Olivia Dean was 16 when she first started writing songs, using music as a powerful tool for self-expression. She observed that the world is often filled with hatred (仇恨), so she decided to explore the theme of love in her second album, The Art of Loving. It contains 12 songs that celebrate love in every sense: romantic, between friends, within families and even towards strangers.
Since the album came out in September 2025, it has topped music charts and put the 27-year-old British singer in the spotlight. On Feb 28, Dean took home four honors at the 2026 BRIT Awards. She was also crowned Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards in early February.
Dean learned early in her career that the record industry had rigid (刻板的) expectations of the sort of music a woman of color should make. She followed her own path, drawing on her love of soul and jazz as well as alternative (另类的) rock. “Sometimes people listen to music with their eyeballs rather than their ears... I feel I could make anything I wanted to and you’d just have to get your head around it,” Dean responded.
This sense of independence shines through in every part of Dean’s music-making process. Rather than making a pop record in Los Angeles as so many musicians do, Dean set up her own studio in East London. There, she worked on The Art of Loving with producers she felt most comfortable with.
Dean’s relaxed, easy-going attitude toward music-making made her album sound warm and natural. “She writes like she’s sitting across from you and that pulls you into her immediately. Her melodies feel timeless but her perspective (视角) is so fresh,” US singer Ravyn Lenae said.
4. Why did Olivia Dean create the album The Art of Loving?
A. To win various music awards. B. To show different forms of love.
C. To fight against old music traditions. D. To express her sadness at an early age.
5. What can we infer about Olivia Dean from paragraph 3?
A. She refused to work with any music producers.
B. She stuck to her own musical style bravely.
C. She met no difficulties in her music career.
D. She mainly focused on soul and jazz music.
6. What does Ravyn Lenae think of Olivia Dean’s songs?
A. Appealing and uniquely creative. B. Old-fashioned and difficult to accept.
C. Popular but lacking in new ideas. D. Casual and with traditional features.
7. What is the best title for the text?
A. The Development of Modern Pop Music B. Ways to Become a Famous Singer
C. Olivia Dean: An Independent Rising Singer D. The Introduction of Popular Music Albums
B 5. B 6. A 7. C

On the giant screen, two scores flashed: 8-11, 4-11. Liang Jingkun was already two games down against Tomokazu Harimoto. Japan’s fans erupted in cheers. China’s bench (替补席) fell silent. Head coach Wang Hao tightened his fists (拳头).
However, Liang refused to give up. He won the third game 11-9, and then edged the fourth 13-11. In the deciding game, Liang fell behind 3-8. Many thought it was over, but Liang kept attacking. He scored eight straight points and completed a stunning 11-8 comeback victory.
After the match, sweat still pouring down his face, Liang smiled and told China Central Television, “I thank myself for never giving up. That’s why a rebirth was possible.”
Liang’s dramatic comeback style has earned him a famous nickname, “the god who controls table tennis TV ratings”. One fan joked online, “Watching Liang play tortures not only the coaches but also his opponents (对手).”
Liang is known for being a slow starter. Against fast attacking players, he often falls behind early. As the match goes on, Liang usually becomes stronger. His shots gain more spin (旋转) and power. He likes to slow the game down and pull opponents into long rallies (连续对打), where he feels most comfortable. With strong defense and powerful attacks, he often wears his opponents down and turns the match around. He always gives them hope first, and then takes it away completely. Many fans enjoy his style.
At 29 years old, Liang is no longer considered young in table tennis. However, the incredible comeback victories in London will surely become defining moments in his career.
8. What happened after Liang Jingkun was two games down?
A. He gave up gradually. B. China’s bench erupted in cheers.
C. His coach decided to replace him. D. He kept fighting and won the game.
9. What does the underlined word “tortures” in paragraph 4 probably mean?
A. Makes anxious. B. Makes comfortable. C. Makes frightened. D. Makes relaxed.

A. He dislikes slow games. B. He usually starts very fast.
C. He’s bad at using defense skills. D. He offers hope and then takes it back.
11. What can we learn from Liang Jingkun?
A. We should keep trying and never give up. B. We should start fast in everything we do.
C. We shouldn’t make fun of our opponents. D. We should play table tennis to keep healthy.
D 9. A 10. D 11. A

根据文章第二段内容“However, Liang refused to give up. He won the third game 11-9, and then edged the fourth 13-11. In the deciding game, Liang fell behind 3-8. Many thought it was over, but Liang kept attacking. He scored eight straight points and completed a stunning 11-8 comeback victory.(然而,梁拒绝放弃。他以11比9赢下第三局,随后又以13比11险胜第四局。在决胜局中,梁一度以3比8落后,许多人认为比赛已无悬念,但他仍坚持进攻,连得八分,最终以11比8实现惊人的逆转胜利。)”可知,梁靖崑落后两局后没有放弃,依旧坚持战斗,最终赢下了比赛。
【9题详解】
词义猜测题。根据前文内容“Liang’s dramatic comeback style has earned him a famous nickname, ‘the god who controls table tennis TV ratings’.(梁靖崑极具戏剧性的逆转打法,让他收获了一个响亮外号 ——“乒坛收视之神”。)”以及后文对他的比赛风格的描述“He likes to slow the game down and pull opponents into long rallies(连续对打), where he feels most comfortable. With strong defense and powerful attacks, he often wears his opponents down and turns the match around. He always gives them hope first, and then takes it away completely.(他喜欢放慢节奏,将对手拖入漫长的拉锯战中,这正是他感到最自在的时候。凭借出色的防守和强大的进攻能力,他常常耗尽对手的体力,从而扭转比赛局势。他总是先给予对手希望,然后彻底夺走这份希望。)”可知,梁靖崑擅长戏剧性逆转、赛况起伏极大的打球风格,这种充满反转和拉扯的比赛会让教练和对手都感到焦虑紧张。因此推知“tortures”的含义为“使人焦虑”,只有A选项符合。
【10题详解】

The University of Cincinnati (UC) is working with the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation to use digital-twin technology to make workplaces safer. UC professors Manish Kumar and Sam Anand are developing tools to prevent worker injuries from accidents, repetitive stress and other common causes.
At UC’s Digital Futures, they showed how the idea works: cameras create a live virtual representation of a worker in their actual workspace and follow workers’ movements in real time. The system is advanced enough to send real-time warnings to a worker’s smartwatch, warning them of nearest dangers, or even reminders that they might be stressing certain parts of their bodies through repetitive movements. It also collects data on the worker’s daily movements and activities.
In a lab, a UC student performed tasks such as repeatedly reaching up or down for things in front of him. Smart TVs showed a digital twin matching his movements exactly. When a wheeled box approached him from behind, his smartwatch alarmed.
Kumar said AI and deep networks have helped make this possible, using tools like MotionGPT. UC professor Kelly Cohen and his students have been ensuring the AI used in the system works as expected and can be trusted by its users.
Anand said the system’s data can tell workers about the dangers of repetitive motion injuries, which account for about one-third of workplace injuries nationwide. The system can make a daily check that scores workers’ chance of getting hurt, based on how they stand and move.
Ohio recorded about 76,800 nonfatal (不致命的) workplace injuries in 2023. Over half were serious, involving days away from work and changing jobs. After proving that their real-time digital twin system works effectively, researchers are developing practical applications.
“We’re just starting to explore possible applications. We want to be the guardian of the good,” Kumar said.
12. What is the main purpose of UC’s digital-twin system?
A. To train camera operators. B. To develop smartwatch apps.
C. To collect workers’ health data. D. To improve workplace safety.
13. What is paragraph 2 mainly about?
A. The functions of the system. B. The reasons for workers’ injuries.
C. The background of the technology. D. The importance of real-time warnings.
14. What can be learned about the AI in the system?
A. It is widely used in various industries for safety.
B. It is mainly developed by workers in workplaces.
C. It plays a key role in supporting the system’s work.
D. It needs improvement to make the system dependable.
15. Which of the following can best describe the research team?
A. Active and easy-going. B. Careful but narrow-minded.
C. Determined but less-organized. D. Responsible and forward-looking.
D 13. A 14. C 15. D

用介词from。

Max couldn’t sleep. He kept hearing Bobby’s words, “I’m gonna get you after school tomorrow.” All evening, Max had wanted to tell his parents that he was being bullied (霸凌) and ask for help. But he didn’t want to worry them and felt like he should deal with his own problems.
Max was a small kid in glasses who cared about his studies. He did well in all subjects and was liked by teachers. Unfortunately, kids like Bobby made school hard. Bobby did not care much for his studies. He was big and loud and took joy in making other people’s lives difficult.
At school the next day, Max didn’t put his hand up to answer questions in history class like he often did, and he couldn’t focus in science. But the worst lesson was math, when he noticed Bobby staring at him threateningly (威胁地). All of this was noticed by Ben, another boy in the class. Ben and Max weren’t friends. They’d rarely exchanged words, but Ben was a good kid, and he didn’t like seeing people getting picked on. He was confident and funny. Also, his height and big build meant that very few people gave him trouble.
At break time, Max kept to himself. He bought himself a carton (纸盒) of milk and began drinking it. Suddenly, Bobby bumped (撞) into him, knocking his milk to the ground. “Watch where you’re going, shorty,” shouted Bobby. He stepped on Max’s milk carton. “After school, you’re done,” whispered (小声说) Bobby in Max’s ear and then walked away.
Max stood, looking at the spilled milk on the ground, close to tears. When he bent down to tidy up the mess, he heard someone ask, “Are you OK?”

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Max looked up and saw Ben standing in front of him. Ben didn’t leave; instead, he picked up the carton and threw it into the bin. He patted Max’s shoulder gently and told him he had noticed Bobby’s bad behavior all day. He comforted the nervous boy and said no one should suffer from bullying alone. Max was surprised by Ben’s kindness and finally told him his worry about being attacked after school. Sensing Max’s fear, Ben promised to stay with him after school and help him solve the problem. His warm words gave Max great courage.
After school, Max walked out of the classroom with Ben by his side. As expected, Bobby was waiting at the school gate. Seeing Max, he walked forward angrily. But before he could say anything, Ben stepped forward firmly. He told Bobby calmly but firmly that bullying was wrong and he would report it to the teacher if Bobby dared to do anything. Knowing Ben was not easy to mess with, Bobby finally gave up and left unwillingly. Max thanked Ben sincerely. From that day on, they became good friends, and Max no longer feared going to school.

C. We shouldn’t make fun of our opponents. D. We should play table tennis to keep healthy.

(1)续写词数应为150个左右;
