Good morning, everyone!
Today, I'd like to talk about my favourite sports event. Actually, when I used the word "event", I meant two events: the 2008 Summer Olympics and the 2022 Winter Olympics. They were held in Beijing—the first city ever to host both the Summer and the Winter Olympics.
• Why is it important to point out the word "first"? What feeling does this word show?
It shows a great sense of national pride. Being the "first" means Beijing and China achieved something historic that no other place in the world has ever done before.
• What kind of city is a good choice to host the Olympic Games?
peaceful, open, hard-working, welcoming ...

Deep Meaning & Theme
Events like the Olympic Games build bridges between countries and form friendships between people. The purpose of the Olympics is to build relationships between people, to celebrate the Olympic spirit, and to bring people together for peace and harmony. This is shown in both the motto of the 2008 Olympics, "One World, One Dream", and the motto of the 2022 Olympics, "Together for a Shared Future". These mottos touch my heart deeply, and I'm sure they touch yours.
Groups works
Step 3
ge
Discuss in groups.
These mottos show that China is not just a host, but a builder of peace. The Olympics remind us that despite our differences, we are ONE human family. Through sports, we learn to compete fairly, help each other, and share the same future. This is what "More than a Game" truly means!
“One World, One Dream” was for 2008. “Together for a Shared Future” is for 2022. How do these mottos answer the question: "How does sport bring us together?"

You can do it s follow:

ge
Retell the speech in pairs according to the mind map.
"Good morning! Today I'd like to introduce the Beijing Olympics.
Beijing is the first city to host both the Summer and Winter Olympics.
The 2008 Summer Olympics showed us amazing achievements. For example, Usain Bolt set a new world record in the 100-meter race, and Du Li won her second Olympic gold medal. Its motto was 'One World, One Dream'.
The 2022 Winter Olympics was also exciting. Nearly 2,900 athletes competed in 109 events across seven winter sports. I loved the mascot Bing Dwen Dwen. Its motto was 'Together for a Shared Future'.
In fact, hosting these two Games brought both challenges and opportunities to Beijing. Many volunteers and citizens helped out. The games built bridges between countries and brought people together for peace. The Beijing Olympics really show that sports are 'More than a Game'!"
