参考范文:
Dear Jim,
I’m delighted to share with you our group study during the vacation.
We formed groups of five to six students with different strengths. Each group had a leader. We studied in various ways. Sometimes we discussed difficult problems via video calls, sharing different ideas and perspectives. Other times, we assigned tasks to each member, like making summaries or preparing presentations, and then reported back to the group.
For me, group study has been a great experience. It has not only improved my learning efficiency but also enhanced my communication and cooperation skills. Working with my group members broadened my horizons and taught me how to learn from others.
What about your study experiences? I’m eager to hear from you.
Best regards,
Li Hua

参考范文:
The experience in the talent show became a turning point for Brian. Instead of letting Ken’s words discourage him, he used them as fuel to work even harder. He joined the school drama club, where he started performing in short plays. His popularity grew, and soon he was invited to perform at local youth events. Whenever he felt nervous before a performance, he would recall the laughter from that talent show and the pride of winning first prize. Brian always made sure to prepare seriously, and with each performance, he gained more confidence and improved his skills.
Years later, Brian’s efforts paid off. He became a well-known comedy actor. One day, he happened to meet Ken, who was now working as an event organizer. Ken finally admitted, “I was wrong back then. I wanted to be on stage too, but I was afraid of failing. I was just jealous.” Brian smiled and replied, “Thank you. Your criticism actually helped me grow stronger.” He realized that staying true to oneself and working hard is the real key to success.

Dreams often begin in the smallest corners of our lives, long before we realize they’re guiding us somewhere amazing. In Yerramala Palle, a quiet village in Andhra Pradesh’s Kadapa district, a young girl, who once threw a cricket (板球) ball into the air, never knew that the seemingly small act would one day make a big difference and transform her entire life.
Raised in an ordinary home with her parents and elder sister, Shree Charani tried every sport she could: badminton, athletics, and cricket. “I started playing cricket when I was in first or second grade. I didn’t really know why I liked it so much,” she recalled. “Everyone in my family loved the sport, and that was how it all began for me. Around seventh grade, my father bought me my first cricket kit.”
Charani’s daily existence was entirely devoted to practice and training. Injuries were a constant threat, yet she never permitted fear to control her determination. “Once, Charani fell during a match and broke her right arm. She didn’t drop a single tear nor inform anyone. She simply returned home and lay down in silence. It was only later that we discovered what had happened and immediately rushed her to the hospital. Fortunately, she made a quick recovery,” her sister recalled.
However, the toughest battle was not on the field but within the walls of society. “People used to question Charani, asking why she had a boyish hairstyle,” her sister added. “The message from society was clear: she was just a girl, and her future — they insisted — should end in marriage, not in sports, dreams, or ambition.”
From the quiet village of Yerramala Palle to the exciting stadiums (体育场) of world cricket, Shree Charani’s journey serves as a vivid reminder of what happens when talent meets determination. Now, she is not just a recognized bowler. She stands as living proof that a dream nurtured (滋养) in silence can one day light the way for every person who dares to believe in themselves.
24. What originally inspired Charani to take up cricket?
A. A professional sports coach.
B. Her desire to beat other players.
C. A school sports competition.
D. Her whole family’s fondness for it.
25. How did Charani react right after her arm injury?
A. She kept her suffering to herself.
B. She let her sister take her to hospital.
C. She cried and called for her parents.
D. She continued playing despite the pain.
26. Which problem troubled Charani most deeply?
A. Frequent physical sports injuries. B. Heavy pressure from her school studies.
C. Lack of recognition from society. D. Insufficient funds for training equipment.
27. What can be the best title for the text?
A. Challenges Faced by Female Athletes B. Lessons Learned From Cricket Troubles
C. A Small Dream Shining With Persistence D. Popular Sports in a Remote Indian Village
C
When strong winds strike, birds do not push back — they sense the change and adjust (调整) their wings, and fish do the same in shifting currents. Unlike the light, flexible bodies of birds and fish, the firm structures of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) leave them easily knocked off course by sudden currents. To address this challenge, researchers have taken inspiration from nature to create a robotic wing that reduces shaking in water to move stably.
The team, led by the University of Southampton, looked to use the power of proprioception — the body’s internal sense of position, movement, and force. Using proprioception, birds sense changes in air flow through their feathers, while fish rely on sensors along their bodies to follow water motion.
To copy this functionality, the engineers developed an innovative e-skin that can sense small changes caused by water currents. It consists of flexible liquid metal wires wrapped in silicone (硅胶). These act like nerves, sending signals as the wing bends. When hit by a sudden current, the soft wing first bends naturally, taking in part of the impact without any energy input. The signals then switch on two tubes housed inside the wing body. These tubes are hydraulically pressurized (液压) to change the wing’s hardness and shape, correcting any remaining imbalance.
The results of its tests were impressive. The wing reduced force caused by sudden underwater currents by 87% compared with firm wings on conventional AUVs. It responded up to four times faster than soft wings without proprioception and used five times less energy than systems using heat to change shape. Its ability to stabilize itself was about twice that of a flying barn owl (仓鸮), although the authors noted that such biological comparisons should be interpreted with careful thought.
Right now, combining the wing with existing vehicle architectures may present a significant engineering challenge. “Connecting it to current systems would require firm connectors to link soft and firm structures. Further improvements are needed to make the attachment more stable and protect the electrical connections,” said Leo Micklem, lead author on the paper.
28. Why did researchers develop the robotic wing?
A. To study how birds adjust to winds.
B. To make AUVs more stable in currents.
C. To examine silicone’s underwater use.
D. To copy the movement of fish in water.
29. What does the e-skin do when the wing is hit by a sudden current?
A. It changes the direction of the current.
B. It takes in all the impact immediately.
C. It cools the wing to change its shape.
D. It sends signals to switch on the tubes.
30. How does the new wing compare with the firm wings on AUVs?
A. It responds far more slowly. B. It equals barn owls in stability.
C. It reduces water force largely. D. It consumes much more energy.
31. What does Leo Micklem stress about the robotic wing?
A. Its wires break easily underwater. B. Its link to AUVs needs improvement.
C. Its stability requires more testing. D. Its cost is too high for mass production.
D
Artificial intelligence is no longer a concept of the future; it is rapidly changing our present. While much attention is given to its benefits, a growing number of voices are raising concerns about its enormous demand for energy and the resulting environmental cost.
Training and running powerful AI models requires huge computing power. This computing power depends on massive data centers — buildings filled with thousands of computers running non-stop. These data centers consume electricity on a scale comparable to small cities. A recent study suggested that training a single advanced AI model can consume more electricity than 100 homes use in an entire year. As AI spreads to more products, this energy demand is only expected to rise sharply.
This leads to a critical question: where does all this electricity come from? If the energy powering AI comes from burning fossil fuels like coal and gas, it contributes significantly to releasing (释放) carbon, which worsens climate change. While some tech companies are committed to using renewable energy, such as solar or wind power, the global energy system is not yet green enough. The rapid expansion of AI could therefore put a huge strain on our energy resources and slow down the shift to cleaner energy.
Furthermore, AI systems also have a hidden physical cost. The powerful computer chips needed for AI generate a lot of heat and need advanced cooling systems, which themselves use large amounts of water. In regions already facing water shortages, a large data center can impact local water supplies. Additionally, the hardware behind AI has a limited lifespan. The constant need for newer, faster chips creates a cycle of electronic waste, much of which ends up in landfills and pollutes the soil and water.
Professor Elara Vance, an environmental scientist, comments, “We are rightfully excited about AI’s potential to solve complex problems, including climate change. However, we must be careful. The tool we are using to fight a crisis might at the same time be making that crisis worse. We need to develop more energy-efficient AI and ensure it is powered sustainably (可持续地).”
32. Why does the author mention “100 homes use in an entire year” in paragraph 2?
A. To encourage people to save home energy.
B. To compare different energy sources for AI.
C. To present the rapid growth of AI products.
D. To stress the huge energy consumption of AI.
33. What does the underlined word “strain” in paragraph 3 probably mean?
A. Control. B. Pressure. C. Profit. D. Support.
34. Which hidden cost does AI hardware bring?
A. Loss of traditional manual jobs.
B. Decrease of chip production value.
C. Pollution from electronic waste.
D. Release of harmful gas into the air.
35. What can we know about future AI according to the text?
A. It will follow an eco-friendly development path.
B. It can largely solve serious climate problems.
C. It will face application limits due to high costs.
D. It can handle most complex social issues alone.

We live in an age when short dramas slip easily into the gaps of daily life. Their main attraction lies in speed. Like quick flashes of light, they deliver instant excitement and clearly defined emotions. 36 This brings immediate satisfaction with little demand on our time. In a fast-paced world, they have become a natural companion.
Yet what comes quickly often fades (消逝) just as quickly. Short dramas rush from scene to scene. 37 Characters may seem vivid, but they remain shallow — more like simple images than true full characters. Problems are solved before they are fully experienced. Viewers are entertained, but seldom challenged. Gradually, watching turns into a habit of easy consumption rather than active reflection.
38 Beneath the desire for quick pleasure lies a deeper need — to understand, to feel, and to think. We long for meaning that develops slowly, emotions that stay with us, and stories that reflect our own struggles. It is this quiet hunger that draws us towards the wider world of cinema.
A film invites us to slow down. When the screen darkens, time seems to slow down. Scenes are allowed to breathe. Silence begins to speak. Characters grow through choices, mistakes, and moments of waiting. Meaning is not delivered all at once but shown gently, like light at dawn. Films do not rush viewers forward. 39
Think of the white feather drifting in Forrest Gump. Recall Andy Dufresne standing in the rain in The Shawshank Redemption, arms open, finally free. 40 Beyond the fast stream of short dramas lies the deep river of cinema — quiet, powerful, and always worth entering.
A. They leave little room for thought to settle.
B. The human mind is not built for endless speed.
C. But not everyone chooses to watch online videos.
D. These films are produced to offer quick relaxation.
E. Such moments stay with us long after the screen falls silent.
F. In just a few minutes, a problem appears, rises, and disappears.
G. Instead, they lead us to think deeply instead of only focusing on what happens right now.

Fashion is often defined by global runways and luxury houses. But in the mountains of Guizhou, a different vision is taking shape, 56. (root) not in exclusivity (专属权), but in craftsmanship and community.
“Fashion is not something brought in from Paris or Milan, but something that grows out of local ethnic culture,” said 57. (design) Yang Chunlin. “Our rural everyday life represents the best of Eastern aesthetics (美学).”
This belief gave birth to “Village T”, a grassroots fashion project that reflects the 58. (create) spirit of the local villagers. Brian was a funny student who loved watching comedies best and hoped to become a comedy actor one day. He often made his classmates laugh with jokes during breaks, and even his teachers would laugh over his funny remarks in class.
When Brian heard about the school’s upcoming talent show, he immediately decided to participate — though he’d never acted on stage before, the thought of sharing laughter with the whole school filled him with excitement. However, some classmates doubted him publicly. “You? On stage? You’re not funny.” Ken, a boy, said to him. “No one will like your terrible performance. You will embarrass yourself,” another classmate shouted, making Brian’s cheeks burn with embarrassment.
Confused by their words, Brian seriously considered giving up. But then, he recalled how his close friends had always begged him to tell more jokes during lunch breaks, and his drama teacher had once praised his natural sense of humor. He decided to ignore the doubters and focus on preparing the best performance he could. He spent every evening practicing his lines and gestures, and even asking his little sister to be his audience.
On the day of the show, Brian stepped onto the stage with a deep breath. His performance — filled with funny stories about school life and exaggerated (夸张的) expressions — had the audience laughing loudly. When the results were announced, he won first prize! His friends cheered loudly, and his teachers patted him proudly on the back. Even so, Ken told Brian that he was not funny at all, and that he would not be successful. Brian didn’t understand why Ken said so, but he realized that it had nothing to do with himself. He confidently continued to work towards his goal.
