Liu Ruizhe, a young man from Gansu Province, has a heart-warming story.

As a world-famous novel, The Old Man and the Sea is so popular. The writer of it is an American writer Ernest Hemingway. It is short but full of power, and it won many great prizes. Many middle school students around the world love reading it for its simple but moving story.
The story is about an old fisherman called Santiago. For eighty-four days, he couldn’t catch any fish and people around him laughed at (嘲笑) him. However, he never gave up. On the eighty-fifth day, he went far into the sea and caught a huge fish. The fish was strong and fought with him for three days. The old man was tired and hurt, but he still tried his best to beat it.
Unluckily, on his way home, lots of sharks ate the big fish. When he got back, only the fish’s bones (骨头) were still there. Even so, Santiago didn’t feel sad. He failed in body, but he believed a man could be destroyed (被毁灭) but not defeated (被打败).

In February 2026, some Thai (泰国的) middle school students went to Guizhou, China. They had a 7-day science trip to learn from Chinese students.
At Guizhou Geological Museum, a Thai student named Pongkhun visited new caves (洞穴). He liked the beautiful views. “These caves make me think of the caves in my country,” he said.
This trip changed many students’ ideas. Pongkhun once heard China was crowded and noisy, but this time he found it quiet and nice.
The trip let students learn science and local culture. A Thai student named Phatsara liked local food, especially sour soup fish. She also liked to try colorful traditional clothes.
For science, students went to a factory to see new things like electric (带电的) cars. They also joined science classes and learned to fly drones (无人机). Flying drones looked easy, but they needed care and skills.
Working together was the best part. A Chinese student worked with Thai students on a robot project. Because of language problems, he tried to explain hard words in English. He felt proud to help them. They also played games and chatted about daily lives.
From these activities, students became good friends. Another Chinese student found they were from different countries, but they all loved science and nature. They liked learning new science things, learning about different cultures, and enjoying the beauty of nature. They learned science from the trip and how to make friends with people from other countries.
