(2024·全国甲卷阅读B节选)
Animals can express their needs using a lot of ways. For instance, almost all animals have distinct vocals (声音) that they rely on to either ask for help, scare away any dangerous animals or look for shelter. But cats are special creatures who possess amazing vocalization skills. They are able to have entire conversations with humans using meows and you're able to interpret it. If a pet cat is hungry, it will keep meowing to attract attention and find food. However, when a cat is looking for affection, they tend to produce stretched and soft meows. Meowing starts as soon as a baby cat is brought to life and uses it to get the mother's attention and be fed.
24. What can be learned about cats' meowing from the first paragraph?
A.It's a survival skill.
B.It's taught by mother cats.
C.It's hard to interpret.
D.It's getting louder with age.
[分析题干]确定题干的关键词cats' meowing。
[综合概括] 根据“Animals can express their needs using a lot of ways. For instance, almost all animals have distinct vocals (声音) that they rely on to either ask for help, scare away any dangerous animals or look for shelter.”可知,动物依靠声音来寻求帮助、吓跑危险的动物或寻找庇护;根据“Meowing starts as soon as a baby cat is brought to life and uses it to get the mother's attention and be fed.”可知,猫宝宝一出生就开始喵喵叫是为了引起妈妈的注意并得到食物。综合以上细节,可知猫叫声是一种生存技能。

(课标变化题)Shared Mobility:Making Travel Easier for All
Shared mobility services, such as carsharing and bikesharing, have positive effects on the environment. However, access to these services is not equal for everyone.Research shows that shared mobility services are more commonly available in wealthier urban areas. Most users tend to be younger, wealthier, and physically able.To build a sustainable transportation system, it is essential to make these services inclusive for all people.
Some cities have introduced programs to support low-income residents. These programs help increase the use of shared vehicles and reduce dependence on personal cars. Recently, about 70% of micromobility programs in the US have taken measures to better serve disadvantaged groups, such as accepting cash payments and offering non-smartphone booking options.
Still, many barriers remain.Surveys indicate that people in rural areas and those with lower incomes encounter more obstacles when trying to use shared bikes.Cost, lack of familiarity, and limited availability are common problems, as illustrated in the figure.
Non-profit organizations are also playing an important role. For example, Shared Mobility Inc., a Buffalo-based NGO,provides free e-bikes for underserved communities and organizes training sessions to promote cycling culture and safety. Mobitwin in Belgium supports elderly people and those with limited mobility by providing affordable rides booked via telephone.Similarly, TIM Carsharing in Austria offers vehicles suitable for wheelchairs and provides child seats upon request.
In conclusion, understanding different needs and making services more adaptable are key steps toward fairness and sustainable urban transportation.

(2026·河北辛集中学模拟)Ecotourism has become an increasingly popular way for travelers to explore the world while minimizing their environmental impact. Unlike traditional tourism, which often focuses on luxury accommodations and crowded attractions, ecotourism emphasizes responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local communities.
The core principles of ecotourism include minimizing environmental damage, respecting local cultures, and supporting conservation efforts. Travelers engaging in ecotourism activities typically visit protected areas such as national parks, wildlife reserves, or remote communities. They participate in activities like bird watching, hiking, or learning about traditional crafts from local residents. These experiences not only allow travelers to connect with nature but also contribute to the preservation of fragile ecosystems.
One successful example of ecotourism is the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador. Faced with threats from over-tourism in the 20th century, the government implemented strict regulations to protect the unique wildlife and landscapes. Today, visitors to the Galapagos must follow designated routes, be accompanied by certified guides, and pay a conservation fee that funds environmental protection projects. This approach has helped maintain the islands' biodiversity while providing income for local communities through tourism.
Another example is Costa Rica, often regarded as a leader in ecotourism. The country has transformed its natural resources into a sustainable tourism industry, with over 25% of its land protected in national parks and reserves. Tourists can explore rainforests, observe sea turtles nesting, or stay in eco-lodges that use renewable energy and support local farmers. This model has not only preserved Costa Rica's natural beauty but also reduced poverty in rural areas by creating jobs in tourism.
However, ecotourism is not without challenges. Some destinations market themselves as “eco-friendly” without implementing meaningful conservation measures, a practice known as “greenwashing”. Travelers must be cautious and research companies before booking to ensure their tourism dollars support genuine environmental and community initiatives.
Additionally, even well-managed ecotourism can have negative impacts if visitor numbers exceed the carrying capacity of an area, leading to habitat disturbance or increased waste.
To practice responsible ecotourism, experts recommend choosing small-scale, locally owned accommodations, participating in guided tours led by local experts, and following the “leave no trace” principle by taking all trash with you and avoiding damage to plants and wildlife. By making informed choices, travelers can enjoy meaningful experiences while helping to protect the planet for future generations.

(2026·云南昆明一中模拟)Combine the non-profit fields with the tourism industry and you will get voluntourism—a multibillion-dollar industry linked with “doing good” while travelling. Essentially, voluntourists travel to another country to serve the local community. Though well-intentioned, these efforts are increasingly criticized.
Voluntourism has attracted many who would jump at the opportunity to profit from this enterprise. This has caused calls for tighter controls about exposing vulnerable (脆弱的) communities to unskilled labour and greedy operators make profits from foreigners. For example, some children in Cambodia are not orphans (孤儿) in the traditional sense but are removed from their families to fill places in “orphans' home” at risk of abuse and violence. Donations from the goodwill of foreigners are unfortunately turned into a profit for the owners.
Another major criticism of voluntourism is that many volunteers exercise too much authority or become enthusiastic when providing their services. They take part in service projects such as construction and painting but lack the skills to build houses and may ultimately cost the local community more effort and money to rebuild the unstable structures. Furthermore, many community service projects are not meant to be long-term and amateur workers simply do not have the ability to ease poverty or provide adequate support for vulnerable children. These are all complex issues shaping people's lives and cannot be solved by eager voluntourists in the short term.
Does this mean we should not help poor communities overseas? No. Voluntourism can be meaningful by making proper preparations and being monitored. A good way to get started is to contact local organizations and ask how to help. The best help might not be physical labour, but rather how we can support local efforts and voices in the long term.

(2026·江苏扬州中学模拟)When I first started traveling, my dad asked me what I was running away from. Another time, a friend told me to stop running away from my problems and to start living life. I'm not sure why.__1__ We are running away from responsibilities, challenges, and ultimately, maturity itself. People think we are all just Peter Pans refusing to be “adults”. And to all those people, I say: you are right.
__2__ I'm running away from office life, commutes (通勤), weekend duties, and the strict path society has laid out as “normal”. I'm running away because I want to experience every culture, see every mountain, eat different food, attend crazy festivals, meet new people, and enjoy different holidays around the world. I want to construct a life that makes me happy.
In our society, the accepted path is long and narrow: you go to college, get a job, get married, buy a house, have two or three children, raise them, and then retire. Only then, after you've put in your time, can you enjoy the fruits of your labor.__3__ And any deviation (偏差) is considered abnormal and strange.
For me, those who travel the world aren't running away from life.__4__ They are exploring the world and living on their own terms. They have a degree of freedom a lot of people will never experience. They get to be the captains of their own ships.
People may tell you they envy what you do, and say they wish they could travel like you. But they never do. Few people have the courage to take the risk. But life is what you make it out to be. Life is yours to create.__5__ So I'm not running away. I am just going after my own life. And I never plan to look back.
A.Traveling is something everyone should do.
B.Responsible people don't just travel forever.
C.On the contrary, they are running toward true living.
D.If you really want something, you have to go after it.
E.I'm running away from people's fixed idea of the “real” world.
F.But there is this perception that travelers must be escaping something.
G.Society boxes you in and restricts your movements to their expectations.
