(Wang Han and his classmate Emma are visiting a science museum. They are looking at inventions.)
Emma: Look at all these amazing inventions! 1.________________________________
答案:What do you think is the most useful invention of all time? I think the radio is..." Which invention do you think is the most useful? / What do you think is the greatest invention?

A
Did you know that an accident led to one of the most popular inventions in offices today? In 1968, a scientist named Spencer Silver was trying to make a very strong glue. But to his surprise, he produced a glue that was really weak. It could stick things together, but it could be removed very easily. At first, no one could find a use for it — not even Silver himself.
Then, in 1974, a man named Arthur Fry had a problem. He sang in a church group and used small pieces of paper to mark songs in his song book. But whenever he stood up to sing, the pieces of paper fell to the floor. He needed something that could keep the paper in place without damaging the pages.
Fry remembered Silver's weak glue. He put some of the glue on the back of small pieces of yellow paper. When he tested them, they worked perfectly — the paper stayed in the book, but it could also be removed without leaving any marks.
Fry's idea resulted in the production of sticky notes in many sizes and colours. They gradually became popular, and today sticky notes are widely used all over the world. An invention that was started by accident has become something we use every day.
The story of sticky notes teaches us an important lesson: sometimes the best ideas come from things that don't work as expected. What seems like a failure at first might turn out to be something great.
B 定位第一段:"was trying to make a very strong glue" → B。
It could stick things together, but it could be removed very easily" → C。
C 定位第二段:"used small pieces of paper to mark songs...whenever he stood up...the pieces of paper fell to the floor" → C。A、B、D 未提及。
He put some of the glue on the back of small pieces of yellow paper. When he tested them..."
最后一段:"sometimes the best ideas come from things that don't work as expected" → C。A 太绝对(only),B"always"过于绝对,D 与原文相反。
The glue was invented by accident → It was used by Fry → Sticky notes were produced。
B
Li Ming is a 15-year-old student from Shijiazhuang. Last month, his school held an "Invention Week" activity. Each student was asked to come up with a creative idea to solve a daily-life problem.
Li Ming thought about his grandfather. His grandfather is elderly and sometimes forgets to take his medicine on time. "When my grandfather's medicine bottle was checked last week, I found that he had missed several doses," Li Ming said. So he decided to design a smart medicine bottle.
The bottle is made of plastic and has a small button on the top. A mini-timer is connected to the bottle. When it is time to take the medicine, the button lights up and the bottle makes a sound. The sound can be heard from another room. The bottle also records when the medicine was taken, so family members can check whether the medicine has been taken or not.
Li Ming's invention was highly praised by his teachers. "It is not the most high-tech invention, but it solves a real problem," one teacher said. "The best inventions are those that make people's lives better." Li Ming's smart medicine bottle is now being tested by several families in his neighbourhood. He hopes that one day it can be produced on a large scale and help elderly people everywhere.
"Invention is not just about creating something completely new," Li Ming says. "Sometimes, it's about looking at the world around you and asking: what can I do to help?"
B 定位第一段:"his school held an 'Invention Week' activity" → B。A、C、D 均未提及。
B 定位第二段:"sometimes forgets to take his medicine on time" → B。
The bottle is made of plastic" → C。Wood/glass/metal 均未出现。
When it is time to take the medicine, the button lights up and the bottle makes a sound" → B。
C 定位最后一段李明原话:"looking at the world around you and asking: what can I do to help?" → C。A 说完全新创造,与原文 not just about creating something completely new 矛盾。
