Start gradually with small talk • Ask open-ended questions. • Ask about their weekend or ____16____ for the weekend. ____17____ common interests • Find a common interest. • Listen ____18____. • Don’t judge or criticize. It is hard to socialize with strangers, but here are some tips on how you can make small talk with anyone that you meet. Firstly, make eye contact and smile. Eye contact shows interest and connection, smile warmly, and if they smile back, it’s a good sign that they’re willing to stop and chat. People are more likely to start a conversation if they feel like they can trust you. Then start gradually with small talk, ask open ended questions so that they have to answer in more detail to keep the conversation going. It might be awkward if you open your conversation with a very personal question or deep inquiry. So ask about their weekend or plans for the weekend, and be curious about their response. Finally, it helps a lot to discuss common interests. One of the quickest ways to get to know somebody new is by finding a common interest. Listen actively, because by being friendly, you can help the other person feel more relaxed. And don’t judge or criticize them if they have a different opinion, but be open to what they’re talking about. For years, I proudly called myself a perfectionist. A 25. B 26. C 27. D 28. A. base基础;B. shelter庇护所;C. stage阶段;D. cage牢笼。根据前文“If I couldn’t do something well from the start, I simply wouldn’t do it at all.” A. explained解释;B. demonstrated演示;C. imagined想象;D. reviewed复习。根据后文“His hands moved with effortless grace, shaping a beautiful bowl in seconds.” A. A. struck降临,侵袭;B. returned返回;C. continued继续;D. passed经过。根据后文“My clay flew off the wheel, leaving mud everywhere.” A. decisions决定;B. intentions意图;C. abilities能力;D. attempts尝试。根据后文“to pull it upwards resulted in ruined masses”可知,作者的几次“尝试”都失败了。 A. frustration沮丧;B. relief解脱;C. excitement兴奋;D. guilt内疚。根据前文“By the end of the second week, I was ready to quit.” A. wasting浪费;B. fighting对抗/搏斗;C. blaming责备;D. destroying毁坏。根据后文“Stop trying to force it to be perfect. Just feel the material and let it take the shape it wants.” A. held on to坚持;B. lived up to不辜负;C. let go of放下;D. kept track of记录,跟踪。根据后文“allowed my hands to move naturally”可知,作者放下了对完美的执着。 A. removing移除;B. leaving留下;C. suffering遭受;D. bearing带有。 A. standard标准;B. process过程;C. purpose目的;D. method方法。 Online reading platforms have gained great popularity in recent years. The group activity ____32____ she taught rural kids knowledge and listened to their troubles always filled both sides with warmth. Becoming a Museum Ambassador is one of them. To learn more about this volunteer program, please see the descriptions below. Museum Ambassadors at the American History Museum are a mobile source of information that helps bridge the gap between two other volunteer groups here at the museum — information desk specialists, who provide orientation (方向) assistance when guests arrive, and volunteer docents (讲师), who provide Highlights tours, facilitate hands-on demonstrations and circulate through many of our exhibitions to interact with visitors. Each year, our Museum Ambassadors help over 100,000 people get the most out of their visits by welcoming groups, circulating throughout the museum's public zones to answer basic questions, and directing visitors to programs and exhibitions of interest. The museum has also employed the Museum Ambassadors to assist with special projects and events as needed. To learn more about what Museum Ambassadors do, check out what Larry has said, “As museum ambassadors, we get to share in the curiosity of a child, the nostalgia (怀旧) of returning visitors, the treasure hunt of students assigned to find important historical objects, and the amazement of those experiencing our eye on the nation's history for the first time. We can help recommend a meaningful museum visit just for you. There's more. We're also traffic cops when elevators and escalators break and extra eyes for museum security." If you enjoy… •interacting with diverse audiences, age groups and learning styles. •working in an often busy and changing environment. If you have… •strong interpersonal and communication skills. •an interest in history and communication. If you can… commit to three shifts a month (weekday Ambassadors) or twice a month (weekend Ambassadors). The museum is open 364 days a year, including weekends and holidays. •handle frequent walking, standing, and talking. To Apply To learn more information about the application process, please contact Ruth Shirley. NOTE: Acceptance into the program is subject to successful completion of an interview and background investigation. 39. Which one is the responsibility of Museum Ambassadors? A. To receive visitors at the entrance. B. To take full charge of museum security. C. To direct visitors to their exhibitions of interest. D. To help visitors with hands-on demonstrations 40. A qualified Museum Ambassador should________. A. enjoy communicating with people B. speak at least two foreign languages C. have academic background in history D. commit to working three shifts at weekends 41. The author writes this passage mainly to__________. A. introduce volunteer programs for teenagers B. provide special tours to meet different needs C. invite people to visit the American History Museum D. attract potential applicants for Museum Ambassadors 【答案】39. C 40. A 41. D 【解析】 【分析】这是一篇应用文。文章主要通过介绍博物馆大使这个志愿者工作,来吸引有意申请博物馆大使的人士。 【详解】1.细节理解题。根据第二段中的“Each year, our Museum Ambassadors help over 100,000 people get the most out of their visits by welcoming groups, circulating throughout the museum's public zones to answer basic questions, and directing visitors to programs and exhibitions of interest.(每年,我们的博物馆大使所做的是欢迎游客,在博物馆的公共区域巡回且回答游客的基本问题,并引导参观者参观感兴趣的项目和展览,通过做这些,我们的博物馆大使帮助了超过10万人,使他们在自己的旅游参观中有最大的收获。)”可知,博物馆大使的职责之一就是引导游客参观他们感兴趣的展览。故选C。 2.细节理解题。根据If you have…部分“•strong interpersonal and communication skills.•an interest in history and communication. (较强的人际交往和沟通能力。对历史和沟通有兴趣。)”可知,一个合格的博物馆大使应该是喜欢与人交流和沟通,A项“enjoy communicating with people (喜欢和人交流)”符合,B项“speak at least two foreign languages (至少会说两种外语)”文中没有提到,C项“have academic background in history (具有历史学术背景)”文中也没有提到,文中只提到对历史感兴趣,所以C不对;根据If you can…部分中“twice a month (weekend Ambassadors). (一月两次换班(周末大使))”可知,D选项“commit to working three shifts at weekends (承诺周末三班倒)”不符,故选A。 3.推理判断题。通读全文可知,文章第一段主要介绍了成为博物馆大使,可以在美国历史博物馆做志愿者。第二段主要介绍了博物馆大使的职责。第三段介绍了成为博物馆大使的一些好处。接着文章从申请人的意愿,条件,要求,申请等几个方面介绍博物馆大使的工作。所以可以得知,文章主要目的是为了吸引有意申请博物馆大使的人士,故选D。 B When I wrote my first book three years ago, the words came naturally. Eight weeks of even rhythm (节奏) and it was finished with ease. So when I sat down to write my second book, I expected the same effortless flow. Instead, I found myself staring at a blinking (闪烁的) typing line that seemed to flash with quiet accusation. I couldn’t begin. Day after day, I repeated the same routines: I set up the perfect workspace, blocked out hours for writing, and reread old pages that had once made me proud. None of it helped. For a while, I blamed myself, mistaking my procrastination (拖延) for laziness or lack of discipline. Still, the familiar motions kept me occupied while the work itself remained still. Eventually, exhaustion softened my stress, and I stopped pushing. What if the resistance was trying to tell me something? I opened my journal and started writing — not about the book, but about why I couldn’t write it. The truth that poured out was simple and childlike: What if this book isn’t as good as the first? What if readers decide a woman like me has already said everything she knows? Beneath the delay, I found fear — not of the work, but of judgment. Procrastination had become a safety net; staying still meant avoiding being seen and possibly found lacking. So I tried something different. I set a timer for five minutes and wrote whatever came. A sentence, half an idea, a small whisper of a scene. My hand moved first, and my mind followed. Piece by piece, those small beginnings grew into the book I had been afraid to start. By the time I finished, I saw procrastination differently. It was never merely delay. It was a quiet dialogue between the part of me that wants to try and the part that fears the fall. What I once called wasted time was, in truth, the stillness before courage — the quiet reward of writing. 42. Why did the author keep following the same routines? A. To look for creative inspiration. B. To overcome her procrastination. C. To gain a false sense of progress. D. To improve her writing technique. 43. What actually prevented the author from writing? A. Lack of new ideas. B. Pursuit of perfection. C. Desire for social fame. D. Concern over disapproval. 44. How did the author manage to restart her writing? A. By taking one step at a time. B. By focusing on small details. C. By reflecting on the outcome. D. By following a flexible schedule. 45. What message does the author seem to deliver in the last paragraph? A. Courage helps fight against fear. B. Stillness can be part of creativity. C. Procrastination is a waste of time. D. Writers should avoid taking breaks. 【答案】42. C 43. D 44. A 45. B 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。主要讲述了作者在写第二本书时遇到拖延问题,最终克服并重新认识拖延的故事。 【42题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段中“For a while, I blamed myself, mistaking my procrastination (拖延) for laziness or lack of discipline. Still, the familiar motions kept me occupied while the work itself remained still.(有一段时间,我责怪自己,把拖延误认为是懒惰或缺乏纪律。尽管如此,熟悉的动作让我忙碌起来,而工作本身却依然停滞不前)”可知,作者不断重复相同的日常是为了获得一种虚假的进步感,让自己忙碌起来。故选C。 【43题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“Beneath the delay, I found fear — not of the work, but of judgment. Procrastination had become a safety net; staying still meant avoiding being seen and possibly found lacking.(在拖延的背后,我发现了恐惧——不是对工作的恐惧,而是对评判的恐惧。拖延已经成为一个安全网;静止不动意味着避免被看到,并可能被发现有所欠缺)”可知,实际上阻止作者写作的是对不被认可的担忧。故选D。 【44题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段中“I set a timer for five minutes and wrote whatever came. A sentence, half an idea, a small whisper of a scene. My hand moved first, and my mind followed. Piece by piece, those small beginnings grew into the book I had been afraid to start.(我设定了一个五分钟的计时器,写下任何想到的东西。一个句子,半个想法,一个场景的轻声细语。我的手先动了,我的思想也跟着动了。一块一块地,这些小小的开始逐渐变成了我害怕开始的那本书)”可知,作者通过一次迈出一步(设定五分钟计时器,写下任何想到的东西)的方式重新开始了写作。故选A。 【45题详解】 主旨大意题。根据最后一段中“What I once called wasted time was, in truth, the stillness before courage — the quiet reward of writing.(我曾经称之为浪费时间的东西,实际上是勇气之前的宁静——写作的安静回报)”可知,作者在最后一段似乎要传达的信息是:静止可以是创造力的一部分。故选B。 C The word “robot” was coined in 1920 by the Czech playwright Karel Capek meaning fully functional servants. For most of their history, robots have been inelegant mechanical devices sitting out of sight in factories. Things are starting to change, however. Robots are leaving carefully managed industrial settings for everyday life and, in the coming years, will increasingly work in supermarkets, clinics, social care and much more. They could not be coming at a better time. Many industries are facing a shortage of labor — the demand for workers has recovered much faster than expected and some people have left the workforce, particularly in America. Warehousing (仓库) has grown rapidly thanks to the e-commerce boom. Robots are picking items off shelves and helping people pack a rising numbers of boxes. They are even beginning to move slowly along some pavements, delivering goods or food right to people’s doors. Nowadays, short of workers but with lots of elderly folk to look after, having more robots to boost productivity would be a good thing. And yet many people fear that robots will destroy jobs. A paper in 2013 by economists at Oxford University was widely misinterpreted as meaning that 47% of American jobs were at risk of being automated. In fact, concerns about mass unemployment are overblown. The evidence suggests robots will be ultimately beneficial for labor markets. Japan and South Korea have the highest robot usage rate but very strong workforces. A Yale University study that looked at Japanese manufacturing between 1978 and 2017 found that an increase of one robot unit per 1,000 workers boosted a company’s employment by 2.2%. Research from the Bank of Korea found that robotization moved jobs away from manufacturing into other sectors, but that there was no decrease in overall vacancies. For all that, the march of the robots will bring big changes to workplaces, too. One supposed example of “bad automation” is self-service checkouts in supermarkets, because they displace human workers. But robots could perform unpleasant work. Checkout staff who retrain to help customers pick items from aisles (传送带) may find that dealing with people in need is more rewarding than spending all day swiping barcodes in front of lasers. In addition, as jobs change, workers should be helped to acquire new skills, including how to work with and manage the robots that will increasingly be their colleagues. The potential gains from the robot revolution are huge. In Capek’s play, the robots revolt(反抗)against their human masters and cause mass unemployment and worse. However, the beginnings of the world’s real robots have not matched Capek’s assumption. So there is no need to concern about their future. 46. The author mentions the two researches in paragraph 4 to ____________. A. prove an argument B. introduce an approach C. present an assumption D. highlight an experiment 47. What can we infer from the passage? A. New skills will be acquired by workers with the help of robots. B. The more robots are used, the greater employment it can bring. C. Robots will betray their human masters and cause worse problems. D. Checkout staff in supermarkets may be happier to do with people in need. 48. Towards wide spread of robots, the author is ____________. A. approved B. neutral C. opposed D. doubtful 49. What’s the best title of the passage? A. Future Risk: Jobs Being Automated B. Robot Revolution: Causes of Changes C. Workplace Automation: Rise of Robots D. Robotization: Solution to Unemployment 【答案】46. A 47. D 48. A 49. C 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章讲述了机器人进入日常生活后给人们带来的便利以及由此人们出现的担忧。 【46题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段“In fact, concerns about mass unemployment are overblown. The evidence suggests robots will be ultimately beneficial for labor markets. Japan and South Korea have the highest robot usage rate but very strong workforces.(事实上,对大规模失业的担忧被夸大了。有证据表明,机器人最终将有利于劳动力市场。日本和韩国的机器人使用率最高,但劳动力非常强大。)”可知,作者在第四段段首首先提出自己的观点,然后紧接着用耶鲁大学和韩国银行研究人员提供的数据支持了这一观点。故选A。 【47题详解】 推理判断题。根据倒数第二段“One supposed example of “bad automation” is self-service checkouts in supermarkets, because they displace human workers. But robots could perform unpleasant work. Checkout staff who retrain to help customers pick items from aisles(传送带)may find that dealing with people in need is more rewarding than spending all day swiping barcodes in front of lasers.(超市的自助结账是一个糟糕的自动化的例子,因为它们取代了人力。但是机器人可能会做出做令人不快的表现。收银员人员经过再培训,帮助客户从传送带拿取商品,他们发现帮助需要帮助的人比只是单纯的在扫描仪扫码结账更能感觉到自己的努力有所回报)”可知,收银人员更愿意与人打交道,更愿意帮助人。故选D。 【48题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段第一句“They could not be coming at a better time.(他们来得正是时候。)”,第四段“In fact, concerns about mass unemployment are overblown.(事实上,对大规模失业的担忧被夸大了。)”以及最后一段“The potential gains from the robot revolution are huge.(机器人革命带来的潜在收益是巨大的。)”可知,机器人进入生活以来,对于失业率的影响被夸大了,实际上给人类带来的收益的是巨大的,所以作者对机器人的大规模使用是认可的。故选A。 【49题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第一段中“however. Robots are leaving carefully managed industrial settings for everyday life and, in the coming years, will increasingly work in supermarkets, clinics, social care and much more.(然而机器人正在离开精心管理的工业环境,进入日常生活。在未来几年,机器人将越来越多地在超市、诊所、社会护理等领域工作。)”和最后一段“The potential gains from the robot revolution are huge. In Capek’s play, the robots revolt(反抗)against their human masters and cause mass unemployment and worse. However, the beginnings of the world’s real robots have not matched Capek’s assumption. So there is no need to concern about their future.(机器人革命带来的潜在收益是巨大的。恰佩克的假设中,机器人对抗人类并导致大规模失业。然而,世界上真正的机器人的诞生并不符合恰佩克的假设。所以没有必要担心他们的未来)”可知,本文主要讲述机器人在日常生活中的使用变多。故选C。 D Millions watch the Oscars every year, but I'm always interested in the Razzies (金酸梅奖), which recognize cinematic underachievement. For all the attention given to what we like, what we dislike can be just as important, interesting and empowering. French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu saw dislike as snobbery. He saw all judgments of taste, favorable or not, as performances of class. The rich could justify their place, he argued, by claiming to have more refined tastes. Knowing which literature or art to praise could signal to. others their rightful place at the top of society. Oversimplified his theory might be, it is not entirely wrong. Furthermore, dislikes are often used as a way not to stand apart but to fit in. It means learning the unspoken rules of what's OK to like or dislike, and to proclaim those likes or dislikes loudly for others to hear. When some of us swim against the social tide, we might be savvy (精明的) enough to label our likes as “guilty pleasures”, which both acknowledges the rules and apologizes for violating them. In my research, though, I found that dislike isn't just a form of snobbery. We interviewed over 200 people, a diverse group in race, age, and social class. All the interviewees tended to actively dislike media content far more when they felt they couldn't escape it. Many people can't choose the radio station that's playing at work, or what's on TV at the bar. Moreover, some of us are subjected to more annoyance than others. Remote controls, for instance, have long been seen as a special right of dads, with women and kids given less power to change the channel. Everyone turns to media hoping for specific needs to be met, but those who have those needs realized less often are those who might dislike more often. Therefore, speaking about dislikes is an act of resistance — a refusal to allow public space to be conquered by the media content that doesn't connect. Dislike can certainly transform into anger or hate, but it may also take a more playful form. Sometimes we could see people joyfully watch the object of their dislike and offer a commentary of criticism, instead of tuning out and turning off. Why? Reveling in dislike can help regain control in a world that overwhelms everyone with content. Keeping the despised shows at hand rather than avoiding them can help the dislikers speak up in the court of public opinion. Or some might enjoy their dislikes as a way to avoid ruining certain relationships. Many of us can probably relate to the experience of having a friend who insists we watch something against our will. What if, rather than resenting the show or the person, we simply embrace it in all of its embarrassing glory? By all means, pay attention to the advice to “ignore the haters”. But a lot can be learned by listening to the dislikers. 50. According to Paragraph 3, people label their likes as “guilty pleasures” when they_________. A. follow the mainstream B. take pride in their taste C. set up the unspoken rules D. try to fit into a certain group 51. What can we learn from the passage? A. Dislikes can he found mostly among the rich. B. Learning about literature and art is an act of snobbery. C. Expressing dislike helps maintain one's social relationships. D. Exposure to unwanted media content intensifies people's dislike. 52. What does the underlined phrase "Reveling in" in the text probably mean? A. Taking delight in. B. Showing concern for. C. Drawing lessons from. D. Establishing connection to. 53. What message does the author try to convey in this passage? A. We are encouraged to launch debates over hot issues in public. B. Staying away from the haters is a sensible means to avoid trouble. C. Embracing our dislikes can be a way to deal with power imbalance. D. The media should aim to meet the needs of different groups of audience. 【答案】50. D 51. D 52. A 53. C 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇议论文。文章作者主要讨论了我们所不喜欢的也很重要,而接受我们不喜欢的东西是一种处理权力不平衡的方法。 【50题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第三段“Furthermore, dislikes are often used as a way not to stand apart but to fit in. It means learning the unspoken rules of what's OK to like or dislike, and to proclaim those likes or dislikes loudly for others to hear. When some of us swim against the social tide, we might be savvy(精明的)enough to label our likes as "guilty pleasures", which both acknowledges the rules and apologizes for violating them.(此外,不喜欢经常被用来作为一种方式,而不是与众不同,而是融入。它意味着学习那些可以喜欢或不喜欢的潜规则,并大声说出那些喜欢或不喜欢的东西让别人听到。当我们中的一些人与社会潮流背道而驰时,我们可能足够聪明,将自己的喜好贴上“罪恶的快乐”的标签,这既承认了规则,也为违反了规则而道歉。)”可知,当人们试图融入某个群体时,他们会将自己的喜好贴上“罪恶的快乐”的标签。故选D。 【51题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章第五段“All the interviewees tended to actively dislike media content far more when they felt they couldn't escape it. (当受访者觉得无法逃避时,他们更倾向于主动地不喜欢媒体内容。)”和“Moreover, some of us are subjected to more annoyance than others.(此外,我们中的一些人比其他人遭受更多的烦恼。)”可推断,接触在不需要的媒体内容中会加剧人们的反感。故选D。 【52题详解】 词句猜测题。根据划线词后文“Keeping the despised shows at hand rather than avoiding them can help the dislikers speak up in the court of public opinion. Or some might enjoy their dislikes as a way to avoid ruining certain relationships. (保留那些受人鄙视的节目,而不是避开它们,可以帮助那些不喜欢的人在公众舆论的法庭上畅所欲言。或者有些人可能喜欢他们不喜欢的东西,以此来避免破坏某些关系。)”可知,在一个让每个人都感到满足的世界里,着迷于不喜欢可以帮助你重新获得控制权。所以Reveling in为“深爱;酷爱;着迷”之意。故选A。 【53题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章第一段“For all the attention given to what we like, what we dislike can be just as important, interesting and empowering. (对于我们所喜欢的事物所给予的所有关注,我们不喜欢的事物也可以同样重要、有趣和有力量。)”和第六段“Therefore, speaking about dislikes is an act of resistance—a refusal to allow public space to be conquered by the media content that doesn't connect.(因此,谈论不喜欢是一种反抗的行为——拒绝让公共空间被不相连的媒体内容所征服。)”可推断,作者试图在这篇文章中传达“接受我们不喜欢的东西是一种处理权力不平衡的方法”这一观点。故选C。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,共10分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的七个选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。选项中有两项为多余选项。 The world is full of distractions. Unfortunately, the world also requires us to work. Coping with the first while still doing enough of the second is … sorry, where am I? Ah, yes, the world is full of distractions. If you work in an office, it might be emails, phone calls or colleagues with questions to ask. If you are at home, it might be the contents of the fridge or a sudden fixation on dust mites (尘螨) under the sofa. Sometimes it takes even less. If you are sitting and doing work and someone near you says something particularly interesting, that can pull your focus. ___54___ So, how can we stay focused in our wandering minds? ____55____ And put your smartphone and other irrelevant screens away—they attract our attention even if they are off. If you tend to pop on headphones and use music to shut out distractions, avoid listening to anything familiar. Knowing the words or tune well will distract you even more. ___56___ If you are doing something repetitive like stuffing envelopes or laying bricks, being distracted by listening to music or a podcast or engaging in a conversation with a co-worker can ultimately boost productivity. ____57____ Jihae Shin, now at the university of Wisconsin-Madison, has found that when people played Minesweeper for five minutes before coming up with new business ideas, they were more creative than those who didn’t play. ___58___ In general, this is the enemy of productivity: it encourages mistakes, stops us from completing things, promotes forgetfulness and lowers the quality of writing. But when we are trying to come up with creative solutions, task-switching distractions can help prevent "cognitive fixation" on ineffective approaches. So if you are a creative type, try lining up two or more tasks and spend your day switching between them. Or if that doesn’t work, just go play with your phone. A. Not all distractions are bad, however. B. Switching between tasks can also help. C. Creativity can benefit from distraction too. D. Switching off email or messaging services helps. E. But you are not good at dealing with distractions. F. If you have trouble concentrating, I suggest you try the following ideas. G. If you are not careful, you will end up your day with nothing accomplished. 【答案】54. G 55. D 56. A 57. C 58. If you are at home, it might be the contents of the fridge or a sudden fixation on dust mites under the sofa. Sometimes it takes even less. If you are sitting and doing work and someone near you says something particularly interesting, that can pull your focus. And put your smartphone and other irrelevant screens away—they attract our attention even if they are off.可知把你的智能手机和其他不相关的屏幕放在一边——即使它们处于关闭状态,它们也会吸引我们的注意力。由此可知,此处是在说明关闭有网络通讯的电子产品或将这些产品放在一边,能够有助于在走神的时候保持专注。故D选项“关闭电子邮件或信息服务会有所帮助”符合上下文语境,故选D。 【56题详解】 根据后文If you are doing something repetitive like stuffing envelopes or laying bricks, being distracted by listening to music or a podcast or engaging in a conversation with a co-worker can ultimately boost productivity.可知如果你在做一些重复性的事情,比如装信封或砌砖,那么听音乐、听播客或和同事聊天会让你分心,这最终会提高工作效率。由此可知,此处是在说明并不是所有的分心都是不好的,有些分心会提高工作效率。故A选项“然而,并不是所有的分心都是不好的”符合上下文语境,故选A。 【57题详解】 根据后文Jihae Shin, now at the university of Wisconsin-Madison, has found that when people played Minesweeper for five minutes before coming up with new business ideas, they were more creative than those who didn’t play.可知威斯康星大学麦迪逊分校的Jihae Shin发现,当人们在想出新商业点子前玩《扫雷》五分钟时,他们比不玩的人更有创造力。由此可知,分散注意力对创造力也有好处。后文中creative“创造性的”可对应到C选项中Creativity“创造力”。故C选项“分散注意力对创造力也有好处”符合上下文语境,故选C。 【58题详解】 根据后文But when we are trying to come up with creative solutions, task-switching distractions can help prevent "cognitive fixation" on ineffective approaches. So if you are a creative type, try lining up two or more tasks and spend your day switching between them. You might not have heard of the "fresh start effect”, but if you've ever made a New Year's resolution, you're familiar with it. It refers to the human tendency to take action towards achieving a goal after a special occasion or key date has passed. The fresh start effect is simple. Most people want to improve themselves in some way. When we hit important milestones, we're often likely to reflect: are we where we thought we'd be by a certain age? Was this year a successful year, or did we waste it? Annual landmarks like birthdays, or the start of a new year, signify a new time period and an opportunity to leave slip-ups behind and to set new goals for better behavior. Research shows that anticipation of a new beginning is a key motivator for the fresh start effect. For example, people aged 29, 39, 49 etc. were 48% more likely to run a marathon for the first time. When they were approaching a new decade, they were more likely to search for meaning in their lives and try to improve themselves. The reason is simple. When we see our past self as separate from our current self, we feel it easier to introduce new goals and take action. What's interesting about the fresh start effect is that we don't need to wait for big milestones to take advantage of this sudden dose of motivation. Studies show that the first day of each month and even each week can also inspire us. These days, known as temporal landmarks”, encourage us to step back and evaluate our current situation. And when we do this, we gain the motivation to be better: we become more driven and more productive. That is why people are more likely to stall diets or exercise plans on Monday, rather than the next day. Fresh starts are exciting opportunities to learn from your mistakes and move forward. So if you're currently experiencing loss of motivation, questioning the meaning of your work, or just feel like you're stuck in a rut, why don't you use the fresh start effect in your own life? 59. According to the passage, what is "fresh start effect"? 60. Why is it that anticipation of a new beginning is a key motivator for the fresh start effect? 61. Please decide which part is false in the following statement, then underline it and explain why. > A fresh start like the first day of each week is a time when we forget about our mistakes and move forward. 62. Besides the fresh start effect, in what other ways do you motivate yourself in your life? (In about 40 words) 【答案】59. It refers to the human tendency to take action towards achieving a goal after a special occasion or key date has passed. 60. Because it is easier to introduce new goals and take action. 61. We're also traffic cops when elevators and escalators break and extra eyes for museum security." The author writes this passage mainly to__________. A. introduce volunteer programs for teenagers B. provide special tours to meet different needs C. invite people to visit the American History Museum D. attract potential applicants for Museum Ambassadors B When I wrote my first book three years ago, the words came naturally. C The word “robot” was coined in 1920 by the Czech playwright Karel Capek meaning fully functional servants. Robotization: Solution to Unemployment D Millions watch the Oscars every year, but I'm always interested in the Razzies (金酸梅奖), which recognize cinematic underachievement. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,共10分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的七个选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。选项中有两项为多余选项。 The world is full of distractions. 第三部分 书面表达(共两节,32分) 第一节(共4小题;第64、65题各2分,第66题3分,第64题5分,共12分) 阅读下面短文,根据题目要求用英文回答问题。 You might not have heard of the "fresh start effect”, but if you've ever made a New Year's resolution, you're familiar with it. 59.
