(2026年泰安市初中学业水平考试英语试题)A golden light covered the cornfields as the sun began to set. I wanted to rest, too. After saying goodbye to my friends, I walked back to the camp. Suddenly, I heard a voice behind me. “Photo, photo, photo,” said a little boy. I was tired and didn’t want to take more pictures, so I refused. But he kept following me, asking for a photo.
Finally, I had an idea. I asked the boy to stand in the cornfield and pose (摆好姿势). But when I prepared to take the picture, he became shy and scared. No matter what I said, I couldn’t get the shot. Upset, I stopped trying. The boy looked embarrassed and alone. To cheer him up, I clapped (鼓掌) and said, “That was great! You were great!” His family gathered around, clapping and cheering. The boy smiled, and I took some pictures of that happy moment.
The photo was better than I imagined because it came from the heart. I learned that when we focus on the present moment, we create something special. This experience taught me about seeing others, not just my own wants. The boy just wanted to be noticed. I saw the joy and simplicity (简单) in his life. Photography helps me connect with others and the world. It reminds me of what’s truly important.

(2026年江西省中考英语试题)About ten years ago, I went on a trip to Luxor to see the Valley of the Kings, one of the most important tourist sites (景点) in Egypt. I stayed in the town on one side of the Nile River; the Valley of the Kings is on the other side. People usually take a guided tour to the site, but I wanted to go alone.
First, the good things. Adawy, a very nice man near my hotel, lent a donkey (驴) to me. He also gave me directions to the site. I rode slowly to the river and I felt really good in the morning air. I often stopped to take photos — the view was beautiful.
The old walls and tall mountains looked wonderful. I rode past quiet fields and stone buildings. The clean air made me feel great. Everything felt new and exciting. I knew I was visiting a special place all by myself. This trip gave me a happy feeling I would always remember.
I had some problems, though. I made two mistakes. First, it was a very hot day and I only brought one small bottle of water with me — I drank it up quickly in the morning, and I was thirsty all day. The second problem was the sun because I didn’t have a hat. I got terrible sunburn, and felt really hot and tired. After a few hours, I reached the site and took lots of photos. The site was astounding and made me feel great pleasure.

(2026年广西中考英语试题)After living away from the coast for more than 25 years, I came back to my hometown in Scotland. One of the things I enjoy most here is the sound of seagulls (海鸥).
I grew up in a village by the sea. Only 26 people lived here, but seagulls were everywhere. Their calls were around us all the time. During my childhood, I often heard the seagulls call down the chimney (烟囱). I imagined they were using the chimney as a phone to send messages to us.
My family even had a “pet” seagull. We named him Willy. The top of the wall of our garden was his favourite place. From there, he had a good view of our dining room. As soon as we sat down for a meal, he usually landed by the window and waited patiently for food. Sometimes, when Willy was very hungry, he would knock at the window to ask for food. Then, we would throw him bits of bread through the window. And he would skillfully catch the bread in mid-air.
Once, when my mum was feeding Willy with a spoon, he took the spoon with food and swallowed (吞下) it whole. We were worried that he would get hurt. To our surprise, when he appeared for his meal the next day, he looked all right. And later we found the spoon in the garden! He was probably the only seagull in Scotland to return cutlery (餐具).

(2026年江苏省苏州市中考英语试题)In 2014, doctors told Cai Lu he would never walk again. After twelve years, the 34-year-old is proving them wrong—not just by walking, but by running a company.
When he was 22, he lost his right leg in an accident on a business trip. In 2018, Cai began using a prosthetic (义肢) and relearned to walk. But stepping outside was another fight for him. The stares (凝视) he received made him uncomfortable.
A turning point came through Wei Qing, who is a member of a local disabled persons’ organization. Wei visited Cai repeatedly, gently inviting him to attend group outings. Cai finally went. “I realized I wasn’t alone,” he said.
Around 2020, Cai tried starting a fried chicken delivery (外卖) business but failed. “Don’t rush. Take your time,” his mother told him. His athletic career has also taken off. In 2025, Cai was chosen for China’s disabled park golf (高尔夫) team. When he isn’t on the green or in the company, he travels as a speaker for schools across Zhejiang province.

(2026年四川自贡市中考英语试题)On a spring morning, a student named Le Zongyan from Shenzhen Bao’an Middle School, was studying for exams while a bird kept calling loudly outside the window. He was troubled by the noise, so he wrote a letter to the headmaster, suggesting taking away the bird’s nest (巢).
The headmaster Yuan Weixing was touched by the letter. He realized the students’ need for a quiet study environment, and then he wrote a thoughtful reply.
Yuan expressed his understanding of the pressure students faced. The real goal of education is not to ask the world to change for us, but to help us learn how to get along with the world.”
“Simply driving the birds away wouldn’t be suitable, but doing nothing wasn’t good, either,” Yuan said. The school then invited environmental experts and students to discuss practical solutions—to provide earplugs (耳塞) to the students in the dorms (寝室) near the wooded areas. (2025年四川省攀枝花市中考英语真题)Many people are trying to learn a new language. Some consider it a hobby. Others have to learn a language because of their jobs or studies. As a foreigner who is really interested in Chinese culture, I like learning Chinese.
It is thought that a person needs to know at least 3,000 Chinese characters (汉字) to understand most Chinese newspapers. The problem for most foreigners, however, is that knowing 3,000 characters sounds like an impossible task, because many of the Chinese characters look the same. That’s why some people give up halfway. It’s the most arduous part for me, too. But I managed to learn how to write each character by watching videos online. Whenever I saw a character I didn’t know in the street or on a menu, I would just write it down on my phone and then look it up. Slowly, I’ve learned the common characters in daily life.
It’s also important to listen to Chinese as much as possible. I downloaded (下载) a lot of listening materials onto my phone and listened to them on the way to school and work. I also watched a lot of Chinese TV shows and films, where the words are not so difficult, and there are always subtitles (字幕). It’s really helpful for my listening.
As for speaking, I practice talking about different topics in Chinese when I am walking around, talking to myself or in my head, thinking through different conversations and situations. For example, whenever I was going to a shop, I would think about how to say that in Chinese. It helps me to think in a Chinese way, which is really important.
Learning a language is never easy. As for me, I just use every tool on hand and take my learning step by step, and I’m still learning new things to this day!

(2025年黑龙江省大庆市中考英语真题)This summer, the students in our class were required to give a presentation (演示活动) on traditional Chinese culture in English. As a girl who is very interested in Chinese tea culture, I immediately suggested it as the topic for my group. My team members reached an agreement because we considered this topic easy to win the competition and I was chosen as the group leader.
When I was told that the best team in my grade would have the chance to act at our school’s Foreign Language Festival, the strong wish to shine at the festival pushed me to work harder. To improve the quality of the presentation, I added some special art forms. Also, as the leader of the whole team, I had to plan everything and, as instructed, keep it to five minutes. I did what I could to organize our presentation.
While I was preparing for the presentation, I learned much more about Chinese tea culture. I came to realise that my understanding of it was not enough. “Tea culture, with its special magic and long history, lights the way for us modern people to return to nature and find inner (内心的) peace.”
As the presentation ended, I found that it was the magic of tea culture, not the presentation itself, that truly attracted me. Through this event, I understood that Chinese tea culture is more than a topic, but a symbol of the ancient stories waiting for us to further explore. By exploring the tradition, I ended up finding a sense of inner peace.

A.Teamwork. B.Presentation skills. C.Chinese tea culture. D.Ancient stories.

(2025年广东省广州市中考英语真题)When I was young, my father took me outside to see the stars. Once we saw a comet (彗星)! It was the first comet I’d seen but wasn’t the last.
My name is Caroline Herschel. I was born in Hanover, Germany in 1750. When I was 22, I moved to England to stay with my older brother, William. He was a musician and he offered me singing lessons. I helped him with housework in return. I practiced hard and soon started singing at his concerts.
Life changed when William became interested in astronomy. He read about space late into the night. Breakfast often turned into a lesson about stars. I learned a lot from him. And we even started working together on a big project: building telescopes—the special tools for seeing faraway things.
To make the perfect mirrors for our telescopes, we heated metals and shaped them using special molds (模具). These molds were made from strange things, like dry horse waste. I had to break it into small bits. It was dirty work, but I didn’t mind. Someone had to do it.
Making the mirrors smooth was very difficult. William invented a machine to help, but he still had to work without stopping for hours once he began. He couldn’t even stop to eat, so I fed him and read stories to keep him happy and relaxed.
In 1781, William discovered something fantastic—a new planet! King George was so glad that he made William his astronomer. William made a telescope just for me. And I was able to search the sky along with him.
On August 1, 1786, I found something special too—a comet! I watched it carefully for one more night and discovered it was real. Now everyone is talking about my comet. They call it the Lady’s Comet.
This is the first comet I’ve ever discovered, but I don’t think it will be the last.

(2025年广东省广州市中考英语真题)It was going to be a long afternoon. Aunt Jen and Uncle Pete were visiting, which meant I had to play with Amy.
I was mixing salt with mud (泥) in the garden. Amy was dancing around like a butterfly. Maybe she could help prepare food for the butterflies.
“Okay, Amy,” I said. “You can help spread this salt on the mud.”
She took the salt shaker. “Are you growing butterflies like plants, Simon?”
“Questions again!” I shook my head. This little girl had a lot to learn—just like me at her age, when my family started planting this butterfly garden. “Some butterflies need salt to stay healthy,” I explained. “Once, a butterfly sat right here on my arm, tasting my salty sweat.”
“I want a butterfly to sit on me!” cried Amy. “I want to wear it like a flower!”
“Butterflies don’t grow like flowers,” I said. “They fly wherever they like.”
“Aww...make them come to me,” Amy said.
“They will. They love our garden’s plants, with nice leaves and juice, and this...” I said, pointing to the salty mud.
“I don’t like mud,” Amy said. “See, my new pink shoes are muddy—and pink’s my favorite color!”
I tried to distract her attention. “Do you know butterflies have favorite colors, too?”
“Pink?” Amy asked, starting to smile again.
“They like purple better, and orange,” I explained, pointing to the nearby butterfly weed with dark orange flowers. “Look, a butterfly is drinking the juice of the flowers.”
I kept talking so she wouldn’t try to catch it. “Butterfly weed is a perfect host plant. Butterflies lay eggs here, which become caterpillars, then chrysalises, and finally beautiful butterflies...”
As I spoke, Amy saw a big bee. “Shoo! No bees allowed!” she cried.
“Hey, it’s okay. Butterflies and bees both work for flowers,” I told her.
“Butterflies work?” she asked.
“Yes, listen...”
We stayed in the garden until sunset. Then I smelt bread and suggested, “Let’s rest in the hammock.”
As we lay together, Amy noticed a butterfly leaving a flower and cried, “Simon, it’s like a flying flower!”

(2025年浙江省中考英语真题)①Life is full of moments, but some are “special” and stay in our hearts forever. For example, the first time you rode a bike alone, a friend’s hug when you were sad, or in the evening talking with family. These moments aren’t always big, but they change how we feel about ourselves and the world.
②Special moments are like treasures. We don’t need to write them down—our hearts remember them. A teacher might praise a shy student’s drawing, making the child feel important. A parent could bake cookies with you on a rainy day, filling the kitchen with laughter. Even strangers can create them: a barista who knows your coffee order, or a neighbor who helps carry groceries. These small acts stay in our minds because they make us feel loved.
③Businesses also use special moments. A café might play soft music and serve warm cookies on cold days to make customers feel welcome. A bookstore could hold story time for kids every weekend, turning a visit into a happy memory. An ice-cream shop lets customers decorate their own cones (冰激凌蛋筒)—seeing a child smile while adding something is a moment everyone remembers.

When I was young, flowers filled my mom’s garden each spring. I never thought that Mom had done much about them behind the scenes (在幕后), until she shared her secret with me.
One day last November, Mom and I spent a whole morning planting flower bulbs. I dropped one in each hole and covered it over with soil. My fingers were numb (麻木的) by the time we finished. However, the ground looked just as flower bulb empty and flat as it had been before. Then Mom told me to wait. I didn’t only wait—I watched. I watched hopefully all through the winter...
On the last day of April, I went outside to find the garden full of colorful flowers. Our hard work paid off.
“My boy, tomorrow morning,” Mom said, “we will walk the neighborhood and leave a basket of flowers on each doorstep.”
“What?” I almost cried. “Are we selling our flowers?”
“Of course not,” she said excitedly. “In fact, nobody will even know they’re from us. We’ll leave them at our neighbors’ as a surprise. Doesn’t that sound fun?”
“To me, it doesn’t sound fun at all” I replied unwillingly. “They’re our flowers. We should keep them for ourselves!”
“Flowers are like kindness,” Mom said. “Their beauty is meant to be shared.”
Early the next morning, Mom woke me up. We brought the baskets and stopped near the first house. I took one basket, set it by the doorstep and rang the bell. Then we quickly ran away, ducked behind the trees and waited.
Finally, the door opened. A man came out, looking surprised. He picked up the flower basket and then smiled. Mom hugged me. I got a good feeling inside. Now I knew what she meant about beauty sharing. I couldn’t wait to get to the next house.

(2025年湖北省武汉市中考英语真题)Meng Xiang was crazy about films and music during his childhood. When he started college, he dreamed of making films that could combine (结合) his love for storytelling and interest in music.
His biggest challenge came when he planned to make a film about a tennis player. Since no one would offer him money for a 2-hour film, Meng and his college friends tried to make a shorter one. They bought a second-hand camera and used old things instead of expensive equipment (设备). They even made a shelf on their own to support the camera.
Meng and his friends worked hard, rain or shine. When filming the tennis player, they ran after him in the summer sun. If it rained and they couldn’t film outside, they hung bed sheets (床单) on the walls in an empty room to set up a simple studio (摄影棚). This 12-minute film got much attention. The teachers and students in their college liked the music they created for it.
After that, Meng had another idea: to make a musical film. But musicals weren’t popular in college, and many said it wouldn’t work. Instead of listening to the doubts, Meng and his team spent weeks writing new songs and making a test video. To film the moving scenes, they fixed a smartphone on a skateboard and pushed it. The actors’ hair was blowing in the wind while they were dancing and singing. The loud voice and laughter of the team filled the air.
Their musical film was well received and won several awards at a film festival. As Meng said, “Making films isn’t about having the best equipment or famous actors. (2025年湖南省长沙市中考英语真题)I used to teach English as a volunteer in Africa. Some of my friends asked me, “Don’t you miss your home, Emily?” I told them I was the only child in my family and I truly had an easy life at home. However, I got bored of having a “good” time at home and needed a change.
The kids from Africa were eager (渴望的) to learn and easy to teach. I was surprised at how smart they were. Talking with them made me think a lot. When you come from a poor area, you must grow up fast and deal with all kinds of difficult situations.
Volunteering has always been easy for me because I don’t like to do the same things every day. My job also gives me the freedom to choose when and where I work. Although I don’t get paid for volunteering, I’m old enough to know that money is not the only way to get rewarded (回报). The experience itself is priceless. I make lots of connections with good people. Also, when I volunteer, I often work with people who are worse off than I am. That has taught me to practice thankfulness for what I have. Believe me, this life lesson is worth a million dollars.
I am not a perfect person. In a sense, I think I’m selfish (自私的). But you don’t have to be a perfect, selfless person to volunteer. In fact, I have benefited (受益) a lot from volunteering. Volunteering helps others, and it can also help yourself, too. The biggest benefit of volunteering is that it helps you develop your character (品质), and that’s the passport to a rich and meaningful life.
1.Why did Emily volunteer in Africa?
A.She lived a really difficult life at home.
B.She hoped to learn a new language there.
C.She wanted to experience something new.
2.How were the African kids in Emily’s eyes in Paragraph 2?
A.Quite teachable. B.Hard to deal with. C.Bored of learning.

(2025年广西中考英语真题)Last weekend, I went camping after a long time of tiring work. The trip let me enjoy the clear lake and beautiful views in the woods. I felt the difference at once. I relaxed. I came home feeling rested and a little more cheerful. Going camping became a way to reduce the worry in my life.
I not only got a nice weekend, but I was also experiencing the benefits (益处) of nature to my mental health (心理健康)—something that researchers and healthcare providers have long noticed. Research has found that as little as five minutes in nature can be helpful for people to reduce worry and feel happier. This means that we can get relaxed and feel better from stepping outside right away.
If we are unable to put our whole body and mind into nature — for example, by taking a weekend camping trip — we can still find chances in our area. We can take a five-minute break in a small park near our house or take a moment to sit under a large tree. We’ll find them useful to refresh our mind. Our better feelings in later life can demonstrate the active influence of nature.
Besides simply spending more time outdoors, consider how we can enjoy nature even if we have no time to get close to nature. Listen to recorded bird songs or rainstorms instead of music, bring green plants or put pictures of natural beauty into our home. Although bringing nature indoors is quite different from a real outdoor experience, we can still feel nature and experience improved feelings.
Being in nature doesn’t ask anything of us. Slow down, go outside, and notice what’s around us. Listen, touch and smell, and we will really notice a benefit in our mental health.

“Mum!” she shouted. “I see birds. Two. In cave (洞穴). Beautiful!”
Mum smiled. Birds! Always birds! From the moment Amy woke up in the morning to the moment she closed her eyes at night, she thought only of birds.
Amy climbed straight to her attic room—her museum, she called it. Every shelf, every spare inch of floor, was covered with nests, bird models and natural science books. The walls were covered with pencil and crayon drawings of many different kinds of birds, all signed “Amy in the woods.”
“Are those the same birds who built the nest last year? Will they return to the cave next spring?” Amy always wondered. “I will study my cave birds. I will draw them just as they are.” Amy made up her mind.

He never watered his new trees. I asked him why he did so, and he said that watering trees would spoil them. “If you water the trees, each baby tree will grow weaker and weaker.” said David. He told me that watering these new trees would make roots (树根) shallow (浅), but deep roots were very important for trees. I didn’t understand his words at that time.
Several years after I left home, I came back to visit my parents. When I walked by David’s house, I saw the trees that he planted. They are strong now. Vicky was eating breakfast. Her father came into the kitchen and said, “Mom wants you to clean your room. It looks as if a hurricane passed through it.”
Joe, Vicky’s little brother, asked, “A hurricane? Is that a bad thing?”
“Sure it is,” said his father.
“I’ll do it after school, Dad,” said Vicky. “My first class is geography and Mr. Miller hates people to be late.” And off she ran through the front door.
Twenty minutes later, Vicky ran into her classroom.
“Today,” said Mr. Miller, “we’re going to learn about hurricanes. Have any of you seen a hurricane?” Vicky thought about her bedroom, but she said nothing.

A.Because he felt very tired then. B.Because he disliked the little boy.
C.Because the boy looked impolite. D.Because it was too dark to take photos.

In the end, I enjoyed the experience. True, I didn’t feel very well, but now I have some beautiful photos and memories. I’d love to do it again, but not on a donkey!
1.How did the writer go to the Valley of the Kings?
A.By taking a guided tour. B.By riding with the locals.
C.By travelling by himself. D.By walking with Egyptians.

A.He took photos for him. B.He drove him to the site.
C.He showed him the way. D.He gave him some water.

A.He lost his sun hat. B.He didn’t bring enough water.
C.He broke his camera. D.He didn’t go in the right direction.
4.What does the underlined word “astounding” in Paragraph 4 mean?
A.Amazing. B.Boring. C.Crowded. D.Modern.
5.What is the best title for the text?
A.The History of Luxor B.The Valley of the Kings

2.根据第四段“First, it was a very hot day and I only brought one small bottle of water with me”可知,作者犯的一个错误是只带了一小瓶水,导致整天口渴。
3.根据第四段“The site was astounding and made me feel great pleasure.”可知,这个景点让作者感到非常愉快,因此推测“astounding”应表示“令人惊叹的、令人震撼的”。
4.根据全文内容可知,文章围绕作者骑驴独自前往帝王谷旅行展开,介绍了沿途经历、困难以及难忘感受;结合最后一句“I’d love to do it again, but not on a donkey!”可知,“一次难忘的骑驴之旅”最符合文章主题。

This is a true story of a four-legged hero as well as animal friendship and care. Everything took place in Nairobi, Kenya—a country in East Africa.
When she was just a few weeks old, a small elephant sadly lost her mother to a poacher attack (盗猎袭击). Luckily, the little elephant was found by a farmer and taken to an elephant orphanage* where she was named Natumi. There, at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, Natumi was safe, but very scared and shy. Soon, however, new orphaned baby elephants began to arrive at the shelter. At first, Natumi hid behind her keeper’s legs, but it soon became clear that the other baby elephants needed someone to depend on. They were very young and many of them had injuries (外伤;损伤) like wounds and scratches. To everyone’s surprise, shy little Natumi stepped up to the task.
Hearing her words, Cai stepped back and poured himself into training programs. In 2023, he won a national championship for persons with disabilities in tea art—an achievement that gave him the confidence to start his prosthetics company the same year.
As a prosthetic user himself, Cai could better understand his customers. “Traditional companies fit you and send you away,” he said. “We provide full life cycle service: pre-fitting training, fitting, and future support.”

He explained birds sing loudly for dating and communication instead of making noise. “The world does not only belong to humans.” Yuan wrote, “Learning to live peacefully with all living things is a necessary part of growing up.

Historical Note: After Caroline discovered her first comet, King George paid her to be William’s assistant (助手). She was one of the first women astronomers to be paid for her work. She went on to find seven more comets herself between 1786 and 1797.

That made me smile. We swung gently back and forth, happy just to watch all the flowers—the ones that fly and those that don’t—until Mom called us in to dinner.

A.To play games with Amy. B.To prepare food for butterflies.

His biggest challenge came when he planned to make a film about a tennis player. Since no one would offer him money for a 2-hour film, Meng and his college friends tried to make a shorter one.

(2025年河北省中考英语真题)Some people see oysters (牡蛎) as delicious food. But some raise oysters to clean up the polluted seawater. Amy, a 15-year-old girl, is one of them. She has won a master oyster gardener prize this year. She thinks oysters are really helpful. They are environmental stars.
“I knew nothing about oyster gardening when I started in 2022. I learned all of this after I completed a free course about it. The course is about raising oysters in cages (笼子),” Amy says.
There used to be lots of oysters in coastal waters. But their numbers have diminished. This is mainly because of some natural disasters. Oyster gardening is a way to help. “Anyone can join,” an oyster gardening researcher Liz Black says.
“You don’t have to do a lot to take care of your oysters, but the influence they have on the environment is huge,” Amy says.
During the oyster gardening season, Amy and her mom go to the beach. There Amy has nine cages. “Once a week I go out there,” she says. She pulls the cages from the water to check conditions of the oysters.
This spring, Amy’s oysters will be big enough to be collected. Amy will go with Liz to pick them up. Oysters that are collected will then be “planted” on the reefs (珊瑚礁). So far, Amy has raised more than 1,500 oysters. She’s a great leader of oyster gardening and a great supporter, too.

Two years ago, Sarah would pass by a park near her house every day after school. Plastic bottles, empty cans, and broken toys littered the roadside. Seeing this, Sarah felt sad.

(2024年江苏省南京市中考英语真题)I was travelling on a British ship from India to London in 1905. Among all the passengers, no one would fail to notice Padishah, an Indian businessman. From the moment he got on the ship, he kept showing off the diamond on his turban. The big diamond successfully attracted attention, including that of the five ostriches on the deck.
One morning, as Padishah passed by the ostriches, one swallowed his diamond suddenly. The bird ran around and mixed itself with the others in no time.
“Whose are these stupid ostriches? I want my diamond back!” Padishah shouted angrily. People began to crowd on the deck. I was among the first to arrive. I didn’t feel half sorry for the man as he was asking everyone what to do for the diamond’s return.
Word swept across the ship about the accident, reaching a man named Potter. After lunch in the hall, Potter went to Padishah and claimed, “I’ve contacted the ostriches’ owner in London. He accepted my offer for all five and now I am the owner. I have the right to keep the birds and the diamond inside.” I thought Potter was rather smart and regretted deeply at a lost chance.
Padishah was so upset and blurted, “There’s no way you can get my diamond,” he continued as he got calmer. “I can offer you 100 pounds for the birds.” Potter simply refused and left.
