In ancient China, there was a famous story about a king and his wisdom. The king’s name was Liu Heng. He was known for his kindness and his simple lifestyle. Unlike many other kings, he did not spend a lot of money on expensive clothes or big palaces. He cared more about his people.
One day, the king wanted to build a terrace (露台) for relaxation. The plans were made, and the materials were ready. However, just before the construction (建设) started, the king learned that building the terrace would cost a huge amount of money and would require many farmers to leave their fields. After thinking carefully, the king decided to cancel the project. His advisors were surprised. They said, “Your Majesty, the preparation work is already (已经) done. 句意:我认为这是在家庭中解决问题的一个有用的方法。way是可数名词单数,此处缺少冠词,useful是以辅音音素开头的单词,所以用不定冠词a。
【59题详解】
句意:如果你想要改善你的家庭关系,我强烈推荐你从一起吃顿饭并进行一次真正的交谈开始。此处缺少连词,根据“you want to improve your family relationship”可知,这里表示假设,if“如果”,符合语境。句首单词首字母大写,故填If。
【60题详解】
句意:你会对你能了解到这么多关于你家庭成员的事情感到惊讶。be surprised at为固定短语,意为“对……感到惊讶”,surprised为形容词,表示“感到惊讶的”,故填surprised。
四、阅读与表达(共4小题,61~63小题,每小题2分,64小题4分;满分10分)
阅读短文,然后根据内容回答问题。
In the wild, wolves with broken legs often face an unlucky fate (命运), waiting for death. Yet, in the Hoh Xil National Nature Reserve (可可西里国家自然保护区) in Qinghai, one such wolf had a different fate (命运). It grew from a poor, thin one to a fat, happy wolf because tourists in the area often fed it.
This “act of kindness” leads people to ask: Should tourists feed the wolf? Supporters (支持者) argue that without feeding, the wolf would die because it couldn’t get food by itself. But those who do not agree with the idea believe that humans should not mess with (干扰) the natural order. Science, however, provides us with an answer.
Research published in Scientific Reports in June 2019 studied how human feeding affected the lives of bottlenose dolphins (宽吻海豚) near Bunbury, Australia. Dolphins there can sometimes get food from The Dolphin Discovery Centre. After studying more than 10 years of data, the scientists found that dolphins looking for food from boats had a higher risk of death than those who found food themselves. This is because they may get hit by boats or caught by fishing nets (网).
“Feeding wild animals may lead them to depend on humans for food,” warned (警告) Dai Qiang, a scientist at the Chengdu Institute of Biology of Chinese Academy of Sciences. What’s more, animals may bring diseases(疾病) to people who feed them.
So, if we come across a wild animal that seems to need our help, what should we do? Qi Xinzhang, deputy director (副主任)of Xining Wildlife Park, said that it’s best to report the animal to the authorities (权威人士) instead of just feeding it.
61. What happened to the wolf in the nature reserve according to Paragraph 1?
__________________________________________________
62. Why did the bottlenose dolphins looking for food from boats have a higher risk of death?
__________________________________________________
63. What problem might humans face if they feed wild animals?
__________________________________________________
64. What do you think of Mr. Qi’s suggestion? And why do you think so? Write 30 words or more.

【答案】61. It grew from a poor, thin one to a fat happy wolf./It became fat and happy.
62. Because they may get hit by boats or caught by fishing nets.
63. They may/might get sick/ill./They may/might be sick/ill./Wild animals may bring diseases to people who feed them.
64. I think his suggestion is helpful/good for animals and people. Because feeding animals may lead them to depend on humans for food, and sometimes it’s dangerous for people, so we mustn’t feed them.
