise that the milk inside is truly fresh. If you see this code, you will find the best choice!
When you find a milk carton with this code, you can proudly show it to your parents. You can tell them, “Look! I found the real pure milk!” They will be very happy and proud of you. Knowing how to read the information on food packages is a great skill. It helps your family stay healthy. Now you are not just a kid who goes shopping, but a smart milk detective!
29.Which of the following advantages (优点) will the pure milk have under the new rule?
①much fresher ②with more powder ③with more vitamins ④more delicious ⑤make us stronger
A.①②⑤ B.①③⑤ C.②③⑤ D.②③④
30.The underlined word “It” in the last paragraph refers to ________.

Last night we were the only people to get to Game Hut at 9:00. So we quickly put up our tent in front of the shop. To stop anyone from cutting in line, we took turns to keep watch. I even let Rowley sleep first, because that’s just the kind of person I am.
However, when I woke Rowley up for his turn, he fell back asleep at once. So I ended up staying awake the whole night. By morning, I was tired out so I ate some chocolate. With chocolate all over my hands, I got an idea. I slipped my hand into the tent. I thought it would be funny to make Rowley think it was the monster (怪物) —the muddy hand.
But before I could check his reaction (反应) , he hit my hand hard with a hammer (锤子) ! My thumb turned purple. I was very angry not because he hit me, but because he thought a hammer could stop the muddy hand. Everyone knows you need fire or acid for that!
Just then, the guy from Game Hut showed up. I tried to forget the pain and explained we were there for the video game match. He had no idea what I was talking about, so I pointed to the poster in the window. He said the shop wasn’t really set up for a video game match. But since there were only two of us, we could play a death match in the back room. But with my injured thumb, I could do nothing. Finally Rowley beat me 15-0.
—Adapted from Diary of a Wimpy Kid

34.What’s the right order of the story?
a. Rowley and I got to Game Hut.

Everywhere you look, there are either constant warnings about the health risks linked with eating too many ultra-processed foods (UPFs), or constant temptations (诱惑) to eat them anyway. But while condemned (谴责) by those promoting (促进) a healthy lifestyle, UPFs may be less important to your lifespan (寿命) than the quality of your diet overall, according to a Harvard University study.
Based on the research published in the British Medical Journal (期刊), UPFs often include additives (添加剂) like colouring and flavours, and are typically high in energy, sugar, fat and salt, without the benefits of vitamins or fiber. Certain foods can negatively influence your health more than others, with the worst being ready-to-eat meat and seafood products, along with fizzy drinks, dairy-based desserts and highly processed breakfast foods such as sugary cereals.
Over 34 years, researchers tracked the health of nearly 75,000 women and nearly 40,000 men in the US. Every two years, these people reported on their health; and every four years they completed a detailed diet questionnaire (调查问卷).
The research team split the participants into quarters depending on their consumption of UPFs: the lowest quarter consumed about three UPF servings per day while the highest quarter ate seven UPFs per day. They discovered that those in the top quarter had a four percent higher risk of all deaths. There was also a nine percent higher risk of death by specific causes, such as neurodegenerative diseases like dementia (老年痴呆).
Crucially, the study found that the link between UPF consumption and death was weakened when they factored in overall diet. This means a higher quality of diet (for example, one containing lots of vegetables, fruits and whole grain items) may be more important than the quantity of UPFs you eat.
The researchers say that you don’t need to limit all UPFs, just those that most affect your long-term health.
“It might not be as simple as those who ate more ultra-processed foods were more likely to die earlier,” says dietitian Dr Duane Mellor, who wasn’t involved in the study. “It’s quite possible that these foods might displace (取代) healthier foods from the diet.”
36.What is the function (功能) of the first sentence in Paragraph 1?
A.To express an idea. B.To summarize the main idea.
C.To introduce the topic. D.To show the author’s attitude.
37.Which of the following doesn’t belong to UPFs?
A.ready-to-eat seafood products B.sugary cereals
C.ready-to-eat meat D.whole grain items
38.How did the scientists collect the research-related data?
①medical checkup ②participants’ reports ③questionnaires ④diaries
A.①② B.②③ C.①③ D.②④
39.Which of the following can be inferred from the passage?
A.All UPFs should be restricted if we want to live a healthy life.
B.A higher quality diet is suggested for the benefit of a healthy body.
C.Nine percent higher risks of all deaths in the top quarter are linked to consumption of UPFs.
D.Those who ate more ultra-processed foods had a higher chance to die earlier than those who ate less, regardless of overall diet quality.
40.Where can this passage be taken from?
A.A science journal. B.A research paper.
C.A travel brochure. D.A health magazine.

五、任务型阅读(共9小题;56~63小题每小题1分,64小题2分,满分10分)
Cleaning a house seems like a job that never ends. Have you ever stood in the middle of an untidy house, looking at the books and magazines around? You have the thought of tidying them up, but you give up before you start. Well, you are not alone. But luckily, I have found some nice ways to make myself willing to do the housework.
Have less stuff (物品)
Reducing (减少) the number of the things is a good way to make house cleaning easier. Every few months, I throw away some things we don’t need or use. It could be old clothes that no longer fit or books that I have already read and won’t pick up again. Fewer things make the house tidier and easier to clean.
Do a bit each day
Cleaning the whole house without a break can be really difficult, so I do a little each day. Monday could be the day to sweep the floors, Tuesday to make the bed, Wednesday to clean the bathroom, and so on. When the weekend comes, I can enjoy my free time watching a film or reading a good book instead of spending hours cleaning.
Start with the easiest task
When there’s a long list of housework, it can be hard to know where to begin. If so, I will start with the easiest task. When I complete the easiest task successfully, it will give me a sense of achievement. In this way, I will be more willing to go on with the rest of the housework.
Make housework interesting
Who says housework has to be boring? I’ve found that adding a little fun can make a big difference. I love listening to music and cleaning at the same time. As the music plays, I find myself dancing around. Time flies by and before I know it, the house is clean. I feel excited at the same time. It’s a win-win situation.
In short, housework doesn’t have to be something you hate. By using these ways, you can make it easier, or more enjoyable. You might even surprisingly find that you don’t mind cleaning at all.

I looked out at all the smiling faces at the school gym. The applause (掌声) filled my ears. I did it! I found a new person inside me, a much braver, more outgoing person who had been hidden (隐藏) all along, just waiting for the 8 to appear.

Grandfathers often have a special relationship with their grandchildren. They can pass down some knowledge to the 16 generations (代). Mr. Worth also liked spending time with his grandson, Shawn. He enjoyed teaching Shawn some things he may not learn in school.
One day, the boy ran into his grandfather’s house. He was very excited to tell about a class 17 project. Shawn showed his grandfather the bean seeds (种子) and said his teacher taught students how to make the seeds grow in class. First, students put seeds on a 18 paper towel (纸巾) so that the seeds can take in some water. Then, they put them near a warm window. When the seeds sprout (发芽), students should 19 them into a pot.
20 , after listening to his grandson, Mr. Worth said, “You do just as you learn, but I want to show another thing about growing plants. When I was a boy, my father taught me that when the plant was starting, you should put some weight on it.”
Shawn didn’t seem to 21 his grandfather’s words. He asked, “Doesn’t the weight 22 the plant from growing?”
“No, of course not. 23 , you will make the plant strong and healthy. But if you give the plant everything it wants, it will grow too 24 and it will be weak. It may even fall over when the first big wind blows!”
Shawn listened carefully. He couldn’t wait to grow the bean as grandfather said and told friends 25 he learned that day. And he was sure they would grow the best bean plants.

A.being a smart milk detective
B.finding a milk carton with a special code
C.finding the real pure milk at the supermarket
D.knowing how to read the information on food packages
31.Which can be the best title for the article?
A.How to Find Special Code B.What Is Best Pure Milk Like
C.How to Choose Best Pure Milk D.What Big Change about Milk Powder
【答案】29.B 30.D 31.C
【导语】本文是一篇关于挑选牛奶的实用生活指南。
【详解】29.第2段:“...must be made from 100% fresh milk. ... Because it is not made from powder, it keeps more of the natural good things inside, like vitamins, that help our bodies grow strong.”
30.最后一段:“Knowing how to read the information on food packages is a great skill. It helps your family stay healthy.” 结合语境,前一句提到“知道如何阅读食品包装上的信息是一项很棒的技能”,紧接着说“它(It)能帮助你的家人保持健康”。由此可知,“It”指代的是前半句所表述的整个动作事件,即“knowing how to read the information on food packages”。
(How to Choose Best Pure Milk)”是最贴切的标题。

【详解】32.根据文章第二段“I slipped my hand into the tent. I thought it would be funny to make Rowley think it was the monster—the muddy hand.”可知,作者把手伸进帐篷,是想让Rowley以为那是怪物的泥手,即用巧克力手吓唬Rowley。

39. 根据第五段“higher quality of diet...may be more important”及第六段建议可知,为了健康益处,建议追求更高质量的饮食,故B项正确。
40. 文章引用了哈佛大学的研究和《英国医学期刊》的内容,但语言通俗易懂,旨在向大众普及健康饮食知识并提供建议,符合健康杂志(health magazine)的特征,而非专业的科研论文或期刊。
