它融合了journal(日志)、observation(观察)和scientific record(科学记录)三种语篇特点。

Getting to Know the Plants Around Us
Last weekend, the Student Union organized a wonderful activity called “Getting to Know the Plants Around Us.” We gathered on campus on Saturday morning and, guided by a biology teacher, walked through the school garden and nearby park. We learned to identify over 20 common species, from evergreen trees to wildflowers, and recorded their names, leaf shapes, and growing habits.
This activity not only enriched my knowledge of nature but also deepened my appreciation for the green world around us. It made me more aware of the importance of protecting our environment. I truly enjoyed this hands-on learning experience.

My Observation of the Sunflower
June 1: I sowed a sunflower seed in a small pot a few days ago. A tender sprout has broken through the soil, showing two tiny oval leaves.
July 6: The stem has grown strong and tall, over 20 cm high, with broad rough leaves. A small green bud has appeared at the top, swelling day by day.
July 26: The bud has burst into a brilliant golden flower! Its large yellow petals surround a dark brown centre. It turns its face to follow the sun from dawn to dusk.
I am amazed by its vitality and perseverance. This observation taught me that even a small seed can produce such magnificent beauty with time and sunlight.

Good morning, class. Last Sunday, I spent an hour observing ants in my garden. I noticed a line of ants carrying breadcrumbs back to their nest. When a large crumb blocked the entrance, several ants worked together to break it into smaller pieces. They kept trying even when I gently moved a stone in their path. They quickly found a new route and continued their work.
This experience taught me the power of cooperation and perseverance. No matter how small we are, we can achieve great things if we work as a team. Nature is indeed our best teacher.

The Best Way to Learn Nature’s Secrets
In my view, observing in person is the best way to understand nature’s mysteries. Reading books and watching documentaries offer valuable knowledge, but they cannot replace direct experience.
When you observe a flower opening or a bird building its nest, you engage all your senses—you see the colours, hear the sounds, and feel the textures. This hands-on contact deepens your curiosity and leaves a lasting impression. Moreover, personal observation encourages you to ask questions and discover details that books might miss.
Nature speaks most clearly to those who take the time to look closely. So go outside and explore—the real classroom is right there.
