(Text 1)
W: There is a sale on my campus.
M: Sounds very interesting. Have you sold anything?
W: Yes, I sold a dictionary in the morning. And my roommate sold her bike and some clothes.
(Text 2)
M: Honey, the beef tastes so different today. How did you cook it?
W: Well, I cooked it with some beer. I learned it from a cookery book.
(Text 3)
W: I went to the art museum yesterday.
M: How was it? Did you have fun there?
W: No, not at all. It was too crowded there. And people threw lot of rubbish.
(Text 4)
W: Can you help me carry these books into my classroom? I hurt my back yesterday.
M: Sure. I had a bad back once, so I know how you feel. I hurt it falling down the stairs.
(Text 5)
W: Have you decided to take that position in China? I heard the salary is good.
M: No.
W: Why? You took Chinese in high school, didn’t you?
M: Well, my parents are getting old. And I have to take care of them.
(Text 6)
M: What are you going to do when you graduate from school, Sophia?
W: I haven’t made up my mind yet. But maybe I will go to an art institute.
M: What are you going to learn then? Is it singing? I know you are very good at singing.
W: Well, I want to be a singer. But my parents think I should learn acting and try to be an actress. They just say that popular singers are usually young people.
M: But it’s not true. There are many old singers.
W: You’re right, Ben. I’ll try to persuade them to let me learn singing.
M: You are right. I want to be a pianist and I will never give up playing the piano.
(Text 7)
W: Hello, Rose speaking.
M: This is Jack. I have a day off tomorrow. Will you go sightseeing with me?
W: Yes, of course. That’s very kind of you. Where are we going then?
M: We can start with the Seashore Park. It’s quite near here.
W: Is there something interesting about the park?
M: We’ll go to the top of the hill in the park, where you can enjoy the view of the sea.
W: Wonderful!
M: Then we can visit the museum in the park.
W: What’s on show there?
M: Coins. There are coins of different times from different countries.
W: Oh, no. I’m afraid that coins don’t interest me.
M: Then, how about going to the Bird Island? There are varieties of birds there.
W: That sounds interesting. I love birds.
(Text 8)
M: Dorothy, is that you?
W: Yes, it’s me, Jack! I’m delighted to hear your voice! I’ve been wondering why you didn’t call me ever since I received your card from Chicago.
M: I’m sorry. I was so busy.
W: It doesn’t matter. Where are you?
M: I’m at the airport. I’m here to attend a meeting.
W: Where are you going to stay?
M: The Grand Hotel.
W: No, you needn’t stay in any hotel. You can stay with us in our flat while you’re here in Los Angeles. I’ll pick you up at the airport within half an hour.
M: That’s very nice of you, but I think I’d better stay in the hotel because I have to check in at the representative office this afternoon. Will you have dinner with me tonight?
W: With pleasure.
(Text 9)
M: Have you read today’s newspaper?
W: Not yet. Is there anything special in it?
M: Yes. A plane flying from Tokyo to New York crashed an hour and a half later after it took off.
W: How many people were there on the plane?
M: They say there were 158, including 12 women and 2 children. They were lucky that the plane was flying over the Pacific Ocean. All the people on board had jumped out before the plane fell into the water.
W: Why did you say they were lucky?
M: A big ship with more than 200 trained sailors on board happened to be passing by. You know sailors are all good at swimming and helping drowning people is no hard work for them at all.
W: So all the people were saved?
M: Not all of them. There was an old man who had died of heart attack before a sailor could bring him onto the ship.
W: It’s really special news.
(Text 10)
W: One day, I was shopping at the mall with my mom and dad. Suddenly, I saw my favorite pet shop and requested my parents to take me in. I had always wanted a cute puppy and maybe I could find my friend here. As soon as we got inside, I saw a very cute puppy sitting all alone. I liked him a lot and decided that he would be my best friend forever. So we brought him home and I got him a name called Aryan. Aryan is brown and white, and is a handsome dog. He loves to play. One day, when Aryan and I were playing, I heard a knock at the door. I ran to open it and guess who was standing there. It was my friend Hanna. I was thrilled. But oh! She didn’t like dogs. She was afraid of them. What should I do now? I wanted to play with both Aryan and Hanna. I was confused. Then I got an idea. I told Hanna to give Aryan some food so that he would stop barking at her. I wanted them to be friends, so all of us could play. Aryan was happy with all the treats. He jumped on her and gave her a kiss. Hanna loved it. And we had a wonderful time together.

How to Be a Smart Reader
In the age of information overload, we often find it hard to tell facts from lies. Headlines scream for attention, but many turn out to be half-true or completely false. This confusion makes us doubt what to trust.
To be a smart reader, first, check the source. Reliable news comes from well-known organizations. Second, read beyond the title — don’t be misled by the eye-catching headline alone. Third, compare multiple reports before forming an opinion. Finally, use fact-checking websites. By staying curious and critical, we can protect ourselves from misinformation and become truly wise readers.

One possible version:
My mom’s face lit up. That weekend, my mom and I paid a visit to the Inglers’ home. After we were led into a little smoky room by Becky’s mother, a tiny tired-looking woman, my mom smiled and explained, “Mrs. Ingler, Becky and my son are classmates. We’re asking a few children to help hand out coats to those in need. We are wondering whether Becky would like to join us?”
While my mom was talking with Becky’s mother, Becky came over. Having heard our plan, she carefully studied the coats. Then pulled out a pretty pink one and tried it on. “Wow, they are still in very good condition,” she said, her eyes shining. “I really appreciate you thinking of me for this and I’d be happy to help. By the way, can I select a few for my friends and keep this one for myself? It is so beautiful!”

第二部分 阅读(共两节,满分50分)
第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
A
Just like fashion and accents, eating habits can vary from region to region around the United States.
The South
The best food in the South — chicken, potatoes — are fried. Many traditional southern meals are cooked in high-fat oils. Kentucky has four fast food restaurants for every 10,000 people — the highest number in the US. Alabama consumes the most fast food, followed by Kentucky and Louisiana.
According to CDC data, eating too much fried food is undoubtedly a huge contributor to the fact that southern states top the list of states with the most heart disease.
The Midwest
The Midwest is best known for eating a lot of beef and corn — and it’s absolutely true! Three of the top five beef-producing states — Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma — are in the Midwest. And all 10 of the top corn-producing states are located in the Midwest. Enjoying some corn-on-the-cob is a summer must in the Midwest.
The West Coast
The Midwest might be known for producing vegetables, but the West Coast eats the most of them. According to the CDC, adults in California and Oregon eat the most vegetables and fruits. This area of the country actually has more farmers’ markets that accept nutritional assistance programs, meaning more people have access to healthy produce.
Seafood is popular on the West Coast, thanks to the region’s closeness to the ocean. Fresh, just-caught fish is plentiful around the many seaports along the coast. The world’s most famous fresh fish market — Pike Place Fish Market — is located in Seattle, Washington.
Juicing might be a more recent trend (潮流) in the rest of the country, but people on the West Coast have been on the juice train for years.
21. What does the author say about the food in the southern states?
A. It is convenient. B. It is cheap. C. It is unhealthy. D. It is tasty.
22. What are the most popular dishes in the Midwest?
A. Beef and corn-on-the-cob.
B. Fresh fish and salad.
C. Fried potatoes and chicken.
D. Fruits and vegetables.
23. Where is the most famous fresh fish market in the US?
A. In California. B. In Kansas. C. In Oregon. D. In Washington.

Commencement (毕业典礼) season has arrived again — and this year, many keynote speakers have discovered that it’s tough to get graduating students excited about a future shaped by artificial intelligence (AI).
Last weekend, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt faced repeated boos (倒彩) during his speech to about 10,000 University of Arizona graduates on the great changes brought about by AI. A similar response met Scott Borchetta, the CEO of Big Machine Records, when he spoke to the graduating class of Middle Tennessee State University about how AI is helping the music industry.
“At the beginning we were excited about it,” said Kareen Gill, a graduate of University of Arizona with a political science degree. “But now, we don’t want it messing with the jobs that we’ve worked for years — so hard for four years — to be qualified for.”
“One immediate impact I have noticed is fewer entry level positions because AI is replacing many of those jobs,” said Sami Wargo, who just graduated from Middle Tennessee State University. “I have applied for around 30 jobs but hasn’t landed one yet. That sucks.”
Not everyone has been met with verbal pushback to AI, though. When CleanHarbors founder Alan McKim spoke at the Northeastern University commencement, he appealed to the graduates to accept AI, but warned, “Your character will matter more than your code (代码).” No boos were heard in the audience.
As Dave Lee wrote in Bloomberg, “For any commencement speaker in 2026, no conversation about the future could be credible without mentioning AI. But in front of today’s graduates, striking the right tone is hard. They know the world of work they are entering has never been more uncertain. Anxiety runs high.”
24. What message can we get from the first two paragraphs?
A. The keynote speeches were boring. B. Many graduates felt threatened by AI.
C. AI has become an unavoidable topic. D. Some graduating students were rude.
25. What does the underlined word “it” in paragraph 3 refer to?
A. AI. B. Speech. C. Graduation. D. Music industry.
26. Which is closest in meaning to “That sucks.” in paragraph 4?
A. It is fair enough. B. It is untrue.
C. It is very bad. D. It is funny.
27. What is Dave Lee’s advice?
A. Focus on AI’s harm. B. Be mindful of graduates’ worry.
C. Avoid mentioning AI. D. Persuade graduates to accept AI.

Nelson Dellis is a six-time US memory champion. Recently, Roselyne Chauvin at Washington University has studied his brain in detail to understand how he achieved such a good memory and how we could learn some of the same skills.
During the study, Dellis was asked to rest in a scanning machine for a total of 13 hours while he was tested on his memory. In one of the tests, Dellis was asked to repeatedly remember a set of four to seven words that appeared one after another on a screen for just 1 second. He was told to use rote memorization, a technique that involves repeating things over and over to make them stick in the memory. His brain activity was then compared with that of two scientists, who acted as the controls and were considered to have very good — but not extraordinary — memories. The data showed that Dellis and the controls had similar brain activity during the test.
“But rote memorization is a terrible approach,” Dellis said after the test. “Lying in a scanner to memorize things is not exactly how I normally do.”
To step things up, another — task which was done only by Dellis — involved him memorizing the order of cards while his brain was scanned. This time, Dellis employed the method of loci, also known as a memory palace. It involves relating information to specific locations in a familiar place like your home, and then mentally walking through it to help recall (回忆) the information in order.
“Loci is the foundation of almost every memory technique I use,” explained Dellis. “We were not born to memorize abstract (抽象) things like numbers or language. Instead, we were born to find our food and know where to avoid threats.”
But Morris Moscovitch at the University of Toronto said that it is unclear to what extent others can use this technique to improve their memory and how Dellis has approached such an extraordinary memory. “For better everyday memory, do what your mother told you — pay attention, eat well, sleep well and exercise,” Moscovitch said.
28. Which of the following belongs to rote memorization?
A. Read a phone number again and again.
B. Make a funny story with new words.
C. Put a picture beside each phone number.
D. Find connections among new words.
29. According to Nelson Dellis, what is key to achieving his extraordinary memory?
A. Imagination. B. Repetition. C. Timing. D. Food.
30. What does Morris Moscovitch want to stress?
A. Parents’ advice should be valued. B. Dellis’s techniques are unscientific.
C. Memory palace should be popularized. D. Good habits can improve our memory.
31. In which section of a website may this text appear?
A. Games. B. Science. C. Art. D. Education.
D
Last September, I drove to a protected wetland near my home in Oakland, California, walked to the end of a quiet path by the sea and started looking at birds. Since then, I have become addicted to bird watching. I’ve identified 452 species, including 307 this year alone.
This new activity has turned out to be more calming than meditation (禅修). While birding, I seem to forget heat, cold, hunger and thirst. My senses focus just on the present, and the usual noise in my head becomes quiet. When I spot a species for the first time, I’m very happy while feeling extremely peaceful.
I also feel a much deeper connection to the natural world. The passing of the seasons seems to be more noticeable, marked by the arrival and departure (离开) of particular species instead of much slower changes in day length, temperature and greenery. I find myself noticing small changes in the weather and small differences in habitat. I think about the tides.
When I started birding, I remember thinking that I’d never see most of the species in my field guide. I had accepted the idea of nature as distant and remote. But in the past six months, I’ve seen rare golden eagles and amazed by diving Pacific loons, all within an hour of my house.
It’s easy to think of birding as an escape from reality. Instead, I see it as immersion (沉浸) in the true reality. I don’t need to know who the main characters are on social media and what everyone is saying about them, when I can instead spend an hour trying to find a rare bird. It’s very clear to me which of those two activities is the more rewarding.
32. Bird watching has helped the author ______.
A. escape reality B. protect wildlife C. make new friends D. find mental peace
33. What does the author think of his birding achievements?
A. Disappointing. B. Amazing. C. Uninteresting. D. Embarrassing.
34. Which word best describes the author’s attitude to social media?
A. Objective. B. Appreciative. C. Unfavorable. D. Unclear.
35. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. A Better Method to Meditate B. My Visit to a Protected Wetland
C. My New Rewarding Hobby D. A Way to Connect to Nature
第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
That fear of not being able to sleep is a phenomenon called “sleep anxiety”. One of the most effective ways to deal with it is the so-called cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I). 36 . It just involves certain changes to your behavior or lifestyles.
Schedule your “worry time”
If all your stress comes flooding in at bedtime, try taking just 10 or 15 minutes at the same time each day to write out what’s bothering you. That way, if you start to worry about your schoolwork while you’re in bed, you can say to yourself, “ 37 .”
Be mindful when tracking sleep
Sleep trackers can give you helpful information about how you slept. 38 . In other words, if you are using these devices to track your sleep, ask yourself: Is the information helping you make changes in your behavior or lifestyle, or is it stressing you out and making the insomnia worse?
If you tend to worry about your sleep-tracker data, try tracking your sleep with a pen and paper instead. It can help you focus on how your sleep is feeling to you instead of the numbers.
39
The cycles between sleep and wake-up are managed by a clock inside your body. So having a fixed wake-up time keeps the clock ticking on time.
Focus on a wind-down time, not a bedtime
Instead of trying to force yourself to go to bed at a specific time, even though you’re not sleepy, focus on winding down for bed earlier. A wind-down time can look like putting on comfortable clothes and darkening the lights in your home. A wind-down time can help lessen the feeling that you must get to sleep immediately. 40 .
A. Reshape your sleep habits
B. I did this worrying already
C. Wake up at the same time every day
D. It can also help you relax before you go to bed
E. Unlike other treatments, it doesn’t rely on any medicine
F. But it’s important to have a healthy level of doubt about it
G. The more you focus on it, the less chance you’ll sleep, which then makes you more anxious.

How to Be a Smart Reader
第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I did not realize my mom had such a charitable heart until one bitingly cold winter day. She had just picked me up from school when her eyes fell on a skinny girl with black hair. At the school gate, the girl was met by a group of poorly-dressed kids.
“Who is she?” my Mom asked. “The kids don’t even have coats on. It’s so cold!”
“That is Becky Ingler, my classmate,” I replied. “She always looks like that. Those are her friends, I guess.”
Without another word, my mom turned and followed the children from a distance.
“Where are you going, Mom?” I asked as we walked along the street. My mom didn’t reply, but kept pace until the kids entered a half-ruined house.
“Does Becky live here?” My mom asked softly, looking at me. “Tell me more about her.”
I told her what I knew: Becky Ingler’s father passed away a few years ago. She sometimes smelled funny and many students laughed at her torn clothes. My mom was quiet for a moment.
“I think we can do something for her,” she said. “Will you help me?”
“Yes,” I nodded.
The next day, my mom and I started collecting coats from the donation boxes. Each evening, she sat at her old sewing machine, mending (修补) them until they looked nearly new.
“These are beautiful,” I said, holding up a finished coat. “Becky would be so lucky.”
“But I don’t want these coats to hurt her pride,” My mom said thoughtfully. “We need a way to give without embarrassing anyone.”
My mom’s words reminded me of the expressions on Becky Ingler’s face when the students laughed at her clothes. Then an idea struck me.
“What if we invite Becky to help us give coats to other kids? That way, she’ll feel proud, not pitied,” I suggested.
注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
My mom’s face lit up.
While my mom was talking with Becky’s mother, Becky came over.
