Success is often considered to be the opposite of failure. To teenagers, it is the achievement of a goal or completion of something they really need, such as good grades and the ability to get along well with their classmates. Some schools used to agree with most parents who measured (判定) the success of their children according to grades, but now they pay special attention to moral (道德的) education and character-building to make sure teenagers achieve success in building human relationships.
Schools give chances to students to discover their hidden ability so that they can enjoy some forms of success. For example, those good at speaking skills are advised to take part in speech competitions while those interested in arts are expected to perform in front of their classmates. Teenagers also get the pleasure of success when they join their favorite clubs.
Teenagers are often told that success is not easy to achieve and that success lies in hard work. Great efforts have to be put into project work. Doing things much later than planned should be avoided as this will lead to a mountain of work which finally makes them nervous. Another good quality is a sense of responsibility (责任感) which makes them remember that a task has to be completed in time.
Sticking to moral values is the key to success too. Honest teenagers will win the trust of friends leading to good relationships. Self-motivation (自我激励) is another quality to be developed, for self-motivated teenagers will have the strong will and drive to perform a task and finally get to enjoy a sense of achievement.

A.Their classmates. B.Some schools.
C.Most parents. D.Their children.
30.Why are students given chances to take part in activities?
A.To get good grades. B.To improve speaking ability.
C.To express their love for arts. D.To get the pleasure of success.
31.What can we learn from Paragraph 3?
A.Project work makes teenagers nervous. B.Good qualities will lead to a happy life.
C.Teenagers are advised to complete tasks in time. D.Taking responsibility will make work much easier.
32.From the last paragraph, what is important for making students strong-minded?

① When it comes to teenage mental health, researchers have found that stress is no longer only a problem for adults (成年人). More middle school students are experiencing high levels of pressure in their daily lives, and this situation has drawn wide attention from parents, schools and society.
② One major cause is academic pressure. With more subjects and higher standards in Grade Eight, students often have difficulty balancing homework, revision and after-school classes. Many of them keep studying until late at night, hoping to get ideal grades in exams. However, this not only leads to poor sleep quality but also makes them easily worried and tired during the day.
③ Another important reason is the lack of proper communication. Many teenagers are unwilling to share their feelings with parents or teachers. They believe that adults cannot understand their troubles, so they keep their worries to themselves. Over time, these negative feelings will influence their mood, study, and even physical health. Some students become less confident, while others may feel lonely and helpless.
④ To solve this problem, experts suggest several practical ways. Firstly, students should learn to arrange time wisely and improve learning efficiency (效率) instead of studying for long hours without breaks. Secondly, it’s necessary to express feelings properly. Talking to trusted people can help reduce stress greatly. Thirdly, taking up hobbies and doing outdoor activities can help relax the mind and body.
⑤ Schools and parents also play important roles. Schools should organize more activities to reduce pressure, while parents should care more about their children’s mental health rather than only paying attention to grades.
⑥ In fact, stress is normal in life. The key is to face it positively and use the right ways to deal with it. Only in this way can teenagers keep healthy both in body and mind.
33.Why don’t teenagers share their troubles with adults?
A.They think adults can’t understand them.
B.They have no friends to talk to.
C.They are afraid of being laughed at.
D.They believe they can solve problems alone.

29.What does the underlined word “they” in Paragraph 1 refer to?
A.Their classmates. B.Some schools.
C.Most parents. D.Their children.
30.Why are students given chances to take part in activities?
A.To get good grades. B.To improve speaking ability.
C.To express their love for arts. D.To get the pleasure of success.
31.What can we learn from Paragraph 3?
A.Project work makes teenagers nervous. B.Good qualities will lead to a happy life.
C.Teenagers are advised to complete tasks in time. D.Taking responsibility will make work much easier.
32.From the last paragraph, what is important for making students strong-minded?
A.Self-motivation. B.Honesty.
C.Communication. D.Friends’ trust.

34.Which of the following is NOT the experts’ advice?
A.Studying as long as possible. B.Arranging time in a wise way.
C.Taking up some hobbies. D.Talking to trusted people.
35.What is the passage mainly about?
A.Ways of improving study efficiency
B.Teenagers’ stress and how to deal with it
C.How to make friends with teenagers

A recent survey conducted by the National Institute of Mental Health asked 2,000 teenagers aged 13-17 about their biggest concerns and challenges during adolescence. The results showed that academic pressure, body image issues, and social relationships were the top three worries for most teenagers.
Nearly 75% of the respondents said that getting good grades and getting into a good college was their biggest concern. Many teenagers reported feeling stressed about homework, exams, and the expectations of their parents and teachers. Some even said that they had trouble sleeping or eating because of the pressure.
Body image issues were the second most common concern, with 62% of teenagers saying that they felt insecure about their appearance. Girls were more likely to report feeling unhappy with their bodies than boys, but boys also struggled with body image issues, especially related to their height and muscle mass.
Social relationships were the third biggest worry for teenagers. Many said that they felt pressure to fit in with their peers and be popular. Some reported feeling lonely or isolated, while others had problems with bullying or conflicts with friends.
Other concerns mentioned in the survey included mental health issues, family problems, and uncertainty about the future. The survey also found that many teenagers were reluctant to talk about their feelings with adults, and that only about 30% had sought help from a counselor or therapist.
