B.By weighing. C.By feeling. D.By guessing. B To get a better idea of how far bees usually travel, researchers at Penn State worked to develop a way to follow bees. Bees are usually studied in a lab or near one. But the researchers wanted to develop a system that could work anywhere and be used by anyone. Researchers worked with engineers to create “AprilTags”, which are similar to QR codes (二维码). These codes are easy for cameras to find and read, even when the light isn’t good. They are smaller than a coin, and can be stuck on the back of bees without causing any harm. But sticking thousands of “AprilTags” was a lot of work. The researchers mainly studied young bees, tagging (贴标签) 600 of them every two weeks. Over the spring and summer, the researchers tagged over 32,000 bees spread across six different hives (蜂箱). By putting a camera powered by the sun and a tiny computer above the door to each hive, the researchers could follow the tagged bees. They could show when each bee left the hive and when it returned. The new system gave the researchers a lot of information about the bees’ flying. They found that most trips outside the hive took between one and four minutes. The researchers thought these short trips were used for quick jobs like checking the weather. Even longer trips were shorter than 20 minutes. But about 34% of the bees took trips that lasted longer than two hours. The researchers said this could show that the bees were making longer trips to collect food. The researchers noticed that the bees spent more time out collecting when there were fewer flowers around. Researchers know that bees use a special “dance” to communicate with each other about where to collect food. Now the researchers want to see how their new findings match up with the special dance. They plan to teach beekeepers and other researchers how to use their system. 34.What are the advantages of "AprilTags" according to the passage? ①Easy to read.  ②Safe to bees.  ③Cheap to buy.  ④Small in size.  ⑤Shiny in the dark. A.①②③ B.①②④ C.①③⑤ D.②④⑤ 35.What does “They” in Paragraph 3 refer to? A.The researchers. B.The tagged bees. C.Six different hives. D.Cameras and computers. 36.What can we infer (推断) from the passage? A.Bees change their flying time according to the environment B.Short trips were used for dangerous jobs like checking weather. C.About 66% of the bees took short trips between I and 4 minutes. D.Young bees were chosen because they use the special dance better 37.What is the best title for the passage? A.Following Young Bees with Cameras B.Creating New Codes with Computers C.Exploring Bees’ Flying with “AprilTags” D.Helping Beekeepers with New Technology C Most people follow others blindly. Some people feel it is safe to follow other people. In some rare cases it might be right, but in most cases this can make a big mistake. Ninety-five percent of people never succeed because they are following the wrong group. Actually, there are reasons why we shouldn’t follow others blindly. According to a study, people always follow others when they aren’t sure about the direction they should take. This means a large number of people could be following others without understanding what’s right and what’s wrong! This attracts more people to follow them and the result is that most people move in a certain direction even if it is wrong. A man who wants to be successful always hopes for guidance from others and he usually follows the same path of most people, but the question this man never asks himself is, “Are all of those people successful?” Of course not! If you want to follow a group, then follow a successful one. However, in real life you’ll only find one successful person among hundreds of people, and that’s why following others makes no sense at all. Most people act without thinking wisely. If you always follow others because they’re greater than you, then sooner or later you’ll discover that you’re making decisions you might regret (后悔) later. However, should we never follow others? No. But just think wisely before you make a decision. If you find others are right, there is no problem in following them, but if you doubt the direction they’re moving in, don’t follow them blindly. 38.Why do most people like to follow others blindly according to the passage? A.Because they don’t want to be different. B.Because they are affected by the people around them. C.Because they’re sure to take the right direction. D.Because they want to make themselves successful. 39.What does the underlined word “rare” in Paragraph 1 mean in Chinese? A.多数的 B.特殊的 C.稀薄的 D.少数的 40.What’s the best structure (结构) of the passage? ①=Paragraph 1, ②=Paragraph 2, ③=Paragraph 3, ④=Paragraph 4, ⑤=Paragraph 5 A. B. C. D. 41.What’s the main idea of the passage? A.Advantages of following others. B.Examples of following others. C.Reasons of not following others blindly. D.Ways of following others. 四、信息还原 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 It is believed that a good memory comes naturally, while a bad memory cannot be changed. 42 Here is some advice for you. ▲ Take an interest. 43 This can explain the reason why schoolboys remember football results clearly but have trouble with dates from their history lessons. ▲ Repeat things in chunks(块). Repeating things in chunks is the best way to remember things for a short time. 44 The following numbers would be impossible for most of us to remember: 1492178919318483. But look at them in groups or chunks repeatedly and it becomes much easier: 149 217 8919 318 483. ▲ 45 To remember long lists, try inventing a story which includes all the things you want to remember. In experiments(实验), people were asked to remember up to 120 words using this way. When tested later, they could remember about 90% of them. The test result was really amazing. ▲ Take physical exercise. Physical exercise is important for your memory, because it sends more oxygen(氧气) to your brain, and that makes your memory work better. 46 As we know, too much pressure is very bad for the memory. A.Invent a story. B.Putting numbers in groups may help you remember them. C.Remember a list. D.Exercise also makes you less stressed. E.Boys always do better than girls in school. F.In fact, you can do a lot to improve your memory. G.We all remember interesting things and always forget boring ones. 五、单词拼写 47.His ________ (粗心) often causes low scores in exams. 48.Those ________ (精力充沛的) boys enjoy running after class. 49.Please give me a reasonable ________ (解释) for your mistake. 50.________ (重复) new words can help you remember them. 51.We will ________ (创造) a new class plan next week. 52.________ (两者都不) of the two answers is correct. 六、选词填空 be used to,  a popular way,   easy,   protect,    from “Shuan Q” is a meme which can be used as 53 to say “I’m speechless” with a matching emoji attached behind. It seems no one would deny (否认) the effect of the Internet. Some believe it makes language paler but some see a brighter side as it makes online communication 54 between strangers. Cheng Xudong, a primary school teacher in Hangzhou, says that the evolution (演变) of Internet slang (俚语) is not all fun and carefree (无伤大雅). He has seen many times the compositions he has received 55 the students are flooded with abbreviated (缩写的) slangs. “The sentence ‘I am so happy’ turns to ‘I am happy duck’ by using the homophone (谐音). Some students 56 adding YYDS to the word motherland as if it could increase momentum (气势).” During last year’s two sessions (两会), several representatives put forward proposals (提出倡议) such as “regulating (整改) online language” and “banning vulgar (粗俗) words” to 57 Chinese. 七、短文填空 If a person wants to be 58 gentleman, he should pay attention to what he does and says. Then what are the rules for a gentleman on words and actions? Let’s find out the answers from Confucius, one of the greatest 59 (teacher) in ancient China. Confucius said: “If a gentleman, not caring for food or housing, is diligent in what he does, careful with what he says and rectifies himself with a worthy, he can be regarded as a good learner.” —The Analects of Confucius (子曰:“君子食无求饱,居无求安,敏于事而慎于言,就有道而正焉,可谓好学也已。”——《论语》) In the West, people pay too much attention to 60 (be) eloquent (能言善辩的). They believe that how someone says something is 61 (important) than what is said. However, Confucius didn’t think so. He believed that gentlemen should choose their words 62 (careful), even if that may make people feel 63 (bore). Confucius had such beliefs 64 he thought that words are important and that they should follow after etiquette (规矩). But he also put forward his idea of what gentlemen should do: work hard. He said that gentlemen should not be lazy and need to focus on their work to improve 65 (they). These rules for gentlemen’s words and actions 66 (influence) Chinese people for a long time. Today, many Chinese people still prefer to have a practical spirit rather 67 say beautiful words. Of course, as culture has developed over time, we should also view his words critically (批判性地). Choosing our words and actions according to the situation is also a form of wisdom. 八、任务型阅读 请认真阅读下面短文,用英语回答短文后的问题。 Have you ever heard of someone who understood chimpanzees (大猩猩) almost like friends? She was Dr. Jane Goodall, a British scientist who spent her life studying chimpanzees and protecting nature. She passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, at the age of 91. From a young age, Jane loved animals. When she was just 11 years old, she dreamed of going to Africa to live with wild animals. This amazing dream actually came true! In 1960, at 26 years old, she traveled alone to Africa and began studying chimpanzees in Gombe National Park. Jane studied animals in a new way. She sat quietly in the forest every day, watching the chimpanzees patiently. Slowly, they got used to her and let her come closer. Finally, her discoveries amazed the world. First, she found that chimpanzees make and use tools. For example, she saw a chimp use a twig to “fish” for termites (白蚁) to eat. This changed what scientists believed, as they used to think only humans used tools. Moreover, Jane discovered that chimpanzees have their own personalities. They hug, kiss, have close family bonds, and even fight over territory (领地). Jane Goodall strongly believed that “every individual matters”. Her story shows us that one person, with passion, courage, patience, and persistence, can really make a difference. 68.Where did Jane Goodall begin her study of chimpanzees? 69.What important discoveries did Jane Goodall make about chimpanzees? 70.What do you think of Jane Goodall?
