In traditional Chinese performing arts, there are many classic roles, like Sheng, Dan, Jing, Mo and Chou. Most people usually pay little attention to Chou. However, it is a very important part in traditional Chinese operas. The reason is that it joins beauty and ugliness together perfectly. In the past, the Chou performer was the first one to get dressed and have his make-up done.
Usually there are two kinds of Chou on the stage, Wen Chou and Wu Chou. Wen Chou often has a white patch (小块) painted around his nose and takes the roles of fisherman, boatman, servant and so on. The other kind is Wu Chou. Wu Chou performers often wear tight clothing (紧身衣) and move quickly. They are good at martial arts (武术) and can jump several meters high. They usually express themselves in loud voices and play humorous roles, for example, kind thieves.
Chou performers often make people laugh by their spoken parts and body language, instead of singing skills. Whether they look ugly or beautiful, whether the roles they play are officials or thieves on the stage, Chou roles are all humorous characters in funny faces. They use the roles of Chou to bring out the good qualities in people. Maybe it is the charm (魅力) of traditional Chinese operas.

Nobody wants to lose, but we must accept that losing is a part of life. After all, we can’t win all the time. However, we can learn something valuable from every failure. This may help us succeed in the future. So we must know how to be a good loser.
We must not be afraid of losing. When we lose, just take it with a smile and look on the bright side of it. Failure can’t be avoided in our life. Edison failed over 1,000 times before he invented the light bulb: When he was asked how he felt, he said that he hadn’t failed so many times but had learned so many materials which didn’t work. We must know that history is full of examples of men and women who achieved success although they failed many times.
Losing is not very disgraceful. We must accept our failure and learn to take advantage of (利用) it. Remember that it can be helpful. Take action to walk out of it. When we lose, think about what we did and how we can improve. If someone else can help, we’ll be lucky enough. Maybe he or she has been through the same experience before. Many people enjoy helping others solve problems. This can save us a lot of time in learning how to avoid the same mistakes in the future.
We should face our failure when we lose. There is only one winner in every competition. Some win, while some lose. That is a usual way of life. If we offer our congratulations to the winners and share in their happiness, we won’t feel sorry for our failure.
In a word, being a good loser will help us to succeed in life. It might be painful at the beginning, but there are many advantages. Good losers set examples to us, and most importantly, they finally win.
41. What can we learn from every failure according to the passage?
A. A way of life. B. A valuable thing.
C. A right rule. D. An experience of success.
42. In the writer’s eyes, why did Edison achieve success?
A. He got help from others. B. He happened to make it.
C. He was afraid of losing. D. He saw the bright side of losing.
43. What does the underlined word “disgraceful” probably mean?
A. 丢脸的 B. 个人的 C. 危险的 D. 有趣的
44. What does the writer advise the losers to do in a competition?
A. Express the regrets. B. Forget the failure.
C. Share in the winners’ happiness. D. Join in another competition.
45. What is the best title for the text?
A. Ideas About How to Avoid Mistakes B. Experience in Dealing with Problems
C. Advice on How to Be a Good Loser D. Advantages of Both Success and Failure
X.阅读表达 (共5小题,每小题2分,满分10分)
阅读短文,并按要求完成小题。
What would you like for lunch? Maybe, a battery (电池)? Although it sounds unusual, this has already been realized by scientists as they develop electronic things you can eat.
Robofood (机器食物), led by Dario Floreano from a Swiss Institute, has created a new drone (无人机) with scientists from Wageningen University, the Netherlands. Half of the parts inside can be eaten! The program aims to make robots that can be eaten and foods that act like robots by mixing food science and robots in a new way.
The drone’s wings are made from rice cakes glued together with oil and chocolate. It can find missing people or animals in emergencies (紧急情况) and send food or medicine. Parts of the drone can be eaten because they meet food safety standards for emergencies set by the United Nations.
However, the main challenge is finding stronger edible (可食用的) materials for the drone’s wings to prepare for bad weather and high temperatures—of course, the chocolate may melt easily.
Robofood also developed an edible sensor (感应器) to help monitor (监视) stomach sickness. It’s eaten by the patient to check the conditions inside. It’s different from other sensors because it’s easy for your body to digest (消化), it won’t leave any remains inside the body.
The invention of Robofood also helps with environmental protection. There are batteries that you can fully eat. They are made from natural things like vitamin B2 and elements (元素) found in fruits. This helps the environment because you won’t have to throw them away like other batteries.

A. He got help from others. B. He happened to make it.

A. 丢脸的 B. 个人的 C. 危险的 D. 有趣的

C. Share in the winners’ happiness. D. Join in another competition.
