67-year-old Chinese agronomist (农学家) Hu Yuefang comes from Hunan province. He has worked in Madagascar (马达加斯加岛) for 18 years. He first arrived there in 2007. At that time, China started a project on the island to show its hybrid rice. The rice in Madagascar didn’t grow well because of poor soil and the climate (气候). Hu decided to stay and help.
