固定搭配turn out that表示结果发现,贴合本句句式;picked out“挑选”、gave out“分发”、ran out“耗尽”搭配不当。

Many people know “Chengcheng”, one of the mascots (吉祥物) of the 2026 Horse Spring Festival Gala. But do you know it is based on a special animal—the Przewalski’s horse
The Przewalski’s horse is the only kind of wild horse left on Earth. In the 1970s, it was extremely hard for these wild horses to live in the wild because people hunted them illegally and destroyed their habitats. As a result, the Przewalski’s horse was once listed as EW (extinct in the wild) in the Red List of IUCN, an international organization for wildlife protection.
To save them, a special program—China’s Wild Horse Return Program was started in 1985. It has worked very well in the past 40 years. Today, the number of Przewalski’s horses in China has increased from 11 to over 900, nearly one-third of the world’s total.
The biggest challenge of the program is to develop the horses’ ability to live in the wild on their own. The horses are first raised in breeding (繁育) centers. After that, they will be sent to nature reserves to get used to nature. There are four such nature reserves in China, and the one in Xinjiang is the first and largest one. 176 horses have been set free to live there.
As the population of the horses grows, the risk level of the Przewalski’s horse is now EN (endangered) instead of EW. The success of the program shows China’s great progress in protecting endangered species.
16. Why did Przewalski’s horses face great trouble in the 1970s?
A. Because there was no food in their living areas.
B. Because no programs were set up to protect them.
C. Because they lost homes and were hunted illegally.
D. Because the IUCN listed them as endangered animals.
17. How many Przewalski’s horses are there in the world now?
A. 11. B. 176. C. Over 900. D. About 2700.
18. What does the underlined word “one” in Paragraph 4 refer to?
A. Nature reserve. B. Wild horse. C. Special program. D. Breeding center.
19. What can we learn from Paragraph 5?
A. Wildlife protection benefits all animal species.
B. China worked hard to save endangered animals.
C. Przewalski’s horses are no longer endangered now.
D. The IUCN Red List often changes animal risk levels.
20. What is the best title for the passage?
A. The Lovely mascot Chengcheng. B. A Wonderful Trip to Northwest China.
C. A Special Program to Save Wild Horses. D. The Amazing Life of Przewalski’s Horses.
C 17. D 18. A 19. B 20. C

Dear You, a low-budget film produced in Shenzhen, has become one of the most successful Chinese movies of 2026. This movie was directed by Lan Hongchun, the owner of a Shenzhen-based film company. It cost only 14 million yuan but has made up to 1.8 billion yuan at Chinese mainland box office (票房). Meanwhile, it was also shown in other countries across the world.
What makes Dear You a hit is its focus on real emotions and warm themes of family, kindness, and homeland, rather than big stars or expensive special effects. Using a simple storytelling style, it follows a young man’s journey to Thailand in search of his long-lost grandfather. He believed his grandfather was a rich man, only to find that he had passed away years ago. Finally, the man uncovered a touching secret: the letters and money, which his family had received for years, actually came from a kind stranger.
The touching plot (情节) is deeply rooted in the real-life experiences of overseas Chinese from Chaoshan. To make the film more authentic, Director Lan spent three years interviewing nearly 300 overseas Chinese families across Southeast Asia, Europe, and the US. And about 90% of the film’s story is based on true events.
The success of Dear You also reflects Shenzhen’s growing cultural power. The city has built a strong support system for low-budget films.
