The carved patterns tell a story: the meeting of ancient Nepali woodcarving craftsmanship with the new restoration technology from China. The ninestory Basantapur Tower is not just a building; it's Nepal's cultural DNA. This mid8thcentury pagodastyle structure suffered extensive damage in the 2015 earthquake. Today, as I look up at the 30metertall temple supported by several thousand carefully restored wooden components, I am witnessing a miracle crafted together by two civilizations. In Nepal's search for funding and technology to repair this ancient structure after the earthquake, the answer came from across the Himalayas. In 2017, China's National Cultural Heritage Administration sent a team more like a tech startup than traditional restorers. They brought laser scanners, hightech structural analysis software, and a philosophy: “Don't just fix the surface, strengthen the bones.” The most revolutionary intervention went unseen: flexible steel cables (绳索) running through hollowedout (挖空的) wooden posts enabled the structure to swing safely during an earthquake. Here, in this UNESCO World Heritage Site, I saw a currency of influence. The restoration cost pales ... compared to the value of knowledge transfer: Nepali restorers were trained in 3D modeling through workshops conducted in both Chinese and Nepali. More Chinese heritage workers are going abroad, bringing China's advanced techniques to the world, while more international conservationists are coming to China to learn its preservation principles and methods. This dance between tradition and innovation is a powerful demonstration of the transformative power of cultural exchange. If such exchanges can cross the Himalayas, they can travel greater distances, enlightening us all. As the morning winds of the Himalayas carry the metallic whispers of temple bells, I recall a profound insight: “Civilizations become enriched through exchanges and thrive through mutual learning.” 1.What do we know about the Basantapur Tower?( ) A.It is a palace of modern crafts. The pieces were composed using Chinese classical poetry, and immediately sparked Zhang's interest. Art song is written for solo voice and piano accompaniment, and combines poetry and music. One of the pieces, Wavewashing Sand: Rain Murmurs From Across the Curtain, based on a poem by Li Yu — the last emperor of the Southern Tang Dynasty during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period—captured Zhang's imagination. “I played it on the piano and was struck by its beauty,” he says. “The melody was graceful, the harmony was delicate, and the overall feeling was so poetic. It had a perfect level of difficulty—not too easy, nor too hard—making it ideal for the exam, and, more importantly, unfamiliar enough to ensure fairness for the candidates.” As he dove deeper into Valesby's work and the world of early Chinese art songs, he uncovered a musical landscape full of forgotten masterpieces. On March 8, he and his wife, singer Gan Lulu, released their new album, Treasures From the Past Century. It features not only compositions by Valesby, but also by notable Chinese composers. The couple performed tracks from the album at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, sharing their rediscovery. Zhang and Gan have been touring China since June 2023, performing and promoting the songs. Their concerts have been met with great enthusiasm. “Many people are hearing these pieces for the first time, but they are completely attracted and they let the music take them on a journey,” Gan says. In bringing these early Chinese art songs back to life, Zhang and Gan are not just breathing new life into forgotten music — they are reconnecting listeners to a cultural heritage that has long been overlooked. 5.What does the underlined word “captured” in paragraph 2 mean?( ) A.Lost. 6.What was the key reason why Zhang chose Wavewashing Sand for the entrance exam?( ) A.Its melody. B. Its difficulty. C.Its popularity. D. Its unfamiliarity. 根据第三段第三句“It had a perfect level of ... ensure fairness for the candidates.” 7.What can we know about Zhang Jialin and Gan Lulu's concerts?( ) A.Shortlived. B. Littleknown. C.Wellreceived. D.Newfashioned. 8.What is the main purpose of Zhang Jialin and Gan Lulu's work?( ) A.To create new art songs. B.To gain more reputation. C.To reawaken forgotten music. D.To show their musical talents. C (2026·河北保定十校联考)The ambiguity (模糊) effect describes how we tend to avoid options that we consider to be ambiguous or missing information. We dislike uncertainty and are therefore more likely to select an option where the probability of achieving a favorable outcome is known. Suppose during the college course registration, when choosing an elective, most pick the professor with average rating over the new one. We fear the unknown, but might miss a great course. We should consider positive risk outcomes too. Like any other cognitive bias (偏见) where decisionmaking is damaged, it is important to understand what the ambiguity effect is and how it influences us. From there, we can work towards developing the ability to recognize when we're engaging in this bias. This awareness will help us avoid this bias altogether, which will enable us to make wellinformed decisions. It has been suggested that the ambiguity effect is the result of a heuristic (探索法) used to facilitate decisionmaking. Like other heuristics, the ambiguity effect acts as a guideline for describing a general approach to problemsolving. This strategy occurs automatically and effortlessly, helping you to reach a conclusion quickly. However, by using heuristics, we risk drawing a conclusion that is inaccurate or misinformed because we fail to engage logic and reason. To avoid limiting ourselves, we need to learn to control our initial impulse (冲动) to avoid ambiguous options and situations. The first step to doing so is recognizing its existence and its influence over our decisionmaking. A major part of avoiding the ambiguity effect is being willing to put the time into making decisions. We're faced with so much information and so many choices within a given day that this can be an efficient way to distribute our mental resources. However, certain decisions deserve more effort. It can be helpful to review the situation. This may uncover that the less ambiguous option isn't as superior as it seems. Furthermore, when assessing the more ambiguous option, it's important to focus not just on what can go wrong, but also on what can go right. 9.What belongs to the ambiguity effect?( ) A.The tendency to choose options without information. B.The habit of avoiding options lacking in information. C.The preference for options with unknown probabilities. D.The action to take risks without considering influences. 根据第一段“The ambiguity (模糊) effect describes how we tend to avoid options that we consider to be ambiguous or missing information.” 10.What does the author think of heuristics?( ) A.They always lead to good decisions. B.They are less used than the ambiguity effect. C.They should never be used in decisionmaking. D.They can bring biases despite being efficient at times. 根据第四段“This strategy occurs automatically ... we fail to engage logic and reason.” 11.What is the author's suggestion on avoiding the ambiguity effect?( ) A.Putting more effort into making decisions. B.Selecting the less ambiguous option. C.Choosing the negative risk outcomes. D.Spending time on the known. 根据倒数第二段 “A major part of avoiding the ambiguity ... deserve more effort.” 12.What could be a suitable title for the text?( ) A.Reasons for Preferring What We Know B.The Complexities of College Course Selection C.Avoid Ambiguity Effect to Make Informed Decisions D.Learn to Select Options Through Ambiguity Effect 解析:C 标题归纳题。根据首段可知,本段介绍了模糊效应及人们在其影响下的通常做法,结合第四段中的“However, by using ... to engage logic and reason.”以及倒数第二段中的“To avoid limiting ... options and situations.”和尾段中的“It can be helpful to review the situation.” Ⅱ.阅读七选五(每小题2.5分) (2026·山东德州模拟)What if we take a closer look at the food chains in a garden? 1 Or how, as we put it in another way, everything gardens. I began by looking at which larger predatory (捕食性的) creatures are in my garden. Some predators are at the tops of the food chains. Others, of course, can be both predators and prey (猎物). 2 Working out the place occupied by various wildlife in my garden comes next. With most creatures in the garden, including common pests (有害动物), the key to successfully living with them and preventing population explosions lies in understanding what they eat and what eats them, that is, their place within garden food chains. We also need to understand that there will never be just one food chain in operation. 3 Just think of the number of different things that will eat different insect species. Looking at who is eating what, when, and where in our gardens can help us not only understand our gardens better but also get them to function better and find our own place as a gardener within the systems. 4 While these creatures are sometimes considered pests, they are extremely beneficial to keep the ecosystem in balance. Seeing connections with an open mind can help a gardener understand nothing in the world works on its own. 5 A.Why should we work out what eats what in a garden? B.The interdependence between garden creatures is limited. C.Different creatures will compete over various forms of prey. D.We should always let nature do some of the gardening as well. E.Moles, for example, eat earthworms and are sometimes eaten by foxes. F.We may begin to truly understand how every creature shapes its environment. G.For example, tracing the food chains in my garden, I let field mice inhabit the space. 3.解析:C 由上文“We also need to understand that there will never be just one food chain in operation.”及下文“Just think of the number of different things that will eat different insect species.” 4.解析:G 由上文“Looking at who is eating ... as a gardener within the systems.”及下文“While these creatures are sometimes considered pests, they are extremely beneficial to keep the ecosystem in balance.” 5.解析:D 由上文“Seeing connections with an open mind can help a gardener understand nothing in the world works on its own.”
