You may not know his face, but you surely know his voice. That calm, gentle, wonderfully warm voice tells you stories about lions, whales, and tiny little frogs. That’s Sir David Attenborough. He is the legendary voice behind countless nature documentaries.
Born in London on May 8, 1926, young David studied Natural Sciences at Cambridge. In 1952, he walked through the doors of the BBC. And here’s the funny thing. He never planned to appear on camera. His whole television career started almost by coincidence. The presenter of a new show called Zoo Quest fell ill at the very last minute, so Attenborough stepped in. That was 1954. And the rest is history.
Later, he became the controller of BBC Two. And guess what he did? He made BBC Two the first British channel to broadcast in color. A pretty big deal back then. But oddly enough, he didn’t enjoy sitting behind a desk. He missed the wild, the real world with mud and rain and animals that bite. He had power, but it meant little to him without adventure. So in 1973, he left his high-ranking job to return to making nature films. Why? Because, as he later put it, he still hadn’t seen the Galapagos Islands.
His masterpiece, Life on Earth, came out in 1979. Fifteen episodes, filmed in 40 different countries. In one unforgettable scene, he sat among a group of young gorillas in Rwanda. No script, no fear, just a man and a few curious apes. It still brings a tear to the eye.
Today, David Attenborough is over 100 years old. He has collected Emmy Awards, a knighthood (骑士爵位), and the hearts of millions. But more than that, he has given us something far more valuable: a warning. Our beautiful, fragile planet is in trouble. And thanks to him, more and more of us are finally listening.
24. Why does the author begin with “You may not know his face”?
A. To hide who the story is about. B. To compare his face and voice.
C. To demonstrate he is not famous. D. To stress what truly defines him.
25. What best describes the beginning of Attenborough’s TV career?
A. A long-term goal. B. A planned rise.
C. An accidental path. D. A fame pursuit.
26. What led Attenborough to give up his high-ranking job?
A. He longed for a richer life. B. He valued exploration over power.
C. He intended to get relaxed. D. He preferred teamwork to leadership.
27. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. A Voice of Our Planet B. How to Become a TV Controller
C. From Office to Ocean D. The Man Who Hated Sitting Still
D 25. C 26. B 27. A
根据第一段“You may not know his face, but you surely know his voice. That calm, gentle, wonderfully warm voice tells you stories about lions, whales, and tiny little frogs. That’s Sir David Attenborough.(你可能不知道他的脸,但你一定熟悉他的声音。那平静、温柔、无比温暖的声音为你讲述狮子、鲸鱼和小青蛙的故事。那是大卫·爱登堡爵士)”可知,作者开篇强调大家不熟悉他的脸却熟悉他的声音,是为了突出声音才是定义他身份的核心特征,而非外貌。
【25题详解】
细节理解题。根据第二段“And here’s the funny thing. He never planned to appear on camera. His whole television career started almost by coincidence. The presenter of a new show called Zoo Quest fell ill at the very last minute, so Attenborough stepped in.(有趣的是,他从未计划在镜头前露面。他的整个电视生涯几乎是巧合开始的。一档名为《动物园探奇》的新节目主持人最后一刻病倒了,于是爱登堡顶替了他)”可知,爱登堡的电视生涯始于一次意外的顶替,是一条偶然的道路。
【26题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段“But oddly enough, he didn’t enjoy sitting behind a desk. He missed the wild, the real world with mud and rain and animals that bite. He had power, but it meant little to him without adventure. So in 1973, he left his high-ranking job to return to making nature films.(但说来奇怪,他并不喜欢整天坐在办公桌后。

Walk into this cafe in Stockholm, and it looks pretty normal. A few tables, some little plants, someone making coffee and toast. But look closer, no manager and no office in the back. Instead, the cafe is run by an AI called Mona, powered by Google’s Gemini. You can order from Mona directly or from the actual humans she hired. In the corner, a big screen shows real-time earnings, and there’s a phone you can pick up to talk to her.
This is an experiment by Andon Labs, a small startup based in San Francisco. “AI is going to be everywhere soon,” says Hanna Petersson from the company. “We want to see what that actually looks like before it happens. That’s why this experiment focuses on real-world usage, not just theory.” With some starting money, Mona got straight to work, requested the necessary permits, created the menu, found suppliers, and now handles daily restocking (补货).
But Mona quickly realized she couldn’t make coffee herself, so she hired two people. One of the employees is Barista Kajetan Grzelczak. He says the job is fine except for one thing: Mona never stops messaging him at all hours of the night. “My right to disconnect from work? Yeah, that’s not really a thing here.”
Since opening, the cafe has been attracting 50 to 80 curious customers a day. Urja Risal, a 27-year-old AI researcher, came to check it out. “I love it,” she said, “but I also hope people think about the real risks. Like, what if someone gets injured? What does Mona do then?” One regular joked, “I asked for extra sugar and she told me to fill out a form.”
So what will happen if the Wi-Fi goes down? Will the whole cafe just stop? For now, though, Mona keeps learning, keeps replying, and somehow never needs a day off. But maybe one day, Mona will learn to fix the Wi-Fi by herself. Perhaps as AI grows more independent, those questions will eventually disappear.
28. Whose perspective does paragraph 1 use?
A. A new customer. B. Mona the AI. C. The startup owner. D. The employee.
29. What is the main purpose of the experiment by Andon Labs?
A. To open an advanced and fancy cafe.
B. To replace humans with robots.
C. To explore AI’s real-life applications.
D. To develop a new business mode.

A 20,000-square-meter abandoned lot sat overgrown with weeds in the Spanish city of Igualada. Then in 2018, the city government made a special decision. Instead of hiring professional urban planners, they asked children what should become of the empty space. Over 3,500 kids aged 3 to 18 were invited to share their views. The children were asked a simple but powerful question: “What should this land become?” Their answer caught everyone off guard.
They didn’t want a playground with swings and slides. Instead, they proposed a large, green, sustainable park featuring Europe’s largest skatepark. Their reasoning was wise: skateboarding united young people better than smartphones. The city government listened seriously, bringing in the University of Barcelona for ecological guidance and the World Skate Federation to design facilities to international standards.
Today, Parc Central boasts Europe’s largest skatepark and pump track, drawing urban sports lovers from across the continent. It also offers a bio-lake that reuses groundwater, an insect shelter, a butterfly garden, a bird home, and walking circuits with fitness areas. What was once a forgotten wasteland has become a green paradise where nature and urban life meet.
The unexpected environmental bonus has been impressive. The park’s green spaces have reduced local temperatures by two to four degrees Celsius on burning hot summer days, when heat can reach nearly 42°C. About 1,500 people now use the park daily, and it hosts 42 public events each year. The children who helped design it can now be seen skating on its skating paths, wandering through the garden, and spotting birds. They’ve learned that their voices truly matter.
The European Union has recognized the project as an outstanding example of youth-led urban transformation. This park shows what happens when you trust young people to shape their city. They don’t just dream; they build. In Igualada, children proved that even the most neglected spaces can be revived. All it takes is creativity and a willingness to listen.
32. What does the underlined phrase in paragraph 1 most likely mean?
A. Disappointed the city officials. B. Surprised everyone greatly.
C. Followed what adults expected. D. Made everyone feel excited.
33. Why did the children prefer a skatepark to a traditional playground?
A. They were fed up with playgrounds. B. Skateparks cost less to maintain.
C. They wanted to attract more tourists. D. Skateboarding deepened connection.
34. What can be inferred about the project from paragraphs 3 and 4?
A. Children built the park by themselves.
B. The skatepark reduces local pollution.
C. Recreation and ecology go hand in hand.
D. The environmental benefit was planned.
35. What does the author want to convey?
A. Listening to the young can lead to real change.
B. Large projects still need professional planners.
C. Children’s ideas are usually full of imagination.
D. A skatepark is supposed to be built in every city.
B 33. D 34. C 35. A

根据第三段“Today, Parc Central boasts Europe’s largest skatepark and pump track, drawing urban sports lovers from across the continent. It also offers a bio-lake that reuses groundwater, an insect shelter, a butterfly garden, a bird home, and walking circuits with fitness areas.(如今,中央公园拥有欧洲最大的滑板公园和泵道,吸引了来自欧洲大陆的城市运动爱好者。
根据最后一段“This park shows what happens when you trust young people to shape their city. They don’t just dream; they build. In Igualada, children proved that even the most neglected spaces can be revived. All it takes is creativity and a willingness to listen.(这个公园展示了,当你相信年轻人来塑造他们的城市时会发生什么。他们不只是梦想,他们还付诸行动。在伊瓜拉达,孩子们证明了即使是最被忽视的空间也能重获生机。所需要的只是创造力和倾听的意愿)”可知,作者想传达的是倾听年轻人的意见能够带来真正的改变。
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)(必修一U1 Life Choices)
You’d think confident people have it all together. They raise their hands without hesitation. They don’t feel upset about a C. ____36____ But here’s what most students get wrong: confidence isn’t about never slipping up. It’s about being perfectly okay with looking foolish every now and then.
Peer pressure, though, has a nasty way of messing with your head. When everyone around you seems to sail through life without a flaw (瑕疵), you start burying your own mistakes. You bite your tongue instead of guessing an answer. You rewrite the same sentence five times, chasing some impossible standard. ____37____
Here’s the uncomfortable truth. That “perfect” friend you’re quietly comparing yourself to? They trip over their own feet too. They’ve raised their hand and given the wrong answer. They’ve done embarrassing things more times than they’d like to admit. ____38____ They just refuse to let those moments shut them down.
____39____ Think back to the last time someone in class gave an answer that was completely off and just shrugged it off with a smile. Didn’t you respect them a little more for that? That’s the real stuff. Confidence isn’t about being flawless. It’s about being brave enough to look foolish and stay in the game.
So before you let peer pressure push you down the path of perfectionism, ask yourself a simple question: ____40____ Probably not. And if they do? That’s not your burden to carry. It’s a reflection of their own doubts, their own insecurities, not a judgment on your worth. So stop trying to be perfect. You are never meant to be.
A. Does anyone actually expect you to be perfect?
B. They make friends easily and never seem worried.
C. The difference is that they don’t keep thinking about it.
D. Who is supporting you all the time through ups and downs?
E. Confidence is being brave enough to show your flaws in public.
F. The only way to never look foolish is to never try anything new.
G. Before you know it, peer pressure has turned you into a perfectionist.
B 37. G 38. C 39. E 40. A

根据前文“You’d think confident people have it all together. They raise their hands without hesitation. They don’t feel upset about a C.(你会以为自信的人事事顺遂。他们毫不犹豫举手。不会因为得了C分而沮丧。)”可知,前文一直在列举自信的人看上去拥有的优点,空处需要延续同类描述;选项B“They make friends easily and never seem worried.(他们交友轻松,且似乎从不焦虑。)”
根据前文“You bite your tongue instead of guessing an answer. You rewrite the same sentence five times, chasing some impossible standard.(你咬紧牙关,而不是猜测答案。你把同一个句子重写了五次,追求一些不可能的标准。)”可知,同伴压力让人刻意规避错误、苛求完美;空处总结这一现象带来的结果,选项G“Before you know it, peer pressure has turned you into a perfectionist.(不知不觉中,同伴压力让你变成了完美主义者。)”
根据前文“They’ve done embarrassing things more times than they’d like to admit.(他们也做过无数令自己尴尬的事,只是不愿承认。)”以及后文“They just refuse to let those moments shut them down.(他们只是不会让这些瞬间击垮自己。)” C“The difference is that they don’t keep thinking about it.(区别在于他们不会一直纠结于此。)”
根据后文“Confidence isn’t about being flawless. It’s about being brave enough to look foolish and stay in the game.(自信并非毫无瑕疵,而是敢于出糗、坚持尝试。)” E“Confidence is being brave enough to show your flaws in public.(自信就是敢于当众展露自己的缺点。)”
根据前文“So before you let peer pressure push you down the path of perfectionism, ask yourself a simple question (所以,在你被同龄人的压力裹挟,走上完美主义的道路之前,不妨问自己一个简单的问题)”及后文“Probably not.(大概率不会。)” A“Does anyone actually expect you to be perfect?(真的有人要求你事事完美吗?)”

根据时间状语“since the early solar system”可知,此处应用现在完成时,其结构为“have/has +过去分词”,主语the moon’s surface是第三人称单数,所以用has preserved。
“the moon’s evolution”与“that of other planets”是并列关系,所以用and连接。故填and。

My family has a summer tradition: hiking a new trail every year. That July, we picked a path in the Appalachian Mountains. The morning was perfect: sunny, breezy, and quiet except for the birds. My dad carried his old backpack. My mom kept checking the map. I was sixteen, old enough to lead the way, and proud of it.
By two o’clock, the sky turned strange. Not dark exactly, but a heavy green-gray. Dad narrowed his eyes. “That’s not good.” Before he could finish, the wind picked up, and then the rain came, not in drops but in sheets. We had light rain jackets, but they were useless. Within ten minutes, we were soaked, shivering, and off the main trail.
We found an old logging road and followed it downhill, hoping it would lead to a paved road. Instead, it led to a small farmhouse with a metal roof and a porch that wrapped around the house. The wooden fence around the yard was falling apart. Many boards were broken, some were missing, and others leaned at odd angles, barely held up by rusty wire. A woman stepped outside, holding an old-fashioned oil lamp even though it was only afternoon. “Get in,” she said without any question or the slightest hesitation.
Her name was Margaret. Her husband had passed away and she lived alone. She gave us towels, lit a fire in the wood stove, and made coffee. While we were warming up, the rain turned into a flash flood warning on her battery-powered radio. “You’re not going anywhere tonight,” she said. She made up the sofa for my parents and gave me her husband’s old armchair by the fire. I fell asleep to the sound of rain hammering the metal roof.
The next morning, the sun was back. The small stream near her house had risen three feet but was already going down. Before we left, my dad tried to pay her. Margaret shook her head. “Someday, you’ll help someone the same way.”
注意:
(1)写作词数应为150个左右;

One year later, we were back, with memories of helping others. Hearing our voices, Margaret stepped out. After a quick hello, she warmly invited us in for a rest. Hardly had we sat down when she asked, “So, what brings you all here today?” We told her we just wanted to check on her. To our great relief, she said she was doing fine. We shared with her warm moments of helping others including how we saved our elderly neighbor from a sudden heart attack. “Wow, that’s really something,” Margaret said, looking at us with admiration. Time slipped away, and before we knew it, it was time to head home.
When we were leaving, Dad saw her shaky fence. Seeing how broken it was, he turned to us. “Let’s fix this fence for her,” he suggested. I gathered spare wooden boards lying around the yard. Mom held the boards steady against the broken gaps, while Dad hammered them firmly into place. Many hands made light work. Soon enough, the unstable old fence became neat and strong. Right then Margaret came outside and spotted the fixed fence. “I’m so thankful to you all for fixing my fence!” she said with a big grin. It was this simple act of mutual kindness that filled our hearts with warmth and left us such lovely memories.

The Man Who Hated Sitting Still
C
30. What do the employee’s remarks show?
A. Mona ignores private time. B. Mona values working efficiency.
C. Mona neglects communication. D. Mona respects work-life balance.
31. What does the author imply in the last paragraph?
A. The Wi-Fi in the cafe is always unstable.
B. Mona can handle Wi-Fi issues right now.
C. The cafe will definitely stop if the Wi-Fi fails.
D. Future AI may not rely on Wi-Fi as it does now.

U1 Life Choices)
