The Power of a Healthy Breakfast. Do you sometimes leave home without breakfast to get more sleep or hurry to school? Many students do, but eating a good morning meal is one of the smartest choices you can make for your day.

Think of your body like a car. After a long night’s sleep, your fuel tank (油箱) is empty. Breakfast is the fuel that gets your engine (发动机) started! It gives you the energy to focus in class, remember what you learn, and play sports with your friends. Without it, you might feel tired, hungry, and unable to focus.

So, what makes a healthy breakfast? A great one has three simple parts:

①Energy Food: Like bread or biscuits. They give you long-lasting energy.

②Power Food: Like eggs, milk, or nuts (坚果). They help your muscles (肌肉) grow strong.

③Fresh Food: Like an apple, a banana, or some strawberries. They give your body important vitamins (维生素).

Making time for breakfast is a healthy habit. Just 10 — 15 minutes can make a big difference in your whole day. Do not skip (跳过) breakfast, start your morning right, your body and your brain will thank you!

5. What does the writer compare your body to?

A. A phone battery. B. A car. C. A fuel tank. D. An engine.

6. Why is breakfast important according to the text?

My Project: Learn and Protect Against Natural Disasters

My name is Li Ming. I am in Grade 8. Last month, our English teacher asked us to do a Project called “Learn and Protect Against Natural Disasters”. Our goal was to find out useful safety tips for natural disasters and share them with our classmates to help everyone keep safe.

At first, I knew little about how to protect myself during floods or storms. For the Project, I joined a group of four classmates. We searched for safety information online, read disaster safety books and even asked a rescue worker for advice. We found that staying calm and preparing emergency supplies in advance are the most important things when facing natural disasters.

We also interviewed our neighbors about their experiences of dealing with small storms. Many of them told us that they used to be nervous during disasters, but now they know how to stay safe by following safety tips. We page number 1

When we showed our video to the class, our teacher and classmates praised us. She said our Project was practical and helpful. Liaoning Provincial Museum (省博物馆) is a fun place for many students. They love to go there. Why? Let’s find out.

Many schools cooperate with the museum. “About 100 schools bring their students here to have classes. Reciting poems (背诵诗歌) is often boring and difficult for students. To make it easy and fun, we give talks about poems and make shows to tell the stories of poets (诗人) like Li Bai, Du Fu, and Lu You. We also teach students to write calligraphy (书法),” says Dong, a man from the museum.

Interestingly, the museum makes plays about those poets and asks students to act in them. Students recite poems in the plays and get to experience the lives of the poets.

The museum also cares about village students. It gives shows about the poets on a bus. The bus is like a moving (移动的) museum and it goes to villages far from the museum.

The museum brings history to students’ lives and makes it so fun. That’s why students have a great love for the museum.

13. What does the word “cooperate” probably mean in Paragraph 2?

A. Have fun. B. Work together. C. Make friends. D. Take a walk.

14. What can students do in the museum?

①Give talks about poems.  ②Watch shows about the poets.page number 2
