Last month, our family decided to have a “Family Day”—a whole day without phones or computers, just spending time together. Dad thought of the idea after reading an article about the importance of family bonding.
In the morning, we worked together to decorate the backyard. Mum taught us how to do some gardening, and Dad showed us how to fix the broken bench. I pulled out the weeds, and my little sister carried water. It was tiring but fun to see our changes take shape.
After lunch, we played board games. At first, my brother cried because he kept losing, but we talked him into continuing (继续). Later, we looked through old family photos. Dad told stories about when he was young—like the time he fell off his bike and broke his arm!
In the evening, we cooked dinner together. I chopped vegetables, Mum stirred (搅拌) the soup, and Dad grilled (烤) the chicken. The food tasted delicious because we’d made it as a team. Before bed, we each wrote down one thing we treasure about our family.
That day taught me that true happiness isn’t from phones or computers. It’s from happy moments with the people who love you. I hope we have more Family Days—they make our family stronger. We all felt sad when Family Day ended, but finally we could do it again next month. That special day created a wonderful memory we’ll remember forever.

Friends are important in our life. Everyone needs good friends. But what kind of friends do we need? Some people like friends who are similar to them, while others prefer friends who are different.
My best friend is Linda. She is taller than me. She is 1.65 meters tall, but I am only 1.58 meters. Linda is more outgoing than me. She likes talking to people and making new friends. I am a little shy, so she often encourages me to speak in public.
Linda is also more hard-working than me. She always gets good grades and helps me with my studies. We both like music, but she plays the piano better than I do. However, I can sing better than her. We often help each other and learn from each other.
People say that friends are like mirrors. Linda is like a mirror to me. She shows me my weaknesses and helps me improve. I am glad to have such a good friend. Our friendship is very precious to me.
We often exchange ideas and share our favorite books. When I’m in trouble, she never minds helping me. I know our friendship is not really just a game—it’s something real. Maybe we’ll have some disagreements in the future, but I believe our friendship will remain. It’s a treasure that I’ll cherish forever.

A. How to make new friends at school.

As the well had no water and was only six feet deep, we took a ladder (梯子) and climbed down. After a few minutes, we pulled the baby sheep out of the well. The mother sheep was close to her baby. She made soft sounds and moved her tail from side to side. Sometimes, she came close to us and smelled our hands. It seemed like she was trying to say “thanks”. Through this experience, I felt happy because sharing brings double joy. It not only helped us learn more knowledge but also improved our friendship deeply. I think you can always share more wonderful things with others in the near future.
