【答案】18. B 19. C 20. A
【解析】
【详解】W: Hello, everyone. Do you know Ben Nevis? It’s the highest mountain in Britain. Today I’ll tell you my experience of climbing it. It was in February. We camped at the bottom of the mountain. Although the weather forecast was perfect, with no winds or snow, there was still a general feeling of nervousness when we set out. The group soon climbed and my legs felt heavy. Being the weakest member of the group, I had to rest more frequently. The others sometimes stopped for a break to let me catch up. After seven hours of climbing, we reached the top. On a clear day, we saw the sea and the Isle of Skye right across it. On Ben Nevis, getting back to camp can be as much of a challenge as going up. When I finally came back to the tent, I couldn’t say I really enjoyed the experience, but at least I made it to the top.

When I was a boy there were no smart phones, computers were something you saw on STAR TREK (星际航行), and our television only got one channel clearly. Still, I was never bored. The fields, hills, and woodlands around my home were the perfect playgrounds whose adventures were only limited by my imagination. I can remember once hiking to a nearby lake and slowly walking around it. At the backside of it I was amazed to find an old dirt road that I had never seen before. I immediately set out to travel it. It was full of muddy tire tracks and deep woods bordered it on both sides, but exploring it still seemed like a fine adventure.
I walked on and on for what seemed like hours. I was sure my guardian angel was whispering (低语) in my ear to turn around and head back home, but I was stubborn (顽固) and even a bit stupid, so I walked on. The dirt road gave way to a stone one and then a paved one, yet there was still neither a car nor a house in sight. My legs were getting tired. I noticed that the sun was starting to go down and I grew scared. I didn’t want to end up trapped on this road in the dark of night, but I was worried it would be dark before I could make my way back to the lake again.
I continued to walk on with the something growing inside of me. My heart was pounding and my legs were aching. I was almost in tears when I turned one last curve (弯曲处) and saw something in the distance. It was a house that I knew. My heart leapt up! I jumped up and down and laughed out loud. I knew the way home! It was still over a mile away but my legs felt like feathers and I hurried back to my house. I walked in with a big smile on my face just in time for dinner. Then I ended my adventure with a good night’s sleep.
I often thought of that experience recently. Actually, in our life, all roads, no matter how they twist and turn (迂回曲折), can lead us home again. They can lead us to our homes here on Earth. They can lead us to our homes in our hearts. May you always walk your path with love. May you always help your fellow travelers along the way. And may your roads always lead you Home again.

A. Doubt. B. Hope. C. Fear. D. Courage.

Actually, in our life, all roads, no matter how they twist and turn (迂回曲折), can lead us home again.(最近我经常想起那次经历。 故文章最好的标题是“All Roads Lead Home(所有的道路都能引导你回家)”。故选D项。

Do you often order take-out food? Have you ever tried a “take-out PE class”? This new kind of service was popular during this summer vacation.
To have a “take-out PE class”, you order it on social media. The coach will then come with all the things needed for the exercise. The classes include simple fitness training and sports like basketball and tennis. One-on-one lessons usually cost 200 to 400 yuan, Guangming Daily reported.
“It’s so convenient,” said a woman surnamed Wang whose child is in the 3rd grade. She used to spend an hour taking her child to the gym. “Now, the coach comes to the open area of our neighborhood, and I can watch from the balcony (阳台),” she said.
“Take-out PE classes” are not only convenient, but also helpful. “Before, my child often fell down when jumping rope (跳绳). After three weeks of classes, he improved from 120 jumps a minute to 160,” Wang said. The coach makes a special plan for each child. This is more helpful than big classes.
But this new service also has problems. The Paper reported that most classes take place in neighborhood squares or parks. The ground is often too hard for running and jumping. In addition, many people walk by, and sometimes cars pass through. This can be dangerous.
Many parents who order the classes have children preparing for high school entrance exams. This is an “exam-first” way of thinking, which has changed the true meaning of exercise, noted Xinhua.
28. What can we learn about “take-out PE classes”?
A. They can be booked through social media.
B. Parents have to buy equipment before class.
C. They should follow schools’ management.
D. Guangming Daily sets prices for them.
29. Why did Wang mention her child’s change in rope-jumping?
A. To recommend the coach’s training plan.
B. To prove that the classes are helpful.
C. To encourage children to learn rope-jumping.
D. To explain why she is proud of her child.
30. What are the main problems of this “take-out” service?
A. Expensive fees and limited space.
B. Rough neighborhoods and high noise levels.
C. Hard ground and hidden dangers.
D. Strict coaches and fixed schedules.
31. What does Xinhua’s comments on parents imply?
A. Parents can give real meaning to exercise.
B. Parents do not trust school physical education.
C. Parents are not concerned about children’s fitness.
D. Parents may focus more on improving exam scores.
【答案】28. A 29. B 30. C 31. D

【30题详解】
细节理解题。根据第五段中的“The Paper reported that most classes take place in neighborhood squares or parks. The ground is often too hard for running and jumping. 【31题详解】
推理判断题。根据第六段中的“Many parents who order the classes have children preparing for high school entrance exams. This is an “exam-first” way of thinking, which has changed the true meaning of exercise, noted Xinhua. (新华社指出,许多订购这类课程的家长,其孩子都在备战中考。这种“应试为先”的思维方式,已经改变了运动的真正意义)”可知,新华社的评论暗示,家长们可能更关注提升孩子的考试成绩。故选D项。

The grammar school boy from Stratford-Upon-Avon has made headlines again after a groundbreaking study showed that Shakespeare does benefit children’s literacy and emotional development, but only if they can act him out.
The study found that a drama-based approach to teaching Shakespeare broadened children’s vocabulary, improved the quality of their writing, and enhanced their emotional understanding. “The way actors work makes a big difference to how children use language and how they think about themselves,” said Jacqui O’Hanlon, lead researcher of the study.
The random trial involved hundreds of Year 5 pupils (aged nine and ten) at 45 state primary schools. The children were divided into a target group and a control group. Both groups read a passage from Romeo and Juliet and were asked to write a letter as Romeo after being separated from Juliet. Before writing, the target group took part in a 30-minute drama-based activity, while the control group did not.
It was shown that pupils in the target group drew on a wider vocabulary, used more complicated or rarer words, and wrote at greater length. They also appeared more comfortable writing in role. While pupils in the control group imagined how they themselves would react to being separated from a loved one, children in the target group put themselves in Romeo’s shoes and expressed that character’s emotion.
O’Hanlon said she had been most surprised by the emotional understanding evident in the children’s writing, and that they showed deeper empathy and expressed emotions more vividly. “It is probably related to the drama-based process, where you are used to trying to think and feel as the character,” she added.
But could the results be reproduced with any old dramatists? O’Hanlon said more research would be needed but suggested that Shakespeare’s use of 20,000 words, compared with the everyday 2,000 words, gave a massive expansion of language into children’s lives, which was combined with children using their whole bodies to bring words to life.
32. What does the study encourage children to do?
A. Perform Shakespeare’s works. B. Write their own original plays.
C. Learn Shakespeare’s lines by heart. D. Watch professional acting on stage.
33. Which aspect of the study does paragraph 3 mainly talk about?
A. Its procedure. B. Its background.
C. Its purpose. D. Its significance.
34. What impressed O’Hanlon most about the target group’s writing?
A. Passage fluency. B. Emotional depth.
C. Word complexity. D. Plot imagination.
35. What can be learned from the text?
A. Practice makes perfect. B. Learning by doing works best.
C. Reading makes a full man. D. Words are the voice of the mind.
【答案】32. A 33. A 34. B 35. B

For children, being able to get online can be both good and bad. On the good side, digital technology can connect a child to information and to a much larger community. It helps them learn new things beyond textbooks and make more friends. But on the bad side, it can also bring great harm and stress. ____36____
Being online has many benefits. ____37____ We honestly believe that — especially for kids in places where possibilities are few or for children who are disabled — it is completely clear that the Internet is especially useful and is already offering children a better chance to grow.
____38____ For example, in Europe, 88% of children are online. Yet, in Africa, the number is only 40%. These offline children are missing out on the benefits offered by the Internet.

【37题详解】
上文“Being online has many benefits.(上网有很多好处)”是本段的主题句,指出互联网的积极作用,C选项“In fact, getting to the Internet can change a child’s life.(事实上,接触互联网可以改变一个孩子的生活)”承接上文,对“benefits”进行强化,指出其影响力之大足以改变人生;下文“We honestly believe that — especially for kids in places where possibilities are few or for children who are disabled — it is completely clear that the Internet is especially useful...(我们真诚地相信——特别是对于那些机会匮乏地区的孩子或残疾儿童来说——互联网尤其有用……)”具体举例说明了C选项中“change a child’s life”的体现,上下文语意连贯。

【39题详解】
上文“Nowadays, countless children across the world are spending a lot of time online.(如今,全球无数儿童花费大量时间上网)”描述了儿童上网时间长的现状,F选项“Yet little is known about digital technology’s influence on their well-being.(然而,人们对数字技术对其身心健康的影响知之甚少)”与上文构成转折关系,指出尽管上网时间长,但其影响尚不明确;下文“Worse still, few steps are taken to protect kids from dangers in the digital world.(更糟糕的是,很少采取措施保护儿童免受数字世界中的危险)”进一步说明保护措施的缺失,与F选项中的“little is known”形成逻辑递进,上下文语意连贯。
【40题详解】
上文“Nowadays, a child’s medical records may be stored in the cloud.(如今,儿童的医疗记录可能存储在云端)”举例说明了儿童个人信息被数字化存储的现象,G选项“As children grow, they may share their personal details, photos or videos online.(随着孩子的成长,他们可能会在网上分享个人详细信息、照片或视频)”承接上文,进一步指出除了被动存储的信息外,儿童自身也可能主动分享个人信息;下文“But making all this personal information public may put a child at risk.(但将这些个人信息公开可能会使儿童面临风险)”中的“all this personal information”指代上文提到的医疗记录以及G选项中提到的个人详细信息、照片和视频,上下文语意连贯。

It was a bright and sunny morning at Greenfield High School, and the annual sports day was in full swing. The atmosphere was electric, with students cheering, banners waving, and the smell of popcorn filling the air. But all eyes were on the final event of the day — the 400-meter race.
Among the participants was Mia, a quiet but determined girl from Class 10B. Mia wasn’t the fastest runner in school, nor was she the most athletic. In fact, she only joined the track team a few months ago after her best friend, Emma, convinced her to give it a try. “You’ve got heart, Mia,” Emma had said. “That’s all you need.”
As Mia stood at the starting line, her heart pounded. She glanced at her competitors — tall, confident, and experienced runners who had won countless medals. Mia tightened her shoelaces and took a deep breath. She reminded herself of the hours she had spent training, the early mornings, and the blisters (水疱) on her feet. She wasn’t here to win; she was here to prove to herself that she could finish the race.
The starting gun fired, and the runners shot off like arrows. Mia started strong but soon found herself lagging behind. By the halfway mark, she was in last place. Mia felt as if a heavy weight had settled on her shoulders. She couldn’t bring herself to look at the crowd. As cheers began to fade, doubt crept into her mind. “Maybe I should just stop, No one will notice.” she thought.

【答案】范文:
But then, she heard a familiar voice, “Go, Mia! You can do it!” It was Emma. Mia turned her head slightly and saw her best friend waving a big banner enthusiastically. The encouragement was like a spark that reignited the fire in her heart. She clenched her fists and summoned up all her remaining strength. Ignoring the pain in her legs and the shortness of breath, she quickened her pace. With every step, she felt more determined.
With just 50 meters to go, she could barely breathe. Her legs were heavy, but her mind was clear. She was so close to the finish line. The image of her family and friends waiting for her at the end spurred her on. Summoning every bit of strength left in her body, she dashed forward. As she crossed the finish line, the crowd erupted in cheers. Mia was tired but overjoyed. She had achieved what she set out to do, and that was more precious than any medal.
