I planned my first solo (独自的) trip during my year off. People at college had quickly formed travel teams, eager to plan the perfect Gap Year adventure with friends. As a self-proclaimed (自称的) lone wolf, I had decided to go solo. I chose Thailand-a good backpacking choice for solo beginners. Now years
have passed, but I still remember the first day of that trip, clearly.
It’s 2016. 19-year-old me is seriously sleepy after three back-to-back flights to Koh Samui, Thailand. Holding a fresh melon drink in my hands, I find myself standing among a crowd of backpackers. I’m waiting for a boat to Koh Tao.
I reach the island after dark, before being guided into the back of a pickup truck with 6 other backpackers. There’s something particularly magical about racing through the forest with the warm night air flowing against your face. Every so often we pass a cafe or bar among branches and leaves; the towering trees move slowly past us. We race around the island for seemingly hours, cheering and laughing like madmen.
I finally reach my concrete (混凝土制的) home only to discover that, of course, there is no air-conditioning. I am serious when I say I now know how it feels to be inside an oven (烤炉). A combination of jet lag (时差反应) and impatience drives me to leave my room at about 1 am. I walk past the wooden houses to the beach. A few young people sit outside a bar on the sand, drinking beer and playing cards. It’s almost too easy to join them. So, there I sit. I’d finally done it, feeling the sand between my toes and watching the lights of distant fishing boats shine on the surface of the sea.

A. He invites a group of young people to drink. B. He takes a fishing boat out to relax himself.
C. He goes to find new accommodation. D. He goes to the seaside to calm down.
27. What is the author’s main purpose in writing this text?
A. To encourage people to try solo travel.
B. To discuss the advantages of solo travel.
C. To stress that solo travel has helped him become braver.
D. To share his experience during the first day of his solo trip.

“The Louvre is dusting off its treasures, even the least-known,” said Jean-Luc Martinez, President-Director of the Musee du Louvre, in a statement on Friday. “For the first time, anyone can access its collection of works from a computer or smartphone for free.”
According to the Louvre’s official release, about 482,000 works have been digitized, representing about three quarters of the entire archive (档案馆).
“It’s just overwhelming (势不可挡),” says Andrew McClellan, a Tufts University professor and author of Inventing the Louvre: Art, Politics and the Origins of the Modern Museum in Eighteenth-Century Paris.“The strategy of putting nearly everything online is in keeping with the Enlightenment ideals that shaped the museum after the French Revolution: collecting the world’s knowledge together under one roof, and then making it available for researchers and the general public.”
Major institutions have been digitizing their collections for many years, but the Louvre’s online archives required especially significant labor and financial resources (人力和财力). Given this, McClellan and other observers have wondered whether the Louvre may find ways to monetize(使货币化) some of these images, and whether the online collection will affect real-life attendance. “I am sure that this digital content is going to further inspire people to come to the Louvre to discover the works in person,” the museum’s director said in his statement.
“I’m generally impressed by the Louvre’s online expansion (扩展), especially since it guides visitors beyond the obvious popular works of art such as Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo," says Suse Anderson, a professor of a Museum Studies at George Washington University, who studies the impact of of digital technology on museums. “I’m not the person seeking the hero works. They’re so easy to find. I’m the person who wants to find the unexpected. The Louvre’s online collection helps you see things you might
not otherwise. And online, you can ... Louvre (leave) ... the noisy crowds of tourists far behind.”
28. What does the underlined word “access”in the first paragraph probably mean?
A. Buy. B. Protect. C. Create. D. Enjoy.
29. What is McClellan’s attitude towards the Louvre’s effort?
A. Supportive. B. Changing. C. Doubtful. D. Uncaring.
30. What is one of McClellan’s concerns about the Louvre?
A. Whether the number of in-person visits will fall.
B. Whether the update of the online archive is timely.
C.Whether the digitization of the collection will speed up.
D. Whether the research on the well-known works is reasonable.
31. What does Anderson say about the Louvre’s effort?
A. It inspires more people to visit the Louvre.
B. It contributes to the protection of the Louvre.
C. It gives less popular works a chance to be discovered.
D. It helps visitors connect more closely with the hero works.
D
A real-life transforming robot designed to copy the movement of animals that live on Planet Earth will finally change the way other planets will be explored, researchers said.
The robot, called “Morphobot,” was inspired by animals such as birds, meerkats and sea lions, according to a paper published in Nature on Tuesday. Sea lions walk on land using their flippers, meerkats stand on their back legs to look around and chukar birds use their wings to walk on all fours up steep inclines (斜坡).
By copying the ways these animals move, the robot can perform different types of movement to get through its environment, including flying, rolling, balancing, crawling, crouching and tumbling(爬行、蹲伏和翻滚), the researchers said.
The Morphobot was designed to travel over various surfaces on land and in the air by transforming its appendages (附属物) between wheels, propellors (推进器), legs and hands. The robot weighs around 13 pounds, and is about 27.5 inches wide and 13.8 inches tall. It also has four legs, with ducted fans fixed at the leg ends. The fans are able to transition (转变) between functioning as legs, propellors or wheels.
The robot is able to adapt its movements to walk on stony ground, climb steep inclines, tumble over large objects, fly to higher levels and crawl in narrow pathways, Alireza Ramezani, an assistant professor of electrical computer engineering at Northeastern University and author of the study, told ABC News.
When the creation of the Morphobot began, Ramezani, a robotics expert known for his nature-inspired designs, imagined a machine that could move both on the ground and in the air.
Ramezani believes his newest design is the future of space exploration.“I’m confident it is going to replace some traditional mobile robots at NASA,” Ramezani said.“The whole idea is to change the way that future space explorations look.”
32. What inspired the Morphobot?
A. A few animals. B. A paper in Nature.
C. A few Earth-like planets. D. A traditional mobile robot.
33. What is special about the Morphobot?
A. It can transform its color to match its environment. B. It can function on land and in the sea.
C. It can produce various bird sounds. D. It can move in different ways.
34. What does paragraph 4 mainly tell us about the Morphobot?
A. Its limitations. B. Its specific application situations. C. Its design. D. Its research history.
35. What does Ramezani expect of the Morphobot?
A. It can change how people view space exploration.
B. It can become a game-changer in space exploration.
C. It can inspire more people to join in space exploration.
D. It can encourage the reuse of traditional robots in space exploration.
第二节(共 5 小题;每小题 2.5 分,满分 12.5 分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Podcasts(播客) are a powerful tool for anyone learning English as a second language. They’re easy to access, cover a wide range of topics, and let you hear real, natural English. 36 Here are some practical tips on using language-learning podcasts to improve your English skills.
First, just listen.
Listen to a podcast with nothing. Just listen. No transcript (文字稿). No dictionary. No stopping or
pausing (暂停). 37 That’s totally fine! Just relax and focus on understanding as much as you can. Learning to be comfortable with not understanding every word is an important skill.
38
Most podcasts include a list of words that are used in the episode (集) along with explanations of the harder words. Read the explanations, look up new words in a dictionary, and write them down.
Listen with the transcript.
Once you’re more familiar with the words, listen to the podcast again-this time with the transcript. Read along as you listen. 39 This is how you can be completely sure of everything that’s said in the podcast.
Speak to yourself.
40 Copy the speaker and tell yourself what the podcast is about, what the most interesting thing is, or something new you’ve learned. This will really help improve your speaking skills!
A. Look up words.
B. Listen to different stories.
C. But how can you make full use of them?
D. Each episode offers advice on tricky English topics.
E. In this way, you can follow every word the speaker says.
F. Now that you understand the podcast, try speaking out loud.
G. Don’t stress out if you don’t understand half of what you hear.

Anxiously, I looked through the roster (名单) posted on the wall of the locker room. My heart was beating harder and harder as I slowly saw all my friends’ names on that list but could not find mine. At that moment, I froze. I just could not accept that all my friends were on the basketball team while I was not.
I was so convinced there was a mistake that I went and found the coach. “Hey, coach, are you sure that the roster you posted is correct?”
“Yes, the names on the list are finalized. Sorry if you did not make it this year, there is always next year,” the coach replied.
I could feel the hot, bitter tears filling my eyes, and I ran out of the room as fast as I could. Trying to forget about the situation, I headed over to the cafeteria to buy some food. I felt dead inside, like nothing mattered. Walking was such a burden that it felt as if I had a100-pound weight tied to my backpack. My mind was also blank for the rest of the school day. Everything my teachers said went in one ear and out the other.
After school, as I walked to the parking lot to get picked up, I saw all my friends gathered near the back of the lot, celebrating and joking around. I detoured (绕道) around the side of the school to avoid them, trying not to think about being the only one in our friend group failing to make the team.
I saw my father’s car stop near the school lot. I walked up and got in. And soon he noticed my gloomy(沮丧的) face, and asked me what was wrong. “Nothing. Well, it’s just that all my friends made the school team. Everyone! Except me...” I stammered (口吃). “So, what are you going to do about it?” he asked. Surprised, I didn’t know what to say.
注意:
(1) 续写词数应为150左右;

第一节 one possible version:
Dear Eric,
I’d like to invite you to a fascinating lecture on Chinese seal cutting culture at our city museum next Friday at 2 PM.
The lecture will cover the history of seal cutting, its role in Chinese art and calligraphy, and how the technique has developed over the centuries. The speaker will also demonstrate the carving process, and attendees will have the opportunity to try it themselves! I think it’1l be a great experience, and I’d love to go with you!
Looking forward to your reply!
Yours,
Li Hua
第2节 one possible version:
I just shook my head and went into my room. I thought long and hard and finally realized it was no use feeling depressed and that opportunities only favored the prepared mind. So the next day I made an after-school training plan and began to work hard towards my goal. I kept training day after day, rain or shine. There were many times when I was on the verge of giving up, but I toughed it out, holding the belief “no pain, no gain”.
After almost a year of practicing and training, I tried out(参加选拔) for the team again.“Come on. It's time for my hard work to pay off!" I said to myself. After the tryout, I felt confident. No matter what the outcome was, at least I wouldn’t have any regret. Once again, the roster was posted and just a glance I saw my name printed on it. Tears, not bitter but sweet this time, welled up in my eyes. The experience taught me an important lesson and inspired me whenever I suffered setbacks.
