Ⅰ. 阅读理解
「2026 浙江杭州西湖期中改编」
The Dragon Boat Festival is not only celebrated in China, but also winning hearts overseas. In recent years, more and more foreign cities have held their own dragon boat races, turning this 2,000-year-old Chinese tradition into a global event.
In Markham, Canada, the annual dragon boat festival has been held for over 30 years. Every June, hundreds of teams from local schools, companies and communities gather at the lake. "At first, people came just for fun," said Li Wei, a Chinese-Canadian organizer. "But now many locals can tell you the story of Qu Yuan, and some even wrap zongzi by themselves."
Similar scenes can be seen in Australia, the UK and the US. In New York, the dragon boat race on the Hudson River attracts over 30,000 spectators each year. Interestingly, some teams paint their boats with patterns mixing Chinese dragons and local totems(图腾), creating a special "cross-cultural" style.
However, not everything goes smoothly. Some young Chinese overseas worry that the festival is losing its "taste" — fewer people remember why we hang ai cao(艾草)or drink realgar wine(雄黄酒). "Racing is cool, but we shouldn't forget the meaning behind it — remembering ancestors and cherishing health," said Chen Meng, a 15-year-old student in London.
To pass on the real spirit, many overseas Chinese communities have added new activities: teaching kids to weave colorful threads, telling the Qu Yuan story in bilingual(双语的)shows, and even holding online zongzi-making classes. "Tradition doesn't have to stay in the past," Li Wei smiled. "It grows wherever Chinese people go."

On the evening of September 29, 2025, the Chinese Students and Scholars Association(CSSA)at Paris University held its first "Mid-Autumn Garden Party" by the Seine River. More than 200 people came — not only Chinese students, but also French teachers and local neighbors.
The party started with a short play Chang'e Flying to the Moon, performed by four Chinese students in hanfu. Then came the fun part: guessing lantern riddles(灯谜). The riddles were written in both Chinese and French, so even foreigners could join. "I guessed one! The answer is 'moon cake'!" laughed Sophie, a French girl who just started learning Chinese this term.
In the corner, two students were teaching people to make lanterns with bamboo strips(竹条)and rice paper. Nearby, an elderly French couple were tasting mooncakes carefully. "This one with egg yolk is my favorite," the lady said. "It tastes like sunshine."
But the highlight(亮点)was at 9 p.m. — everyone walked to the riverside, lit a small paper lantern, and floated it on the water while whispering a wish. "In China, we say 'the moon on the sea grows round, we share it from far and wide'," said Lin Xin, the organizer. "Tonight, the Seine becomes our 'sea', and the lanterns carry our thoughts home."
When asked why they held such a party, Lin smiled: "Mid-Autumn Festival is about reunion(团圆), but also about sharing. We want our French friends to know: this festival isn't just ours — the beauty of 'full moon, full heart' belongs to everyone."
