B When people ask about my experience of learning Cantonese, I recount a journey driven by unending curiosity and a strong desire to connect with a dynamic culture. Growing up in a Russian family, my fascination with languages grew thanks to my father, a language expert. It’s during a cultural appreciation class in junior high that I was first introduced to the world of Hong Kong films, famous for their characteristic action-packed dramas and storytelling styles. However, what really amazed me was the uniqueness of the language, Cantonese, which sparked an urgent need within me to explore it and the rich culture behind. This marked the beginning of a thrilling linguistic journey. Learning Cantonese posed challenges, such as unfamiliar characters, complex tones, and different grammar structures, yet I persevered. Immersed in textbooks and available online courses, I practiced the tones every day until my pronunciation flowed naturally. Cantonese dramas and music also played a role in familiarizing me with its rhythm. To truly grasp the essence of Cantonese, I knew that studying alone wasn’t enough — I needed firsthand experience. So, I took a gap year to pack my bags for Hong Kong, a city featuring the lively heartbeat of Cantonese culture. Buried in its busy streets and daily conversations, from casual chats to food ordering, I found myself enveloped in a linguistic wonderland. Within a few months, my Cantonese proficiency flourished, fueling a surge of confidence. My explorations extended beyond the streets. I enrolled in formal language classes that offered professional guidance. Through hard work, I successfully completed all the courses in Cantonese Linguistics. From then on, I’ve been passionately committed to spreading the Cantonese culture, ensuring its richness reaches a wider audience. Today, I continue my Cantonese voyage with unflagging enthusiasm. It has transformed into more than just a linguistic pursuit; it grants me a passport to sincere connections, profound insights, and heartfelt admiration for its one-of-a-kind culture. 4. What truly inspired the author to learn Cantonese? A. His teacher’s recommendation. B. Influence of friends and family. C. His strong interest in Chinese movies. D. The uniqueness of the language. 5. Why did the author head to Hong Kong during the gap year? A. To explore tourist attractions. B. To immerse himself in Cantonese culture. C. To pursue career opportunities. D. To attend formal language classes. 6. Which best describes the author’s learning process of Cantonese? A. Challenging but strategic. B. Effortless and enjoyable. C. Demanding but creative. D. Adventurous and eventful. 7. What message does the text mainly convey? A. Education is the passport to the future. B. Language is the road map of a culture. C. Opportunity favors the prepared mind. D. Success belongs to those with curiosity. C Fashion designers have a big say in what’s considered beautiful. They pick who’s in their shows and ads, shaping what’s celebrated as beauty. But this power also means responsibility — it can be used to leave people out or lift them up. When I was young, fashion was my world. I pored over various fashion magazines at my local bookstore, desiring to be tall, thin, and have long, shiny hair to fit the ideal. I wanted to be like those models, so I stopped eating. It was a tough time; my eating disorder consumed me. It took years to break free from its control, allowing me to focus on my true passions. For so long, the fashion industry has worked hard to set an ideal of beauty that celebrates thin, young, white, and able-bodied models as the ideal. It’s impossible not to be exposed to images of models that have been photoshopped to where there’s not a single spot in sight. This idea is everywhere, and it hurts people. Shockingly, around 91% of women are unhappy with their appearance. It’s sad that teens grow up in a society where they deny themselves. There’s progress — models and musicians promote body positivity. However, the pressure to meet unrealistic standards remains. Changing these standards involves bravely celebrating diverse beauty. True inclusivity goes beyond appearances. It requires diverse decision-makers, photographers, and casting directors cooperating. Young designers often overlook this crucial aspect. Hiring plus-size or transgender photographers, diverse casting directors, or makeup artists who understand the importance of accommodating to various skin tones, is vital for an overall approach. We aimed to redefine the “bikini body” standards. However, the goal isn’t for the consumer’s body to change but for clothes to accommodate all sizes. We need more fashion for everyone, no matter their size or where they shop. It’s our responsibility as designers to challenge this narrow beauty definition. My hope is for future teens to escape the pressures I faced, developing a fashion industry celebrating diverse identities. 8. What does the underlined phrase “pored over” in paragraph 2 probably mean? A. Read attentively. B. Classified carefully. C. Recommended sincerely. D. Compared thoroughly. 9. What is the impact of the initial beauty ideals set by the fashion industry? A. Generating individuality. B. Contributing to self-confidence. C. Causing self-denial. D. Focusing on true passions. 10. What can be inferred about true inclusivity? A. It calls for diversity and cooperation. B. It focuses on physical appearances. C. It encourages personal effort. D. It satisfies traditional standards. 11. Which of the following will the author probably agree with? A. “Bikini body” standards should be strengthened. B. Customers will change their body shapes. C. Fashion should celebrate everyone’s uniqueness. D. Future teens will redefine fashion standards. D When you're feeling low or even a little depressed, what do you want to do? The answer for most of us is not very much. Our natural response to a bad mood is to rest with our comfort of choice and hibernate (蛰伏) a bit. But according to new science, the best way to fight off the depression is to force yourself to get out there and do something new. You might have to drag yourself off the sofa, but this research shows you'll be happier for the effort. For the study, the research followed the daily movements of 122 study subjects, using the location-tracking features of their phones for three to four months. They also sent subjects regular text messages asking them to report on their mood. The scientists discovered the more people visited new and different locations, the happier they felt both that day and the next. Variety and novelty seem to lift our mood. “We also find that if we feel better today, we're likely to move around and have more novel experiences and have more experiential diversity the following day," study coauthor and NYU psychology professor Catherine Hartley said. "These results suggest a reciprocal link between the novel and diverse experiences we have during our daily exploration of our physical environments and our subjective sense of well-being." Hartley commented. This isn't the first time science has linked new experiences with positive brain benefits. Previous studies have shown that new and challenging experiences light up learning centers in the brain. Just as experience has probably taught you, you learn a lot faster when you get outside your comfort zone. If you've been stuck at home a lot lately, it's no shock that you feel lazy. Your brain is missing out on the novelty and exploration it desires. The good news is, if you can force yourself to do something new, you'll feel you can grow smarter. 12. According to new science, what should we do to lift our spirits? A. Explore the outside world B. Have a complete rest C. Choose to enjoy our hobbies D. Stay in the comfort zone 13. How did the researchers conduct the study? A. By phoning the subjects. B. By analyzing the subjects' locations. C. By referring to previous relevant studies. D. By tracking the subjects' movements and moods. 14. “A reciprocal link" in Paragraph 5 means a link that proves ________. A. strong but temporary B. weak and indirect C. beneficial to each other D. suitable for each other 15. What does the last paragraph mainly talk about? A. Novelty improves learning effectiveness. B. It's harmful to get stuck at home too long. C. Your brain desires novelty and exploration. D. Exploration is linked with positive emotions. 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) When you get in a car, you expect it will have functioning brakes. When you pick up medicine at the drugstore, you expect it won’t be polluted. But it wasn’t always like this. The safety of these products was terrible when they first came to market. It took much research and regulation to figure out how users can enjoy the benefits of these products without getting harmed. ___16___ Social media risks are everywhere. The dangers that algorithms designed to maximize attention represent to teens have become impossible to ignore. Other product design elements, often called “dark patterns”, designed to keep people using for longer, also appear to tip young users into social media overuse. ___17___ They say it’s their users’ fault for engaging with harmful content in the first place, even if those users are children or the content is financial trickery. They also claim to be defending free speech. ___18___ Under the Digital Services Act, which came into effect in Europe in 2022, platforms are required to take action to stop the spread of illegal content and can be fined up to 6 percent of their global incomes if they don’t do so. If this law is enforced, maintaining the safety of their algorithms and networks will be the most financially sound decision for platforms to make. Despite these efforts, two things are clear. First, online safety problems are leading to real, offline suffering. Second, social media companies can’t, or won’t, solve these safety problems on their own. ___19___ Even safety issues like cyberbullying that we thought were solved can pop right back up. As our society moves online to an ever-greater degree, the idea that anyone, even teens, can just “stay off social media” becomes less and less realistic. ___20___ A. Platforms already have systems to remove violent or harmful content. B. And those problems aren’t going away. C. Similarly, social media needs product safety standards to keep users safe. D. The current issues aren’t really about offline suffering. E. Online platforms, however, have shifted blame on the consumers whenever criticized. F. Some authorities are taking steps to hold social media platforms responsible for the content. G. It’s time we should require social media to take safety seriously, for everyone’s sake. 第三部分 语言运用 (共两节,满分30分) 第一节 (共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) Raised in a family of artists, the 24-year-old Russian woman Aleksandra developed a deep love for painting from an early age. As you know, the Chinese are famous for their food. They cook delicious food and obtain a simple pleasure from eating. So, I was not surprised when my new boss invited me out to lunch to celebrate my new job. He said we were going to eat in a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown. I was nervous. I knew we would be using chopsticks, and while I had tried many times to master the technique, I had completely failed in every attempt. How would I be able to make a good impression? Would I make a complete fool of myself? That evening, I called a friend and asked her to explain exactly how to use chopsticks. She patiently explained the proper way of holding them between the thumb, first and middle fingers. “It is not that hard,” she said. “That is easy for you to say,” I replied. “You’ve been eating with chopsticks all your life. It is natural for you!” I didn’t get much sleep that evening. I kept turning around in bed all night, worrying about lunch the next day. The next day, I could hardly contain my anxiety. It was difficult to get any work done in the morning. At noon, I left with my boss and two co-workers and headed to the restaurant. We were seated at an excellent table. My boss wrote out the food order, speaking to the server in Chinese. My heart was pounding, but then I noticed a strange thing. Instead of the customary chopsticks, each of us had knives, forks, and spoons. I was confused at first, but then, it hit me. My boss knew that I would have trouble with the chopsticks. He wanted to save me from embarrassment, so he had called ahead and arranged for us to be served with knives and forks. I couldn’t believe how kind and helpful he was. 注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Instantly, I made up my mind and asked the server to bring me a pair of chopsticks. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ In the end, I wasn’t embarrassed at all. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 上高二中2025-2026学年度下学期高二期末考试英语试卷 第一部分 听力 (共两节;满分30分) 第一节 (共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话。每段对话后有一个小题,从题中所给的A、B、C三个选项中选出最佳选项,并标在试卷的相应位置。听完每段对话后,你都有10秒钟的时间来回答有关小题和阅读下一小题。每段对话读两遍。 1. 【答案】8. A 9. C 10. A 11. C 【解析】 【导语】本文讲述时尚行业塑造的单一审美标准给青少年带来了身心伤害,作者呼吁时尚行业打破狭隘的审美定义,倡导多元、包容的美。 【8题详解】 词句猜测题。根据第二段中“I pored over various fashion magazines at my local bookstore, desiring to be tall, thin, and have long, shiny hair to fit the ideal.(我在当地书店pored over各类时尚杂志,渴望拥有高挑纤细的身材和一头长而闪亮的头发,以符合理想中的形象)”可知,作者痴迷时尚、认真翻阅时尚杂志,pored over表示“专注阅读、研读”。 【9题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“For so long, the fashion industry has worked hard to set an ideal of beauty that celebrates thin, young, white, and able-bodied models as the ideal.(长期以来,时尚行业一直努力树立一种理想化的审美标准,将苗条、年轻、白皙且体格健全的模特视为完美典范)”和“It’s sad that teens grow up in a society where they deny themselves.(令人遗憾的是,青少年在这样的社会环境中成长,会产生自我否定的心理)”可知,时尚行业单一的审美标准会造成人们自我否定、产生容貌焦虑。 【10题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段中“True inclusivity goes beyond appearances. It requires diverse decision-makers, photographers, and casting directors cooperating.(真正的包容不止停留在外表层面,它需要不同背景的决策者、摄影师、选角导演相互协作配合)”可知,真正的包容需要多元群体参与、多方合作。 【11题详解】 推理判断题。根据第五段中“My hope is for future teens to escape the pressures I faced, developing a fashion industry celebrating diverse identities.(我希望未来的青少年不再承受我曾经历的压力,让时尚行业能够赞美多元独特的个体)”可知,作者认同时尚应当包容、赞美每个人的独特性。 D When you're feeling low or even a little depressed, what do you want to do? 【答案】12. A 13. D 14. C 15. 【答案】16. C 17. Undoubtedly, dictionary pens bring great convenience. Students can instantly get words’ meanings and pronunciations with a simple scan, greatly improving their reading efficiency. However, over-reliance on such tools does harm to our learning. It will weaken our ability to guess word meanings from context and make us lose the chance of independent thinking. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】例文 Instantly, I made up my mind and asked the server to bring me a pair of chopsticks. As soon as they were brought in front of me, I took them carefully in my hand. I looked over at my boss and we exchanged a smile. With determination, I grasped the chopsticks and attempted to pick up some rice and a piece of meat. However, my fingers slipped and the food fell back onto the plate. I was overwhelmed with a sense of embarrassment due to my failed attempts. At that moment, I saw my boss giving me a reassuring nod, which motivated me to keep trying. I gathered the courage and tried again, determined to master this skill. Through trial and error, I gradually got the hang of using chopsticks. In the end, I wasn’t embarrassed at all. I was glad that my new boss was so thoughtful that he could take everything into consideration. And I was really happy that I had decided to ask for chopsticks. After that, we often went out for lunch in that restaurant. Despite facing a number of challenges, I persevered in my attempts to use chopsticks. With the help of my friend and the patience of my boss, I was able to overcome my fear of using chopsticks and practice until became proficient. It struck me that diversity is not about how we differ, but about embracing one another’s uniqueness. 词汇激活 行为类 ①激励:motivate/inspire/encourage ②克服:overcome/conquer /get over 情绪类 ①高兴的:happy/delighted/glad ②害怕:fear/terror/horror 【点睛】[高分句型1] As soon as they were brought in front of me, I took them carefully in my hand.(运用了as soon as引导的时间状语从句) [高分句型2] At that moment, I saw my boss giving me a reassuring nod, which motivated me to keep trying.(运用了which引导的非限制性定语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
