His new book ________ ________ last month.
【答案】 ①. came ②. out

Bright yellow taxis are picking up and _______ ________ passengers.
【答案】 ①. dropping ②. off
本句为现在进行时(are picking up and...),故“drop off”需用现在分词形式“dropping off”,与“picking up”并列作谓语。
She always ________ ________ her work.
【答案】 ①. focuses##concentrates ②. on
故填focuses/concentrates;on。

The sun ________ ________ right now.
【答案】 ①. is ②. shining

(3)Before the lion could answer, the hyena said, “It’s because of your big teeth!” The prince heard this and laughed, “No, that’s not true!”
(4)“Then it must be your claws,” said the hyena. “You could hurt the prince with them!” The prince laughed again, “I trust my lion. It won’t hurt me: I keep it in the cage because I’m afraid it will leave me when it sees how free and happy life is outside.”
(5)The hyena said, “You’re wrong, Prince! We love our cages. Let me out, and I’ll show you.” The prince was kind and opened the hyena’s cage. But the hyena jumped at the prince to eat him!
(6)Just then, the lion jumped out of its cage. It caught the hyena with its strong claws (爪子). The hyena was scared and ran away quickly.

根据文章最后一段“He learned an important lesson: Friendship needs trust.”

第一段末尾句子“But did you know that he was also good at geology, art, German and Japanese?”,开篇设置问题,用来勾起读者阅读文章的兴趣。
第二段第一句“Lu Xun studied metallurgy (冶金学) in Nanjing from 1898 to 1902”写鲁迅1898至1902年在南京求学,本段第三句“Two years later, he went to Japan to study medicine.”,1902往后推两年是1904。
第四段第一句“He felt it was not easy to quickly change the ignorance (无知) of people at that time.”,说明鲁迅当时很难让民众变得明理清醒。
Many fish live in the sea, but the manta ray (蝠鲼) stands out because of its large, flat (扁平的) body and graceful swimming style. ____21____ Because of this, they made the world’s first soft-body submersible (潜水器).
____22____ Thanks to its shape, the submersible has a lot of space inside. It can hold many tools for different jobs. For example, it can help look for bombs (炸弹) in the deep sea.
There are many sonars (声呐) around its body. Sonars use sound to “see” under the water. ____23____ The front one faces forward to find things, while the others look to the sides to map the sea floor. They can also work in groups and “talk” with each other. ____24____ This makes it perfect for long and quiet underwater tasks.
A. This submersible can do more than a manta ray.
B. Chinese scientists saw how well the manta ray moves in the water.
C. The manta ray usually lives in warm and shallow seas.
D. Also, the submersible moves smoothly, and it helps the sonar work well.
E. They’re like “eyes” in the dark.
B 22. A 23. E 24. D
空后句提到“Because of this, they made the world's first soft-body submersible.”,句中的代词“they”在空前必须有指代对象。选项B“Chinese scientists saw how well the manta ray moves in the water.”
A“This submersible can do more than a manta ray.”
空前一句提到“Sonars use sound to 'see' under the water.”。选项E“They’re like ‘eyes’ in the dark.”
空后句总结道“This makes it perfect for long and quiet underwater tasks.”。选项D“Also, the submersible moves smoothly, and it helps the sonar work well.”

结合后文“I decided to give him the change”“handed him the money”,全文围绕给流浪汉零钱展开,money意为“钱”,符合语境。
happen to do sth.
for a little while是固定短语,表示“持续一小段时间”,介词for用来描述动作持续时长。after“在……之后”、in“在……
went with“伴随”、called back“回电”、met up“碰面”逻辑相反。

此处考查“it is + adj. + to do sth.”

Some people say they can feel changes in the weather because their joints (关节) hurt or they get headaches (头疼). Scientists have started to study this idea more. This study is called “meteoropathy” (气候病).
Dr Vincent Martin teaches at the University of Cincinnati’s College of Medicine. He explains that meteoropathy is about how weather affects (影响) our health. It’s still a new idea, but more scientists are looking into it.
Martin’s study mainly focuses on migraines-strong headaches. He and his team shared their findings at a meeting of the American Headache Society. They found that when the temperature goes up by 10 degrees, people with migraines have a 6 percent higher chance of getting a headache.
In 2013, Martin also found that lightning within 25 miles of someone's home can increase (增加) the chance of migraines by 31 percent. Other weather changes, like air pressure (气压) and rain, also seem to cause migraines.
Martin isn’t sure why temperature changes cause migraines. He thinks it might be because some parts of nerve cells (神经细胞) react to temperature changes. When these parts are triggered (触发), they can make nerves very sensitive (敏感的) and cause headaches.
45. What is meteoropathy about?

46. How many things may cause migraines in the text?
