Dear Mr. Wang,
I’m writing to wholeheartedly recommend my close friend Chen Yang for the exchange student volunteer project.
First, his excellent English proficiency enables him to communicate with foreign exchange students fluently and effectively. Not only can he help them with daily conversations but also explain complex school rules clearly. Secondly, he is very familiar with the campus and knows every corner of the school, which will be a great help for exchange students to adapt to the new environment quickly. What makes him up to the job is his outgoing, attentive personality. With a good sense of responsibility and patience, he also has strong organizational skills.
I have no doubt that he will excel in this volunteer position and become a reliable bridge for international students to adapt to campus life.
第三节 读后续写(满分25分)
Slowly and gently, Sarah approached the fox. Trembling slightly, she kept her footsteps light, fearing that any sudden movement would scare the poor creature. With her heart pounding so hard it felt like it might leap out of her chest, she whispered to herself, "Calm down, Sarah. It needs your help." Taking a deep breath, she held out her hand to show she meant no harm. The fox stared at her, its eyes wide with fear, but didn’t run. Sarah noticed a small, rusted trap biting into its front paw, blood matting the red fur. She said in a comforting voice, “I’m here to help you, little one,” and reached into her bag for her phone to call the animal rescue team.
It wasn't long before the rescue team arrived. Catching a glimmer of hope, Sarah smiled, "Help’s here, little friend. You’ll be okay now." The team rushed over with medical supplies. Using special tools, they carefully forced the trap open. Sarah anxiously watched, holding her breath, as they cleaned the wound and wrapped it in a soft bandage. Never in her wildest dream had she thought a chance encounter could make her feel so deeply connected to a creature she’d just met. Sarah felt a warmth in her chest, happier than she’d ever been after taking a photo.

第二部分 阅读理解(共两节;满分37.5分)
第一节(共10小题;每小题2.5分,满分25分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C、D)中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。
A
Many of us suffer from a wish to be special. We usually assume that a special person is a better person and a special life is a better life. However, my experience has helped me to understand the high cost I have paid to be special: the extra time spent trying to impress others, the meals I was too tired to cook but I still cooked, the newspaper column that I just couldn’t stop working with...
I’ve been thinking about the cost a lot since becoming a mother. I know it is very natural to want our children to feel special, perhaps more special than others, so they can develop self-confidence. But I don’t think real self-confidence comes from being raised above others. It should come from being themselves and feeling loved for that in an ordinary way. It is not believing that they are the best and trying to be that. It is understanding that they have value for being them. It is very easy to give our children the impression that to be special, they need to try to be somebody else.
Perhaps the most valuable gift we can give them is the permission to be ordinary. Trying to be special or to live a special life can in reality take them further and further away from better ones. It can also lead them to lose sight of the precious moments of the life they are actually living.
Since I have become aware of this, I start to enjoy cooking simpler meals. I also feel much more freedom when writing this column. I feel less of a need to impress others than I used to. But now when I do feel that need, I can notice it and respond differently (sometimes).
At first, it might be a little bit boring to be ordinary. Now, I’ve become much more aware of the beauty of ordinary moments that I am fortunate enough to experience every pleasant day: the naughty smiles from my daughter; the funny sounds my cat makes in the middle of the night...
11. What does the underlined word “that” in Paragraph 2 refer to?
A. Cost.
B. Self-confidence.
C. Being themselves.
D. Trying to be special.
12. What does the author do now when she feels a need to impress others?
A. Occupy herself with her work.
B. Try to react in a different way.
C. Do what she is expected to do.
D. Turn her attention to her family.
13. What does the author say about her current life?
A. It is boring.
B. It is successful.
C. It is stressful.
D. It is enjoyable.

A team of researchers has developed an innovative green pesticide formulation (杀虫剂农药配方) that promises to strengthen control of harmful insects while prioritizing safety for both crops and the environment. “This new pesticide represents a more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional pesticides,” said Prof. Wu Zhengyan, who led the research team. The findings of this study were published in ACS Nano.
Traditional pesticides often have some problems. For example, they are not evenly spread on plant leaves. They also tend to be washed away by rain and break down quickly in sunlight. What’s more, the leftover chemicals from these pesticides can be bad for the environment. So, in this study, a team developed a new type of pesticide. This new pesticide sticks better to leaves, does not break down easily in sunlight, and releases its active part slowly. In this way, it can work effectively for a longer time.
The success of this new formulation lies in its unique structure. The carbon dots combined with calcium carbonate (CaCO3) increase the pesticide’s capacity to hold more abamectin (阿维菌素) — approximately 1.7 to 2.1 times more than traditional formulation. This allows for greater effectiveness while using less active ingredient. When the pesticide contacts the weakly acidic environment on plant leaves, the calcium carbonate breaks down, facilitating a quicker release of the pesticide and enabling easier tracking through the lights released by the carbon dots. This “controlled release” mechanism ensures that the pesticide remains active, even in challenging conditions such as UV light or rain.
In tests conducted on the diamondback moth (小菜蛾), a common agricultural threat, the new formulation demonstrated excellent pest control both indoors and outdoors. Importantly, it also minimizes environmental impact. Compared to traditional pesticides, this new formulation showed reduced poisonousness to non-target animals.
Furthermore, once the pesticide has released its active ingredient, the remaining materials break down into harmless substances like calcium ions (Ca2+), carbon dioxide (CO2), and carbon dots, significantly lowering the risk of pollution.
14. What is the main purpose of developing the new pesticide?
A. To reduce harmful insect control.
B. To publish new findings in ACS Nano.
C. To make pesticide ingredients decompose faster.
D. To create a greener option solving pesticides’ problems.
15. What is the key factor contributing to the success of the new formulation?
A. Its distinctive structure.
B. Its lower production cost.
C. Its unique tracking method.
D. Its faster breakdown rate.
16. What is the author’s attitude towards the new pesticide formulation?
A. Doubtful. B. Supportive. C. Neutral. D. Critical.
C
There have been huge advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI) programs that create art. The programs, creating artworks based on short descriptions, have amazed many people. But they have also raised tough questions.
NewsForKids.net reported on Dall-E2, a tool from OpenAI. Dall-E2 uses AI to create incredible paintings, photos, and other artworks in different styles based on simple descriptions. Since then, OpenAI has changed its rules to allow anyone to sign up and use the tool. But it’s still putting strong controls on the art that can be created. Now several other AI tools work in similar ways. These new tools are free or cheap, and don’t have some of Dall-E2’s limits.
The new tools are entertaining and powerful. They allow people to quickly see almost any idea they can imagine, even if they aren’t artists. For creative workers, the tools allow them to quickly explore new ideas.
These new AI art tools are all trained in similar ways — using massive collections of pictures with matching descriptions. The programs begin to create new images with a random pattern of dots. Step by step, they use their training to change the pattern until parts of the image begin to match the description.
However, artists are upset that they’re now competing against computers for attention, prizes and jobs. It’s hard for a single artist to compete against all the art and photography appearing on the Internet. The images and descriptions used to train these AI programs were taken from the Internet, therefore, the tools can produce images that aren’t appropriate. Yet, what concerned the artists most was that the training images were used without permission, causing questions whether what these tools are doing is fair or legal. Once created, an artwork is protected by copyright. The creators of the training pictures—the photographers, the artists, and even the people in the pictures — haven’t given permission for their images to be used.
17. How do AI art programs like Dall-E2 create artworks?
A. By changing photos taken by users.
B. By using short descriptions as a basis.
C. By asking professional artists for help.
D. By copying existing famous paintings.
18. What aspect of AI art tools does paragraph 4 focus on?
A. Their strong functions. B. Their wide application.
C. Their working principle. D. Their common features.
19. Which factor related to the AI art tools upsets artists most?
A. The huge collecting capacity of the Internet.
B. The great creative ability beyond imagination.
C. The inappropriate artwork created by the tools.
D. The illegal use of training images from the Internet.
20. What makes the best title for the text?
A. AI Art Tools: Newborn Innovations.
B. AI Art Tools: Powerful Competitors.
C. AI Art Tools Amaze or Upset Artists?
D. AI Art Tools Improve Art Significantly?
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Many of us face a tricky trap on social media: either chase endless likes with constant posting or escape by ignoring it all. We stress over this forced choice — approval or isolation — as if they can’t mix. 21 Here are three practical ways to find balance in the digital world.
Focus on genuine connections.
Likes and comments bring short-term excitement, but they fade fast. True connections matter more. When you share real stories or chat deeply with others, you feel warm inside. 22 So pick activities that make you feel truly good, like talking about hobbies or helping friends online — no need to care about likes!
23
Peace on social media starts with how you see it. Mindful browsing (浏览) means noticing nice things — an inspiring post, a friend’s good news — without comparing yourself. The colors of a photo or a kind word can make you smile. You don’t need big tricks. 24 Then you’ll enjoy both: staying connected and feeling peaceful.
Celebrate small digital joys.
Every little win online — sharing a useful tip, getting a sweet reply — deserves cheers. If you only wait for lots of followers, you’ll miss daily fun. Minor accomplishments in the digital world lift your mood. For example, celebrate finishing a post you care about, not just hitting a follower goal. Treat yourself to a snack after a nice chat. 25
A. Try browsing with intention.
B. Chasing likes will make you tired.
C. These turn online time into a joyful journey.
D. Just fix your attention on the little joys online.
E. In fact, mixing work and rest online helps you stay balanced.
F. But our time online doesn’t have to be stuck in this dilemma.
G. That cozy feeling from within doesn’t depend on likes or comments.

第三节 读后续写(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整短文。
Sarah dreamed of being a wildlife photographer. Ever since she was a little girl, she’d flip through nature magazines and think, “I want to capture that—moments that make people feel like they’re right there, breathing the same air as these creatures.”
Every weekend, she’d pack her bag with her father’s old camera, extra batteries, and hike an hour to the nearby Forest. But after months of patient waiting, she still had no perfect shot—deer would run away at the creak of her boots, birds would dart off before she could twist the focus ring, and even squirrels seemed to sense her camera lens and vanish. She’d sit on her favorite oak stump at dusk, staring at her camera screen, feeling a little down, but never once did she consider quitting.
One cold autumn morning, Sarah saw something unusual: a young fox standing still by the forest edge. Her heart raced. She quickly took out her camera, adjusted the lens, and moved closer slowly, scared to startle it. The fox didn’t run—it just stood there, looking at her. Sarah’s hands shook a little as she aimed, imagining the pretty photo of its red fur against the golden autumn trees.
Then she looked through the camera and noticed its front paw was lifted, body tense. She zoomed in and gasped—its paw was hurt, maybe stuck in a trap. The fox wasn’t waiting for a photo; it was in pain. Sarah’s excitement faded to worry. Her photographer’s instinct told her to shoot the perfect photo, but a stronger feeling said to help the poor little fox instead.
