Morning, everyone. Today I’m going to talk about my parents. My mom is three years older than my dad, and my dad is 47. They are diligently working all day and night. My mom is five feet four, I think. In real life, she is very sweet, very shy, and very quiet. Everybody tells her how young she looks and how my sister resembles her. My father is completely different. He is a very big man, and he is very loud, very funny, and very talkative. He makes friends no matter where he goes. For example, sometimes he goes to Florida and makes all sorts of good friends. He is easygoing and kind. Though my parents are completely different, they love each other very much. I love my parents very much.

Excitement filled the air as we were aboard the ship to Antarctica, enjoying the warmth of the room. Then one morning we saw a sign announcing an open invitation to all passengers: Polar Plunge(极地跳水) at 12:30.
My husband and I stared at the sign. His face brightened, but I had a wave of panic in my stomach. Hundreds of reasons for not doing it filled my mind. “No way,” I said. “For starters, we’re much too old. The water’s freezing cold. Heights terrify me. I’m not much of a swimmer. Not only that,” I complained, “but it means I’d have to wear a swimsuit publicly with so many people looking at my fat body.” He gave me a quick hug along with his appealing smile. “We’ll never have another chance,” he insisted. My determination gradually weakened. My heart “No way” gave way to a weak “Maybe”. Finally I forced myself to say, “Okay. Let’s go for it.”
Dressed in our swimsuits and shaking with anxiety, we gathered with the other participants in the lower part of the ship. I eyed the group. A daring teen tried to be first in line. A twenty-something woman in a bikini also stepped forward. The remaining few ranged in age from enthusiastic young people to middle-aged adults joking and laughing. We two eighty-year-olds were visibly the ancient, senior citizens of the group.
Our turn came all too soon. We moved onto the jump-off point, legs shaking, but it was too late to turn back. We held our hands together, took a deep breath, and took the Polar Plunge into the icy ocean. After what seemed a century, we rose to the surface and swam to the safety platform. Shaking and laughing, I shouted excitedly, “I can’t believe I did that.” That afternoon, I gained my fame and became the focus of the day.
In my memory bank, I’ve stored that fame, and it will last the rest of my life. However, my one-time, completely wild risk is enough. Ah, but the brief moment of fame was so wonderful.

26. What did people think of the author after jumping?
A. She was worth admiring.
B. She performed better than others.
C. Her jump was far from wonderful.
D. Her performance was rather professional.

A. Once bitten, twice shy.

The number of pandas, which once were an endangered species, has grown continuously in recent years, partly thanks to the introduction of the special pandas born in captivity(圈养) but trained from birth to return to nature.
The first stage of the training begins in the first year of life in an area of around 2,000 square meters. This allows experts to monitor them more easily and minimize the damage they may suffer. During this period, the baby pandas learn to find water sources, something necessary for their survival. In the second stage, once they turn one year old, their diet changes and in addition to mother’s milk they need bamboo. They will learn to find bamboo, how to stay away from their natural enemies and how to seek shelter to avoid danger. In this second stage, the area in which they move enlarges to over 20 thousand square meters, a surface similar to that of the habitat in which they find themselves when they live in the wild.
After those training and final physical examinations, captive pandas are well-prepared to explore the wild world. When they go back to the wild, they wear collars (颈圈) to provide a helpful tracking sign to inform the wildlife protection experts. Mu Shijie is one of these experts who is backed by a giant panda monitoring “dream team”, whose daily duty is to monitor the wild giant pandas in the nature reserve as well as the captive giant pandas after being set free.
The World Wide Fund for Nature said in a statement that there was a “promising trend” in the wild population of pandas and that rewilding could help deal with the risk of inbreeding “After decades of work, it is clear that the future of pandas and their forest home depends on more effective measures, especially with the increasing effect of climate change.” a spokesperson said.
28. What does paragraph 2 mainly talk about?
A. The benefits of training.
B. The process of training.
C. The challenges of training.
D. The importance of training.
29. Why do the captive pandas wear collars when they go back to the wild?
A. To aid experts in following the pandas’ trace.
B. To help pandas adapt to the wild world easily.
C. To enable pandas to recognize each other quickly.
D. To protect pandas from hunters and natural enemies.
30. What does the underlined word “backed” in paragraph 3 probably mean?
A. Observed. B. Supported.
C. Affected. D. Promoted.
31. What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A. Greater efforts should be made to protect pandas.
B. The population of the captive giant pandas is mounting.
C. The risk of inbreeding can be totally avoided by rewilding.
D. A World Wide Fund for Nature will be established to preserve pandas.
B 29. A 30. B 31. A
根据第二段关键句“The first stage of the training begins in the first year of life in an area of around 2,000 square meters. (训练的第一阶段从生命的第一年开始,占地约2000平方米。)”和“In the second stage, once they turn one year old, their diet changes and in addition to mother’s milk they need bamboo. (在第二阶段,一旦它们满一岁,它们的饮食就会改变,除了母乳,它们还需要竹子。)”可知,第二段主要讲了训练过程,“The first stage of the training”和“In the second stage”是明显的过程标志词,由此可知,第二段主要讲了训练过程。故选B项。
根据第三段关键句“When they go back to the wild, they wear collars (颈圈) to provide a helpful tracking sign to inform the wildlife protection experts. (当它们回到野外时,它们会戴上项圈,作为一个有用的追踪标志,通知野生动物保护专家。)”可知,为了帮助野生动物保护专家追踪熊猫,当它们回到野外时,它们会戴上项圈,由此可知,圈养的大熊猫回到野外时戴上项圈是为了协助专家追踪大熊猫的踪迹。故选A项。
根据最后一段关键句““After decades of work, it is clear that the future of pandas and their forest home depends on more effective measures, especially with the increasing effect of climate change.” a spokesperson said. (一位发言人说:“经过几十年的努力,很明显,大熊猫及其森林家园的未来取决于更有效的措施,尤其是在气候变化影响日益严重的情况下。”)”可知,在气候变化影响日益严重的情况下,需要更有效的措施来保护大熊猫及其森林家园,由此可知,从最后一段我们能推断出应该加大力度保护大熊猫。故选A项。

For students who spend long hours reading and studying, good lighting is essential for protecting eyesight and maintaining focus. The Ongo lamp, a smart desk light, aims to meet this need.
Unlike traditional bulbs(电灯泡) that shine with a single, fixed level of brightness, the Ongo uses advanced LED technology to create a light source that is both powerful and gentle. The secret lies in its “eye-care” system. The lamp is equipped with a built-in sensor that can detect the surrounding light in your room. If the room is dark, the lamp gradually increases its brightness to avoid a sudden, harsh glare. If the room is bright with sunlight, it adjusts to a softer glow. This automatic adjustment helps reduce eye strain, which is a common problem for people who read or work on computers for long periods.
What makes the Ongo truly special is its focus on ergonomics(人体工学). The lamp has a flexible, double-arm design that allows users to adjust the height and angle precisely. Whether you need direct light for detailed homework or a wider area of light for reading a large textbook, the lamp can be shaped to fit your needs. Furthermore, the Ongo features several color temperature settings. You can switch between a warm light for relaxation and a cool, white light that acts like natural daylight to help you stay awake and focused.
In terms of sustainability, the Ongo is built to last. Its LED bulbs use significantly less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs and are rated to last for up to 50,000 hours. This means that besides being a guardian for your eyes, the Ongo is also a friend to the environment and your electricity bill.
With its combination of smart technology, flexible design, and energy efficiency, the Ongo lamp is more than just a light — it’s a study companion for the modern student.
32. What does the built-in sensor in the Ongo lamp do?
A. It records reading time. B. It detects eye movement.
C. It changes the bulb color. D. It adjusts brightness automatically.
33. What is the function of the Ongo lamp’s ergonomic design?
A. To offer several color temperatures.
B. To consume significantly less energy.
C. To gradually increase its brightness.
D. To allow adjustment of height and angle.
34. How is the passage organized?
A. By presenting a problem and its solution.
B. By stating a cause and its effects.
C. By introducing a subject and detailing its features.
D. By comparing two different things.
35. What is the author’s attitude towards the Ongo lamp?
A. Indifferent. B. Unclear. C. Objective. D. Supportive.
D 33. D 34. C 35. D

For years, when it came to media and kids, the suggestion of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) was pretty straightforward: Limit(限制) the TV to two hours a day, and don’t let children under the age of two watch it. 36 Because our children are growing up in a digital age, parenting needs to reflect that. The AAP recognizes this and has issued some tips for parents in the digital age.
• Treat media like any other part of your child’s life. Clearly, you have to know what your children do at school and with friends. 37 Since you have rules about behavior at school and with friends, you should set rules for them about online life, too.
• Set limits and encourage playtime. The AAP suggests setting “reasonable limits” on media use, based on your child’s needs and the situation. 38 They need to use their imagination, move their bodies, and interact with the real world around them,
• 39 Real-life conversations are important for developing strong relationships and good mental health. While media can help, such as video calls with distant family, nothing beats real-life interactions. Everyone should make time to talk to each other regularly.
• Be a good role model. If you are on your phone all the time, or turn on the TV as soon as you sit down on the sofa, what kind of message are you sending? Instead, set an example to your kids by doing something meaningful like reading. 40
A. But these days, even that has gotten hard.
B. Raise your voice when talking to your child.
C. You should know what they do online as well.
D. Know the value of face-to-face communication.
E. This will encourage active and healthy behaviors.
F. You’d better think carefully before jumping in with both feet.
G. It’s also important that children get plenty of time away from media.
A 37. C 38. G 39. D 40. E
上文“For years, when it came to media and kids, the suggestion of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) was pretty straightforward: Limit(限制) the TV to two hours a day, and don’t let children under the age of two watch it. (多年来,关于媒体与孩子的关系,美国儿科学会(AAP)的建议相当明确:每天看电视时间限制在两小时,且不让两岁以下儿童看电视)”介绍了AAP以往的明确建议;下文“Because our children are growing up in a digital age, parenting needs to reflect that. (因为我们的孩子成长在数字时代,育儿方式需要体现这一点)”说明当下数字时代背景使原有建议不再适用。需要一句衔接“原有建议”与“时代变化”,且体现“原有建议难以执行”的过渡句。选项A“但如今,即便是这一点也变得困难了。”既回应了上文的“明确建议”,又转折引出下文“数字时代”的新背景,说明原有简单的看电视限制已无法适应当下的媒体环境。故选A。
37. 上文“Clearly, you have to know what your children do at school and with friends. (显然,你必须知道孩子在学校和与朋友相处时做些什么)”强调家长需了解孩子线下的生活;下文“Since you have rules about behavior at school and with friends, you should set rules for them about online life, too. (既然你对孩子在学校和与朋友相处时的行为有规定,你也应该为他们的线上生活制定规则)”则转向“线上生活”的规则制定。需要一句衔接“线下了解”与“线上规则”,且体现“了解线上生活”的句子。选项C“你也应该知道他们在网上做些什么。”承接上文“了解线下生活”,直接点明家长需关注孩子的线上活动,为下文“制定线上规则”做了铺垫,让“线下规则”与“线上规则”的并列逻辑更顺畅。故选C。
38. 上文“The AAP suggests setting “reasonable limits” on media use, based on your child’s needs and the situation. (AAP建议根据孩子的需求和具体情况,对媒体使用设定“合理限制”)”提出“限制媒体使用”的建议;下文“They need to use their imagination, move their bodies, and interact with the real world around them. (他们需要发挥想象力、活动身体,并与周围的现实世界互动)”说明孩子除了媒体使用外的其他重要需求。需要一句衔接“限制媒体”与“其他需求”,且强调“远离媒体时间”的句子。选项G“孩子有足够的时间远离媒体也很重要。”既呼应了上文“限制媒体使用”的核心,又引出下文“发挥想象力、互动现实世界”等远离媒体后的有益活动,让建议更完整。故选G。
39. 下文“Real-life conversations are important for developing strong relationships and good mental health. While media can help, such as video calls with distant family, nothing beats real-life interactions.
40. 上文“Be a good role model. If you are on your phone all the time, or turn on the TV as soon as you sit down on the sofa, what kind of message are you sending? Instead, set an example to your kids by doing something meaningful like reading.

27. What message does the author convey through her experience?

D
B. Unclear. C. Objective. D. Supportive.

D
B. Unclear. C. Objective. D. Supportive.

Joel lived in a small, faraway town. He was an ambitious rapper(说唱歌手) who spent countless hours in his bedroom writing lyrics(歌词) and perfecting his flow. But he never performed on stage. His dream was to make it big in the music industry and share his passion for rap with the world. He hoped that one day his dream would become a reality. Little did he know this dream was about to come true in the most unexpected way.
One sunny afternoon, Joel was walking through his neighborhood when he heard booming music coming from a nearby park. Interested, he followed the sound and discovered a crowd of people gathered around a stage. To his surprise, the famous rapper Latto was in town and performing her show for the community. Joel had always been Latto’s faithful fan. He’d like to become a rapper like her. Pushing his way through the crowd, Joel came to the front of the stage.
Joel’s heart raced with excitement as he watched Latto appeal to the audience with her charming lyrics and undeniable talent. He waved his arms and cheered loudly together with all the people present. All of a sudden, a fearless idea suddenly occurred to him. Inspired by her performance, Joel decided to seize the opportunity and show his skills before his idol(偶像). Joel went up to the event organizer and explained his passion for rap, hoping to be given a chance to perform.
Impressed by Joel’s enthusiasm and determination, the event organizer agreed to let him perform a short set after Latto finished her performance. Joel was overjoyed and spent the remaining time practicing, making sure he was ready to deliver an unforgettable performance. He prayed (祈祷) at the bottom of his heart that he would succeed like Latto. At last, Latto ended her show.

Our school successfully held its inaugural Campus Culture Festival from December 15th to 17th, celebrating the splendor of traditional Chinese culture. The event featured calligraphy demonstrations, folk dance performances, and Hanfu fashion shows, while interactive workshops allowed students to experience paper-cutting and Chinese knot-making. Additionally, a tea ceremony exhibition showcased China’s profound tea culture.
Both teachers and students were impressed by the festival. As one participant remarked, “What amazed me most was how these ancient arts could feel so alive in modern times.” Undoubtedly, the event enriched our cultural knowledge and strengthened our pride in being inheritors of such a vibrant heritage.
Yours,
Li Hua

Joel stepped onto the stage, his heart beating wildly. Filled with excitement, he began rapping, pouring his soul into every lyric. The audience was captivated and soon responded with thunderous applause, boosting his confidence. Backstage, Latto was drawn by the noise and came to watch. After Joel finished, she approached him with admiration, praised his talent, and offered invaluable advice based on her own experiences. They talked at length, forming a friendship rooted in their shared passion for music. Eventually, Joel’s skills gained recognition. Through hard work, perseverance, and that unexpected encounter, he transformed from a small-town dreamer into a respected rapper — proof that when talent meets opportunity, dreams truly can come true.
