Nancy Solari’s life is a powerful answer to that doubt — she turned blindness, loss, and hardship into a life of purpose, proving that “vision” has little to do with sight. At 10, Nancy watched The Oprah Winfrey Show and knew she wanted to be a host. She later studied Broadcasting and Psychology, building an early career in production and on-air reporting. But at 16, a diagnosis of Retinitis Pigmentosa — a degenerative eye disease — changed everything. Her vision faded slowly: first, reading teleprompters became a struggle, then faces blurred, until she was legally blind. She also faced domestic violence, family tensions, and painful personal loss, each challenge strengthening her resilience. One thing that sets Nancy apart is the way she connects with people in interviews. Instead of depending on prewritten notes, she prepares by listening closely and allowing guests’ stories of heartbreak and success to shape the conversation. “I don’t read notes,” she once shared. “The dialogue unfolds naturally, and guests often find it therapeutic.” Today, Nancy’s influence reaches far beyond broadcasting. She hosts The Living Full Out Show, a radio and TV platform reaching millions, and founded Nonprofit MVP, a TV competition that offers exposure and prizes to worthy nonprofits. As a coach and speaker, she encourages people to turn obstacles into opportunities. For Nancy, “Living Full Out” — her life’s mantra (信条) — means trusting in faith, asking for help when necessary, and refusing to let adversity define her story. Her journey teaches us a timeless lesson: Our greatest limitations are often the ones we accept. With purpose and courage, even the darkest challenges can become the foundation of our brightest achievements. 4. Why does the author mention The Oprah Winfrey Show in paragraph 2? A. To introduce the history of broadcasting. B. To show Nancy’s early interest in psychology. C. To identify the source of Nancy’s career dream. D. To compare Nancy’s hosting style with Oprah’s. 5. How does Nancy make her interviews special? A. By using detailed prewritten notes. B. By developing conversations naturally. C. By inviting famous guests to her show. D. By focusing on guests’ success stories. 6. Which of the following can best describe Nancy? A. Determined and influential. B. Humorous and relaxed. C. Quiet and dependent. D. Strict and doubtful. 7. What message does this text mainly convey? A. Media work needs special skills. B. Loss can prevent personal growth. C. Purpose and courage beat hardship. D. Success depends on public support. C 5. B 6. A 7. 根据第二段中的“At 10, Nancy watched The Oprah Winfrey Show and knew she wanted to be a host.(南希十岁时观看《奥普拉脱口秀》,从此立志成为一名主持人。)” 根据第三段中的“Instead of depending on prewritten notes, she prepares by listening closely and allowing guests’ stories of heartbreak and success to shape the conversation. (她不依赖提前写好的稿件,而是通过认真倾听,让嘉宾那些关于悲痛与成功的故事自然主导整场对话。)”以及“The dialogue unfolds naturally, and guests often find it therapeutic.(对话流畅自然地展开,嘉宾们常常觉得这样的交流具有治愈效果。)” 根据第二段中的“She also faced domestic violence, family tensions, and painful personal loss, each challenge strengthening her resilience.(她还面临家庭暴力、家庭矛盾以及痛苦的个人失去,每一次挑战都让她更加坚韧。)” 通读全文,尤其是尾段中的“Our greatest limitations are often the ones we accept. With purpose and courage, even the darkest challenges can become the foundation of our brightest achievements.(人最大的局限往往是自我设限,心怀目标与勇气,再大的困境也能成为成就的基石。)” C Have you ever questioned why someone is being unusually kind? You’re not alone. We often instinctively look for hidden motives behind generous acts, a reaction psychologists call “do-gooder derogation.” This means we may judge a seemingly selfless person more harshly (严厉地) than someone who is openly self-interested. A classic experiment, the “public goods game”, demonstrates this. Participants are given money and can choose to contribute to a shared pot, which grows and is later split equally. While contributing maximizes the group’s total gain, selfish individuals can contribute little and still benefit. Surprisingly, the most generous contributors in this game are often criticized as much as the selfish “free riders”. Psychologist Nichola Raihani suggests we are all playing a social “status game”. We are suspicious of those who might be using kindness to boost their reputation. This suspicion is at the heart of the “tainted altruism effect”. Imagine a friend, Andy, volunteers at a homeless shelter. If we discover his true motive is to date the shelter manager, we judge him more severely than if he took a coffee shop job for the same reason. The charitable context makes the hidden motive seem worse. Researcher Sebastian Hafenbradl explored this further. His studies confirmed that we judge people like Andy more harshly when they seek social rewards from a good deed. Interestingly, the judgment softens if the person is honest about their motive upfront, as this removes the “unearned social reward” of appearing purely altruistic Furthermore, people who do good merely to feel good about themselves are judged less harshly than those seeking to enhance their reputation. Both acts contain self-interest, but seeking public approval is seen as more dishonest. So, is any act truly selfless? Perhaps not. But if the result is more kindness in the world, maybe we can forgive a little mixed motivation. 8. What is the purpose of mentioning the “public goods game” in paragraph 2? A. To support a social theory with evidence. B. To explain the rules of a well-known game. C. To introduce a popular economic experiment D. To give an example of a psychological finding. 9. The “tainted altruism effect” is best shown in the case where ________. A. an athlete’s fair win brings public honor. B. a firm’s charity donation aims at a tax cut. C. a student’s hard work targets a scholarship. D. a volunteer’s sharing seeks to inspire others. 10. What did Sebastian Hafenbradi’s studies find? A. Seeking public approval shows the least honesty. B. Hiding selfish motives results in gentler criticism. C. Admitting selfish motives in advance reduces blame. D. Acting for self-satisfaction draws the strongest criticism. 11. What is the author’s attitude towards mixed-motive kindness? A. Tolerant. B. Indifferent. C. Confused. D. Critical. D 9. B 10. C 11. 根据第一段中的“We often instinctively look for hidden motives behind generous acts, a reaction psychologists call “do-gooder derogation.”(我们总会本能揣测慷慨举动背后的隐藏动机,这种心理反应被心理学家称作“行善者贬损效应”。)”以及第二段开头的“A classic experiment, the ‘public goods game’, demonstrates this.(一个经典的实验,‘公共物品游戏’,证明了这一点。)” 根据第三段中的“We are suspicious of those who might be using kindness to boost their reputation. This suspicion is at the heart of the “tainted altruism effect”.(人们会怀疑有人借善意抬高自身声望,这种质疑就是“沾染私利的利他效应”的核心。)”以及举例“Imagine a friend, Andy, volunteers at a homeless shelter. If we discover his true motive is to date the shelter manager(想象一下,朋友安迪在流浪者收容所做志愿者。如果我们发现他的真实动机是为了约会收容所经理)”可知,该效应指的是在慈善背景下,隐藏的个人私利会被看得更严重。B选项“一家公司的慈善捐款旨在减税”符合这一描述。 【10题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段中的“Interestingly, the judgment softens if the person is honest about their motive upfront, as this removes the ‘unearned social reward’ of appearing purely altruistic (利他主义的).(有趣的是,如果一个人一开始就诚实地交代了自己的动机,人们的判断就会变得温和,因为这消除了纯粹利他主义带来的‘不劳而获的社会回报’。)” 根据最后一段中的“But if the result is more kindness in the world, maybe we can forgive a little mixed motivation.(只要行为能给世界带来更多善意,我们或许可以谅解带有复杂动机的善意。)” D Artificial intelligence-powered medical treatment options are on the rise and have the potential to improve diagnostic accuracy, but a new study led by University of Arizona Health Sciences researchers found that about 52% of participants would choose a human doctor rather than AI for diagnosis and treatment. “While many patients appear resistant to the use of AI, accuracy, encouragement, and a listening experience may help increase acceptance,” Marvin Slepian, who led the research, said. “To ensure that the benefits of AI are secured in clinical practice, future research on the best methods of physician incorporation and patient decision making is required.” In this study, participants acted as mock patients and were asked whether they would prefer AI systems or human doctors under different circumstances. The research was conducted in two phases: first, structured interviews with real patients to explore their reactions to AI technologies; second, a blinded, randomized survey involving 2,472 participants from diverse ethnic, racial and socioeconomic backgrounds. Overall, participants were almost evenly divided, with more than 52% choosing human doctors and about 47% choosing AI. If participants were informed that their primary care physician felt AI was superior, the acceptance of AI increased. This signaled the significance of the human physician in guiding a patient’s decision. Disease severity did not affect participants’ trust in AI. Compared to white participants, black participants selected AI less often and Native Americans selected it more often. Older participants were less likely to choose AI, as were those who self-identified as politically conservative. These findings suggest that differing groups will need specific sensitivity and attention when being informed about the value and usefulness of AI to enhance diagnoses. “I really feel this study has national significance. It will guide many future studies and clinical transitional decisions even now,” Slepian said. “The onus will be on physicians and others in health care to ensure that information in AI systems is accurate, and to continue to maintain and enhance the accuracy of AI systems as they play an increasing role in the future of health care.” 12. What can we infer about AI treatment from Paragraph 2? A. Further clinical research is required. B. Its benefits remain to be confirmed. C. It can ensure a good listening patient experience. D. Physician involvement may increase patients’ acceptance. 13. What may affect participants’ preference for AI treatment according to the research? A. Their personal backgrounds. B. The access to the physicians. C. Their sensitivity to AI’s value. D. The questions they were asked. 14. What does the underlined word “onus” in the last paragraph probably mean? A. Attempt. B. Responsibility. C. Impression. D. Opportunity. 15. Which would be the best title for this passage? A. The Trust in AI: A Divide Among Patients B. Bridging the Gap: Human Doctors and AI C. An Important Study: The Future of AI Systems D. Improving Diagnostic Accuracy: The Role of AI 【答案】12. D 13. A 14. B 15. 根据第二段中““While many patients appear resistant to the use of AI, accuracy, encouragement, and a listening experience may help increase acceptance,” Marvin Slepian, who led the research, said. “To ensure that the benefits of AI are secured in clinical practice, future research on the best methods of physician incorporation and patient decision making is required.”(该研究负责人马文・斯莱皮安表示:“尽管很多患者对使用人工智能心存抵触,但精准的诊断、医生的鼓励以及耐心倾听的问诊体验,都有助于提高患者对人工智能的接受度。想要让人工智能的优势真正落地临床诊疗,我们还需进一步研究,探索医生参与配合、引导患者做出就医选择的最佳方式。”)”可知,研究指出医生参与介入的方式是后续研究重点,医生的参与、引导能够提高患者对AI诊疗的接纳程度。 【13题详解】 细节理解题。根据第五段中“Compared to white participants, black participants selected AI less often and Native Americans selected it more often. Older participants were less likely to choose AI, as were those who self-identified as politically conservative.(与白人参与者相比,黑人更少选择人工智能,美国原住民更愿意选择;年长人群、持保守政治立场者也更少选择人工智能。)” 根据最后一段中“The onus will be on physicians and others in health care to ensure that information in AI systems is accurate, and to continue to maintain and enhance the accuracy of AI systems as they play an increasing role in the future of health care.(onus将落在医生及其他医疗从业者身上,他们需确保人工智能系统中的信息准确无误,并在人工智能系统在医疗领域发挥日益重要作用的过程中,持续维护和提升其精准度。‌)”可知,医生及其他医疗从业者需确保人工智能系统中的信息准确无误,并在人工智能系统在医疗领域发挥日益重要作用的过程中,持续维护和提升其精准度,这是他们的责任,onus表示“责任”。 【15题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是根据第四段中“Overall, participants were almost evenly divided, with more than 52% choosing human doctors and about 47% choosing AI.(总体来看参与者意见近乎对半,52%选择人类医生,约47%选择人工智能。)” “The Trust in AI: A Divide Among Patients(患者对人工智能的信任:分歧显著)”符合题意。 When it comes to travelling abroad, many people choose a group tour to get the most out of their holiday. ____16____ Thankfully, travel expert Dilvin Yasa has shared tips for that. Budget accordingly. When planning your group tour, budgeting is an important factor, as these trips are rarely all-inclusive ____17____ Extra costs on a group tour could include meals, attractions and additional activities, so please factor potential costs in. ____18____ Yasa advised against skipping between different destinations, as strict time limits could prevent you from participating in back to back tours. “If the distances or time between destinations are not listed, turn to Google Maps to know how long you’re expected to be on the road.” Don’t arrive at the last minute. If you’re in a group tour, don’t leave home until the day when the tour sets off. “The worst is missing a connecting flight or experiencing delays. ____19____” Yasa said. “Remember to arrive the day before at the very latest and give yourself a little extra free time at the tail end.” Keep some cash on hand. While most of your tour should already be paid for before you start, you should always prepare some cash. Especially when travelling to more remote locations, or visiting smaller food stands or markets, you shouldn’t assume everywhere will take card payments. Yasa said, “____20____” A. Know your geography. B. Try to attend every trip. C. It’s a good choice to exchange goods. D. It’s better to have some cash on you at all times. E. You may miss the first or two of the tour you’ve paid for. F. Add up all the extra costs until you arrive at your real figure. G. However, there are always things to handle before booking your trip. G 17. F 18. A 19. E 20. 【16题详解】 前文“When it comes to travelling abroad, many people choose a group tour to get the most out of their holiday. (说到出国旅游,许多人选择跟团旅游来最大限度地利用他们的假期)”提到出国旅游时很多人选择跟团旅游,表明这样有充分利用假期的好处,后文“Thankfully, travel expert Dilvin Yasa has shared tips for that. (值得庆幸的是,旅游专家Dilvin Yasa分享了这方面的建议)”提到一名旅游专家分享了建议,空处应该与跟团旅游存在的问题相关,因此G项“However, there are always things to handle before booking your trip. (然而,在预订旅行之前,总有一些事情需要处理)”符合语境,指出预订旅行前也有事务需处理,和前文构成转折,引出后文的建议。故选G。 【17题详解】 前文“When planning your group tour, budgeting is an important factor, as these trips are rarely all-inclusive (包含一切的). (当计划你的团体旅游时,预算是一个重要因素,因为这些旅行很少是全包的)”指出计划团体旅游需考虑预算,后文“Extra costs on a group tour could include meals, attractions and additional activities, so please factor potential costs in. (团体旅游的额外费用可能包括餐饮、景点和额外的活动,所以请考虑潜在的费用)”说明额外费用具体包括哪些,空处应该是建议计算预计的额外费用,因此F项“Add up all the extra costs until you arrive at your real figure. (把所有额外费用加起来,直到你得出你的实际数字为止)”符合语境,承前启后,其中的extra costs在后文有同词复现。故选F。 【18题详解】 后文“Yasa advised against skipping between different destinations, as strict time limits could prevent you from participating in back to back tours. “If the distances or time between destinations are not listed, turn to Google Maps to know how long you’re expected to be on the road.” 故选A。 【19题详解】 前文“The worst is missing a connecting flight or experiencing delays. (最糟糕的情况是错过转机或遇到延误)”提到错过转机或遇到延误的糟糕情况,空处依旧是Yasa所说的话,应该与这些糟糕情况的后果有关,因此E项“You may miss the first or two of the tour you’ve paid for. (你可能会错过你已经付过钱的前一两个行程)”符合语境,表明这样会错过行程,承接前文。故选E。 【20题详解】 前文“Especially when travelling to more remote locations, or visiting smaller food stands or markets, you shouldn’t assume everywhere will take card payments. When Mysha made up her mind to get fitter at the end of 2019, choosing to take up running was a very easy decision. It’s absolutely a common problem among students nowadays, and I’d love to share my practical suggestions with you. First of all, you can set a “thinking priority rule” before turning to AI: when you get an essay topic, spend at least 20 minutes brainstorming on your own first. Second, use AI as a “polishing assistant” rather than a full-time writer: you can let AI help you revise the awkward expressions in your own writing, or provide you with new reference perspectives. Third, do a “AI-free writing training” once a week: finish a whole small essay within 30 minutes without any digital tools. Actually, AI is just a helper instead of a replacement for our own thinking. I believe you can find a proper balance between using AI and developing your own ability soon. Looking forward to your good news. 词汇积累 陷入:be trapped in→be caught in 困境:dilemma→predicament 帮助:help→assist 观点:perspectives→views 2. It’s absolutely a common problem among students nowadays, and I’d love to share my practical suggestions with you. Since it’s absolutely a common problem among students nowadays, I’d love to share my practical suggestions with you to help you out. 1】I’m sorry to hear that you’re trapped in the dilemma of over-relying on AI tools for your essay writing and feeling your independent thinking ability is declining.(运用that引导宾语从句) 【高分句型2】I believe you can find a proper balance between using AI and developing your own ability soon.(运用省略that的宾语从句) 第二节(满分25分) 47. One day, I was sitting at the breakfast table with my five-year-old son, Mateo. I was still recovering from an operation. “Mom, let’s play,” Mateo looked at me and said. Trying hard to ignore the pain in my stomach, I shook my head and replied, “Not today, sweetie.” These days, getting out of bed was a real struggle for me. I longed for strength and happiness, yet the future seemed so hopeless. All of a sudden, Mateo jumped up from where he was sitting on the kitchen floor. He shouted, “Bird!” and then ran towards our courtyard. I looked in the direction he was looking and, sure enough, there was a white dove (鸽子) landing in a rubber tree. It stayed there for a little while and then flew away. It was quite odd because I’d never seen a white dove in our neighborhood before. The next morning, I dragged myself into the kitchen. To my surprise, the dove was back, and this time it had a mate carrying some sticks. I pointed to the tree and said to Mateo, “Look, they’re going to build a nest.” Throughout the week, the doves flew in and out of the courtyard, building their nest on top of the rubber tree. Mateo was extremely excited. Every morning, he would rush into the kitchen and stand by the sliding glass door. He would talk to the birds as they worked. His joy was influential. Although feeling sad, I couldn’t help but look forward to the doves’ visits. However, things took a turn for the worse. The courtyard seemed like a safe place for a nest, but the rubber tree’s small branches were not stable at all. One night, a strong wind blew, and the doves’ nest was blown to the ground. I heard the small branches break. I checked the damage. Nothing good ever lasts. I wouldn’t blame the doves if they never came back. But they returned. They didn’t even look at the pile of sticks that used to be their nest. They started building all over again. Unfortunately, the wind destroyed their work again. But day after day, they kept starting again as if nothing had occurred. I realized that I should take some measures. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ “Look! The birds have returned!” Mateo shouted. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】示例: I realized that I should take some measures. Having given me comfort in my darkest times, the doves deserved my help in return. I searched around the house carefully, found some pieces of wood and made a solid wooden nest for them. With a lot of effort and care, I managed to climb up a ladder, attached the nest to the rubber tree and covered it with some leaves. It was a challenging job, but the doves’ determination gave me the confidence and strength. After finishing the work, Mateo and I stood by the sliding glass door, waiting and watching with patience. “Look! The birds have returned!” Mateo shouted. Hearing my son’s excited voice, clear as a bell, I looked up. The doves were circling near the nest happily and seemed to be satisfied with the new home. They started to bring small branches and soft feathers right away. Several weeks later, four babies came out of the eggs. The young birds developed day by day, and around a month later, they were fully grown and could fly. As watching them fly high and hearing them sing, I felt more positive and hopeful. The doves taught me to face difficulties bravely and keep moving forward. 词汇激活 行为类 ①安置巢穴:attach the nest to.../fix the nest on... ②完成:finish/complete/accomplish ③面对困难:face difficulties/confront challenges 情绪类 ①兴奋:excited/thrilled/exhilarated ②满意:be satisfied with/be content with 【点睛】[高分句型1] After finishing the work, Mateo and I stood by the sliding glass door, waiting and watching with patience.(句中使用动名词finishing作宾语,以及现在分词waiting和watching作状语) [高分句型2] As watching them fly high and hearing them sing, I felt more positive and hopeful.(句中使用状语从句的省略结构) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 高二 英语 (考试时间:120分钟 试卷满分:150分) 注意事项: 1. 1. C Have you ever questioned why someone is being unusually kind? C. Confused. D. Critical. D Artificial intelligence-powered medical treatment options are on the rise and have the potential to improve diagnostic accuracy, but a new study led by University of Arizona Health Sciences researchers found that about 52% of participants would choose a human doctor rather than AI for diagnosis and treatment.
