W: I’ve heard the old market beside our office will be taken down to build a new shopping center. But this market has been standing there for the last hundred years. Shouldn’t we protect such historic sites? M: Absolutely! Standing here from the office window, we can see some of its unique features. Old as it is, it has become part of our identity. Research has shown that 60% of local traditions have developed from places like that. W: We should protect old historic buildings for the future. But preservation of old building costs money. M: Education helps. Teach kids their value. Also, there should be a law that asks the government to put 15% of its funds for heritage protection programs. W: Good idea. And we can provide digital information of the historic sites for future generations. 14. What still appears in the woman’s dreams? A. Her burned cakes. B. M: Well, let’s find a reason to gather there sometime next week. But anyhow, I like cooking at home. Mary and I sometimes try to cook some new food at home. It may cause a mess, but we both like the experience. W: Exactly. My dad taught me to bake as a kid. I still remember once I made a cake burnt, but he said, “Practice makes perfect.” Now I bake when I miss him. M: That’s beautiful. Food ties memories to people. But since we moved to this big city, routines have replaced creativity. All of us are busy with our work. W: Mark, let’s grab some coffee after work at the coffee shop around the corner. It won’t disappoint you, I promise. M: That’s a deal, but it’ll be my treat this time. Next time, perhaps you can treat me to some of your cakes, as long as they’re not burnt. Holi Festival Holi turns cities into a sea of rainbow colors. People throw handfuls of colored powder at friends, family, and total strangers, while music, dancing, and laughter fill the streets. The festival celebrates the arrival of spring and the success. It happens on March 3. Wear white clothes if you don’t mind getting dirty, and prepare to be covered head-to-toe in every color imaginable. Wife-Carrying World Championship Competitors race through a difficult course while carrying their wife. The course includes water hazards (障碍), and sand traps that test strength, speed, and teamwork. Winners receive their wife’s weight in beer. It happens on July 3 and 4. Despite the traditional name, any couple can compete, and the event attracts teams from around the world eager to prove their carrying skills and sense of humor. Monkey Buffet Festival Tables piled high with fruit, vegetables, and snacks are laid out for Lopburi’s famous monkeys in a yearly feast that is both generous and makes for great photos. Hundreds of monkeys rush to the spread, creating a wild feeding competition that delights photographers and tourists. Typically held in late November, the 2026 event doesn’t have fixed dates yet. Night of the Radishes (萝卜) Artists in Oaxaca spend hours carving oversized radishes into well-designed historical figures and imaginary creatures, knowing their creations will dry out within a day. The time pressure makes the festival feel magical and short-lived, which is a special experience. It happens on December 23. It’s held yearly on the same date. Arrive early for the best views, because the detailed carvings are amazing but only last for a short time. 21. Which event needs both physical effort and teamwork? A. Holi Festival. B. Night of the Radishes. C. Monkey Buffet Festival. D. Wife-Carrying World Championship. 22. What can we infer about the Monkey Buffet Festival? A. It has a fixed activity schedule. B. It happens after Christmas. C. The art disappears quickly. D. Carvings are donated for free. D 22. B 23. 根据Wife-Carrying World Championship部分中“Competitors race through a difficult course while carrying their wife. The course includes water hazards (障碍), and sand traps that test strength, speed, and teamwork.(参赛者们扛着妻子,穿越充满挑战的赛道。赛道设有水上障碍与沙坑,考验选手的力量、速度与团队协作能力。)”可知,该活动需要体力和团队合作。 【22题详解】 推理判断题。根据Monkey Buffet Festival部分中“Typically held in late November, the 2026 event doesn’t have fixed dates yet.(这项活动通常在11月末举办,但2026年的活动暂未确定具体日期。)” 根据Night of the Radishes部分中“Artists in Oaxaca spend hours carving oversized radishes into well-designed historical figures and imaginary creatures, knowing their creations will dry out within a day. The time pressure makes the festival feel magical and short-lived, which is a special experience.(瓦哈卡的艺术家们耗时数小时,将巨型萝卜精心雕刻成历史人物与奇幻生物。他们清楚这些作品一天之内就会脱水枯萎。时间上的紧迫感让这场节日盛会充满魔力、转瞬即逝,这是一种特别的体验。)”及“Arrive early for the best views, because the detailed carvings are amazing but only last for a short time.(建议早点到场观赏,这些精致雕刻精美绝伦,却只能短暂留存。)” B When Leo turned sixteen, he received a gift that would change him in ways he never expected — a second-hand camera from his grandfather. At first, he was somewhat disappointed. He had hoped for something more exciting, like a new phone or a gaming console (游戏机). But his grandfather simply smiled and said, “Sometimes the best gifts aren’t the loudest ones.” For weeks, the camera sat untouched on his desk. Then one rainy Sunday, bored and with nothing else to do, Leo picked it up and started experimenting. He photographed raindrops on the window, his cat sleeping on the sofa, and the way light fell across his bedroom floor. Something unexpected happened — he began to notice things he had never seen before. The world, he realized, was full of small moments that most people overlooked. Leo started carrying the camera everywhere. He photographed street musicians, elderly couples in the park, children playing in the rain. His photos captured not just images, but feelings — loneliness, joy, connection. Strangers began stopping him to ask about his work. For the first time, Leo felt like he had something to say. The greatest change, however, was inside him. Before, Leo had been shy and unsure of himself. He often felt invisible at school, like he didn’t quite fit in. But through the lens (镜头) , he found a voice. Photography taught him to look closely, to be patient, and to find beauty in unexpected places. It also taught him that everyone has a story worth telling. Years later, when asked what made him become a photographer, Leo doesn’t mention the camera. “It was my grandfather’s belief in me,” he says. “He saw something in me that I couldn’t see in myself. That gift wasn’t just a camera — it was permission to see the world differently.” 24. How did Leo feel when he first got the camera? A. Slightly upset. B. Deeply grateful. C. Totally confused. D. Extremely excited. 25. What made Leo start using the camera? A. Small peaceful moments. B. A rainy day of boredom. C. His desire to become famous. D. His grandfather’s encouragement. 26. Why did Leo feel he finally had something to say? A. Strangers’ praise gave him confidence. B. His photography skills improved noticeably. C. His photos were vivid and full of life stories. D. Strangers started to show interest in his work. 27. What message does the story mainly convey? A. Gifts from elders are always valuable. B. True talent will be discovered sooner or later. C. Belief from others can help us find ourselves. D. Seeing beauty in small things leads to success. A 25. B 26. D 27. 根据第一段中“At first, he was somewhat disappointed. He had hoped for something more exciting(起初,他心里有些失望。他原本期待得到更刺激的东西)”可知,Leo最初对相机感到有些失望,希望得到更令人兴奋的礼物。 【25题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段中“Then one rainy Sunday, bored and with nothing else to do, Leo picked it up and started experimenting.(然后在一个下雨的星期天,利奥无聊无事可做,拿起它开始试验。)” 根据第三段中“Strangers began stopping him to ask about his work. For the first time, Leo felt like he had something to say.(陌生人开始拦住他,问起他的作品。利奥第一次觉得自己有话要说。)”可知,陌生人对他作品的兴趣让他第一次感到自己有了表达的内容。 【27题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文并根据最后一段利奥的总结““It was my grandfather’s belief in me, ” he says. “He saw something in me that I couldn’t see in myself. ”(“是我祖父对我的信任,”他说。“他在我身上看到了一些我自己看不到的东西。”)”可推知,故事主要传达的信息是他人的信任与信念能帮助我们认识并发掘自我。 C AI has made its way into almost every field, and according to Abta’s latest Holiday Habits report, the travel industry is no exception. The rate of people using AI to get some travel ideas has doubled in the past 12 months, up to 8 percent from 4 percent. The survey of 2,001 people also showed that younger generations are leading the way in using AI. The largest age group is 25-to-34-year-olds, with 18 percent looking for travel ideas through AI. That number drops to 13 percent for 18-to-24-year-olds. And only 3 percent of 55-to-64-year-olds are using AI for holiday tips. However, AI has not taken over just yet when it comes to researching trips, as Internet searches (48 percent) and recommendations from friends and family (41 percent) still remain the most common ways to choose where to go. In fact, people taking more traditional routes, such as looking through holiday brochures, still take up 25 percent. Abta says that AI will continue to grow when it comes to trip planning. Tourists have already shown a level of trust in AI for making travel decisions. 43 percent of people in the survey said they would be confident to some degree in letting an AI tool plan their holiday, with this number dropping to just 38 percent letting the tool book their trip for them. Travel industry leaders state that AI will continue to be a big part of what customers do before they make a travel decision. According to them, AI will greatly influence the travel industry, but travellers still want to communicate with a travel company before booking trips. Travel companies will not vanish anytime soon, because of that group of customers who think it’s necessary to go in and look someone in the eye when they’re booking something. 28. How is paragraph 2 mainly developed? A. By analyzing causes. B. By providing figures. C. By following time order. D. By describing a process. 29. What is the most popular way for people to plan their trips? A. Seeking help from AI for travel ideas. B. Referring to printed holiday brochures. C. Searching for information on the Internet. D. Asking friends and family about travel advice. 30. What does the underlined word “vanish” in the last paragraph most probably mean? A. Take off. B. Turn up. C. Come together. D. Die out. 31. What is the text mainly about? A. AI’s growing part in travel planning. B. Youth’s deep affection for new technology. C. Challenges faced by traditional travel companies. D. The rapid development of AI in modern technology. B 29. C 30. D 31. 根据第二段“The survey of 2, 001 people also showed that younger generations are leading the way in using AI. The largest age group is 25-to-34-year-olds, with 18 percent looking for travel ideas through AI. That number drops to 13 percent for 18-to-24-year-olds. And only 3 percent of 55-to-64-year-olds are using AI for holiday tips. (对2001人的调查显示,年轻一代在使用人工智能方面处于领先地位。其中占比最高的年龄群体是25至34岁人群,有18%的人通过人工智能寻找旅行灵感;而18至24岁人群的比例降至13%。仅有3%的55至64岁人群使用人工智能获取度假建议。)”可知,第二段主要通过提供数字来展开论述,说明了不同年龄段使用人工智能寻找旅行灵感的比例。 【29题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“However, AI has not taken over just yet when it comes to researching trips, as Internet searches (48 percent) and recommendations from friends and family (41 percent) still remain the most common ways to choose where to go. (然而,目前在旅行研究方面,人工智能尚未完全取代传统方式,互联网搜索(48%)和亲友推荐(41%)仍然是选择目的地的最常见途径。)”可知,人们计划旅行最受欢迎的方式是在互联网上搜索信息。 【30题详解】 词句猜测题。根据最后一段“According to them, AI will greatly influence the travel industry, but travellers still want to communicate with a travel company before booking trips. Travel companies will not vanish anytime soon, because of that group of customers who think it’s necessary to go in and look someone in the eye when they’re booking something. (据他们表示,人工智能将对旅游业产生重大影响,但旅行者在预订行程前仍希望与旅行社沟通。由于这部分顾客认为在预订时有必要面对面交流,因此旅行社短期内不会vanish。)”可知,由于有些顾客认为在预订旅行时有必要与旅行社面对面交流,所以旅行社不会很快消失。因此“vanish”在此处的意思是“消失,灭绝”,与“Die out”意思相近。 【31题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第二段“The survey of 2, 001 people also showed that younger generations are leading the way in using AI. The largest age group is 25-to-34-year-olds, with 18 percent looking for travel ideas through AI. That number drops to 13 percent for 18-to-24-year-olds. And only 3 percent of 55-to-64-year-olds are using AI for holiday tips. Decades of neuroscience show that attention, expectation, and perception play a decisive role in how pain is experienced. That realization has led researchers to an unlikely testing ground: virtual reality (VR). One of the earliest scientists to explore VR’s potential for pain relief is Hunter Hoffman, a psychologist who has been studying immersive (沉浸式的) environments for more than 25 years. At the University of Washington in Seattle, he developed an immersive environment called “SnowWorld” to help children experiencing burn wound care — a painful medical procedure. The program has been shown in multiple clinical studies to reduce both pain and anxiety during burn wound care. “The driving factor is distraction (分心),” says Zina Trost, a VR pain researcher at Texas A&M University. “The visual system is so primary in people. And if pain does not have your attention, you are not in pain. It’s a convincing thing.” This kind of immersive distraction works especially well for short-term, procedural pain. But to help chronic pain (慢性疼痛) patients, Hoffman needed a different strategy, one that went beyond distraction alone. Leona Bell is one of seven patients who joined Hoffman’s small-scale study. She took home a VR headset and then spent four months practicing some of the same movements from her physical therapy. Hoffman introduced a simple “mixed reality” innovation that, Bell says, helped her literally immerse herself in the VR world. Over the course of the study, Bell observed a reduction in her pain and sensitivity to cold. Her ability to move her hand increased, and her anxiety and depression improved, too. The same was true of 6 of the 7 participants, with improvements maintained at a one-year follow-up. This was a small study for a particularly tricky condition. But it is one of many studies over the last decade suggesting that VR may offer modest benefits for some people with chronic pain. 32. Why does the author mention the “SnowWorld”? A. To explain the role of distraction in VR. B. To introduce a VR method for chronic pain. C. To stress Hoffman’s pioneering work in VR. D. To show VR’s potential in pain management. 33. What can be inferred from Zina Trost’s words in paragraph 3? A. Visual distraction can help reduce pain. B. Pain will be completely gone if ignored. C. VR mainly works by blocking visual signals. D. Pain is entirely controlled by the injured tissue. 34. What do we know about Hoffman’s small-scale study? A. It focused on ordinary physical therapy. B. It was designed for short-term pain initially. C. The positive effects lasted at least one year. D. All seven patients got obvious improvements. 35. What’s the author’s attitude towards VR treating chronic pain? A. Strongly opposed. B. Cautiously optimistic. C. Overly enthusiastic. D. Completely indifferent. 【答案】32. D 33. A 34. C 35. B 【解析】 【导语】本文介绍疼痛不仅来自身体损伤,注意力、预期和感知也会显著影响人们对疼痛的感受。基于这一原理,研究者开始利用虚拟现实(VR)来缓解疼痛。初步研究显示,VR能够降低患者的疼痛感、提升身体活动能力,并改善情绪,且效果能长期维持。作者认为,VR为治疗慢性疼痛提供了积极、可行的新方向。 【32题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段“One of the earliest scientists to explore VR’s potential for pain relief is Hunter Hoffman, a psychologist who has been studying immersive (沉浸式的) environments for more than 25 years. At the University of Washington in Seattle, he developed an immersive environment called “SnowWorld” to help children experiencing burn wound care — a painful medical procedure. The program has been shown in multiple clinical studies to reduce both pain and anxiety during burn wound care.(最早探索VR在缓解疼痛方面的潜力的科学家之一是亨特·霍夫曼,一位心理学家,他从事沉浸式环境研究已超过25年。在西雅图华盛顿大学,他开发了一种名为“冰雪世界”(SnowWorld)的沉浸式环境,用于帮助接受烧伤伤口护理的儿童——这是一种令人痛苦的医疗程序。多项临床研究表明,该程序能减轻烧伤治疗过程中的疼痛和焦虑)”可知,以“SnowWorld”为例,说明VR有助于减轻烧伤患儿的疼痛和焦虑,展示了VR在疼痛管理上的潜力。 【33题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中Zina Trost引语“The driving factor is distraction (分心) , ...The visual system is so primary in people. And if pain does not have your attention, you are not in pain. It’s a convincing thing.(关键因素在于分散注意力…… 根据第六段“This was a small study for a particularly tricky condition. But it is one of many studies over the last decade suggesting that VR may offer modest benefits for some people with chronic pain.(对于一种特别棘手的病症而言,这项研究规模较小。但过去十年来,许多研究都表明,虚拟现实可能为部分慢性疼痛患者带来适度的好处,而这项研究就是其中之一)”可知,作者客观介绍VR技术的镇痛效果与研究进展,并指出其对部分慢性疼痛患者有益处,因此作者对这项技术的态度是谨慎乐观的。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Vocabulary opens up doors to new worlds and makes learning a language fun and satisfying. ___36___. I’m Li Hua, and I’d like to share a volunteer experience that truly touched me. Two months ago, our club organized a tutoring program for children in the local community. I was paired with a shy primary school boy who struggled with English. At first, he could hardly speak a complete sentence. I kept encouraging him patiently. I learned the real value of volunteering lies not just in the knowledge, but in the confidence we help build. As a child, coloring books were more than simple pages — they were small worlds waiting to be explored. I loved filling shapes with bright colors, and sometimes even the ground of the yard became secret canvases (油画布). Drawing felt natural and joyful, a quiet habit that stayed with me as I grew older. In middle school, Tom first entered my life as my deskmate in art class. Unlike me, he drew confidently and never hesitated (犹豫) to try new ideas. While Tom seemed excited by his progress, I slowly felt lost. My drawings no longer matched the ideas in my head, and each unfinished sketch (素描) made me more uncertain. I spent long evenings looking at the paper, erasing lines again and again, only to feel even sadder. Sometimes my hands shook as self-doubt filled my mind. I even considered giving up, wondering if I was truly talented enough to continue, so I painted less often. Lily, my close friend, loved art history but hardly drew herself. She often talked about famous painters and encouraged me to keep going. Still, as weeks passed, frustration grew stronger. I compared my work with Tom’s and felt my progress was painfully slow. Fear of making mistakes stopped me from experimenting, and my sketchbook still stayed closed more often than open. By the middle of the term, drawing had become a source of pressure instead of comfort. One afternoon, after receiving quiet advice from Ms Brown, our art teacher, to “be braver with your lines”, I sat alone in the classroom looking at a half-finished picture. Lily passed by and gently asked why I hadn’t handed in my work. I smiled and changed the topic, but deep inside, I felt more disappointed in myself. 注意: (1) 续写词数应为150个左右; (2) 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 At that time, Tom noticed my silence. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Slowly, with Tom’s help, my fear faded (逐渐消失). ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 At that time, Tom noticed my silence. He sat down beside me and gently asked why I had stopped handing in my drawings. After a moment of hesitation, I admitted my fear of making mistakes and my belief that I was not talented enough. Instead of laughing, Tom shared his own early sketches, which were full of crossed-out lines and awkward shapes. “I was scared too,” he said, “but drawing improves only when you keep trying.” His honesty made me feel understood for the first time. Slowly, with Tom’s help, my fear faded (逐渐消失). With his guidance, I began to notice real changes in my drawings. My lines became steadier, and I no longer erased every mistake. Tom’s encouragement taught me that progress mattered more than perfection. Each small improvement gave me confidence, and I started to believe in myself again. I realized that talent was not something we were born with, but something built through practice and support. Thanks to Tom, art no longer felt like a test I might fail, but a journey I was learning to enjoy. 词汇激活 行为类 ① 承认:admit/acknowledge ② 注意到:notice/spot ③ 重要:matter/count 情绪类 ①恐惧:fear/horror ② 笑:laugh/beam 【点睛】【高分句型1】After a moment of hesitation, I admitted my fear of making mistakes and my belief that I was not talented enough.(运用了that引导的同位语从句) 【高分句型2】Instead of laughing, Tom shared his own early sketches, which were full of crossed-out lines and awkward shapes.(运用了which引导的限定性定语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 绝密★启用前 高一年级下学期期末考试 英 语 试卷共8页,67小题,满分150分。 How much is the shirt? B When Leo turned sixteen, he received a gift that would change him in ways he never expected — a second-hand camera from his grandfather. C AI has made its way into almost every field, and according to Abta’s latest Holiday Habits report, the travel industry is no exception. D Pain is not just a signal from injured tissue. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Vocabulary opens up doors to new worlds and makes learning a language fun and satisfying. ___36___. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $高一年级下学期期末考试第一部分听力做题时,先将答案标在试卷上,录音内容结束后,你将有两分钟的时间将试卷上的答案转涂到答题卡上。现在是听力试音时间。Hello, international friends club. can I help you?
